This sub is just brain broken after that last loss. First Mike Tomlin possibly isn’t a HOF coach, now TJ Watt is good because his fake stats are better than arguably the best defensive player this year.
Sheesh.
Props to WIl Anderson, who has made that Texans D run. I thought that was a great splash when they traded up for him right after landing CJ. It sent a message.
You need to lead the league in chip blocks and TJ is way ahead!
This is secretly a Nick Herbig post and I’m here for it
I have two eyes.
Very interesting that these stats almost even correlate negatively with success. The top 6, besides maybe the Texans who are a middling team, are all bad teams this year.
Then further down the list you start getting better teams like the Packers, Rams, Seahawks, Lions, Bears.
Seems like it could be a case study on why putting massive amounts of money into edge rushers isn’t a winning strategy?
Can’t believe people still defend the 41million dollar invisible man.
This is even worse than PFF. How can a team have two players on the same defense in the top 6 that are supposedly impacting games, but they are on one of the worse defenses in the NFL? It doesn’t even make sense. Where is this data from?
So we have reached the level of “almost stats” that Myles is famous for.
Great….
Sweet! The TJ Watts are the number two seed in Total EPA. When do the playoffs start for that?
Of course. Was this debated?
The coping on this lol these numbers clearly don’t reflect what is needed to win games. EPA was bogus when they used it for Garrett and it’s bogus now lol
lol. Myles Garrett is still better. I love TJ but he definitely took a step back this year
Two things can be simultaneously true. TJ Watt is not the automatic world beater that he was 5 years ago, is clearly regressing, and threatens to be an expensive albatross contract in a few years. TJ Watt is, in 2025, one of the best defensive players in the NFL, leads the team both in the locker room and by example on the field, and is not the problem with this team.
Surprised Parsons isn’t on here.
TJ has sucked this year. Looks slow, missed tackles and sacks , low effort.
To be paid what TJ’s being paid he definitely needs to have more sacks. Not saying he’s not impactful in other areas, but I still maintain that a top paid pass rusher should have top sack numbers.
Jesus Watt only has 6 sacks this year so far 😵💫
Just to repeat…
Garrett got the vast majority of his sacks in 3 games. Raiders, Ravens, Patriots.
Geno Smith and Drake Maye are two of the most sacked QBs in the NFL this year(#2 and #3 respectively).
If you don’t include the game against the Browns both guys are still in the same positions.
What I’m learning from these stats is that having a great Edge defender is amongst the most overrated things in football
I don’t blame TJ, when OC’s fully game plan a player to take them out of games that says something. I blame the DC and HC because the amount of attention TJ gets should make everyone else’s job easier and they aren’t getting the job done.
I dont think Watt’s bad, he just isn’t insanely superhuman. He’s just superhuman. All good, but I really, REALLY worry that his new contract is going to mean we have to let Herbig walk when his contract is up
Garrett is having a year and no one should take that from him. Wish the same was afforded to TJ.
Dope stats! Now if we could just translate the stats into wins……
Stats lie. TJ is washed. watch the tape.

It’s feast or famine. They are making big plays occasionally, and giving up a LOT of 3rd and long conversions. It may be recency bias, but it seems like there is not a 3rd down distance that a team cannot convert against the Steelers. 3rd and 12? 3rd and 17? 3rd and 8? I have very little confidence in their ability to get a stop. The crazy thing is that often times they play really good defense on first and second down, forcing the 3rd and longs and they just cannot get stops. Then the offense can’t sustain any sort of drive and the defense is back out there for 10+ plays again because: see above.

TJ Watt is finally leading the league in hypothetical stats! He can finally win DPOY again!
We mocked EPA when Garret was a the top, let’s face it Garret is the absolute best defensive player this year, he’s unblockable
Nerd stats. Sack number low me mad
No way in hell TJ Watt is more valuable than Myles Garrett this year lmao

Also – should give credit… this was post by Matt Williamson on X. He posts really insightful analytics and def knows ball
Myles might be having a better year than tj has ever had. Hurts me to say it
This is quite literally what browns fans did to “justify” MG winning DPOY lol please stop
But side note, let’s go Herbig 👀
