Are the Pittsburgh Pirates Going All-In?

The Pittsburgh Pirates are going allin. Now, that’s something I never thought I was going to hear, but here we are. And Jeff Passen is reporting that the Pittsburgh Pirates are in on the Kyle Schwarber sweep stakes. Schwarber, one of the best power hitters in baseball and one of the biggest names on the free agent market, has no shortage of suitors, but the Pirates find themselves as a legit contender for his signature. This is coming just days after a Yankees beatw writer reported that Paul Ske wanted to play for the Yankees and the Pirates quote understood. Skins was later refute the report saying that he wants to win in Pittsburgh and for the first time in a while it looks like the Pirates ownership group wants to win in Pittsburgh too because Passen also reported that the Pirates were offering a contract in the range of $80 million to first baseman Josh Naylor. He obviously went and resigned with Seattle, but the Pirates see an obvious need for offense and are willing to pay for it. And the picture passing is painting is that the Pirates are in win now mode right now, looking to promote the number one prospect in all of baseball, Connor Griffin, who is a 19-year-old shortstop. Griffin made it all the way up to double A in the first year of his pro career last year, and Passin is reporting that he has a legitimate shot to win the starting shortstop role for the Pirates on opening day. Now, all of this is a complete vibe switch from what we’ve seen from the Pirates organization in the past decade or so. So, you guys let me know. Do you actually believe that Paul Ske is going to pressure the Pittsburgh Pirates into paying up and pushing for the postseason?

Pittsburgh Pirates Offseason rumors as they look to spend and win with Paul Skenes. Will the call up Konnor Griffin? Will they sign a big hitter like Kyle Schwarber?
