Wild @ Flames Postgame Reaction | FN After Burner – Game 29
Minnesota may be wild, but the Calgary Flames were feeling downright feral in the old blasty jerseys, no less. Let’s get the monkey off your back night at the Scotia Bank Saddle Dome as the Flames doouse the Red Hot Wild 4 to one. And it’s Cammy and Boom here on Afterburner to talk at you about it. As always, we’re brought to you by Bet365, where it’s never ordinary. Get in on the action using code nation. And if you have deep thoughts and feelings, questions, and concerns that you want to fire our way, hit up the super chat. Always supporting the youth centers of Calgary, a wonderful place where kids are welcome and accepted at a place where they get a break from chronic stress and just uh some of the tough realities of life for some of them. A great place to flourish through connection, fun, sport, music, all that good stuff. Boom, you look so enthused to be here this evening. I am so excited to be here. I’m excited to be here with you, Cammy. This is uh it’s the Wild and Flames on a Thursday and there was no overtime or a shootout. I thought there I I just didn’t see any other way other than going to extra time. But uh but how about it? If there if any of you have said, you know, one team will pull away in the third, I think I know how my bet 365 bet would have gone. But uh hey, good on the Flames. They that game to wrap the road trip a couple days ago. They just they looked like they were dead and forgot to lie down. It was just they had nothing. And we talked about it on the other show and Rhett was very why why wouldn’t you just come home after the game? Instead, they stayed and then traveled yesterday. You could have just got home, just bite the bullet, fly home. Yeah, you’re but then you’d at least have a day. we thought. So, yesterday’s a travel day and it’s another game day. In a way, the Wild would have been more rested than the Flames would have been. I give them credit. They looked they looked significantly better tonight than they did against the Predators a couple nights ago. So, I don’t know what that what that tells us. Usually, the first game back after a road trip is the stinker, but they uh they were all right against an opponent that took took him lightly. Uh I don’t know. I don’t know. Wild playing a little guilty maybe. I don’t know. I mean, who knows? I don’t know what goes on in Nashville. This is, you know what? This is another one of those things for the for an opponent that we we we get all excited and we talk them up. San Jose, we did it. We did it with Dallas a little bit. You’re just automatically you’re afraid of Florida. Uh either they took them took the flames lightly or uh just just an off night. My guess is this is not the Wild team that had points in 12 straight games. What we saw tonight. Oh, they hadn’t had a regulation loss since what was it? November 6th. Yeah, something. It was uh Yeah, November 6th or November because they beat the it was the ninth where they beat the Flames in St. Paul. So, hey, good on the Flames. Just when you just when you think they’re uh they’re cooked, they come up with a big win. Well, I was going to say like you’re so festive there. You got the background going. We could have Yeah, we could have busted out a little uh Mr. Grinch if it was like another Nashville performance. You mean that old tree in my in my background stank stunk? Yeah. Yeah. The the wild did kind of stink stank stunk a little bit. But uh you know that’s I’m happy for everybody who uh doesn’t who hates seeing the team lose. Happy for Ryan Lombberg getting back in the lineup. Yeah, it’s a big it’s a big uh it’s a big two points. 10 wins. Cammy, 10 wins on the season. Look out. Getting greedy. Yeah, I know. This is honestly probably like what this Calgary team is when they’re at their best. Like hardworking, trying to stay in structure, battle your asses off. They get some sustained pressure while not allowing a ton of secondary opportunities in the defensive zone, and they got some really great goalending. Like, that’s probably what this team is at their best. This is probably why they did as well as they did last season. Uh there’s a couple pucks. The one obviously I think we saw it went off the kind of the shaft near the butt end of the stick that’s probably going top corner if it doesn’t hit that. Wolf is coming over. He doesn’t see doesn’t see the shot. It hits him in the shoulder. If that’s a couple inches higher, it’s going into the top part of the net. So hey, he made the saves. He’s on the payroll. You get to you get to play and have an impact on the game. And for him, he hasn’t played a whole lot as of as of late, which there is no controversy. I know Huska’s talked about him. We can try and make it a controversy, but one guy’s making a lot of dough or a set two and the other guy is played a handful of games in the National Hockey League. So, Wolfe gets in, plays well, beats a tough top tough opponent. He’ll be happy to probably get some sustained playing time now. Well, it’s been a long time for him. Like, this is a guy who is second in the league and starts with 22. I think only Shurken has more at 23, but hasn’t started a game in 8 days. So that was last Wednesday when he gets yanked against Tampa Bay. He comes in, makes a couple saves in relief, and he was a huge difference maker for Calgary tonight. I have 5,000 tabs open here, but I’m I’m going to pull up what it actually was for Dustin Wolf at the Saddle Dome tonight. Yeah, you one goal on 27 shots and 963 save percentage. That’s not a bad way to come back to the saddle. fans are really eager for something to cheer about. But we’ll rip through the recap here for you. After playing nearly half of the first period short-handed, high sticks all around, high sticks for everyone tonight. Basically, it’s scoreless going into the second and like this is where it’s get the monkey off your back night. Hubo breaks a 14 game slump. It’s so many games. it they yes you play 82 but it’s it’s kind of like baseball when you play every day and you don’t get a hit for four five six seven days you’re am I ever going to hit the ball again 14 games you’re you’re that’s three you’re you’re you’re wondering am I ever going to be able to find it and uh not often you I would guess you have that amount of time in front of the net where Anderson’s allowed this is I mean this is five on five this is a huge night for Raasmus Anderson he played great tonight. Not a great play defensively there as he just curls to the front of the net. He’s got all kinds of space and then Cubo grabs the rebound, pulls it to his back hand, has an extra second. So, as you said, it’s uh it’s his fifth of the season. It’s been a long time coming. And that was what 421 of the second period. Gave them a little bit of little bit of belief that something good could be coming their way. And then, well, I mean, that follows up with probably the save of the game, the old scorpion from Dustin Wolf. It’s Johansson denied on the doorstep. I think it’s Yeah, Cadra kind of bats the puck out of harm’s way, but holy moly. Oh, you love it. Get up for that. A little luxur. Same with the the save he made that just went off the shaft of a stick. Might have even been like the knob. Oh, beautiful. Yeah, I’ll give him one of those. Guy was showing out back in the nets. He’s excited he gets to play again for a little bit. In case you forgot, Dustin Wolf says seemed like it could have been one- nothing heading into the break, but no. No. This was a weird one, too. Uh, Beecher, who probably had his best Night in the Flames uniform so far, huge defensive zone shot block, but it hits him right on the foot, which one probably hurt like a mother. But the blade just like pops right off the boot and Begoian’s shot goes off of Kapka. Trenan gets the double deflection past Wolf and whatever. 1-1. Yeah, that would be Flames luck this season. And I was watching it uh with my kid. He’s like, “So, what what do you do there if you’re him? Do you try and it’s the second period? It’s a long change. You’re never going to get to the bench on one blade. you you just have to kind of do your best to get into a lane, try and take up some space, good stick, and he did all of that and then it just happens to be a like you say a double deflection off of Clapka and then Trennan gets a piece. So kind of some bad luck there for sure. I don’t think Wol had a chance on it, but yeah, I don’t know if that uh I mean it’s embarrassing, right? I mean, you play hockey. Have you ever had that happen where you go down to block a big slapper and it blows the blade off of your boot? I mean, I wouldn’t be embarrassed. I’d feel so money if I did that. Would you? I did get in trouble for running a guy over at hockey on Monday, though. I don’t think either of us are good enough to stop. Was it Gould? No, he was actually Everyone’s still waiting for that. Lovely. Yeah, everyone’s still waiting for the Cammy. I’m looking at the afterburner schedule. Well, we got that massive super chat, so I feel like it might have to be the drinking show. Might be. Yeah, might have to be. I’ll start doing my stretches, lifting some weights. Yeet that boy across the room. Sorry. He had his birthday. Yeet that young man across the room. Yeah, I know. Yeah. Yeah. He’s growing up right before our eyes. It’s a It’s a beautiful thing. Beautiful thing. Is it? Is it? Maybe. Sure. I’m happy. I mean, he’s nice. He’s a nice guy. He’s a He’s a sweet boy. Great guy. Tries hard. Yeah. Takes us to the third period. Matt Scoronado come on down. Big stretch pass. Frost chips it ahead and Coroners has to get in the slot. Has a pretty wideopen look for his ninth of the season. Pretty solid release there. He’s got the team lead now and you have Hanley way at the other end of the ice for the secondary. There were a couple plays like that. There was one where Anderson kind of flipped it. Was it It was the Hubo, right? You know what? Like the Flames I feel like don’t generate a ton of opportunities rushing up like that, but that seemed to be like the bulk of their offense tonight. Yeah. Not a lot of hitting the line with speed, making the defense have to, you know, back up and pay respect, you know, be respectful of the speed because there just there isn’t a lot of it. But there were a couple plays there where it was a long whether it was a change or whatever, but a long pass and then just kind of a nice area pass where the, you know, the winger, whoever the linemate can can kind of go and skate into it. Didn’t work on the on the one play with Anderson, but uh I think Ball had a nice one, too. Yeah. You know what? Coronado’s up to nine goals. He had the what couple games of healthy scratch earlier in the season. last year. Remember, he was healthy, scratched near the start of the season, came back, and it was pretty steady the rest of the way. I wonder if we’re seeing kind of the same. He doesn’t he doesn’t disappear for very long stretches. Some young players can be can really fall prey to that. He’s fairly involved on a regular basis, which is a great sign. A real turn of the corner for him, if you will. Speaking of people who need to turn a corner, Connor Zeri a third Flames goal. His third of the season in this economy. I know this line was so good. I loved Backlin and Coleman tonight. They link up in the neutral zone. You get the two Missouri. Go for the pass and just tuck it in. Tuck it in. His first goal since November 23rd since Vancouver. That’s right. And before that, it was the home. It was the season opener. Scored against Edmonton in that crazy game number one. and then went 20 games. He missed a couple as well, but missed 20 or had 20 without a sniff. And then we saw the goal in Vancouver where you talk about monkeys off backs. He was pumped. A little more subdued celebration there. But if he can start to kind of feel it and chip in all of a sudd It’s a good thing. I’ll just say that. I don’t know how much it means for wins and losses, but life’s a lot easier on your goalie when you score more than zero or one. That’s deep. Cammy bars in hell. It’s just you could talk to Devin Culie and uh Kulie takes the loss. Kind of had a shut out through regulation. So, it’s just get me one, boys. He would be sitting there tonight thinking, “Oh, boy. Four. That’s that’s not bad.” So, spoiler riches right there. A rare. And And I think what’s great is I think Pinder on our 365 bets this morning, the overunder was four and a half. And uh he he was all over the under. So that that emptied out her skin of his teeth. I hate I just hate it when bad things happen to Ryan. So sad. Sad. A small violin. We should get him a small violin for Christmas. I’ll try and get over it. H yes. try my best. Raasmus Anderson technically caps things off with an empty netter, but the actual icing on the cake was Ryan Lombberg crashing the net as the clock runs out. Thank you for your service, Ryan Lombberg. That’s right. That’s right. So, a couple points for Coronado goal and an assist. A two-point night for Rasmus Anderson. It’s been an amazing November and now into December for Rasmus. Uh not that he’s ever not that he’s struggled to put up points, but it you just when when you thought about Raspus and what he contributes to you, it’s not you’re not he’s not necessarily quarterbacking your power play or going to be the guy that’s going to lead your blue line in scoring, but man, he has been for a team that’s not scoring a ton. He’s sure putting up a lot of points, which would bode well if you’re of the mindset that maybe he’s a guy that makes some other team better down the stretch and could bring in a nice little tidy return in trade. But does this like hot stretch for Raasmus Anderson feel like a bit of a victory lap farewell tour? I feel like we’re seeing so many hallmarks of what made him kind of spicy, but a fan favorite. Oh yeah, over his years in Calgary. Like we see the return of the staredown. Actually, like the Flames posted a pretty cute moment with his family earlier in the game as well. Just to have someone that animated around it kind it almost feels like uh that’s good. Yeah, that’s that’s that’s the good stuff right there. That’s what it’s all about. you know, when when he had the comments, I guess it was earlier this year in the offseason, he was talking about how he was listening to the the media and the the fans at Calgary tell him how he stunk. It was I didn’t agree with that. I didn’t think really thought that Raasmus Anderson like this guy’s going to be on the Olympic team for Sweden. I hope it wasn’t sincere. I hope he was kind of just, you know, saying something for for a sound bite or whatever cuz I I think a lot of people, myself included, have been fans of this guy. I think he should be wearing the captain’s letter. I think he is uh he’s a guy that we’ve seen. We’ve seen many players in Calgary over the last few years who could really take or leave whether or not they were whether they lived here, whether they played for the Flames. I have no doubt that Rasmus Anderson loves winning, hates losing more than he loves winning and cares about the team and likes the city. And I I there’s not many that I think you can say that, but I and I don’t know what it is. I just genuinely feel that way. He it feels to me when I watch him and have watched him over the years that he cares about that jersey that’s on his chest, which is why it does make it a little bit hard to think you move that guy. But that’s why he would be a guy who’s sought after is because he is he plays with passion and he does care and just everything that he brings with along with the cap hit but just everything that he brings. He’s tailor made you would think for some team that’s going to make a long run. Yeah. and just also someone who’s been clearly so close with so many of their teammates, but remember he doesn’t hate anything, including losing more than James Neil. Is that right? Always have that. Oh, yeah. He hates James Neil. Or unless he’s just being sassy in interviews, but maybe I don’t think he’s that good an actor. Well, but you know what? And there or or give the man his Oscar. But you know, if there is something there that he dislikes, my guess is it would stem to the fact that James Neil didn’t give a [ __ ] When you’re someone who cares a great deal and you have to work alongside somebody who doesn’t care, that can that can rub you the wrong way. My guess would be and who knows, maybe there’s more to it, but yeah, I mean, James Neil can [ __ ] beat it. Yeah. Another person who really uh had a shining game for me, wasn’t so rewarded on the the score sheet, but Blake Coleman. Holy moly, he was buzzing tonight. He’s been really good all year. I think that he had the goals there to kind of charge out at the start and he got up to whatever it was, nine goals or had the the great start and it hasn’t you didn’t expect it to keep up. But he’s another guy it looks it just he’s he’s going to be so good for a team down the stretch. He’s he’s already played on a cup champion. He’s got the pedigree. And it’s the only thing about when you trade the when when you trade Nikita Zadorov, it’s like the room’s going to be fine. It’s the room is probably better without him in there. When they move Elias Lind home, you don’t need that pouty prick around. Oh, you you’re Johnny and Kachchuck aren’t here anymore and you’re not on the best line in the league. like it was a big it had a big lip going for the better part of a year and a half. Get the hell out. When we were still in like doing the COVID remote um Zoom press conferences, I asked Elias Lynholm a question once on Zoom and he said, “I didn’t listen.” I’m like, “Oh, okay. Very good. Next question.” Right. So, those those guys with expiring contracts, they were so done with the team and the city, they just couldn’t wait to get out. get the hell out. And Conroy did I think he did whatever you get in return. I thought the Lindholm trade obviously the the return is looks to be terrific, but it’s addition by subtraction. You don’t want those guys in your room. Whereas for guys like Coleman and Anderson, and I know Anderson’s I’m not going to be a distraction. Well, just don’t don’t be a negative presence. Don’t be a negative force in the locker room. and they haven’t won a lot of games, but I don’t get the sense that there’s any of that going on. You could see it a mile away with Zidorov and Lindholm. And the thing with with Coleman is he’d be a great he’d be a great player to pick up in a trade, but I feel like it the loss would be significant for the room to lose a guy like that. Yeah, you’ve still got Weaggguers and back. You’ve got some veterans, but there is something about the way he plays. He he’s I mean he scraps the other game and he’s not a scrapper but he’ll do it. He he finger off today. He clipped Hartman today after he saw him kind of go to lowbridge weaguer is he’s a great teammate without being hey look at me and how great a teammate you can just you just see it and I remember the the comments from John Cooper right when he signed in Calgary and he was like he was visibly upset he’s like it’s it is really hard to imagine our room without a Blake Coleman in it and I think that probably the Flames would be the same way right Now, he would be a guy who’s you you would just look up to him. A lot of those young guys, if you’re in that room, how you talk about a captain without a C on his chest, that’s that’s Blake Coleman. He works and plays hard and does it the right way. Well, that’s the thing. You talk to people who’ve been on these winning teams and they say like they’ll always tell you these teams are usually the closest team they’ve ever been on or that the culture is great and that those are teams where every person could be wearing a letter. You also feel less bad for Blake Coleman knowing that he’s a great presence to have around for young players coming up because he has one. It’s like, okay, he’s not like Michael Bland or like a Mark Jordano where it’s like, okay, this guy might need a chance. He might need to leave to get a chance to one day win. Coleman’s already got that. But him and Anderson care so much. Even if it does come to a point where they are traded away from Calgary, I don’t see their returns like that first game back being bitter. I feel like Flame stance will probably still ride for them. Yeah. And the thing with Coleman is, you know, it because because he’s tasted it. He I don’t think this is a guy that just wants to ride into the sunset and never win again. It’s He probably thinks about it a fair bit. I I’m not My deal isn’t done this year, but got another year left. Is there a chance I get traded? I’m not going to ask for a trade, but I would like another crack at one. And if it’s not here, then then yeah, I would love to win again. I think that I I it’s curious because you work I work with Rhett who never had a chance to win it. Who hungers for it more? Someone who’s never had it or someone who’s had it and knows how the euphoria of it and how great it is. Maybe it’s six of one, half a dozen of the other. But I do wonder if it changes more too if you know you win early in your career versus the twilight of your career. I would think so. Yeah, I would think there’s I mean he’s not playing right now because he got injured, but a guy like Tyler Sean, you win it early and you probably think, well, I’m on a great B. It’s gonna be great. We’re gonna win. We’re going to have three shots at this dynasty. Yeah. And then you never you never see it again. So, yeah. I don’t know. As far as for the Flames, you know, those guys have been great for them. Those are when you talk about Anderson and Coleman points-wise or or whatever, they’re in the they’re in the game every night. Raspus plays a ton of minutes and and Coleman is there there’s not a night where you don’t see him doing something. He he makes his impression on the game. Absolutely. So, if you’re hitting the town, head on over to the Unicorn. They got two locations. Raise a glass to your boys. Yeah. Down on eighth is the Super Pub. Got the three floors, the three bars. So good. Got all the games going. They got the game day $7 pints of Molson Canadian. And now that the Flames are back for a couple of games here. You can head on down there and enjoy beverage. And you know, if you’re not feeling watching the game there, you might just uh get approached and get sauced some free tickets. And both the locations are actually really close to the Saddle Dome. So it is a hop skip and a jump over there and you know be in the Saddle Dome. They got the gold on in person. Yeah, they got the golden tea. Buck hunter gold. What’s What’s your game? I love buck hunter. Yeah, buck hunter. Not surprised. You’ve got that don’t cross me type of streak. I can see it. Oh, she’s so nice. Wait, is that a um That’s a rifle. Okay, let’s get out of here. Keep pissed off. I had to do shooting practice once. Yeah, with the Regina police. I named my target Nevin. I had the perve with the briefcase. Oh, the perve. Yeah. How did How did you know he was a perve? Oh, he just had that look about him. Oh, I see. No perves at the unicorn. It helps to have a backstory when you’re trying to get motivated to shoot for the first time in front of people. Okay. Yeah. But it’s Hey, it’s it’s like athletes. They need things. They come up with things to give to drive them and give them, you know, up their passion. You needed a perve in a suit with a briefcase and a really bad comb over. Yeah. Ah, the unicorn. Thank you, unicorn. Great place. Great, unicorn. Go check it out. Maybe we’ll be there. Mike is probably there hammering Guyoza right now. Is that what you do? Is that what you hammer? I think he’s up to 20 20 orders regular season orders of guoza. That’s like like the dumpling, right? Yes. Is that is that one boiled or is that one fried either way? So, depends on the place. I don’t usually venture beyond buffalo wings. So, what’s the best That’s a my question. What’s the best dumpling? Because you’ve got like the guoza and then you’ve got your ravioli which is kind of a dumpling and then you’ve got the perogi. I feel like that’s a cousin. The perogi is kind of a dumpling like something wrapped like a like a a sweet little treasure wrapped inside some doughy goodness. I’m sorry. I didn’t We should have a draft. We’ll make it a thing once a month. We’ll have a nonsense draft. Yeah. Okay. I go perogi though if you’re if perogi is eligible in this ball game. They are for me. They are for me and it’s probably going to be my winner. Well, because you’re from the borch belt, aren’t you? I am from Yeah, I’m from the perogi borch belt. I had perogis earlier this week. So good. There’s a place in town where I get them. I can’t tell you though because it’s busy enough as it is. I can’t tell you, Cammy. Don’t you just stop. Don’t. I’d love for you. I wish you knew. I’ll get it out of you eventually. I wish I could tell you, but I can’t because especially with Christmas coming. Go in there by the buy them by the I get them by the five dozen bag. That’s a lot. That is not at the rate I hammer those things down. Anyway, where were we? There was a hockey game on tonight. Uh, the unicorn, Gould, hammering guoza. Oh, yes. Perogis and uh and the unicorn for sure. All of that going on. It’s getting into that time of year. I’m ready for World Juniors to start. I wasn’t sure what I I uh I thought maybe you’d be like just, you know, not doing shows for a little bit. taking a couple weeks, you know, just kind of busy. It’s getting that time of year, you know, it’s just stopped talking about hockey for a little bit. We never get to do that. Never get to do that. No, it was tough. I don’t think I’ve I would like sat down. I’m like, I don’t even remember how to do this show. It’s been a couple of weeks, but we had the prospects challenge here with your favorite player whose name you couldn’t remember, right? JP Jeffrey Paul. Um, yeah. Uh, yeah. Got to sit with Pender for a game. Pike was there. Wow. Yeah. Some good fun. Overtime, huh? We had overtime down in Lethbridge. Yeah. But it was also very cool because before they did the team picture for team CHL at the Prospects Challenge here in Calgary. Who should trot out on the Saddle Dome Ice? But Lanny McDonald. Ah, Lanny. Alas. One of the non-Canadians did say, “Is that Brett Hart?” No, it’s not Brettheart. No, it was not. But it was really cool to see him there. He uh had white hats for all the all the kids there. Gave them some solid motivation. It’s just always just so fun to listen to L. One of my favorite guys. He’s the best. He is the best. I really hope that people And here’s the thing. When Lanny’s in pol just leave him leave him be. At least I feel ah he’s not going to want me bugging him. Oh, he’ll say he will never say no to anyone. Everybody deserves a little or doesn’t deserve every I I hope everybody has a little experience with Lanny in their life just to feel how genuinely good he is. and he’ll make you feel so good and then as you walk away you will start to feel bad about yourself which is it’s like god I’ll never be that nice of a guy ever will I ever be that genuinely forthright and good but he is uh he’s one of our he’s a treasure he’s one of the best ones he also goes out to those superhero skates on Sundays sometimes he actually caught my camera once I was doing a shoot there like you know like the big cameras. I had a hand like up on zoom and iris and the lens detached and this camera is worth more than my life and I kind of like I can feel the back of it slide off and I kind of half catch it with one hand but it is going down. Lanny sprints from one end of the ice to the other and catches it as it falls. He could have been a goalie. He could have been a goalie. He’s a good boy. He’s a good boy. Is that segueing you into a read? It sure is. I was looking at a super chat there, but we will get to that. We have all seen Lanny make incredible comebacks on the ice. Prevent some of us from losing thousands of dollars worth of equipment. But his greatest one did not happen in the arena. that happened at the Calgary airport where his life was saved by some quickthinking first responders and the cardiac team at Foothills Medical Center that helped him get back on his feet. And now it’s Lanny’s chance to give back. He’s helping the Calgary Health Foundation raise funds to upgrade the city’s cardiac caization labs. Those upgrades mean faster diagnosis, safer procedures, and more lives saved right here at home. And you can see Lanny share the story himself on the Calgary Health Foundation’s website. And until December 31st, your donation will be matched. And you can go to givealth.ca to learn more about that and cry a little bit and just appreciate that we all have Lanny McDonald in our lives. Love you, Lanny. Calgary Health Foundation doing good work. Love it. Heck yeah. Yeah. Tell them Lanny sent you. Yeah. Tell them. Tell them Lanny sent you for sure. get our super chat here. Oh, do you want do you want the uh do you want the horn, please? All right, [Music] see you for chat for the Youth Centers of Calgary. Oh, if Pre goes to World Juniors, would he then be eligible for a conditioning stint at the Wranglers upon his return? Probably a tight question, but I believe so. I Yeah, I think so. I don’t I’m not even sure if it has anything to do with World Juniors. I think once you’ve been injured and you’re away, you you’re eligible for a conditioning stint, but yeah, I would think that that would be that would uh yeah, it’s it’s been it’s going to be a weird year, I think, for for Perk and the Flames. It’s not gone the way anyone would have hoped. You I mean, it could go any number of ways, I suppose. the the fact that it has gone with him not playing hockey at all, even though his options were limited. It’s the NHL or it’s back to junior. Well, that’s not good. So, it’s the NHL and then he gets injured a number of times. The most recent time, the most serious. So, yeah, go to the go to the World Juniors and then a conditioning stint. I see the questions. He’s not allowed to play in the American Hockey League this year, which is part of the rub. Don’t get Pinder going. God unless you have an hour of your life you just don’t need anything with um but yes he he’s not eligible to play in the A that is changing but for this year you had kind of you wondered what it was going to look like and it’s not been it’s not been good so if he can go and I don’t know about you Cammy but I I’m I’m starting to get real excited for the World Juniors. Uh, so if he can go to the World Juniors and and and and just play, get some confidence back, get some conditioning and all of that back, it’ll be it’ll be great for him. And then well, and there’s a lot on the line. Canada hasn’t meddled for two years. They’ve been kicked out by the checks in the quarterfinals, two years in a row. Actually, a kid up in Edmonton, Blues prospect Adam Yo, is the one who had the the dagger in the last minute last year to kick out Canada. But those are games that mean a lot to those kids. And it’s just important to not just get minutes, but meaningful minutes. I think that’ll be big for him. And Canada is doing it differently this year. They’re not going to have the big selection camp. They’re going to basically have their team and run their camp with the team. SP Fishing 69, go to bed. Hm. Rude. Or is it S fishing like P ps or is how do you spell is it or do you know who it is? I do know who it is. All right. Yeah. Yeah. It’s a funny joke because I live out of a suitcase right now. Boom. I see. I uh recently purchased a home. Okay. With the help of our buddy Derek Newman. Right. Is that a segue into a read? Uh, so, so you Well, no, it’s true. So, you bought a you bought a home, but you’re not living in it. Living in it? Would you believe that the people who had it before us uh took the mirrors with them, like the bathroom mirrors? Who does got no mirrors? I got no mirrors. My pet’s heads are falling off, and all I do is paint. So, what are you going to do? Yeah. So, what are you going to do with um our pets heads are falling off when you got to take a long hard look in the mirror? How are you supposed to do that? I look at the wall that I just painted instead. I see. If the paint is still wet, you can kind of get a little bit of your reflection. Mhm. If the lighting is just right. Are you good at it? Are you good at painting? I love painting. Really love it. Honestly, I’m one mental breakdown away from grabbing a scraper and the popcorn’s all going to come off the ceiling. I like painting until it’s done and then I look at it and then I really just hate myself. Why? Cuz it’s Oh jeez, I should have just hired somebody. Why does it look Oh gosh. It’s just Oh jeez. But while you’re doing pay someone thousands of dollars instead of just like I really brush up and down up and down. I know. Yeah. I did some painting not that long ago. I lost the room where I used to do this. Um, my daughter decided that had to be her room. So, now I’ve moved down here into the basement and I took over what I just had little kind of space, which is her old bedroom, but it was girly colors and it was a little too much. So, I decided I was going to paint. And as I was painting, it’s like, you’re really doing it. Boom. You’re really doing it. You went to the paint store, bought some paint, you bought some uh brushes. So that green tape, you taped her all up. It’s just really Oh, you did the tape. And then you come back and you’re like, “This looks like [ __ ] Takes a couple coats. Can’t believe I wasted all my time and money. I should have just left well enough alone.” But no, you had to go and do it. Well, what’s a girly color? What was it before? It was pinky. Pinky. Yeah. Pinky. Pink. Pink. Pinky. Yeah. Hot pink or like a a light. Yeah. It’s like it it looked like uh her wall was white and it got into the wash with a red sweater. Ah. Yeah. That sort of thing. But yeah, you know what? You would like my room. I don’t And that I don’t mean that to sound that’s No, it’s okay. Can you elaborate though? I uh well, I’ll say this. I have uh some some less Pauls and some Stratacasters and Telecasters. Okay. Which do you prefer though? You can’t make me decide. You can’t make me pick. It’s why I have so many of them. Really? I feel like it’s an easy pick. Um I feel like the necks on uh fenders are a little thinner. So, if you got wei hands, it’s a lot easier to play. It depends. I’ve got this Telecaster. It’s a baseball bat. It’s massive. But, yeah, I I think the Strats are the most comfortable. Just it’s kind of got with the curves and everything else. The Teleer is I mean, it’s fine. And the Les Paul is heavy and it’s tippy. Yeah. You know, neck the neck dive on an SG or whatever. Oh, I have a BC Rich. Yeah, I know about a neck dive. Nothing sounds like a Lester Paulo. Any tour sometime? Yes, that’s why I was saying you would enjoy cuz I uh Yeah, I really would. You’ll have to give us a tour sometime. Yeah. Yeah, for sure. Super chat coming in from Trixs McGee. Do you believe Coronado is living up to his contract despite how the season is going? Also, do you think Frostb should be kept as the future vets and mentors or are they not at that stage yet? I don’t think of them maybe as vets and mentors. Haven’t been here for a year yet. Getting there. Doing okay. I think I mean like we said earlier, I do think Coronado is turning a bit of a corner in the season. He is, you know, among the leaders in points on the team. He is the leader in goals on the team. I think he is living up. I mean, it’s kind of the best of what you can get right now. Yeah, I I still view him as being young. I’ve never really thought of whether or not he was earning his keep yet. Um, he’s he’s scoring goals. He’s one of their most He does not have the richest contract in team history. Yeah, it’s I I think he’s right where you would kind of I you’d always be scoring more, I suppose, but on a team that’s starved for offense, he’s one of their top contributors, and he’s still I think he’s he’s a young player who got paid. I had no problem with his production or his uh his salary. The It’s interesting that Frost and Far, they don’t always have to be linked, even though they are. Yes, they played together in Philadelphia and then they were traded here and they play I I don’t know. I still I still feel like there’s there’s more to give with Farabe. I I do like I like watching him play. I think there’s a little bit more there, but it’s also one of those things. He’s a $5 million player and you have all these wingers. Could you for could you move a player like that? Would there be another team that would say, “This guy’s 25 years old. We’d love to Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. There’s not a lot of center depth on this team, so it probably gives Frost a bit of a a leg up on keeping his job. I’m not I’m just not sure how many teams would be looking at either of those players. probably lesser Frost just because it’s the center spot, but saying there’s there’s a player that that we need to the point we’re going to we’re going to give up an asset that’s attractive to the Flames to want to trade him and we’re going to take on that $5 million cap hit. I’m just not really sure. And and at the same So at the same time, could they be part of the team moving forward? Is it part I don’t know if I see them as that either. It’s we were talking with Jamie Mlennon yesterday and the O dog Jeff O’Neal he’s got the the the Jags J A just the guy and it’s maybe a little bit they they’re kind just kind of guys right now every night there’s going to be 20 of them that go out there and play and there’ll be a couple more sitting upstairs and then next year there’s turnover and all of that. I don’t know. If the Flames were a movie, they wouldn’t be the main characters. Yeah. Probably be like, you know, the unnamed extra teammates on the bench in the dramatic shots where they’re kind of out of focus like Boom’s Christmas tree on purpose. Oh, depth depth of field. Oh, it’s a good depth of field there. Boom. Hey, for milk, did you see the NY goal tonight? That is a player I would think I was saying like whoever you need to trade, trade for Matthew N. Yeah, I think they like him. Um, they played this summer. Yeah, it’s he’s he was huge against Calgary, too, when they played there. He’s a beast. He’s young. They He just got paid. He’s Yeah, he’s a tremendous hockey player. So, I think Toronto knows that. A goal and an assist tonight. Yeah, I think they’re casual. Yeah, I think they have that figured out. Yeah. to the earlier point, get you a house, sell your house, find something new, upgrade, downgrade, just get one with mirrors, get Derek to help you out. So, it’s Cir Realy buying or selling, let Derek do the work for you. You can email him at [email protected] or call 40361961 or visit derkneumongroup.com. He’ll probably get back to you in like a hot 10 seconds. But we’ve talked about what’s behind us. Let’s take a look at the road ahead boom. Four straight games now at Dome Sweet Dome. They’re hosting the Utah Mammoth on Saturday. They’re kind of cratering right now. There was a time not long ago that Utah was leading the entire league. They’ve lost four in a row, but absolutely hammered Anaheim 7 nothing on Wednesday. So Calgary is getting them on the second half of a road backto back with the Mammoth in Vancouver on Friday. The Mela had the 27 save shadow. JJ Peter a couple two goals, two assists, and first wild card now with 29 points. But holy how the mighty have fallen. Yeah, it’s when you do something like like what we do, you’re talking about you’re doing shows every day. You you are going to talk about what is happening at that particular time. And when you’re a week, two weeks, 3 weeks into the season, boy, these these San Jose Sharks are amazing. The Ducks and the Mammoths could it’s all coming together. The the the Eizer plan is working in Detroit. Look at all these things happening and some things can are sustainable and then you forget, okay, they’re not that far removed from being the Coyotes. I think they’re a good young team. There’s a lot of young talent there, but when they were tops in the division and Nick Schmaltz was tied with dry cidle for the league lead in goals or whatever it was, like I’m not sure how long that’s going to last, but it’ll be again I I they’re on that road trip like you say that and I believe that’ll be the last of their six games on that road trip. So, if they look like how the Flames looked at the end of their road trip in Nashville, I like the Flames to maybe get a couple wins put together here. Sure would be nice. And yeah, like young team, really promising prospects coming up. I saw JP asked, uh, how’s that young again doing? Assuming you mean Teen, not Joe, but he’s crushing it. He’s got 13 goals in 16 games. player of the month for the dub for November. Getting ready for the Memorial Cup this year. Yeah, 27 points in 16 games. And I mean, Joe not far behind either. I mean, he’s a little lower down the lineup on a pretty stacked Edmonton team, but he’s got 20 points in 28 games. He’s draft eligible this year there. Those kids are gamers. Got the WHL love coming in. Little WHL. I just like to I like to talk about things that I know you do. As you should. That’s why you’re the best. I’m Pierre Maguire with better hair and a worse attitude. Poor Pierre. Where is Pier? Having a good time somewhere. That’s a weird one, right? Cuz there was a time where you just couldn’t go watching Penguins games, I bet. It’s like, oh my god, Pierre’s TSN. He’s on the outdoor games. He’s on every Jeez, can’t shake a whatever. There’s a dead cat. Swing a dead cat. Not sure that’s great, but you couldn’t uh swing a dead cat without hitting Pierre Magcguire. No, I don’t have no idea. No idea what he’s doing. Yeah. Uh answer a question. I didn’t see who asked it though, but TJ is world juniors eligible. So that’s Utah. Then we got the Buffalo Sabres on Monday. Second last in the Eastern Conference, 640 in their last 10. Brutal on the road. 27 and two. Oh, yesesh. Got a big boost. Josh Norris back. He missed 24 games. Uh beat the Jets and then they allowed three goals in a minute to fall to the Flyers on Wednesday. And they’ll have a two-day break before they get here. But if there’s a a theme here, Boom, I think that there are some very winnable games here for those who are not team tank. Yeah, I mean it’s it it’s tough when you’re near the bottom of the standings to be looking at teams above you and say, “Well, there is a winnable game.” But yeah, there they look to be I would not have said that the Minnesota Wild was a winnable game. And here we are after a 4-1 victory. So, um, not everything moves and is, well, you beat these guys, so now you’re for sure going to beat these guys. And those guys lost to them, so you’re they’re going to they’re just they’re going to have to be good again to beat uh to beat the Mammoth. And then Buffalo’s always a bit of a wild card. Not sure what to think of them. And and the same thing with Detroit. had a great start, but then all of a sudden, just looking at the scoreboard tonight, uh they lose in a shootout. Had the lead, lost it with a minute and a half left, and then uh and then lost in the shootout. They’ve lost five or six now. So, I don’t know what uh don’t know what Detroit is. There’s a lot of teams out there. I mean, those are the backto-back cautionary tales against Team Tank, aren’t they? Yeah, it’s Well, no. No. Please tank. Uh just because Buffalo didn’t do it well, it’s still the way to do it. And Detroit is not doing it well. Detroit doesn’t get enough crap for Detroit doesn’t win. You know what it is? Detroit’s been bad. They could not win a draft lottery. They’ve never won. Right. There’s all those years. Well, they were the 30 the worst team in the league and then Stevie Wise on his Zoom call is the Islanders or somebody win the draft lottery. He’s like, “Son of a click.” Hangs up. That’s the only thing that they’ve kind of It’s not the only thing, but they’ve not had any luck getting into the draft lottery. Now, I just because Buffalo again, it’s Gosh, cuz Buffalo did it poorly doesn’t mean that’s not how you do it. Win a draft lottery, get star players, draft well, get young. I mean, Detroit also had an exceptional status player who is not there now. Who’s that? Joe Valeno. Where was he drafted? He’s a firstrounder. He had exceptional status to play in the queue. He’s with Montreal now. I know that he was 30th overall first round. Yeah. Late first rounder. Yeah. Yeah. They got Nate Danielson is getting in there. I mean, they had Mo Cider. I mean, both of Buffalo and Detroit have gotten some high-end talent. Detroit also has this kid EMTT Finny. He was like the second last pick in the draft a couple years ago and he’s popping off a bit. I know he broke Yeah, he because he broke out. Is he still there? He broke out with the team camp and then scored uh kind of a neat story thing. And the thing with Buffalo, everyone shits on them and I guess rightfully so. I wonder how it would look now. They had obviously if you get the McDavid draft, if you get McDavid there, the course has changed. Aside from that, if you you have I mean, the guy they got went on to win a Stanley Cup like the moment he left. Well, fair. Hey, a very good player, a very good player, and they deserve their share of blame for that. But if it’s the best player in the world as opposed to a really good player in the world, that can change things. The two years that they pick first overall, Rasmus Dalene, very good player, not franchise altering like some of them are like Bard it seems to be and Mlin Cbraney seems to be. They get another firstrounder. Oh, and Power. The jury is out on him big time. So, have they mucked things up? For sure they have. But there’s also been some things that just haven’t gone their way. I just really bristle when I hear people, oh, it’s okay, see, look at Detroit and Buffalo, that’s why. No, let’s really try and win some games here. Sure, try and win some games and keep up this [ __ ] we’ve been looking at for 30 years here or figure out how the league works and adjust accordingly. That other guy we were talking about, Conor McDavid, hat-tick and an assist tonight. No, you know what? They beat Seattle 94. You could develop those guys. Develop those guys. Oh, two goals for Matthew Seavoy. That’s nice. Do you want to look at the out of town scoreboard? I got a little uh Let’s Oh, I’ll wrap up the road ahead really quick. Yeah, could you? California, here we come. Don’t get gh mad if you don’t give uh some good love here to Well, yes, of course. We will get there. Get there. You know what? He’ll he’ll be choking on his guoza. He’ll be like, “Next time I see that kept gish, he’s going to get a piece of my mind.” Yeah. I’m gonna be the one who gets thrown across the room. Yeah. Yeah. That’s that’s how I see that going. After Detroit, you have LA and San Jose. Rip roaring. Good times ahead. Thank you to our friends at Platinum Mitsubishi and Mike. Familyowned and operated. Lifelong Calgarians. Get into the best backed cars in the country with a standard 10-year powertrain warranty at Platinum Mitsubishi. 2720 Barlo Trail in the Northeast. Of course, our Mike Gould, a big part of the Platinum family up on Barlo Trail. Yeah. Out of town scoreboard. I did I was kind of looking around. It was 10 games. So 21 or teams or so playing. Uh Boston beat St. Louis. The boss. They’re having a tough tough year. Who likes the fight guy? Jordan Bennington in for all five cuz he got pulled the other night and got all cranky towards his coach and give him the what for? He’s like, “All right, sit in there and eat it.” Uh Morgan Geeky, another goal. He’s got 21 in 29 games. And the Blues, it’s no bueno. They’ve scored two or less in nine of their last 10. So, while the Flames are struggling to score, the Blues are saying, “Hold my beer.” You really sold that. Yeah, I’m feeling it. Uh, Toronto beat Carolina. Good news, bad news for the Leafs. Bobby McMahon. McMahon um gets two goals, NY’s goal and an assist. Leafs have won three in a row, but Joseph Wool, the net minder, left with a lower body injury. Not good. Cam, someone called David. Uh the Islanders the avalanche six to3. Um that’s that’s a rare occurrence where the the Avalanche lose. They hadn’t lost in regulation since October 18th. Where were you October 18th? Because I know where the Avalanche were. They were losing in regulation somewhere. Yeah. Listen, it’s Bo Horvat’s year, I guess. So, Barzel a goal and two assists. Soka 35 saves and um it was uh Brock Nelson Lobster making his return to the New York Islanders. He played 12 years as an Islander. Must have been an emotional night for the Brock Lobster. His face be all red. I don’t know what it is about USA hockey at international events, but there’s always one guy who just gets the worst head shot. It was Brock Nelson because they made him look 5,000 years old when he is not at Four Nations. And then it was Phil Kessle. Do you remember the Phil Kessle head shot? I don’t. I I mean the the uh Find it. He looked like he had been Yeah. He looked like he had been arrested for robbing a rural Manitoba liquor store. Keep reading the scores. I’m to find this. That’s all right. Uh Matthew Schaefer of the Islanders had an assist. The second fastest 18-year-old Dman to reach 20 points. Phil Hley did it in 25 games. So, even better than Matthew Schaefer is what you take from that. Uh, the New York Rangers beat the Senators 4 to2. JT Miller, great guy. Great, just great guy. Three assists. Big efforts. Our Tammy Paneran goal in an assist. He hits the 900 point plateau. The Rangers have 12 road wins. That’s the best road win record in the NHL. Rangers have won five of six. The Senators, another one of those teams, Cammy, that we talked about. Hey, look at these guys. are good. They turned the corner. They’ve lost three of four. Jocks Pittsburgh Penguins 43 win over Tampa. 4-1 and one in their last six. Dan the man. Dan’s got the boys rolling. He’s got him rolling. Benny Kendall. He gets another goal. Beauty. Malcin. Two goals. Malcin. Malin. Malcin. Malc. Grab a glass of Malc. Uh Columbus put a lot of effort into that pun. Like what? 2%. Ah, just don’t be a home. No, that’s not nice. Uh, Columbus 65 shootout over to Detroit. Adam Fanilly. Van Tilly Lace and a pretty face and a ponytail hanging down. Uh, ties it with a minute and a half left. Marenko and Kent Johnson also score. Red Wings have lost five of six. The Nashvilians, they play Florida and beat them two to one. Stam Coast scores with just over just under a minute left in overtime. Those Predators, they’ve won four or five. Good job, Nashville. Happy for you. That’s what we want to see from the Predators in the community. Yeah, that’s what we need right there. I believe we also have the castle headsh shot now. Oh, okay. Imagine if you’re getting ready to play some of the biggest games of your life and this is what your team does to you. Yeah, it’s I mean it’s there’s a there’s a few things going on. The sideways boy dirty. Yeah, the sideways kind of. It’s like, can I just face the camera? No, we’d like you to sit kind of sideways kind of seductively. Can you do some blue steel to the camera? Have you got it? Have you got that? Have I got It’s like if you zoomed out there would be like the other silhouette shot of him like staring into the distance. Yeah. Thing I like about Phil is he he just doesn’t care. He’s never cared. He’s a guy like hot dogs. I don’t really like cardio. He likes and I can I can score more goals than any of you guys in the room probably. That boy Phil jealous. Wish I was that good at anything. Could have played would have been a star in any generation, right? Yeah. Could have just you knew how to do it. Uh the Oilers with a big 94 win over the Seattle who of course the Flames are going to see right away. And uh Chicago two-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings. Chicago. Do you like it when Chicago is good? They’re in a wild card spot. As someone who grew up in BC in the 2010s, was not a fan of Chicago growing up, actually. Oh, come on. I mean, it’s uh well, what’s his name there? Sis Twassan. Twassen in Twassan. Is that where he’s from? Yeah. Yeah, sure is. So you were a kuck honk. Is that what you were saying? I mean you were loving loving some Alexander Burrows. My mom was a actually have an Alex Burrows jersey. But I also have a lot of Flames jerseys. Got a lot of jerseys in general. Actually I have a Blackhawks jersey too. Nicholas Jalmerson. Oh yeah. He was great. Yeah. Yeah. Good for Chicago. Yeah. Connor Baddard for team Canada. Get up. Yep. Yeah. So, that’s the out of town scoreboard. What do you have for 365 tomorrow? That’s for no one. Yeah. Really? For no one. I did uh take a look at the SK 4 tomorrow for uh bet 365. Uh get in the game, the official gaming partner of Barn Burner and Afterburner. It’s uh you got your game props, player props, totals, the money line. It’s all there for you at bet 365. Use the app and get in on the game. looking at the docket, if you will, for tomorrow. Uh the just a few things here now. The Sabres, they’re kind of up and down. You know what are but the Jets are in a bad way. Yes, they’re at home, but they have, I believe, one win in about two weeks. Every Canadian team is in a bad way. Without Connor Halabuk, it has Life is not good. They have tumbled out of the playoffs altogether. They are 36 and one now. I mean, they’re a couple points back, but that’s not where you would expect to see the Winnipeg Jets. The Sabres, uh, if you go money line, they’re plus 150. A little money. You want I’m just thinking what you can do here, Cammy. So, maybe you want to do a little Let’s take a couple underdogs on the money line. So, just win, baby. Just win. The New Jersey Devils are plus money at home against Vegas. Now, the Devils lost at home the other night. It is just their they are now 93 and one on home ice. Can I uh can I interest you in maybe a little Devil’s Sabres money line plus money? We you know, got to juice that up. Oh, juice that up cuz I don’t like uh the Sharks, not that I think that it’s fallen off completely, but uh they got beaten badly. I think it was last night. Stars are very good. Uh the Mammoth and the Canucks. Uh the Canucks are not very good. No, which we’ll talk about uh in a moment. And then I’m not sure the Ducks at home. They’re a plus money team. I don’t mind that one as well, but they also like the SH. They’ve been they’ve been taking in the teeth a little bit here. They can maybe bounce back against the Caps. But either way, that’s uh that’s how you roll. Or maybe you like the overunders or maybe you like the puck line. Maybe you get into the app, you’re like, I I think that cutter go I think cutter goce is going to score a goal. I like this celebrity kid. I think he’s getting two or more points. Vegas. I that that uh Eel kid, he’s unbelievable. I think it’s incredible. You’re like the Wolf of Wall Street. Boom. Yeah, that’s exactly what I am. I get it a lot. So that is tomorrow’s slate. Five games in the league of national of the hockey variety for bet 365. Whatever your bet is, it’s never ordinary at bet365. Again, we got a couple super chats we’ll get through and then I have a question for you, then we’ll probably wrap it up. Gordon Boomer, how about that Olympic ice? Well, see, Gordon, yeah. Uh Gordon is one of the few people who didn’t get the joke. Um which is fine. which is fine. He’s not alone. So, uh, we were talking yesterday, Pinder had it on the Pinder report about how Pete that the story about Peter Dbor talking about the Olympic ice coming up in Italy, the Cortina, this and that, that the ice surface is actually smaller and Pender was like, “This is not news. I don’t know why this is coming up in the news cycle. It’s so then I kind of went, it’s like, yeah, this is this is [ __ ] I can’t believe the point being and I said this on the other show today and I’ll echo I’ll echo it exactly what I said on the other show. I was talking about how Pinder was genuinely being agitated that people didn’t understand what was up with the with the ice that they hadn’t heard this story. How could it was back in the news cycle like duh because me I don’t give a [ __ ] about the Olympics or the ice. So, I mean, I I wouldn’t be uh ranting about that. Uh, but I did enjoy that Pinder sincerely um it it got into it into his bonnet that uh like how do we how are we still talking about this? I just I don’t know what I don’t know. This is back in the news cycle was how he put it. So, well, some would argue that it’s not about the size of the ice, it’s how they use it. But Olympics are still miles away. We’ll get there. We’ll get there. We have more me. I’m I’m more ready for the World Juniors. Boxing Day, baby. That’s where my focus is. Yes, sir. Thanks, Gourd. Anderson to Pittsburgh for Benny Kindle and a first. Just an absurdly fair trade, right? Yeah. Yeah. Pull the tray. Get Craig on the horn. Yeah. I think that definitely the Pittsburgh Penguins want a guy a guy on an expiring contract to make a big run that they would give up a young player in a first. I think we got to be close. Thank you, Lord Bolo. But yes, can’t wait till you’re an NHLG Monday. Oh, but see, but there he was in on the joke, right? So, it’s about we got to just decipher where things are coming from. That’s a stupid trade. Oh, what the hell are you thinking, Derek? Gar. See, we’re smarter than that. We know that Lord Bolo was taking the piss out. I mean, he’s just having some fun. You’re smarter than your average bear. Although, I learned tonight that um Boom doesn’t have Spotify rap because I really wanted to know what would be in the mix for him. Doesn’t have it. Doesn’t have it. So, this is kind of the uh Hey, here’s what you listen to in 2025. Yes. What kind of grudge death metal is on your list? It’s got to be stuff like that, right? Actually, it was a little lighter. I got like for artists, I got like Wet Leg, a very fun band from Wales, Arctic Monkeys, Rolling Stones. But um I took a wild guess at what your song of the year would be. Yeah, I’m not a small depression era nonsense. Actually, no. This is what I thought your song of the year would be. Boom. Hit it, Jack. Dang it. I don’t know if it’s going to work. Putting Jack in the [Music] That’s what you’re listening to on Apple Music, right? That’s That’s what I have in That’s what’s in That’s my room that I was telling you about. The Les Paul is in the corner. You just can’t see Yeah, you just can’t see the the guitars from that shot. What people don’t realize is how much ass that guy gets. Those suspenders. Look out, ladies. I could listen to it for days. Honestly, the first time I saw this, I think I spent an hour watching videos of different photo players, which is what that instrument is called. Is that what it is? Yep. Well, at least the clip isn’t too long. I I was kind of expecting Jack to just cut it off at some point. Yeah, but that’s also what my brain looks like when I try to form a coherent thought. Nice. Well, I’m happy you’re happy. Yes, that is that was what would be on my Spotify if I had Spotify. That would be it right there. Nailed it. That’d be the one. You got it. Number one. You got it. You got it for this nonsense and more. You want to hang out with people like Boom. Have conversations like this. Some edifying humor. That’s right. Some riveting insight. Come hang out in Jasper. The old pond hockey tournament’s coming back at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge January 23rd to the 25th, 2026. Four on four pond hockey on the ODR. Are you going? I am Am I invited? Sure, of course. Okay. I can almost do a crossover at speed. Uh yeah, it’s um the pond hockeyy’s tricky. It’s They go four on four on a small It’s this small P. You need good You need good mits. Hey, Jack. Jack’s got Jack’s got good mits. I do got the mits. I don’t have the the cardio. That’s But that’s You put all of us together, you got one fully functional player. There you go. I’m I’m good at uh coaching. Yeah, Cammy, you can have my spot this year. Deal. What does that mean? I’ll be uh the assistant coach. Oh, I see. No, you can’t be your age and be opting out. We need your young legs. I’m an old fart. I’m done. Yes, it is a great event. Uh I’m not even sure on where you sign up for it because it doesn’t say it on the graphic because why would it? No. But um so so I guess go online and hunt around for how to do it. Google it. Heck yeah. Well, maybe the Aussies will come make their way across the globe, give up what is their summer to. It’s a great event. Play pond hockey. They look fantastic. The prizes look incredible every year when you guys bring them back. Great hosts up there. The lodge is awesome. And it’s I mean, it’s postcard type stuff. It’s literally one of those things. you’re on a pond and there’s mountains around you and if you get that kind of a day and we seem to get one at least one every year if not the whole weekend where it’s just blue skies and mountains and it’s uh it’s a great weekend. So definitely uh however you sign up go and figure out how to sign up and then sign up. Heck yeah. Well, I think it’s been half an hour since we talked about the flames. What do you say we wrap it up there? Boom. Anything else you wanted to chat about? I don’t you know what it’s it’s this this tugofwar that you have I think that a lot of fans are having. You’re you’re in this it’s a one-1 game and you’re thinking well they’re going to probably lose this game and then they find a way. Hey, Coronado. All right. 3-1 3-1 because I believe now with with points percentage and that it’s okay. Hey, well you said Vancouver now is uh well Vancouver has 23 points. Flames move to 24. I think in points percentage the Flames are still 32nd. But um and it’s just I I know we talked about it already and when you hear team tank I just I talk about things that I bristle about. Um, to me, tanking is when you have the option to do something something better, but you’re choosing losses over victories. That is, to me, that is tanking to me. It’s another thing when you are one of the worst when you have one of the worst records and you just and and you need desperately to find game-changing talent. I I just can’t think of any other business or scenario in life where you would look at something. We don’t have it and to survive, we need it desperately. But I think we’re good. We’ll pass. I just don’t know in what other it just makes no sense to me. But now again, if they if they win some games and if they have a a December like they did in November and all that, then maybe they get to a point where they’re closer to a wild card than the bottom and it’s all moot. But I just don’t in one breath you see Zer start to score and it’s been a long time for Jonathan Hubedo to get a goal. Dustin Wolf rebounds in amazing fashion. this it it just feels like it’s a season where scoring is going to be incredibly difficult and they have now played whatever it is 25 29 games. I don’t know how long you can go Roland Weaguer and Anderson for 24 or 26 a night, right? They’re they’re they’re they’re not young bucks, but they are they are proving that they’re not the this is not the worst Flames team. Like we thought maybe that after the first three, four weeks of the season like this might be the worst thing we’ve ever seen and it’s clearly not that. They’ve got some heart. They’ve got some compet they’ve got that competitive spirit. They’ve got some good players. Their goalie on any given night has given them a chance to win. But, uh, we’ll we’ll see how this continues to roll. Just I didn’t think they would beat I didn’t think they would hang with Dallas at all. I didn’t think they’d go to Florida and win, especially after they were down two nothing early. And I did not think they were winning tonight, but they have found a way. So, you have to even even if you are kind of like me and you’re thinking, man, a first overall pick, you’ve never picked in the top three. How about first? How about a stud superstar? That’d be pretty great. Uh, you can’t begrudge the players and the coaches for busting their ass to go out and get wins. So, good for them. Happy for them tonight for sure. And that’s what we call a next play mentality. That seems like a lovely place to end it. Boom. Thanks for hanging out, everybody.

I wonder how many wins they have against backup goaltending
Big fan of the Boomer / Cami dynamic. More of these two on After Burner please
KQ still sucks
Obviously if you can get a great haul back for Rasmus I get it, can get something similar for the nearly 3 year older Weegar?!? It may be too late now bc he’s not having a good year, but IF he still has the value some think he does, why not trade the nearly 32 year old instead of a guy who just turned 29?
In a perfect world they tear it to the studs and get good to very good value back for BOTH, but if only one and some teams value Weegar as much as Rasmus, why not keep the guy w/ the longer run way?
Sick looking hat Boom!
