NHL-sized rinks ‘too small as is,’ says U.S. Olympic coach Mike Sullivan

  1. Please don’t encourage more ice for the opposition to run circles around us, thanks Mike.

  2. Can someone explain the problem? The ice will be… 3 ft shorter in length? It seems minuscule and not enough to not send players

  3. I mean he is right, the game was designed 100 years ago around people who moved half as fast as they do today. It can be painful to watch some games these days with the puck just bouncing around everywhere and nothing actually happening.

  4. I’m just so confused on how this even happens haha. So you google buy a hockey rink, then a website pops up with sizes. International… nhl… half ice… ohh create custom size, that will be fun.

  5. He’s 100% right . We also need 2 referees on ice max. Let cameras handle the rest. So sick of seeing pucks and players be stifled by navigating around referees. It will never happen because NHL is in the Stone Age

  6. As someone who got the unique chance to coach over in Europe for a tournament I have to say I do love the added room. It would open up the game a lot for some of the most talented players.

  7. Mike sullivan…200 career penalty minutes over 13 seasons is 10-ply soft and wants more space to dangle…
Too bad bud. Tom Wilson is gonna smash sone American players on the smaller ice

  8. Is everyone involved with Team USA involved with or formerly involved with the Penguins?

  9. The rink size is fine. Making it bigger is just too much extra space and would probably reduce scoring.
