Today is December 5th! The Winter Meetings will be held December 8th to December 11th in Orlando with the MLB Draft Lottery on December 9th and the Rule Five Draft on December 10th.

The Mets will host a press conference with Devin Williams at 15:30 this afternoon.

Cliff Floyd turns 53 today! Cornelius Clifford Floyd was drafted 14th overall in the first round by the Montreal Expos in the 1991 draft. He played 17 years in the majors including four years with the Mets from 2003 to 2006 with his best Mets season in 2005. He won a World Series with the 1997 Marlins and retired as a player after the 2009 season. Floyd is now a broadcaster.

Dave Hudgens turns 69 today. The first baseman played briefly in the majors with the 1983 Oakland Athletics and served as the hitting coach for the Mets from 2011 to 2014. He would leave the Mets to join the Houston Astros and won a ring with the 2017 Astros.

The Mets are teaming up with New York Cares for their 19th Annual Coat Drive presented by your local Toyota dealers on Wednesday, December 10, from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the Mets Team Store at Citi Field. Free parking will be available in Lot G. Fans bringing a new or gently used winter coat will receive a voucher redeemable for two (2) tickets to a select Monday – Thursday Mets home game in 2026. Fans will be limited to one (1) ticket voucher. Fans who donate will also receive an exclusive 20% discount at the team store. Some exclusions may apply. Please note that non-winter coats like windbreakers, jean jackets, raincoats or other light jackets will not be accepted. Fans will be limited to one (1) ticket voucher. Free parking for the Coat Drive will be available in Lot G. Lot G can be accessed through Gate 1 on Seaver Way.

  2. Putting Tong in Joe Ryan packages when Cole Ragans is available with more years of control and straight up better than Joe Ryan is malpractice.

    Joe Ryan has a nice K-BB% and WHIP. He also is a pitcher without overwhelming stuff who gets *shelled* when a hitter does make contact. At 29 he probably isn’t getting better and there’s legitimate concern that when he does lose a tick on his fastball he’s gonna get shelled even moreso. Sproat and Clifford for Ryan? Sure, but he isn’t worth more than that.

  5. 3 years of Johan Oviedo got a top 75-85 prospect. 

    Twins wanting Tong for 2 years of Ryan, doesn’t seem *too* outlandish. This pitching market is so ass. Wish we just paid Cease. 

    Feels like any trade for a pitcher is gonna make the stomach hurt. Unless you have a team buy into the ceiling of Watson, Wenninger and Santucci. Which is harder to do in December vs July.
