Let’s grade the last five Carolina Panthers first round picks. And now that we have a decent sample size from 2025, we could talk about Ted McMillan, who was picked eighth out of Arizona. And I’m going to be giving this one an A. Ted, even with maybe below average QB play, has looked like a true wide receiver one in this league this year. He’s got about 56 catches, about 800 yards, and five touchdowns so far. And definitely a better wide receiver pick than who they took with the 32nd pick trading back up into the first round in 2024 to select Xavier Get out of South Carolina. I’m giving this one a D. Maybe it’s because of quarterback play, but Legget has been a little bit disappointing so far as Ted McMillan already has more receiving yards this year than Legette has between this year and last year combined. And in 2023, Carolina traded up from pick nine to pick one. One of those picks that they moved to move up ended up being Caleb Williams, the number one pick from 2024. They moved up to select Bryce Young, an inferior quarterback in my opinion, out of Alabama. I’m giving this one a D. Now, if Bryce Young could play the Atlanta Falcons every week, this would be an A+. But I think there’s been way more bad than good with Bryce Young so far. are. And if you take into account what they gave up to get number one, honestly, this may be generous of me not to give it an F. Equu was a top 10 pick, number six overall in the 2022 draft, the offensive lineman out of North Carolina State. I’m giving this one a B. Maybe a slower start to Aonu’s career, but has really been a rock solid tackle for a very improved Panthers offensive line as of late. They also had a top 10 pick in 2021. They selected JC Horn, the corner, out of South Carolina. And I’m going to give this one an A. Horn has been one of the better cornerbacks in the league over the last few years.   11. I've been waiting for Carolina for you analysis of BY9. I think D is a little harsh, he played well against Dallas and the Rams and the cardinals last year. There are others, but I think D is a little low. C- for me right now. And that's as a lifelong Carolina fan. He misses WAY too many throws. I love XL as a person, but damn, he is producing worse than an undrafted free agent. Seriously. Jalen Coker is better than he has been.
