Falcons Can Still Win the Division — Believe It or Not

Okay, so Chuck’s number one takeaway from yesterday’s Falcons win comes with italics. Do tell. Yeah, it really does. Um, my number one takeaway is the Falcons can still win this division, but the Italics Falcons can still win this division. Not a normal division, not a good division. They can win this division mostly because of how awful it is. Um, and that’s that’s the big part of this. But until the math says no, do not turn away yet. It would be best to keep paying attention to this team simply because of math. Um, when I said earlier that there are two things that are true. The Falcons aren’t good. Um, that’s true. The Falcons can win the division. Uh my biggest takeaway yesterday, actually bigger picture than just yesterday’s game for the Falcons is how bad the Falcons must have to be to lose to Carolina twice. And the reason I was thinking about that was how bad Carolina must be to lose to that team we saw in the Saints yesterday. There was good from yesterday and we can talk it. Uh pass rush good. Darnell’s game. Yes. As well as the super surprise that Kirk had even one deep throw in that shoulder. There was good stuff. And it there was some clock management. You take that out. It was not a horrible game on the sidelines either. So, you know, good for them. They went on the road. They beat a division opponent by two touchdowns. I’ll take it. Saints are as bad a team as there is in the NFL this year. And so if you’re looking at they beat Carolina and Tampa’s all beat up right now, the math is the only thing because of this division, they can still win it. I’m going to try to watch my tone here. I’m going to try my best. So if my tone gets out of hand, you guys tell me I can also win the presidency. The math says I can. If I run, I can win. This team can’t win. Matt makes it political. They can’t win the division. Yes, they can mathematically win the division. You’re gaslighting me. I’m not gaslighting. You’re gaslighting the Falcon fandom. I’m triggered right now. All these words that I’ve learned in therapy, and I’m not going to let you do it, so I’m going to watch my tone. You’re gaslighting me. They can’t win the division. Falcons aren’t good. They’re not even better. Actually, they’re different. They’re better on defense. They’re more exciting on defense. I’ll put it that way. They’re not maybe better. They can’t win the division. They can’t. The division may come to them. No. No. It’s Don’t You’re gaslighting again. You’re gas. No, we can’t. Tampa will win the next two games because they play Drek. They will be eight and five. I don’t know why I’m doing this and my tone’s getting bad. Baker might be hurt. So, I don’t Yeah, Baker is flopping around like he got shanked in the yard. Okay. All right. Okay. I’m Hold on. Okay. Tampa’s going to win their next two. They play Dre. They’ll be eight and five. The Falcons will lose either to the Jets or Arizona. They’ll probably lose to Seattle because Tampa plays Dre, not Atlanta. Right. But but the Bucks are playing Drek. Well, they beat Dre most times. We have lost to Dre. You just said, “Oh, no. They lost to Carolina twice.” One time they no showed. The other time they lost in overtime. Well, how’ the Falcons lose the the Dolphins? They no-showed. How did they lose in overtime back to back? Because that’s what they do. This team is ticketed to win seven games. That’s And if you tell me they can win the division with seven, then I’ll take my tone away and say you’re not gaslighting me. They can’t win the division. You’re going to need to win nine games to win the division. Do you really think they can win nine games and win the tiebreaker with Carolina, which they don’t have? To win a tiebreaker with Tampa means they got to win there on a Thursday night. So, can they win the division? No. Can they win the division mathematically? Yes. No, they can’t win the division. Sorry for my tone. They’re not good enough to be an NFL division winner. They can win this division. No, they can’t. Stop gaslighting me. They can’t win this division. They can’t win any division. They can’t win the quad A state Georgia playoffs. They can’t. A quad A North, whatever. I don’t know. But I just I don’t know what gaslighting means. I think you’re gaslighting. Beat Cedar Scholes. Easy. Um, no. I’m I’m just telling you the math and that you have no choice because of the division. You have to keep paying attention. The division has refused to run away from you. When they if they beat the Jets, they’re going to be five and seven. You’re going to get a lot of use. There going to be a lot of you’s going, “Well, here’s how and this is how and here’s how.” And because of the math, not because of the team. But don’t waste your math. Your math is better. Your math has better things to do. Your math is more important. My math is smarter than that. Your math is smarter than that. Don’t waste your math and don’t waste these people. And I love you people listening. Don’t waste your time with this this team. I’m saying but it’s beyond us. It’s beyond the Falcons. It’s the other three teams. So let’s go through the exercise. Do you What did you see yesterday with New Orleans? Give me your evaluation. New Orleans is horrific at one of the worst teams that I’ve seen the Saints have. Sure. They beat Carolina twice. Carolina beat you. You still have one more game with Tampa. Their quarterback’s hurt. What do you think’s going to happen Thursday night in Tampa with the Falcons? Yeah. Oh, I think they lose 30 to 17. Okay, fine. What do you think happens Monday night against the Rams? If the Rams have it salted away, McVey couldn’t care less. Let’s say they don’t. Um, they’re better. I don’t know. If they go on a road trip all the way across America, what would you bet in the game? I bet the Rams. Okay. What about Seattle against the Falcons? Seattle’s better. Okay. I just gave you three losses right there without the other direct on the Falcons schedule. And now you’ve got how many losses? 10. Do you know how many wins that could equal? Seven. Stop. Like, no. They can’t win the division. Sorry. I’m not I’m not doing it. And I’m I’m You don’t have a choice until No, I do have a choice. I’m not doing your math. I’m not going to do your math. This is new math. You know, you you don’t have kids, but when your kids come home and explain to you how they’re doing their math, I can get the answer. I just can’t tell them how to to figure out the way they need to. I’m not playing your math games. As long as you don’t equate it to, oh, they’ve turned the corner or they’re getting better or this is an answer. Because Kirk isn’t an answer. He was an answer last year. He’s not an answer. Now, will you show your work? Cuz you showed your work and just came up with three losses and followed it with they can win the division. When you showed your work, you’re like, they lose that game. I said what I expect. Okay. I Let me be clear. I’d be pretty happy if they won the division. Like a playoff game sounds cool. I heard they have those in other cities. And if you win the division, they let you do it at home. Like, I’d be pretty happy about that. I’d sign up for it. It’s not going to happen. Nor should you expect it to

Chuck & Chernoff, hosted by Chuck Oliver and Matt Chernoff, breaks down how the Falcons still have a realistic chance to win the NFC South following their victory over the Saints. Chuck emphasizes that despite the Falcons not being a particularly strong team, the overall weakness of the division keeps the opportunity alive. Chernoff disagrees, arguing that Atlanta simply isn’t good enough to take advantage of the NFC South’s struggles.

  1. A BIG NO, BECAUSE THEY BEAT A BAD SAINTS TEAM AND WENT 3 FOR 10 ON THIRD DOWN REALLY OLD KIRK COUSIN IN THE PLAYOFFS CANT REALLY MOVE IN THE POCKET CANT GET YOU THAT FIRST DOWN WITH HIS LEGS RAHEEM MORRIS AND ZAC ROBINSON CALLING THESE COLLEGE PLAYES HAVE YOU GUYS FORGOT THAT FAST WE JUST LOST 5 GAMES IN A ROW WAIT UNTIL THEY PLAY THE RAMS AND THE SEAHAWKS OR TAMPA BAY 😢 THEY BETTER BE READY TO PLAY THE JETS UP SET ALERT BECAUSE THIS GOING TO BE A GOOD WINN FOR THE JETS .

  2. DONT LET THAT GUY ON THE POTIUM FILL YOUR HEAD UP WITH GARBAGE THE ATLANTA FALCONS HAVE A SERIOUS ORGANIZATION PROBLEM WITH ALL THESE BAD DECISION THEY HAVE MADE FACTS. ARUTHER BLANKS NEED TO RELEASE THIS STAFF ASAP IF NOT THE ATLANTA FALCONS ORGANIZATION WILL BE SET BACK 7 MORE YEARS WITH OUT MAKING THE PLAYOFFS UNACCEPTABLE .

  3. Is like to see the falcons win the division just to see his response to them winning it. Let’s see how they do against the Jets. Say they win that game and I say I see Chuck’s point. If mayfield misses 2 or 3 games I could see the division coming to them but they would have to beat a team they shouldn’t beat. It is the Falcons though lol

  4. I mean we have hung in with the best of them and winnable games. 49ners, pats, colts, tampa, Carolina. But I have no faith in raheem. Maybe the team can rally behind the vet, kirk cousins. Wishful thinking but it sucks

  5. Chuck’s right. Playing in the NFC South is what kept the Falcons competitive dating back to the Arthur Smith years, and his teams were worse than this one. Do I think it WILL happen? No. But Tampa Bay is a flawed team, eaten up with injuries, and the Panthers don’t play Atlanta anymore. It’s the scenario that could very possibly get Raheem Morris another year at the helm, unfortunately.

  6. STOP! We do this every year. Falcons are done for the Season. Blowout losses on the horizon and will happen. Start planning for next Season now. Clean house and start over. Lots to figure out but quit living in Fantasy land..

  7. Falcons win 2 more games at most. Buccaneers will win out with the schedule they have left. New HC and OC next year. Which means new QB…. Insert Jayden Maiava from next years draft

  8. Man listen. Let's stop fooling ourselves. Whether they can or not. The falcons wont win and this team will continue to suck until we get a head coach that actually has experience being a head coach. YOu realize that since Arthur Blank has been the owner we have never had a head coach that has experience being a successful head coach. Here they are. JIm Mora, Bobby Petrino, Mike Smith, Dan Quinn, Arthur Smith and RAheem Morris. Which one of those coaches have ever been a successful head coach? Hell WHen Raheem was here as a interim he got us 4 wins and they still hired him. WE know what the problem is. Someone in the Falcons organization doesn't want to win. It not Blank. It's not Terry because he hasn't been here since Blank took over. It has got to be Rich McKay. Did Terry Fontenot hire ARthur Smith? No he didn't. Who hires their head coach before the GM? I tell you who. The damn FAlcons and I didnt realize that Arthur SMith's dad, may he rest in peace, was a minority owner of the Falcons. Thats 6 years of nepotism we could of avoided. The problem is that Rich McKay has too much power over Arthur Blank. It should be a conflict of interest for him to be our CEO because he is also on the competition committee. It is time for Arthur Blank to totally disconnect Rich from the Falcons. I know they are close. Just put him in charge of the Atlanta United and the newly formed women's soccer club. WE have to get rid of Rich. WE have not hired a head coach with successful head coaching experience since Arthur took over. Last thing. Look at the coaches they interviewed before hiring Raheem. How are they faring now? Here are a few they passed on. Bill Belichick, Mike Vrabel, Jim Harbough and Ben Johnson. Someone dropped the ball. I dont know if they interviews when terrible but I think someone is not willing to give up control in the organization. I think they wanted a yes man to be the coach. Because how in the hell do you pass up coaching experience to let someone who has never had success at head coach take over your squad. We have talent that will go to waste like it did when we had, Micheal Turner, and Gonzalez on the same team.

  9. I'm convinced the reason The Falcons stay bad is they set the NFC South as the goal. That's getting a football team nowhere. Start looking at the top of the NFC. Ignore whoever wins the NFC South.
