The part that people are missing with Slay is that he doesn’t actually want to retire.
He wants to join the Eagles but the Bills have all the leverage.
Buffalo has all of the upper hand but will they risk damaging their reputation with Rosenhaus and players across the league just to make a point?

Nah fuck him the bills are one of the best teams in the NFL over the past 5 years if he doesnt want to be here hes not playing anywhere
They can release him week 18.
Isn’t this precisely the point that needs to be made? Don’t fuck around and find out. Make your intentions clear.
Ok, but they can’t do anything unless be signs. Rn, if he doesn’t sign, he can’t resign with anyone but the Steelers until after the season’s over.
Does he take up a spot on the 53 if he doesn’t report?
Is anybody actually missing that part? I thought this was a very obvious situation to everyone.
What’s the benifit of sticking it to slay just because ?
If Slay can’t wait a few months on the Bills roster before he goes back to the Eagles, he can wait on the couch
What damage to their reputation would they have? It would be silly to let go of his rights to someone they could possibly (but not likely) see in February.
I read that we can go after the bonuses that Pittsburgh’s already paid him on a 1yr/$10m deal… so I hope we go after it. F’ it, Beane desperately needs a win, since he cant find any with the roster maybe a couple million of Rooney’s dollars makes Terry keep Beane around awhile longer lol
Damaging their reputation with Rosenhaus?
What a stupid take/post. And what a hugely blown outbof proportion situation.
Hold his rights and force him to retire. Fuck that
Damaging their reputation? Fuck right off with that noise. That’s a plant if I’ve ever seen one.
Plus, if we release him he goes right back on waivers so what’s to stop an NFC team from doing the same thing.
Just retire Slay. We’ve already nuked our CB depth on this mess, you’re in the shit with us whether you like it not!
And what benefit do we get by releasing him? Is Rosenhaus gonna help us get cheaper deals? We already lost Ingram, force him to retire.
Damaging their reputation by following the CBA? lol
If Rosenhaus is really playing hard ball like that after we just released our CB depth to pick this bum up, I hope the Bills stick it to both of them. Fuck Drew, probably a slimey agent anyways (yes I know he’s the biggest agent there is)
Who’s missing this? Pretty obvious.
Beane needs to go full Vecna
There is too much going on this season.
I don’t think Slay is worth all of this at this point.
If this was his intention, why would him and his agent not leak to the press that he would retire if it wasn’t the Eagles? This whole situation would have been avoided.
I don’t understand why claiming a player off waivers would damage the team’s relationship with said player’s agent?
That’s how waivers work. If Slay wants to go back to Philly so badly, he should have said so upon his release. Too fucking bad bro.
Also, wouldn’t that mean he goes on the reserve/retired list (or whatever it’s called)? Basically IR for old ass players that can’t decide if they’re ready to give up on playing.
As far as im concerned Darius Slay can fuck off lol.
Don’t know how it damages the Bills reputation to not release him again. It’s their right to claim a player coming through on waivers. It’s tampering if teams contact players or their representation during the waiver process.
What a loser
Eagles I noticed you have acquired multiple draft picks and potentially some draft compensatory picks. How about a swap were we give you gives us a earlier pick in a round in exchange for one ours later in the round.
Their reputation? How about his reputation
He needs to get over himself and suit up, guy signed with PIT in the first place I don’t want to hear it
I seriously doubt Rosenhaus would rid all business associated with the Bills on a near to retirement player when he has tons of clients. This one might hurt but he should be encouraging Slay to give it a chance and see how it goes playing. Who knows maybe another Super Bowl 🤷♂️. Going to the Eagles wasn’t a guarantee. Who knows if they would have taken him. A crazy scenario would be him not wanting to be in Buffalo because he wants to go to Philly and Philly ends up not wanting him at all and or picks up someone else… honestly Fack him and let him go but have him forfeit his money from the Bills.
It’s $350K to keep him the rest of this season. It’s a drop in the bucket whether he plays or not.
If he didn’t realize McDermott was salivating at the prospect of working with a savvy zone corner with declining man coverage skills that he could scheme around, that’s on him. Man’s gotta know ball.
The bigger thing is if he really don’t wanna play for the bills, he’s gonna not even put his heart into it so we don’t need that negative energy. screw him.
Wait the Bills can force him to pay back guarantee money they have not paid him? If he was claimed and doesn’t report what payback leverage do the Bills actually have for money paid by the Steelers? Nah, that can’t be right.
Who’s Mike Bundt?
Fuck around with the bull and get the horns. Can’t wait to see how this plays out. Have fun in retirement 🤘🏻
Let him join the eagles. We’re going to destroy them when we play. And screw Rosenbum. He’s an agent that doesn’t care about the Bills organization AT ALL. Not in the business to do agents Favors.
Imagine not wanting to play on a team that has Josh Allen for the last 5 games of the regular season and the post season. With Joey bosa on the d line
Enjoy retirement
