  1. Insane. But not exactly something you could’ve predicted. Couldn’t have happened at a worse position though. The vibes are not good at the moment.

  2. What was the thought process here. If were big Ingrams fans why did we try to replace him or cut him at all for that matter? Couldnt we have kept Ingram and Slay?

  3. Someone earlier today posted a Tim Graham tweet that Sean was pretty angry about losing Ingram.

Watching his full response, that is true. McD looks like hes holding back anger and just seems massively disappointed. I think there’s something going on at OBD, and I think Beane is not on the same page as McD anymore.

  4. To the people saying this isn’t beane’s fault – this was a nonsensical move with very little possible upside from the start. I think he has to go after this year

  5. Not exactly a good headspace for your coach to be in a few days before a huge game. Was it really worth the risk?

  6. I maintain that 2025 Slay was not an upgrade, at least not to the point where it’s worth releasing a younger guy who knows the system and is likely to stick around for future seasons. It was a stupid lateral move even not accounting for the risk of something like this happening.

  7. McD and Beane clearly on different pages. This is not something you see in well-run orgs. How frustrating

  8. The more this season has unfolded the more I really like McDermott and really am starting to despise beane.

  9. Beane fucking sucks. Ingram was a huge McDermott guy. Literally what the hell was he even thinking? Now you’re down a CB just because you tried to kick the tires on a 34yo CB? Slay is washed and this was a huge risk, low reward type move anyway, and now you clearly pissed off your HC. Beane is a bum

I thought there was a chance there was maybe some issues behind the scenes with Ingram, and this was a way to cut him or get him back to the PS. This response by Sean clearly shows that wasnt the case, which makes it all the more puzzling they did this for at best an incremental upgrade and at worst a downgrade.

And how the hell are their no safeguards to prevent shit like this happening?? Just reverse the transaction. That a player can just veto reporting to a team and say he’s retiring (which is probably a lie) and cause a team to lose a player in the process is fucking insanely stupid.

  11. Translation: “I’m a good Christian man, so I won’t tell you exactly how fucking ball-tighteningly pissed off I am right now”

  12. Yeah he’s not happy. Ingram wouldnt have stuck around for so many years unless McDermott really liked him. I’m guessing they hoped Ingram was going to clear waivers and end up on the practice squad. Beane probably made that gamble and it completely blew up

  13. It feels like Beane and McD disagreed and Beane dropped him anyway. Beane looks like he’s holding back anger. Pure dissapointment.

  14. Ingram was a non-terrible backup who played multiple positions and knew the system. The move never made sense and straight up looks horrible now

  15. To add a different point that’s not been made so far, to me, this NFL rule seems really dumb. If a team can’t talk to another team’s player before he goes on waiver, but then has to sign him to the 53 before they can confirm with him, that makes no sense. Imagine if, as a company /business, you had to make someone (who is available) a job offer *before* talking to them, but in order to do that, you had to fire an existing employee first. Seems stupid

  16. Slay is in such heavy decline that he was benched and eventually cut in Pittsburgh.
Ingram may have been liked by McDermott, but McDermott has had Ingram inactive most of the year and avoided using Ingram on defense unless a dire injury situation unfolded.

I’m not sure how good TeCory Couch or Dane Jackson are right now, but one can assume Ingram was better than both, so neither of them seems to be worth elevating aside from numbers at the position. I’d be interested in picking up the best CB on some practice squad. Slay played his hand and you don’t want someone who won’t even report on the 53 in December. Find someone who could have a little upside and put Slay on the did not report list to end his career.

  17. If injuries hit in January and we had to rely on Ja’Marcus Ingram in the playoffs, this entire sub would have collectively cursed Beane for not grabbing a vet corner to bolster the position

  18. I’m just going to state the obvious here. Does this look like the poise, decision making, and overall tone of a Super Bowl contending team?

  19. McD has created miracles with some of the shit he’s been dealt. I like him but he also needs to hire outside the organization.

  20. They probably thought he’d easily clear waivers since Slay got to us and only the Eagles/KC are behind us.

Pretty big fumble considering how fragile we are in the secondary. But also BS that this can happen so this will likely be the now traditional newly made rule after the Bills get punched in the dick.

  21. The Eagles were tampering but I can’t prove it.

  22. Idk man. Beane has been on a downhill spiral since the WR comments. McDermott is clearly pissed and this just seems like a vibe killer now. And just our luck, we have this distraction right before having to play a fully healthy bengals team who has had our number in past smh

  23. Is there a reason Ingram was waived before Slay was actually on the team?? Like did they have to make room on the roster to even claim him off waivers? Seems odd that the team was blindsided by Slay not wanting to be in Buffalo so surely there’s something I’m missing here? I liked football more when I had to be reminded who was the Bills GM.

  24. Damn… I really liked Ja… great guy. Was able to chat with him for a good bit. Hands down one of the most humble guys out there. I wish him and his family the best!
