🚨 BREAKING: Mets In on an ACE + Two MAJOR Developments | Mets News

Breaking reports have suggested the Mets are in on this huge star pitcher that could change the landscape for the Mets pitching rotation. Plus, we get an update in regard to Edwin Diaz and another free agent pitcher that is coming over from overseas. We’re going to break it down all next on Metcast. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] What’s going on, Mets Nation? Welcome back to another offseason edition of Metcast. As always, I am Randy. We had John Harper on yesterday and we had an awesome, awesome conversation. I’ll be sure to link that video at the end of this video. But enough of that stuff, guys. We got some news around Edwin Diaz that I want to get to from the guys over at Sleeper Mets. Let’s give it a look. Here we have it from Sleeper Mets. An update on Edwin Diaz. The Mets seem adamant about not going to five years in regard for Edwin Diaz. We got the report early of yesterday that the Toronto Blue Jays of all teams are clearly in on Edwin Diaz plus other teams. It seems as though the LA Dodgers are not going to be going there for Edwin Diaz, but something I reported live with John Harpy yesterday on our live. I said multiple people have told me the New York Mets are at four years and nobody’s really going to five right now. And the first team to go to five would probably end up landing Diaz. And look, that’s why they went out and got Williams. Obviously, former closer of the Milwaukee Brewers. Was with the Yankees last year and now with us this year. But that’s what scares me. We need Edwin Diaz at the back of this bullpen. Otherwise, you have Williams and yeah, a couple nice pieces, but it looks so much nicer if mentor and Williams are setting up the best closer in the game in Diaz. This is absolutely a situation to monitor. With the winter meetings coming up just next week, we’re only a couple of days away. I believe it’s the 7th, so roughly 3 days away from the winter meetings, and that’s where we expect to see major movement in the closer market, including Edwin Diaz. Now, I want to get to an international pitcher that is coming over that is linked to the New York Mets. Some say he could be a number three, a high-end number three, maybe a low-end number two. Other people have him as an ace, but clearly Ken Rosenthal links him to the New York Mets as well as several other teams. Let’s give it a look. And who are the front runners for Tatsuga? Now, in our notes column today, Patrick Mooney and I, we wrote about Emi. And Patrick in assembling that, it was his note for the most part, pointed out that Amaya is a guy that is not necessarily wedded to any one part of the country or any one team or anything like that. He is open-minded. That was the point of what Patrick wrote. Three East Coast teams I can see being in on Amay for sure. Both New York teams. The Yankees could use another starter. Not necessarily. Good to hear. And it’s interesting one team that he doesn’t mention. I’ll let you know in a sec. An absolute must, but man, it would be great if they got one more. The Mets. We know they need an ace. And certainly they were in on Yamamoto, as were the Yankees. and the Phillies, another team that was in on Yamamoto two years ago, also figured to be in the my sweep stakes. So, those are three teams. We’ve heard San Francisco is out, but here is a guy that can be a difference maker and the best Japanese pitcher coming aboard this year. I would expect he’s going to do quite well in free agency. Now, that’s news to me. Finding out that San Francisco is no longer going to be involved in Amaya is kind of shocking to me. We saw the news they’re not looking to spend nine figures and that tells me Amaya is going to get over $100 million. The 27y old tops out around 97 98 miles an hour. Seemed to have gotten progressively better now that I’ve broken down his tape. Yeah, I like his tape, but I’m not totally sure he’s going to be a number one, but it’s clear he’s going to get paid like a number one. And getting a pitcher like that coming over from overseas, the league hasn’t seen him. Now, there’s also a rumor that he put out there that he doesn’t want to join a team with another Japanese player. I’m not totally sure, you know, Kodi Sango would bother a guy like that, but he clearly doesn’t want to go to the Dodgers. We saw his former comments about talking about how he wants to beat the Dodgers rather than join him. So, that is another name. And there were multiple reports over the last couple days that Amay will sign during the winter meetings. Remember, his window is short. He’s only has a short window to sign before being forced to go back to Japan. So, he is going to sign absolutely 100% over the next two weeks. And be sure to watch because the Mets will be involved in the Amay sweep stakes. Now I want to get to another picture that is on the block clearly and the New York Mets are allegedly talking with them per John Haymon. Let’s give it a look. All right, guys. So here we have it. Per John Haymon, the New York Mets are in on Ryan from the Minnesota Twins. Obviously their ace over there. Joe Ryan is one of the top pitchers in baseball at 29 years old. still has two years of control. So, you’re getting a couple of years minimum out of him and then you could sign into an extension after that. But the rumor has it and what was been reported is they want Jonah Tongue in response. And I want to put this out there before anybody kills me. Jonah Tongue for me has yes, the potential to be a number one starter in this league, but how many years down the line is that going to be? We’re not totally sure. So, I’m looking at a mock trade here that I’m pretty confident would land the New York Mets. Joe Ryan, you’re looking at Jonah Tongue, you’re looking at Mark Vientos because clearly Brett Batty is going to be your starting third base if you plan on bringing back Alonzo. There’s going to be no room once again for a guy like Mark Ventos. And then Jacob Rhymer, another infielder projected to be a third base first baseman who’s going to be ready shortly. The number six overall prospect in our in the New York Mets system. So when you look at that, he’s not going to really have a position either with the Mets. Some say he could play a little bit of the corner outfield, but clearly Juan Stole’s taking up right field, and we all project the New York Mets to acquire a big-time left fielder this off season. So let me know what you guys think about this trade down in the comments. Something that’s been getting floated out there. A lot of hate in the comments, but also a lot of people saying, “I would do it. Typically when I see things like that that means it’s a pretty good trade because the people that love to have the blue and orange goggles on always love to sit there and say it’s a terrible trade. The Mets are getting giving up way too much. But then you know obviously people who are on the other side say yeah I’d do anything to get a a frontline starter like a Ryan. And that’s all I got for you guys today. Let me know about these three reports that we brought up to you guys today down in the comments below. 1. If the Mets are in a "win now" situation, which is what everyone keeps saying, then including Tong in a trade to acquire Ryan makes a ton of sense. Because Ryan has two years of control, this actually makes more sense than trading for a one year rental like Skubal. Acquiring Ryan, signing someone like Bellinger or Tucker, signing Diaz and signing Pete puts the Mets in real good shape. LFGM

  2. I like your channel… but hate the click bait… joe ryan is nowhere near an ACE… his best season was last year and he had a 3.42 era… that is not an ace!! the dodgers have 3 starters that all had eras in the 2s last year.

  3. Jonah Tong is untouchable…. you dont trade 22 year old future aces!! sproat fine… not tong… he has higher upside than mclean … Do you consider Nolan Mclean untouchable? i assume so because its recency bias from 8 games. Jonah tong for 2 straight years pitched at the same levels as mclean and was far superior at every level and in some metrics it wasnt even close. that being said i love mclean and think mclean and tong are the only untouchable prospects that we have. Im not giving him up for 2 years of Ryan who is at best a number 2. he had a great season in 25 worth 4.5 war. guess His best war season prior ? its 2.4. Tong has a much higher ceiling than ryan and gives you 6 years of control and could be a 1 or 2 paired with mclean another 1 or 2 for 6 years together. you just sign framber valdez this offseason as your frontline number 2 workhorse and then sign skubal or peralta next year in free agency.

  4. Problem with giving up tong is he absolutely is a top of the rotation guy. And the Mets ARE NOT WINNING this year and strike next year. There goes tong for nothing. I want Ryan on this team. I want Ryan skubal and McLean together but with the strike, and this year a bust idk. Rather anyone besides tong and benge.
