Windy suggests the Knicks should have IMMEDIATELY MET about trading for Giannis šŸæ | Get Up

Bus and boys are back. The regular Thursday crew is here. We have a few tricks up our sleeve this morning as well. But before we get to the crazy football and the Cowboys tonight, we got to get to the bottom of what happened yesterday with Giannis first in the afternoon and then in the evening with this Giannis suffering a right calf strain and all the details in a moment on that. On the same day that ESPN reported he is mulling his future with the Bucks, Giannis and his agent are in ongoing conversations with the organization discussing whether his best fit is in Milwaukee or elsewhere. All that while he’s walking off the court looking like this. First, let’s hear from coach Doc Rivers. The conversations Giannis is having with the team about his future and whether or not it should be here in Milwaukee or elsewhere. So, here we go again. There’s been no conversations. And I want to make it clear just for the I would say one more time, but for the 50th time, he clearly is not getting the one network for sure. Uh Giannis has never asked to be traded ever. I can’t make that more clear. I go to the source. I talk to the source every single day. Every single day. And he loves Milwaukee and he loves the Bucks. So, there’s all of that and then there is this man, Brian Winhorse, the wind man with the iconic skyline of Omaha, Nebraska behind him. Let’s get let’s unpack all of this if we can. Wendy, let’s start with the injury because while all this is going on, Sham’s report yesterday and then Doc saying what he said last night. Giannis is lying on the ground with a non-cont injury to his lower leg. What do we know? Yeah. So, very good news here. The Bucks have ruled out an Achilles injury. This is obviously very concerning to see. He immediately had an MRI last night to determine the severity of what they have called a calf strain. This is very similar to the injury almost at the exact same spot on the floor he had two years ago, which cost him the playoffs. So, hopefully he’s avoided a major strain here, but there’s a possibility he could miss some time. And the Bucks uh actually responded with their best win of the season last night, beating the Detroit Pistons without him at home. They had been 1 and5 this season when Giannis didn’t play. So they had had a team meeting before this game and they rallied. Now in the in the wake of the Sham’s report yesterday as you as you canvas the league a little bit. There is certainly curiosity about whether Giannis will push the envelope here because he has done this before where he has talked to the Bucks about uncertainty with his future. And even in the summer, Shams reported back in October, back in August, he approached the Bucks about the possibility of being traded to the New York Knicks. And the Bucks and the Knicks had several weeks of trade discussions about it. Now, Doc can say with a straight face that there was no trade demand, and I think that that’s true. He didn’t demand it. However, those discussions were not the Buck’s idea, I assure you. And they sort of whistled past the graveyard because they had made a summer full of, you know, gutsy moves to keep him. And so now the question is, will Giannis, especially with this injury, look to take it to the next level and make a full-blown trade demand, or will he give the Bucks more time? For those who don’t know it in their heads, he’ll be 31 years old later this week. So, still younger than I think a lot of people realize he is. If if indeed trade talks do start going do start taking place in a serious way, would it be the Knicks who’ be looking at who would be the other usual suspects to to be looking at? Yes, absolutely, Greenie, because he discussed the Knicks in August. He showed an interest there. If I were the New York Knicks, as soon as I heard about this, I would have had a meeting. I talked to other teams yesterday that did immediately schedule meetings to talk about whether they would make an offer. The Knicks would potentially be on Giannis’s list if he went this, but the feel would be that Giannis might expand it. And the reason that Giannis’s opinion would matter here, he only has one year left on his contract that’s guaranteed. He has a player option after ne after next season. So, because he’s only got one guaranteed year left, he would probably have a role in directing where the Bucks might send him. Again, this is relying on the idea that he would progress to actually asking for a trade, which he’s rattled the saber before, including over the summer. But like Doc said, he has not taken that step yet, and the Bucks certainly hope he does not. Is there any way of even guessing what a timeline on this process might look like? Well, I think that everybody here wants some clarity within the next couple of weeks and whether Giannis is going to be committed to the Bucks for the season or he would like to be traded. And the key date to circle is December 15th. That is when all the players for the most part who were signed last summer can be traded every year. December 15th is the unofficial start of NBA trade season. So between now and then pending this injury situation. I think the Bucks and Giannis would hope to have clarity on whether he’s remaining invested or not. All right. So that’s a week and a half away. So we’ll keep a very close eye on all of that. Wendy, we miss you. It is great to see you again and we will see you soon. And if there are any further developments on Giannis’s injury this morning, we’ll have them immediately. 1. There is no good way to get this done. The only way the Bucks accept the trade is if the Knicks give away so much that the team is just Brunson, Giannis and a bunch of scrubs, and then he's in a worse situation than he's in now. It just doesn't add up. Two good players don't make you a contender, there is more to basketball than that.

  2. Giannis is a proven all-time great. What are the chances the Knicks ever land a player of that caliber, even with all their first-round picks?

  3. Man we’ll
Lose with what we got since ppl think we not good enough , he want to come here we not bout to give up everything cause he sick of losing šŸ¤·šŸ¾

  4. Not a fan of LeBron or Giannis. LeBron built a legacy (ā€˜King James’) but relies on physicality; Giannis (ā€˜Greek Freak’) lacks durability and scoring polish. Giannis loses to older stars in his prime; LeBron adapts but declines. Giannis’ loyalty over winning hurts his legacy. Knicks should chase Jokić—elite IQ, durability, and team impact—not Giannis. Jokić + a defensive anchor (like Bam) fixes the Knicks. Stats back it: Hart/Jokić made history. GO NY!

  5. Not a fan of Giannis Antetokounmpo. Here’s why:
Names & Branding: LeBron at least owns the ā€œKing Jamesā€ legacy. Giannis shares his surname with his brothers (even plays with one), and ā€œGreek Freakā€ doesn’t scream dominance—especially when injuries derail him combined with the losing streaks.

Playstyle: Both rely too much on physicality over skill. Giannis’s knee issues highlight durability concerns. LeBron adapted (shooting, playmaking); Giannis still struggles with shooting/Passing in his prime!?

Prime vs. Legacy: Giannis, in his prime, loses to aging stars (e.g., Jimmy Butler) and Eastern Conference rivals (Celtics, Knicks, and Cavaliers). LeBron’s longevity is impressive, but his ā€œbully ballā€ era is fading naturally.

Business Savvy: LeBron understands legacy-building (The Decision, team-hopping). Giannis’s supermax loyalty to Milwaukee feels naive—winning matters more.

For the Knicks? Jokić is the ideal target—elevates teams, unmatched IQ, and durability!!! Giannis is still raw in key areas. Jokić + a defensive anchors would solidify the Knicks’ core. Ultimately, Jokic is less likely to fail due to his strong loyalty and focus on winning, whereas Giannis's future is more uncertain due to the complexities of his contract situation and past statements.
Stats don’t lie: Hart and Jokić are historic company. GO NY!"

  6. I’ve never been a fan of LeBron or Giannis. First, their surnames are off-putting (though ā€˜King James’ at least has weight). Giannis shares his name with his brothers and plays alongside one—how is he ā€œthe manā€ if he’s ā€œThe Greek Freakā€ with durability issues? Second, their playstyles rely too much on physicality over skill (Giannis’ knee problems prove it). Third, Giannis is in his prime but can’t surpass aging stars (like losing to Jimmy Butler in 2023), while LeBron at least adapted his game for longevity.

Giannis’ loyalty to Milwaukee is admirable, but his lack of business savvy in the NBA is glaring—wits matter more than blind loyalty. Meanwhile, LeBron’s career moves (The Decision, returns, diversification) show strategic thinking.

If I’m the Knicks, I’d prioritize culture fit and a franchise cornerstone—Nikola Jokić (pure dominance, elite IQ, elevates teams) over Giannis, who’s still refining his game in his prime. Jokić carried Denver’s championship run with a deep roster—something the Knicks lack (they need an elite backup guard and defensive anchor). Plus, Jokić’s loyalty and winning focus make him a safer bet than Giannis’ uncertain future.

Fun fact: Josh Hart just joined Jokić as the only players in NBA history with 45+ rebounds, 25+ assists, 10+ steals, and 5+ threes over four games while keeping turnovers low. GO NEW YORK!

  7. You don't gut your team for Giannis. Giannis is playing on a gutted team, and they stink. The Knicks should only give up KAT, a bench player and picks for Giannis. OG and Hart must be untouchables.

  8. Trading the whole farm for one player has literally NEVER worked in the history of the NBA. How do these analysts get paid to be so foolish????

  9. NOOOOOOOOOOOO!

With Giannis out for almost a month; that means my worst nightmare is in the East likely will happen yet again. The Chicago Bulls will end up claiming the last plan-in spot; just like what happened in the last 3 years.

  10. Can everyone stop the speculations. He also mentioned he wanted to fornthe Heat as well as the Warrior's., now tye Knicks. Let's just wait for Shams to announce it. He will be the first to know.

  11. Some say that the trade didn't work at first because they wanted to add Kuzma to the trade , but at the end of the day , the Spurs have drafts and are the closest to take him .
But if the Knicks don't call , and Giannis wants only the Knicks , OG , Mitch and Pacome plus who knows how many Second rounds will be the only stuff the knicks will accept
