[Robinson] While not finalized, hearing that Peter DeBoer and the LAK have had advanced discussions. I’m told DeBoer is quite happy at the moment, so a deal would seemingly need to be substantial for him to sign on.

  2. I don’t care much for DeBoer, but he’s easily the best coach available. The only issue is that this group doesn’t have a lot of runway as currently constructed.

    DeBoer gets a bad wrap, and it’s deserved in some ways. But he at least has the ability to bring us SOME playoff success and experience.

  11. Very much like signing Perry (with his Cup final losses curse), this org is in “beggars cant be choosers” territory.

    Deboer has his flaws but if this team is deadset on making playoffs rather than tearing it down, then this is a pretty easy move to make.

    Teams almost always go down from spots like that, which sucks because of how strong they are in the Pacific right now. If they can get out of their heads, this is still a defensively strong team that’s struggled to extract offense from their players for some reason, and I’m starting to think it’s a systems issue

  19. Idk if this is true, but still, I really don’t want Deboer. I don’t want a quick fix type of move. I don’t want the team to get “back to how they were”. This team needs to be forced into changing. Maybe if Deboer just wants to finish the season here, then okay. Bc I doubt he’d want to coach for a rebuilding (🤞) team.

  23. Our prayers have been answered. DeBoer, for his faults, is an NHL caliber coach with a good track record of turning teams around and going deep into the playoffs. That’s much more than Jim Hiller can say, guy is a total hack.

  24. On one hand, I look at our record and roster and think “yeah this is about right for where this team should be on paper”.

    On the other hand, the decisions Hiller makes that are visible to me seem constantly at odds with success.

    I have no idea how effective he actually is as a coach.

  28. I’d be happy to see Hiller out but this leaking looks so fucking bad, but where we are in the standings doesn’t reflect our play. We’re lucky our division is as weak as it is and hopefully a coaching change can give this team a much needed morale boost.

    Edit: that being said, I’m firmly in the “we need a complete rebuild asap” camp and is DeBoer the guy to guide us through that? I genuinely don’t know. He’s a good coach so hopefully he would be willing to.
