NFL Week 14 Preview: Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Baltimore Ravens | Chris Simms Unbuttoned | NFL on NBC
One of three can’t miss, must-see early window Sunday games. The Pittsburgh Steelers six and six at Baltimore, six-6. The first of two meetings to come for Baltimore and Pittsburgh. The Ravens are favored by six points at home, 42 over under. And this is the first of three divisional games this weekend where the winner will have sole possession of first place in their division. Who do you like? Well, I I mean it it’s in Baltimore, right? I think the Ravens are the better football team even though they’re not playing to their full capacity. There’s some concerns. I I kind of broke this down on my Tuesday podcast this week, Mike. I mean, the the you know, we we’ve talked about it a lot, right? Just the the Ravens offense is not functioning at a very high level as we saw last week. Now, some of that was self-inflicted. You know, Lamar fumbles on his own 5 yardd line and Isaiah likely gets the North Korea fumbles into the end zone. And I don’t care who the you are. You make those kind of mistakes, you’re going to be in a ball game. It’s it’s just the way it goes. But on top of that, the point being is Lamar Jackson has not been himself ever since he came back from the injury. He’s not running as much. He’s not making nearly as many as explosive plays in the pass game as far as scrambling. There’s not been many quarterback design runs. There’s a lot of plays where I go, “Oh, he’s about to turn the corner and run for 25 here. Ooh, he he didn’t get the corner. He got pushed out for three.” So that’s not the same. And then he’s not throwing the ball. He hasn’t got back into just grooving the ball like we know he can. I mean, Lamar Jackson has been a machine throwing the football the last few years. People open by an inch, two inches, whatever. He’s he stripes it in there. Right now, he’s missing throws and not seeing the field real well. And I’ve been there cuz when you miss a few weeks in the NFL sometimes and you come back in, it just feels like, whoa, everybody’s playing great and into the season and I feel like I’m just getting to start to get a feel here. But nonetheless, how can you pick the Steelers? I mean, what what what’s there to like the Steelers? Oh, I have no faith in them. And then even though the Ravens offense is struggling, it’s not struggling to such an extent that I think the Steelers are defense is going to stop it. 2714 Ravens. Last year, the Steelers won in Pittsburgh and it was one of those classic Steelers pull it out of your butt. Right. Right. It it and I went with pasta and meatballs and picked the Steelers then. I remember that. And I shouldn’t have. The Ravens were the better team last year and then the Ravens beat them twice later in the year at home. Once in the regular season, once in the postseason. The Ravens, I think on paper across the board are the better team. My Simmons made this point earlier today on PFT Live and I’m going to steal it from him and repeat it here. This is a simple calculation for the Ravens and for the Steelers. Derrick Henry, Dererick Henry, Derk Henry, Dererick Henry. And if the Steelers sell out to stop the run, they dare Lamar Jackson to beat them. And this will be the key. Is Lamar back? And I think the Steelers will. It’s a pride thing. After getting gashed last week at home, the most yards allowed on the ground at home in 50 years. I think the Steelers will do everything they can to keep Derrick Henry from systematically ramming the ball down their throats. And it will be opportunity for Lamar Jackson to get himself back on track. And he’s going to be bringing an element of pride into this. He’s been great for the most part in prime time. He was anything but great last Thursday night. He’s had a little extra time to recover. And I think that, you know, at some point at some point he’s going to be as close to 100% as he’s going to be this year from all these different injuries. I I think that that and look, I was right on 1913. Um I I think six points is too big of a spread for this. I think the Steelers will do everything they can to keep it close, but at the end of the day, they they will lose. I believe 1914 Ravens win. And the Steelers, according to NextGen stats, if they lose, their playoff chances go down to 15%. And by the way, it sets the stage for what could be an ugly Monday night home game against the Dolphins where you’re not going to have a lot of fans show up. And those who do are going to be chanting Fire Tomlin, and they’re going to be booing during Renegade, and the terrible towels are going to be left in the car. That’s what it’s going to be like that Monday night if the Steelers lose this game. Yeah, I hear there. I hear that, Mike. And I’ll be interested to see what happens with like the defense like you talked about because that that’s another thing I broke down on my Tuesday podcast. The Bills ran and you heard TJ Watts comment, right? I never saw one team run the same play so many times over and have success. They ran two run plays the whole night and just basically the Steelers couldn’t stop it. So I’m I’m at the point a little bit like to what you’re talking about where I go I if the Steelers go all out to stop the run, I don’t even know if they’re capable of stopping it then. I I mean I’m dead serious. It it’s it’s it’s embarrassing. the way they look right now. Going to be interesting to see how this game unfolds. Well, if they’re ever going to win a must-have game, it’s now after everything that’s gone on there this week. I just don’t feel like collectively they have the skill level right now. At what point do we have to see it play out? They’re two and five over their last seven games. At what at some point, we just have to forget the uniform, forget the history, forget the guys who aren’t on the field like Mike Tomlin, and focus on the guys who are on the field. And I just no matter how badly they want it, I just don’t think it’s in the cards for the Steelers this week. Yo yo yo, thanks for watching homies. The steelers will win this game then lose to Miami..it's what Mike Tomlin coached football teams do!
Ravens by 14
I think steelers could win this as easy as the ravens can .
2 mediocre teams that are not going anywhere, Steelers will get blown out by the best wildcard and Ravens may be competitive. The Bengals may be a better team, but at 4-8 they are not even going 4-1, they are not some victim of circumstance but have been playing mediocre most of the time.
Go Pittsburgh Riverhounds a true Championship 🏆🥇 Team .
I’m not watching anymore Steelers games all they do is lose
Is Asante Samuel Jr. up to the task? Derreck Harmon out is a major problem. He is that good of a player.
If Ravens are mistake free , they should win .. No turnovers
Ends in a tie 10 to 10 lol. I'm Being sarcastic but honestly any fan of either of these teams that is confident in a win by double digits is wearing some fan goggles.
Y’all just don’t understand how bad the Ravens offensive line is! They’re bad at being consistent in run blocking and is horrible at pass blocking! That’s why Lamar got hurt and why he’s seeing ghosts out there and is uncomfortable in the pocket!
Ravens are a better team, but Steelers beat better teams and lose to worse teams all the time. Just depends on Steelers getting turnovers.
I bet that the Ravens make the Steelers look like a top5 defense 😂😂😂😂
I’m a lifelong Steelers fan; Steelers will get fucking rolled. They suck. They are an unwatchable train wreck
It's been ugly and angering since the first Cincinnati game.
