NHL Highlights | Red Wings vs. Blue Jackets – December 4, 2025

Thank you very much, Stephen Tors. And I’m up here in the booth alone waiting for my partner. I think that he’s going to be running in, but we are underway. And let’s take a look at tonight’s starting lineups brought to you by American Express. Talbot on Delbell Baloo. Here’s Prover shot. Another save is loose. It’s kept out. What a play by Ben Sherro. That puck was headed for the back of the net. Another shot. Score Ivan Prover and Columbus scores the first one. It’s one- nothing. You could tell how close they were and then they just keep pressing and to me that’s what’s impressive here to them. Has it Cers up top de Brink and Larkin excellent power play goal scores Cider to the net. score. Dylan Larkin, the high slot redirection. We’ve talked about what a power play specialist he is. 13 power play goals, 14 power play goals, 16 power play goals the last three seasons. That’s a power play goal to tie the game at one. Proving out of the box and Deon from the bench. This is a more classic power play. The 131 they have set up here and it’s still lurkin all alone in front. Put I love the way he puts his stick out there for a tip. He’s like, “Hey, shoot it right here. I got you. I’m going to tip I’m going to tip this puck up and over the glove of Mers Leakens.” And when you’ve got a box penalty kill, good job by Larkin. Find that softens to Marenko. Power play has not been great this year, especially at home. Marenko shot score. Carell the thrill is back. He’s on the board and he gives Columbus a 2-1 lead with the power play goal [Applause] count and it’s a great faceoff win by Shawn Monahan. They get possession, they get to work and it’s just a little exchange from down low, up high, back to Marenko. Simple play when you get a shot. Calvin’s got to have that one. There’s really there’s no traffic in front of him. So that’s one of those things I think for Detroit. I I guess there’s a little side or maybe an outside screen, but nobody in tight on top of the goalender. Eight straight games without a goal. No more with Lundrom too was so effective for them, especially down the stretch in the third period against the Devils. Cole’s on pace for 56 points. That’d be the second highest total of his career. Turnover Cinger shot saved by Tyler to score. Kent Johnson on the doorstep on the rebound in front of the net and it’s 3-1 Blue [Music] [Applause] and buries the the rebound. You go back to their power play goal just 12 seconds in. That to me was important because it he’s been great on high danger saves this year. Merleans Kane Sandee Pelica out there now. Raymond remains. Shot score. James Van Rey in front. Not sure if he got a piece of it or if it was just that net front presence that Todd McClennon was talking about. It’s going to be Raymond first to the bench. His 10th of the year and it’s 3-2 Columbus. He’s become more of a distributor, but he is the the recipient here of a good good play. You got good shot right here. He’s one of those guys that came in as a shooter. He started to distribute it more. But I love the decision here. Comes to the high slot, sees JVR in front, and that’s a big body in front of Mers Leakens who had made a couple saves. Look, that’s a great angle. Now the Red Wings are set up looking to tie the game. Finny C across shot. James Van Rey played for the Blue Jackets last year, plays for the Wings this year, and he ties the game at three. Two goals in a minute and 12 seconds on the power play. Well, how about three for four on the power play so far for the Detroit Red Wings. Here’s a look. Watch. Watch right there. Elvis does not like JVR right there. Last time he was there, he scored on him and then it goes across and he just keeps jamming at it. The way that Van Remsteike moves out from being a a pest and being a netfront presence in the sense of a screen to backing out, finding the space and presenting his stick for a pass. That’s the what thing you need from the net front. You need to understand when you’re there to create a screen and power play goals has been a story tonight for both teams. Glorinsky Billi score. Holy snikes a booming slap shot. He got all of that. That was quite a one-time from Fantelia. Perfect pass. Watch this. Right off the draw. Mahan, as I said, been great at the draw. Loses the first one, but he wins that one clean. That sets it up. And everyone goes left. The puck goes back right. And then boom, Vantilly just delivers. What a goal. 10th goal of the year for Adam Fantelli. He had no points in four games coming in. Slow start. Then he went on a heater when he was put on the Marenko line. Went cold again as Marenko went out of the lineup. Marenko back in. Fantily back on the board. Here we go. Prov scored in the first. One- nothing after one. Then Larkin Marenko power play goals. Kent Johnson even strength Raymond power play. Van Reignike power play kick save rebound. Two save by Makkins. Here’s a look at some of Elvis Mleens work here early in the third period. Good early save and then looking lively and well positioned for that second chance opportunity. 16-1 in favor of Columbus on the hits as Patrick Kane has room. Kane shot scorer goal 496 for Patrick Kane who ties the game at four. Long stretch and how about this? You get a change, right? So that’s a perfect time to change. You got offensive zone time, a little breather while the puck’s there and Patrick Kane’s a guy who comes on fresh legs takes advantage of career game 1321 for the 37y old fourth goal of the year. And you’re talking about his goals. Really what Patrick Kane’s good at is distributing to break it. Scores and the Wings have the lead five to four. What you take notice of and these two together they have an incredible chemistry going back to the Chicago days together. Patrick Kane does a good job of getting on site and then he comes in and imagine. So you’re the defenseman here, right? You got Dinka coming across. You’ve got Patrick King coming the other way and cop excuse me as a defenseman. He’s got Fanty right behind him on his strong side. Face off though. Won nicely there by the Wings. Comes to Winsky. Columbus set up to tie the game. Fanty shot. Score. We are tied in Columbus. Watch this off the face off. It is a great play by Shawn Monahan. You said it was a win by the Wings. Van Tilly jumps on the loose and then that puck. So many bodies in front of Talbot and Fanty does a good job getting to this space recognizing and then it goes off the defenseman there. Went off Johansson. Yes, good good eyes AJ. That went straight down the ice and beat Talbet 5. A five power play goal second period combined for both teams. One more chance. London out and 60 minutes ends with a five tie. Detroit Monahan, Warensky and Marenko. That opening face off of overtime so important and Larkin wins it. Severson trying to kill some time and that’s going to do it. We’re going to go to a shootout in Columbus. [Music] Got to close your five hole if you’re Cam Talbot against Kent Johnson. Let’s see where he goes. Extra move. [Music] what you expect out of a player and you they love to go five hole or whatever it is and if you’re a goalender by the way you know that he’s got to score here or Columbus will have two chances to win either a goal or another save Raymond on Morris Leakans fiery play both good and bad and here he is he comes across you can see that Lucas Raymond’s trying to from Mars Lincoln Marenko 67% he’s got mits of marinara plenty of filth in his game to win the game for Columbus [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] here tonight and watch us eyes up the whole way you for a goalender. He thinks he’s coming in. He freezes Cam Talbot and then just dishes it little bit of five hole right on the ice. You mentioned that’s we expected to see from Kent Johnson. He’s even out a little bit further. He’s at the at the hash marks. [Music]

Adam Fantilli scored twice, Zach Werenski tallied three assists, and Kirill Marchenko buried the deciding goal in the shootout to lead the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 6-5 win over the Detroit Red Wings.

  1. Todd McLellan's OT lineups (after a game where Kane/Cat were dominant, the Wings led 4-0 w Kane on the ice, and the two had both scored in the 3rd to force OT in the first place):

    Larkin – Raymond
    Compher – DeBrincat
    Kane – Finnie

    Todd McLellan's shootout lineup:

    James van Riemsdyk
    Lucas Raymond
??? (presumably Kane – we will never know, will we?)

    Fire this man.

  2. Ha ha ha the chick announcer sounds sooo dumb ……. like to go 5 hole or what ever it is …….. how can anyone have any respect for this persons insight WHEN THEY NEVER PLAYED IN THE LEAGUE LOL

  3. Red Wings GM has to put a package together were Mo is the main piece for Q. Hughes. Anyone that disagrees is just a Mo fan that has to wake up and get real for once. Facts.

  4. Марченко появился , и сразу игра веселей пошла у Коламбуса . Такие качели устроили . Но , выиграли . Молодцы

  5. Columbus just can't get out of their own way. Multi-goal lead? Penalties and turtling, let the other team come right back into the game with momentum. If this team could just finish games, they'd be solidly in a wild card spot at least.

  6. Detroit🏀 Red Wings is now my favorite hockey team because Detroit, Michigan makes me think of Iran 🇮🇷 because of comic book characters Spawn and Astaroth in Soul Calibur.

  7. They clearly have never watched a blue jackets game and have no idea what Kent likes to do especially in the shoot out his Last 3 attempts have bassically been that move.
