NHL Highlights | Avalanche vs. Islanders – December 4, 2025

295 goals as an Islander. Brock Nelson now on the other side and he takes the opening face off against Matt Barzell. Our puck drop presented by Vander Pharmaceuticals. He doesn’t get many of the headlines anymore in this match up. But what a player he’s turned into. Here is Taves at the line. Arister tipped. T made rebound and Shabanov got it away from a car who had crept in from the blue line. Schaer off the bench. Matthew Schaer trying to get away from Ki Ronto. Gatcom lays it down for Mlan. Wraparound try. Rolled off his stick right to Pock. Let it fly. It’s behind Blackwood. They dig away. They score. No, he didn’t. Now they do. The first one didn’t go in. The light went on and it was Mlan who stayed with it and puts it in. Saying goal after this. How about the fourth line? Go to work. There’s Mlan. Tries to wrap it. The big bomb from the point comes in and uh we might be waiting a minute after this one to see how it sorts up. And Mlan’s the one that stuck with it all the way through there as Jared Jared Bednar looks down at his bench and says, “I don’t know. We might need to take another look at this one.” Cal, could you see anything from down there? I just saw on the replay there a little Mark Gatcom push of the pads and Mackenzie Blackwood while Kyle Mlan was trying to fish that thing out. That might be what they’re looking at as far as the fourth line goes. This is exactly what you want out of this group. I think for the first time this year, you have three guys that are very, very equipped to play on that fourth line. They all play the similar style. And I think that goal is exactly what you would expect out of these three guys, right? He gets shoved a little bit right there. I mean, I don’t want to say we’re rolling dice, but it complicates the equation when you’ve got not just a a potential goalender interference, you’ve got a stick wedged within the goalender. And to cos review, the colony is confirmed. We have a good goal. Oh, lot of defensive benchmark for the game. Oh, Gabe Landis got pops off the bench to argue right away. Sends it across for Marty Nous in stride for McKinnon. NHL point and goal leader made himself a nice shot and a rebound that came through. Sroken able to stop it on the try from Nas and he picks up the puck. Got the pass for Ki. Angelo back. Ki blocker save followed up by Kiri Ra and Siroken tracking it the whole way. Gerard from distance and that one. Oh yeah, Gerard Lanniskar. That shot sailed through the legs of Ross Colton. Then Sroken made the save and now the Islanders try to push it. Threeon two. Barcel trying to turn Landiskov. Quick turn. Hangs onto it. Tried to the seam pass for Lee. He scores. Barcel’s pass was slowed up. It still got through and Anders Lee scores the goal. ties Brock Nelson on the alltime list with number 11 on the ice into existence out of Dzone. That’s Anders Lee right there that gets that thing started. Similar to the other night, Barzel sees a forward back. He wants Lee. Look at him. I want to see. I want to see. I want to see him. Eventually, I’ll find it. That thing’s sort of rolling as well. Andrew Lee. He’s an underrated part of his game. He shoots rolling pucks really at a at a rate that not many other guys do. He catches that one clean. Huge goal. Two nothing lead. Love that pass and Adam Pell driving the middle on that play confusing the Colorado. Now just five away. Picked up his sixth of the season from Matt Barzel during that first period. Dropped off for Nous. Marty Nous to the outside. Got around Shabanov. Lost his footing on a poke check from Pock. Pull to Schaefer. Islanders come out. Schaefer will take the middle of the ice. Kick it to Horvath. Horvette with space. He shoots. Save made. rebound. Horvat again. Shot couldn’t get through. Schaefer turns to the net. Score. Horvath. The put back and it’s a three nothing Islanders lead with a couple saves. But this the young gun Schaefer up the ice. Poor job sorting out from Colorado. But watch this thing continue to pinball around. That was that poor back sequence I was talking about right there. And a smart play from Schaefer just throwing it at the net. It was sort of harmless. There’s the first shot. There’s that puck going back to Horvat. And as he turns around, Schaefer does. Horvat Johnny on the spot. Just keep that puck alive. Right. Hicks. This is what was lacking, I think, in the first three or four games of this home stand. They were having trouble scoring. I think they wanted to do it. Kyle Mlan hits the red line. He’ll float this one in and send after it. Ross Coleman with the puck. A little short pass for Nelson. Anders Lee stopped him from leaving the zone. Barzel hands on for Pel. Pelster. He scores. It went off the cuff of the glove of Blackwood and in a long time coming for Adam Pelock as the Oers now lead by four. Does it really matter? Hey, one thing that remains from this group we talked about Cal a fourchecking group, a group that hunts pucks down. And watch this from Pel activating off the point. It’s an ugly one. It doesn’t really matter. He’s going to take it right there and act like you’ve done it before. How about the celebration Cal from number three? Nothing there. I did put my arms up too here in the box. I quickly put them down. 11 and 12 to go here in the period. Well, you saw Matt Barzell at his first touch of the other zone. Put it on net test the goalie out. Clearly not feeling it. Minsky that shot. They score. Val Nuskin gets a piece of that and after the taken control, Nachus 40 seconds later swings it back to Colorado. Holmstrom with the support, takes it away. Cal Richie, what a move there between his skates. Now hands off for Holstrom. Saved by Blackwood and the rebound cleared out quickly by Burns. What a play by Richie. My goodness, that was something. I mean with Josh Manson. Here we go. Nes slipped around Mayfield. Put it into a good spot and it banked in. Marty Nous. What a play. Colorado responds quickly and get those two goals right back as they eventually go on. There’s Marty Nas. The patience on Siroken waiting, waiting, waiting. And then uh that’s unfortunate as it goes off young Mitchell and in the net and of course it’s going to be their top guys that find their way back into the game. First to Shushkin and now a lucky bounce here for Nas. Islanders continuing with this type of identity. I mean, haven’t seen them play below the goal line this much, but look out now. Taves and Leadin Artur Lechin. Kicked out by Sroen. He’s going to want that one back. Fourth power play of the game for the Islanders. 0 for three with eight shots so far. This power play will take him to the intermission unless they can score first. Barcel moves around Drury. Barcel scores. Five on four. Doesn’t matter. It’s the Met Barcel showing with a power play goal. just taking everything that’s possibly given to him. Nice entry by the Islanders, but watch Matt Barcel at the top as he wiggles up and try to cut the ice in half is Ross Colton. And oh my goodness, I mean it just a beautiful job that overall. So they don’t lose very often and they never lose in regulation, but they’ve only been trailing the start of third period six times this year and they’ve come back to earn a point in five of those six. And then steps back along the wall. McKinnon shoots that one blocked. Snapped the stick in half of Corbat. Meanwhile, the puck comes around for Nius. Here’s Mar stepping in. His shot deflected and knuckled wide. That took the stick out of the hands of Ryan Pullock. Now here’s Mar again. Slides it. They score. Arturi Lechen and off the one time feed from Mar and Colorado gets one early here in the third period. You’re gonna give him five, six feet. He’s going to take much more than that. Watch him shrink the ice. I mean this chance right here. Obviously that’s off a broken stick. Someone go to the bench. Survived it, right? Watch this thing as Mar rolls top left of your screen. That’s not a good look for you. And you get stuck. Yes, a broken stick. Yet someone else needing to go get one themselves. He sells the shot and a beautiful finish there by Lean. Yeah. And just two unfortunate events, but I think the Islanders could have done better job of sorting that out after Bhort and they put a little more risk in their game. How tough it will be to hang on to it as Duclair calling for it. caught it. Here’s Duclair. Denied by Blackwood. And you’re eventually going to find this guy in Anthony Duclair. Watch that play develop. And as the sticks come in in the frame behind Adam Pelic, it’s enough for him to just lay a beauty right there and ended up flat for Anthony Duclair. And that gets pushed off at the end. But that’s something else. I mean, not the prettiest pass, but you just get it there and the degree of difficulty extremely high. That’s right, Dick. Just get it there. And Anthony Duclair, you can see trying to go quick. Five hole and Mayfield out in five. Islanders have gotten through the first part of this. They’ve killed off the penalty against Mayfield. Sikas the steal and the finish. Casey Sikis from the wrong side of center into the empty net. 63 with a minute 15 to go. Bite yet. How about this from Sikas reading the play, patience, waiting to the weeds, and near center of the net on that one. Wasn’t going to miss. Just a great job by him baiting that pass, Cal. Yeah, I can see I had a perfect perfect view of that. Seemed to elevate their play when the big teams come in and just the fact that the Colorado Avalanche entered this game with one regulation loss and things are getting heated. Here we go. Hey,

Mathew Barzal scored a beautiful goal and recorded two assists as the New York Islanders defeated the Colorado Avalanche 6-3 in Brock Nelson’s return to Long Island.

  1. Сумашедший матч 80 бросков на 2 команды это большая редкость,Айлендерс красавцы не спасовали перед лидером!

  2. Looks like my prediction of the Islanders getting 70-75 points this season was incorrect. I also thought Misa would be better this season than Schaefer.

The Metro is the strongest division in the NHL. I thought that Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and the Islanders would all have a decent chance for the first pick to get McKenna. But right now it feels like all 8 teams are going to get at least 80 points.

I really hope that Schaefer doesn't get tired out by the long NHL schedule, because he's fun to watch. I hope that in March and April, he's still got this much energy.

  3. С победой Айленлерс красивая игра и Сорокин молодец.ну и кто там утверждал что у лавин самая лучшая защита.нападение и лучшие вратари что умолкли.даже айлов перед айлами не смогли устоять.
