Celtics get the biggest win in the NBA this year, a 45point demolition, absolute complete destruction of the Washington Wizards who were missing a bunch of guys. So, not only are the Wizards bad, they were missing the few good players that they have really and uh that showed. Later on, I’ll get to the Raptors, what they did, and why the Celtics should absolutely be thanking them. We’ll talk about Anthony Simons a little bit on the a negative side. Although he did get hot in this game, just one of the things I didn’t like, the few things I didn’t like. Uh but let’s start with the just a very typical blowout. This is uh you know, very much good team. Celtics are a good team. Uh I don’t know how good, but they’re good. They’re not bad. They’re better than average, so they’re good. beating a bad team. They they beating a bad team. Uh take a lead early, make it look kind of easy. They they were so casual about the early lead. Jordan Walsh was getting steals. They were getting some like leakouts and they they were playing fine. And you know, just casual. And so they gave up too many offensive rebounds and the Wizards were sticking around. The Celtics made another push and the Wizards stuck around. They got it to 17 in the second quarter. Then it was seven at halftime and then they unleashed holy hell in the second half where it was I think what was the 80 I tweeted it out I had to find it was they outscored them 80 to 42 80 to 42 in the second half alone. So in the most general sense Celtics went in and did exactly what they had to do. And you know, as is the case in these games, the minutes tend to be the best statistics that you can find. Only Pton Pritchard played more than 30 minutes. So that’s great. Derek White played 20, less than 29. Jaylen Brown sat this out, which is fantastic. We talked about this on the P podcast yesterday. They made it official on Thursday afternoon. Derek uh Jaylen Brown was out with the illness, quote unquote illness. Um, so he will probably be fine. I assume he’s going to be fine for the Lakers game and you get uh 29 minutes from Jordan Walsh, you get 20 for Hower, you get 25 for Simons and a lot of that was garbage. So these guys didn’t play a lot uh in in this game. They shot well. They 20 of 47 from three. They they did all the things that they had to do. They walked into Washington, they they kind of smoked him. And Derek White, this is the I knew somebody was going to have a get-right game in this one. Derek was the guy. 30 points, nine assists, seven rebounds. He shot 57%, 42% almost from three. And the one thing I’ve been waiting for for Derek White is to build on these games. So, I want to see like this is good. This is un unquestionably good. And Derek has been playing better lately, although his shot has been kind of in and out the past few games, but Derek has been in, you know, generally speaking, he’s been himself in other areas of the game. And the nine assists, seven rebounds, the steel, uh, he did not get a block in this one, but he did hit his 10,000th three-pointer of his career, which is nice. He’s putting a, you know, more typical Derek White season together. Now, let’s see the shot start to fall a little bit more consistently. I want to see Now, he’s not going to shoot 57% and 42% from three uh all the time, but can can you get to the high 40 to 50% shooting on a more regular basis? Can you get to the 37 to 40% three-point shooting on a more regular basis? He’s going to be a more high volume guy, which always leads to more high variance when you’re a three-point shooter. But can you get to just that little bit more consistency? The Celtics have been consistently like putting little bits together all season long. They’ve they continue to improve and you know, look, they’re they’re the fifth seed now. Uh it I don’t really like talking about seeds before Christmas, but they’re 13 and nine. They’re coming out of the stretch in much better shape than I thought they would. Remember I I I think what I was saying uh when they came out of like I was hoping they would come out of the Lakers game somewhere above like can they can they be 500 by the time they get out of this stretch and they get into this few weeks of a game three days off a game three days off. Can can they just survive? They’re better than survive. They’re 13 and nine. They’ve got more wins than Orlando, Philly, Cleveland, Milwaukee, um Chicago. I think maybe the people thought the Celtics were going to be in Chicago’s class uh for most of the season. So, they’re right there four games out of first. They’re they’re in the mix. So, can can Derek White be uh the more consistent player that that we’re hoping that he can be? like Payton Pritchard, you know, has been a little bit more consistent, but his shot didn’t fall exactly the way he wanted it to in this game. 20 points, eight assists, six rebounds, though a steal. He was he was still pretty good. Like, and there were stretches, you know, Derek had a stretch early, Pton had a stretch in the second quarter, then Derek came back. Jordan’s stretch in the in the second quarter was just mindblowing, man. This guy is just I cannot begin to express how like we’re at the point where this is like shocking the the turnaround. And I know people this is, you know, my favorite least favorite thing that people do because it’s like there’s no room for somebody improving. If you’re if you’re a Jordan Walsh fan or an Nish Kada fan or a fan of like Jaylen Brown, like the the improvements that guys make aren’t improvements. They’re just it was always there. You just didn’t see it or they just never got the opportunity. It’s never an actual improvement, which is actually giving the guy more credit, you know, than just saying it was always there. Give the guy the credit for putting in the work. like saying that Jordan Walsh improved. If you’re sitting there saying no, no, no, he was always this good. Then no, he wasn’t always this good and he’ll tell you he wasn’t always this good. He is this good now because of the hard work and the confidence that he’s getting set after the game. You know, the confidence is a huge part of this. Let’s talk about that because his second quarter stretch was I think where this game changed. I know that the second half was as dominant as it was, but once again, Jordan Walsh comes in and changes the game. It has a statline that we haven’t seen since Kevin McCale. We’ll talk about it when we come back. Today’s show is brought to you by Door Dash. The season is heating up. So, your Celtics die hard become an everyday here and you will uh hopefully I just want to make this more fun and enjoy uh this together and and who cannot have fun watching Jordan Walsh. The Jordan Walsh party is raging on. Listen, I’ve talked about the Jordan Walsh party. I talked about how it was 11 o’clock and I was ready to leave in the last podcast or the podcast before that. I said, “Nope. You know what? Now it’s one 1:00 am and the DJ is rocking is playing all your favorite songs. Now it seems like this party is going to go till till sunrise. All of a sudden, you went from or I went from ah maybe I feel like going home to second wind. Let’s party. Let’s keep this going. Oh, you’re shutting this down. We’re going to find a new place to go. We’re going to an afterparty on Jordan Walsh. That’s how good he’s been playing. The second quarter that in this game, that stretch where he came in and again kind of changed the game. Uh the and one uh the uh uh he had a layup uh a dunk off of a steel. Uh he assisted on a three-pointer, he hit a three-pointer, he had he got himself up to 13 points uh pretty quickly. One off of his careerhigh halfway through the quarter. He ends up with his first ever 20point game. Obviously a careerhigh since his careerhigh was 14. But you know, the steals, the chase down blocks, the footwork, the the speed, the yes, he’s got the reach, right? But he the most impressive thing with Walsh I think has been he’s he is straight ripping guys. I don’t know if people understand how hard this is to do. Normally you get steals there’s you know the Celtics do a great kind of like run and jump. guy turns his back and they they from behind they come and rip it or um you know a double team or jump in a passing lane. It is very difficult to just check a guy one-on-one and then poke poke the ball free and to do it in a way where first of all you’re not fouling. Second of all, you’re the timing of it is just perfect. I I I don’t know what has gotten into him. Maybe it’s just one of those you needed time and some things clicked and sometimes it’s just you get that take a breath, the confidence is there and you’re just like, “Okay, no, I can do this.” And it’s like riding a bike or juggling or hula hoop. Once you figure out like, “Okay, no, no, no. I can do this.” And you just calm down. You focus on it. You do it. You’re like, “Oh, this isn’t that hard at all.” Jordan is checking guys straight up. They’re going to dribble. And he times it. He just pokes it. They’re going this way. The ball’s going that way. Sorry for hitting my microphone. The ball’s going that way. and Jordan just zips right past them and gets a breakaway. That is very difficult to do on a consistent basis. That’s something that all defensive players do. Now, Jordan’s not going to make an alldefensive team this year, I don’t think. But hey, if the Celtics continue on this pace and he’s uh defending at this level and national broadcasts, national media starts looking at be like, you know, this dude is really he’s really putting up some numbers, the steals, the breakaways, all that stuff. And those guys, they start listening to this podcast, right? Like a lot of the national people listen to this podcast and other podcasts like this and we start talking about this stuff and they pick up on it that the momentum can start to build for people to be like, “Hey, you know what? This Jordan Walsh is really a highlevel defender.” Now, that won’t probably won’t get him onto an alldefense team this year still, but all of these awards are like a year late. So, if Jordan keeps doing this and the momentum starts to build, next season he’ll come in and start to get that reputation. And what happens when you get that reputation, the refs start to say like, well, this dude in in a in a bang bang play, you have that mental like, well, he’s so good at this. I don’t think that he fouled. Even if you get a little bit of contact, suddenly the fouls that still tend to plague him a little bit, he gets that on a 50/50 call, he gets that benefit of the doubt. So Jordan Walsh’s defense, just keep doing this, man. Just keep doing this. Keep playing with this confidence. This was just sublime stuff. And again, I know it’s the Wizards. And not just the Wizards, like the worst half of the Wizards. No disrespect to CJ McCollum or Chris Middleton. Uh but you know, this is there’s only so much you can do. I kind of feel bad for those guys kind of wasting away on on that team, but it is what it is, man. That’s that’s NBA life. Sometimes you end up on a bad bad team to end your career. So Walsh Walsh’s run in the second quarter kind of changed everything. Now they got a lead up to 17 and it got whittleled down to seven. I I don’t really care about that necessarily. That was they they went into halftime, they got their heads on straight, they came out, they stopped they stopped giving up offensive rebounds and second chances, they started playing better defense just overall. They started running out a little bit more and they were hitting shots and and then Derek was just awesome like I said before in the third uh and and they they they ran away with it. But Josh, I mean I’m sorry, Jordan was was incredible. But then you get Josh and Ugo and and Neimi. Like all of those guys deserve their fair share of the credit here too because those they have all had their own stretches. Like Kada 17 points, four rebounds, two assists, four block shots. The progress just from this season and and Scowl was talking about it on the broadcast where Mimi is playing faster. He’s just playing at a He’s making the decisions faster. He’s getting in and out of the screens faster, but he’s going up with the ball faster. Look at him from a year ago. And I know there’s a lot of Nimish Kada fans here and people who have given me a lot of crap for for being down. No doubt being down on Kada. Like I’ve had to come around on Kada. But the reason I’ve come around is because he has improved tremendously from this point last year when he was bringing the ball way down. There was a play, I think it was the dunk early in the game, second quarter maybe. There was no way he was making that play last year. No chance because he was in and out of the screen. He got the ball. He went right up with it. And last year he I don’t even know if he rolls. I don’t if he if that timing even gets to a point where he catches the ball. But even if he did catch the ball, that thing would have been down at his knees guaranteed. And now he’s keeping that ball up. It It was the number one thing I was asking for last year. He came around, he learned it, and he’s been great with it. That he he doesn’t bring the ball way down anymore. Massive improvement. And I think the one thing that I didn’t give him enough leeway for was how much he could improve over, you know, last year to this year. He I I figured he would improve some, but this level of improvement is super impressive. And, you know, I didn’t see this much coming. He was he’s been really really good. uh May not has settled into this role where you know now now he’s coming off the bench he’s still hitting threes he’s still like he two of five in this one he’s 40 plus percent from three this year that shot does not look like it should go in 40% of the time but it does so you know that’s and then Ugo the incredible instincts from this kid that chase down block from him even though the Wizards ended up scoring on that uh on a real nice pass uh who was it Vousvich that um through the Vauv Vauvich. I don’t know this kid, but he’s a young kid that made a great pass. But anyway, regardless, the chase down block, the defense from Ugo, he has some things to learn. And also, shout out to Scowl for asking the question. I was asking this question at the beginning of the season. With the with the lull in games coming up, like three days off, this an opportunity to let Ugo go to Maine and play a game or two and play 35 minutes and go spread your wings and play basketball. Just go play basketball. If for nothing else, just reward the kid with an opportunity to just go play 35 minutes of unencumbered basketball. Like, just go let him play. I think I think I mean, he’s he plays now, but he’s in a in a specific role. Just go let him play. Uh, I never thought that we’d be in any game, regardless of the Wizards and regardless of how short-handed they are. I never thought we would be in any game where I was talking about Jordan Walls changing things. Uh, Uo Gonzalez making key plays, my not hitting big threes. It’s unbelievable. And and that’s really the most important thing that Celtics should have gotten from this season. Now you look at Walsh and Minot and Ugo and and Nimi and you’re like, “Wow, like they’re they didn’t just hit on one or two of these guys. They’re hitting on all of them.” Like maybe Luca Garza is not a hit. Okay, then if that’s the one that doesn’t hit, then amazing, amazing to have that level of success and it’s like a minimum contract. So good luck Luca Garza. Like I’m sorry, but good luck. Um, so just impressive to see all those guys. Uh, not impressed with Anthony Simons again, but I am impressed with what the Toronto Raptors did. That is coming up next. Uh, also check out Lockdown Wizards, get their reaction after these games. Okay, Anthony Simons is my one little quibble from this game. He did get hot. He had a fourth quarter where he, you know, hit, was it four three-pointers. Um, 12 points, four of seven from three, couple of steals in the fourth, but it was the fourth quarter. Game was over. It was garbage time. I don’t know what’s going on with Anthony. And look, I’m perfectly willing to give him more time. This is a tough situation. Uh, traded to Boston, un unsure of his future. Like, we’re talking about trades. We did a trade show yesterday. I wrote a trade piece on Boston Sports Journal. We talk about Anthony Simons as a player like this, but sometimes we talk about him just in terms of his contract and we just talk about $27 million and blah blah blah. And that’s tough. It’s not easy. I’m sure there’s, you know, he’s putting pressure on himself. Lord knows what his agent and family or whatever his you know friends are telling him and you know on top of what the team is telling him. So I I do think there’s going to be some level of kind of being uncomfortable. So I know how like he got super steaming hot in the fourth quarter. He’s capable of that. I don’t expect him to be that every night, but I do expect him to be a good offensive player. So, I’m just hoping that he can kind of find that a little bit more. I I’m hoping that he can settle into whatever role it is. But, you know, I I feel like his situation weighs on him to some degree. I mean, just from being in the locker room, you see like Jason Tatum’s locker has a bunch of stuff in it. Jaylen Brown’s locker has a bunch of stuff in it. Pton’s Pritchards has a bunch of stuff in it. Anthony Simon’s locker is empty. It’s empty. And I think that’s for a reason. I think that’s just he doesn’t want to have a bunch of stuff in there whenever he gets traded. Like that’s what it feels like to me. I’m just guessing. But he’s I’m sure aware of the Celtic situation. They want like we talked about Zubat yesterday and this would be a there’s a absolute deal to be done. You know, you could do Simons and you know, Simons to LA and they can send Zubach and you know, player here, player there. You can make the numbers work fairly fairly easily, you know, which is not always possible in in this second apron era. But point is, if Anthony Simons is on this team past the trade deadline, I wouldn’t be surprised if he has like a monster March, you know, just just so we can like settle down and be like, “Okay, I know we’re here and I know this is this is where I’m staying at least through the summer.” So, I just I think there’s so many factors here with Simons that that make it uh difficult for him. I just hope that he can find some consistency. Uh the the last thing I wanted to get to here is thank you Toronto Raptors. Thank you Toronto Raptors for pushing the Lakers to the limit. Lakers won that game 1231 120 on a Ruy Hachimura buzzer beater. So they were right down to the wire. Uh Luca Donic didn’t play. He’s in Slovenia. He his uh fiance I guess is he just had a baby so he had a second child so good for him like you want to be with your family you know be there for your your child being born. Uh I don’t think that he’s flying from Slovenia to Boston overnight to get there and play a basketball game. If he does that’d be insane. like, but I think that Luca is probably going to miss this game. And LeBron, you heard Maverick Carter talk about he hopes that LeBron doesn’t play back to backs. I haven’t seen, maybe there’s been something that I missed, but I haven’t seen any declaration from the the Lakers that he isn’t playing back to backs, but he shouldn’t. And he played 36 minutes in this game. Play shot terribly. Oh, wow. He only scored eight points. Oh, I didn’t even notice that. his streak of 10 points per game, double digits, is over. If that Yeah. Oh, wow. I didn’t even notice that. So, that that’s been a big deal. Like the other day, um he stayed in the game to specifically score 10 points. So, um he’s his streak is over. So, now there’s no reason for him to play, but he he probably isn’t going to play the backtoback. So, LeBron is out. Uh, Luca’s probably out. So, thank you Toronto Raptors for pushing them to the limit because Austin Reeves played 41 minutes. Uh, Ruie played 35 minutes. This is this is going to be a tired Lakers team coming in from Toronto. Uh, that that helps the Celtics a lot. So, I know the Celtics are on a three and four and a four and six and maybe the Toronto Raptors game on Sunday, which is at 3:30 in the afternoon. Maybe that’s going to be a tough one. But, however this goes, I don’t know how they’re going to do on Friday night, but they’re set up to have a nice uh a good chance even tired because like I said, Jaylen didn’t play. All of the Celtics played, the most we got was 32 out of Pton Pritchard. And yeah, Payton gets tired, but if anybody’s a robot out there, Payton’s the closest thing. Like, it feels like he could play 48 minutes a game every night. Like, he’s very like I don’t know, maybe he’s a descendant of John Havich. Man, that dude just can run and run forever. The Celtics are going to be in a better position coming home. At least they get to sleep in their own beds. They I think will be in a good spot and the Lakers will be short-handed and they’ll be tired. Austin Reeves, like I said, coming off a 41minute night did a great job. Wow. 44 points, 10 assists. Nice night for him. Can he duplicate it in Boston? It’s going to be tough. So, thank you to the Toronto Raptors. Thank you to the Washington Wizards for making this one easy. Celtics, if they can do that, man, they’ll be 14 wins. That that is just incredible. Incredible for them. Um, I will be there. I’ll be at the garden for the game. Hopefully, I’ll get an opportunity to podcast from the garden after that game. So, subscribe. Make sure you subscribe. You get this podcast dropped directly to your device if you want to listen. Boston Celtics dominate the Washington Wizards with a 45-point statement win. Derrick White erupts for 30 points, while emerging talent Jordan Walsh delivers another electrifying performance that has fans rethinking the team’s ceiling. Thanks to the Toronto Raptors pushing the Lakers to the limit, the Celtics are primed for a favorable stretch.
John Karalis of Boston Sports Journal also highlights Payton Pritchard’s consistency, and major developmental leaps from Neemias Queta. Discussions center on the Celtics’ deep bench, Anfernee Simons’ uncertain role amid trade rumors, and how Joe Mazzulla’s rotations are cementing Boston’s position among Eastern Conference playoff hopefuls. Can the Celtics keep up this momentum and capitalize on their Eastern rivals’ missteps?

1.5 games back from the 2nd seed in the East letsss goooo Celtics!
🍀☘️🍀
Cs won 8 of their last 10 games. Not long ago they were 11th in the east (bottom third). Tonight, rose to 5th in the east (top third). They've beaten 2 of those 4 teams seeded above them (NY and Detroit). ROLL GREEN 💚 🍀💚🍀
Walsh definitely potential all- defensive team. Plus hustle rebounding attacking the rim, put backs. If this guy ever gets even a little bit of a jump shot – forget about it. He'll be an impact player even without one..
The East is not all that when you look at. It is good to see Boston playing some good basketball right now. I hope they can keep it up.
An insanely efficient output from The Washer.
Love the pod
It was a nice blow out win. Walsh has been a berserker on defense, and has excellent shot selection. That said, Pritchard, White and Simons launched some terrible shots- some of which went in. Contested 28' footers are not good shots unless you're Steph Curry. Way too much dribbling out by the logo
Respect for changing your opinion on Neemy 🙂 He is playing much better this year!
No Jaylen No Cry
14:06 did you catch that clip of JB 🗣️ JW for leaving Marcus🐍Smart off his top defense list? “Inception” anyone?
16:59 Queta, Minott, Walsh, Hugo coming off the bench next year 🤔🤔🤔 the Celtics will basically have the ‘24-‘25 Pacers coming off their bench.
I always think the ball going in when Derrick and prit shoot still even w them being off
Great Game for the rol players.
The Mantis strikes again!!
There’s a middle ground between player development coming out of nowhere & “he only needed opportunity”.
Jordan showed progress on film over the past 2 seasons. It just happened in the G and in limited flashes on NBA PT.
Biggest places it showed were finishing craft on offense & greater anticipation of tendencies on D.
Always bet on humble, hard workers with tools.
