Is it getting close to that time for Mets fans to face life without Pete Alonso and Edwin Diaz?

It’s time for the Panic meter
with two guys who don’t really Panic much, right harp you try
to keep everyone calm as much as possible heart but zero to
ten. What’s your Panic meter on the Mets? Not re-signing Pete a
lot. I would put it at five Chelsea because I believe that this is
interesting, the Red Sox is real JJ, and that’s all it
takes. It doesn’t sound like might be a lot of teams
involved, but the Red Sox are a big Market team that can
afford him. And if they need a
spot, they need to fill that spot in
the lineup. Their first base. The GM Breslow talked about
adding a middle of the order. A bat now. Maybe it could. There
could be after schwarber as well, but I think it’s still
going to be harder for the tempo, schwarber away from
the Phillies and is from the
Mets. I don’t know if the Mets are all
in on him. We nobody knows we if they’re going to go all
out to keep him or not. So I feel like five fifty fifty. He’s right at
a 50-50 level. For me right now, you went 50 50, I put it in
a four because I think it’s 6042, whether or not Pete ends
up coming back to this team because they’re in such dire
need of what he provides from a power standpoint. Like, I can’t imagine what the Met
lineup is going. Look like as far as protecting
Juan Soto, if you take away the pop and the
production and everything that pink brings to the table,
it’s going to require a pretty amazing pivot from David Stern’s
and I get the red sock interest I do. Think it’s real, they need a slugger. Who knows
if they’re going to re-sign Alex bregman, but then the
emotional attachment weighs in with Pete. The idea that he can
go and be this lifelong met said, all these records as far
as home run as are concerned. I don’t know if that means
anything. The David Stern’s my gutters, it might mean something
to Steve Cohen. So instead of it being 50/50, I’ll
say by the emotional hinge by that, but at much Chelsea. Yeah. 60/40
here they need and they need him. I think it’s just we
don’t know if they’re going to go out to keep. Definitely will
have to see uh Switching gears to the bullpen harp. This one’s
for you. What’s your Panic meter on for the Mets? Not re-signing?
Edwin Diaz. Yeah, I hate to say it shows, but I’m gonna go
shevin. Just because look, they got to Evan Williams, would
they say they’re still interested in Diaz but I think
Williams gives them a fallback and, and You know, we’ve come to know
about Stearns as he loves value. Let us take his show that
he can get value, the most value in the market and you’re
going to have to overpay for Diaz. Now, you have a guy
Williams. If he’s your closer, it’s a Grilli. Good contract for
a closer. My issue there is Williams. We
know he had, he had some issues closing for the Yankees last
year. I thought that maybe is more mental than anything. The
pressure got to him to expectations, all that. So he
throwing back in that close roll with the Mets that
he’s got to follow Diaz of DS and out there. I think that’s a
big, it’s a big ask for him, so it’s It. I think they need them
again but I don’t know if they’re going to go out and get him. And speaking of
Devin Williams JJ, what should Mets fans panics meters
Beyond going into the season with Devin Williams as her
closer. You want to guess? There’s hope for me. I know it’s
hi, give me the perfect 10. Sorry, my fans, it is a 10. If all of a sudden Devin
Williams arm, Sally, Owen Beane, let’s see acknowledge something,
okay? The Yankees lost out on the
American League East for two reasons one. They couldn’t beat
the Toronto Blue Jays to Devin Williams ducked. Up tens silly
games Forum in So many big spots. Now, all of a sudden
you’re going to fill the shoes of Edwin Diaz. You could
not handle the pressure of pinching in the ninth inning for
the New York Yankees. Now, you’re going to take the
trumpets away, you’re going to put them in Los Angeles. You’re
going to put them in Toronto, wherever you’re going to go and put them and you’re going to
say, all right, big boy, you are closer. Now, there’s no
safety net of Edwin Diaz. I like the devil and signing. If
he’s your setup man. If he’s the closer, I am not with this,
not one bit. So it is a 10, Chelsea.

On SportsNite, John Harper and John Jastremski let loose with a panic meter on the Mets not signing Pete Alonso and Edwin Diaz plus, does it keep rising should Devin Williams replace Diaz as the closer?

  1. If they let Pete go then after 50 years I’m done. They are going to have as many interpreters as coaches in the dugout next year especially if they bring in Valdez/Imai. It’s not a good prescription for chemistry in the clubhouse for half to speak one language and half speak another language.

  2. Alonso has a chance to improve his mets home run record . 3 or4 more 30 hr years would make him pretty much uncatchable. Does he value glory and lots of money or just a bit more money.

  3. Alonso does not speak Spanish….. He's gone.
Alonso going to Boston. The westies don't care what his nationality is.
Diaz will be signed by Mets.
Cohen really does not give AF anymore about the Mets… Cohen finalized his casino deal to have casino connected to Citi. Kathy Hochul took the payoff.
    Well done Cohen.

  4. Stearns will let them walk, he already replaced Diaz with a scrap heap piece. They’ll sign another .230 hitter like Robert Jr to replace Alonso. That’s the Dollar Tree Stearns way.

  5. My prediction is they let them both walk,…and just wait and see the reflection
will be clear as day when Stevie sees the attendance record dwindle to the low
2's….nowhere near 3 million. like last year.
