‘I Still Feel Like I Got My Game’: Frederik Andersen, Jordan Staal, Rod Brind’Amour On Loss To Maple Leafs

  1. “**On if he feels like he hasn’t really gotten any lucky breaks as of late:** Yeah.” Poor Zilla, man

  2. Staal hit it on the head. Hard to win games scoring 1 goal. Freddie could have let in only 2 goals and we still wouldn’t have won that game.
We scored 1 against Calgary, 2 against NY and 1 against Buffalo. We have to have more offense.

  3. Here come the Freddie apologists to defend him when he performs terribly instead of holding him accountable

  4. This was probably the first game where I actually felt like he played badly. The other games he’s been not great, but he’s been okay.

It is also harder to play goalie from behind because you have to be perfect to keep them in the game.

Gotta ride the hot hand, though. Bussi has separated himself the last couple starts, IMO.

  5. There has got to be a bug running through this team. I was at the game tonight and whenever lines came off the ice they looked absolutely gassed on the bench.

  6. Freddie is done. He looks old as shit out there. Doesn’t matter if we only scored 1. 4 goals on 16 shots at any point is fucking awful. He’s slow and it shows

  7. I can dismiss a goal or two, or a game or two, but it’s become pretty noticeable when Freddie is on the ice. I don’t mean this facetiously, I pretty much expect him to give up 2 goals in his first 5 SOG – I actually struggle to remember the last time he didn’t. Usually it seems after these 2 goals in 5 shots, he plays fine, but it’s a struggle to recover from that.

He’s lost 7 starts in a row (0-5-2) and even his most recent win (a month ago against Minnesota), he gave up 3 goals in his first 5 shots and the Canes just managed to put up 4.

With the Canes being 16-8-2 and Freddie being 5-7-2 it’s hard to not look at him. These losses are definitely not all on him, but he’s clearly performing below average. He’s got a career low SV% (.875) and GAA (3.15).

  8. I know people hate Rod’s “stick with the vets” mentality, and I get it. But a guy with Freddie’s track record just fundamentally deserves more of a runway. It’s been assmuffins, but I’m not ready to throw in the towel quite yet.

    That’s just my opinion.

  9. Not exactly the thing you want to hear coming out of a 5-1 blowout

If your Game is allowing 4 goals to a mid table team… that ain’t NHL level game.

We need Kooch to come back, if only cause then we can bench Freddy for a bit and let him get over whatever is wrong with him. he’s in his own head and he’s not only moving poorly but making bad decisions.

  10. He’s going to get ‘hurt’ and go to the IR to take a break, it’s so obvious haha. But usually he’s good when he comes back so we’ll see.
