Dillon Brooks Shootaround Media Availability | Phoenix Suns | 12-5-25
flip the switch once the game starts. What do you mean mentalitywise going into this knowing that you have a fan base that that appreciates you, but you’re going to be on the other end uh tonight? Win the game. We got tough stretch coming up. We’re in the tough stretch right now. Uh scratch every win we get. Are you still carry that with you that you retach that still in you right now? When I come here, for sure. Okay. Okay. But, you know, it’s just part of the process. I’m in Phoenix. Great home, great fans, great city. Um, and we’re, you know, changing this stuff here. Know the team got in a little later, but you will go to the arena instead of shoot. Did you do that last night? No, I didn’t. Um, I plan on probably doing that tomorrow if they let me. Um, but you know, um, this is my time. I come in early this morning, me and Ryan getting some shots. Um, continue my routine. When you walked in, what kind of emotions came up for you? Um, just felt like I was at home. You know, rims felt the same. I wish my villain seats were still here, but um, overall just the room feel friendly. Uh, looks the same. Can’t wait to go to this one. you and Fred and Eay kind of turn the culture here. You and Eay specifically, why do you guys think you had such a strong bond in relationship? I think we have the same like minds. We both find ourselves on defense. Um, no mentality. Sides players. Um, you know, I got along with some of my good friends. Um, did they vocalize when you came here that they wanted you to use your voice and be kind of a leader for this group in that way? Yeah. Uh, they knew I did that for Memphis. So, I wanted the same things, you know, the young guys in the right direction. Um, good job. Dylan, when you got here, this team had was coming off a losing record. Was was your mindset like I’m going to personally turn this around? How did you approach when you actually got the game? I think it was a combination of me and Fred uh you know trying to build something up. You know, first year we were 41 and 41 and we knew that we needed to be better. So, you know, with the onslide of a men being who he is now, um, Alfie getting better, Jaylen getting better, and our young guys, Tari, those guys getting better, you know, the job was easier. So, um, just still in the little things like we’re doing here. Um, with defensive coverages, the discipline, the sacrifice you got to make, and, um, you know, you can see stuff grow. Your interaction with M was crazy the last game. I mean, obviously he like it like he turned to you and started laughing and you turned back at him in the first half and then you went over to him and said, “What what are you going to make of that call?” But maybe just would you expect him to have that kind of back and forth with him doing that again? Probably. Oh, I was another one today and he doesn’t look away. So he’s you can lose 2500. So uh do you feel like your time here revived your your reputation at all and do you even care about that? I guess no. I just feel like they gave me more chance to, you know, showcase myself um and not, you know, limit me to, you know, my game and my uh and what I and what I can do or can do. So, um you know, they gave me another shot with, you know, the what I wanted and you know, I’m appreciative always. Different personnel for both teams tonight. What are the biggest takeaways from your first meeting that you want to try to clean up here tonight? Um, offensive rebounding for sure. They’re probably going to play a little slower with Durant back. So, you know, that helps in our favor. Um, offensive rebounding overall, you know, get extra possessions. Can’t have them have extra possessions. We got to get more possessions in them and be able to, you know, shoot the ball a little bit better. What is it about this offense? You’ve been at 22, 23 games now. What is it about this offense, this system that’s not only unlocked it for you, but like Colin Goody, the other guys? What have you seen or felt? It’s very unselfish. You’re able to open up, you know, parts of the um parts of the court where we can drive and make plays. Um I mean, all summer I’ve been working on my mid-rank, so it’s opening up a lot of that. So, um, you know, just having space, be able to make plays for our teammates or yourself is what is making me, Colin, Goody, quote, whoever, whoever has put into this offense successfully. One of the things that about you is that this year, you’ve been able to handle the ball more that’s leading to what you’ve done offense. How much have you done that? Thanks, Jordan. trusting me to play, you know, with the ball in my hands and trusting me to make plays. Um, and, you know, I hope it keeps going on and on and I’m only going to get better and better with with time. Last thing I did have though, what kind of reaction are you expecting tonight? Whatever. I’m just suspecting the reaction when we win at the end of the game. Excel is
