Toronto Maple Leafs TRADE Matias Maccelli to the Dallas Stars OR? Leafs Trade Rumours + NHL News

A guy that keeps getting talked about is Matias Bachelli. It just hasn’t worked with Craig Burby. It hasn’t worked with this system. So, a lot of people have been floating trades. I think somebody like a couple months ago suggested the bunting for Machelli thing. I brought it up a month ago. I think a lot of people are talking about it now because they’ve won uh some games here and Machelli hasn’t been in the lineup. So I think when you look at the perspective for Toronto, could they trade Machelli for a different style like Bunting or could they trade Michel for a defenseman when you have guys like Tanov and Carlo out for the foreseeable future? So I think the defense options intriguing. Uh but also bunting back with Toronto could make some sense. So this was also sent out. This was prior to the Hurricanes game. Of course the Leafs beat the Hurricanes 5 to1 just with the Leafs record. didn’t look good and it hasn’t really looked good for playoffs, but I’ve kind of said it’s a roller coaster season. I don’t think Toronto’s going to be out of it. I think if they do miss the playoffs, they’ll be right in it at the end. I still think they make it. We’ll see. Uh but yeah, I think Robertson, McMahon, Michelli, I think at least one of those guys are going to get traded at some point here. Uh and it likely is Michelli because he hasn’t been in the lineup. Uh this is a pretty good summary from Leaf Leaf Land. Josh, uh, for all of you unfamiliar with dynamics and coaching front office, Berubi just said, “This isn’t my guy.” Uh, when he’s talking about Machelli, I don’t know why we traded for him and I tried to give him a role, but it didn’t work. Trey Leven needs to move on for Machelli. Yeah. So, that’s kind of how Burub’s gone about this. He gave him a first line opportunity. He gave him a second line opportunity. He gave him a third line, fourth line. He’s played on every possible line this season so far. It just hasn’t worked consistently. He’s had moments uh but it hasn’t worked. And I keep going back to the Dallas fit, guys. I just I keep going back to it. Dallas has now lost Tyler Sean potentially for the season. Uh they’ve had other injury issues. Duchain’s been out. I think they need some forwards potentially. Nick Robertson’s had a great start to the year. Of course, it’s just natural to suggest Nick Robertson and Jason Robertson uniting together in Dallas. I also think the Finland representation in Dallas could be a good fit for Machelli. Yarn Crow, good veteran guy, could be a fourth liner in Dallas. You know what, Maverick Bourke, I think he’s had an okay start to the season. I think he has like four goals. Uh, so I think when you look at Maverick Bourc and Robertson as like a change of scenery type of thing, even though Robertson’s at a good start, Bour’s had his moments. And then Neil Linquist, he’s kind of always looked on the outside. he does get some time with Dallas, but I think when you’re looking for Toronto puck mover and the fact that they’ve had Carlo and Tanavout, you need a right shot guy. I I think there’s a lot of ways that Toronto and Dallas could trade together here. So, uh it might not be this trade exactly, but the players that I have on the board there, I could see some involvement. Whether it’s Machelli for a defenseman, whether it’s Robertson going to Dallas, I could see a couple different scenarios. If Maverick Bourke is not acquired, Nick Robertson’s on that fourth line. I just don’t think Robertson has the patience to be on the fourth line anymore. So, it could stay like he looked excited when Lton scored his second goal. So, it’s possible. But, uh, what I’m looking at here is if Domi and Matthews can find that connection again and and of course they had that connection with that goal against Carolina. If they can get more of that going, Domy being that playmaker at 3.75, limit the mistakes. I think fans are okay with Doy. It’s just when he makes those brutal mistakes. uh Matthews and Ny if they can get going this season. I would like to see the mistakes limited from Knander and Cowan because we saw that a couple times against Carolina. Uh but yeah, I think there’s balance across the board and if that third line can be an identity line, you can get creative with Lton and I love that I saw it against Carolina. Bubby was putting Lton out in different situations. So I think it’s a very deep team. I think the depth is great. I think the third line is getting better. So, you know what? The depth had the criticisms and I would say valid, but Nick W looked so much better the last few games and Dakota Joshua the last three games. So, I I think if those guys can continue like this, then you’re less worried about the depth and those guys can step up in playoffs. You just need to get the defense healthy. And that’s why maybe bringing in a guy now with Michelli or uh Yarn Crow going the other way, I think makes a lot of sense, especially because the Leafs are so crowded in the forward group. Uh, and if there’s a way to get Philip Myers out of the lineup every night or most nights, I think that’s ideal. Like Phil Myers, actually the last two games has been fine. I’m not trying to jinx it. He’s been fine. He’s been okay. You know what you get from Phil Meyers uh in terms of the ceiling, but it’s a really low floor. It can get really bad with Phil Meyers. So, if you can keep him out of the scenario, I think a guy like Neil Lenquist who’s on a smaller capit could make some sense. But there’s other options out there.
