Bound to have a stinker. Nice wake up for the team before the back to back this weekend.
I had to watch this game while on a plane to Texas. I’ll take my share of the blame for this.
I see that Jack Drury was our only defenseman last night.
I know we can’t win every game but I hoped I was wrong.
Question on strategy (I am not an expert so feel free to educate me 🙃).
When an opposing team successfully clogs up the blue line like the Isles did last night, wouldn’t it make sense to just send Nate and Marty to slice through with their speed to the net? If they did this a few times at the beginning wouldn’t it get the defense to give them more respect? I know they are capable of it because I see them sometimes do it, just not enough.
Even if they don’t get a chance on net or turnover the puck, wouldn’t the defense have to start backing up at the blue line more to protect the zone deep? It seems like when we do break in, they immediately dish off to our guy right inside the zone who then gets smothered and has a lot of the passing lanes cut off.
While a loss is totally reasonable, after living in bliss for over 20 games where we haven’t lost by more than a point, crashing back down to reality sucks.
we were due for another regulation loss, its allowed. The only thing that matters is how they bounce back next game. Hopefully they’re less sick and feeling better.
