POST-RAW | Matt Savoie 12.04.25
Matt, congratulations on the two goals. Can you tell us what you were thinking on that second breakaway? The first one didn’t work for you, but the second one obviously did. Yeah. Um, you know, I had a lot of time in intermission to think about it. So, um, you know, had some ideas, but it was actually, uh, Stu that mentioned, you know, maybe go backhand. Um, just something he saw. So, um, credit to Stewie. The first two two breakaway NHL games probably. I don’t even know how many you had in junior. Yeah, 100%. Um, you know, I think it was only my third or fourth breakaway of the season. So, um, to get two in the same game, you know, you got to capitalize on your chances for sure. Matt, your coach and your teammates, sorry, Matt, they’ve been talking about the impact that you’ve been able to make throughout the course of this season. I know the numbers necessarily don’t back that up, but did it feel like you were due for one of these games to break out with a couple of? Yeah, 100%. Um, you know, I think as the season’s progressed, I’ve just got more confident, more comfortable with with the puck on my stick and I think just in all situations. So, um, you know, definitely feel good out there right now and I’m just looking to build off that. the way the team’s headed in the last little stretch here. Do you kind of feel there’s a long way to go and uh but do you think things are starting to turn a little bit for you guys? Yeah, I think the last few games um you know we played really good defensive games and um you know pretty good you know full efforts. So um just looking to string it all together and um go a little bit of a run here and put some wins together. Does it become self-perpetuating where you’re starting to feel a little bit the pressure’s off your confidence gets a little bit higher and next thing you know you’re starting to put a few of these games together? Yeah, 100%. And I think just the more touches you get um going into the season and um you get more comfortable out there and um the game just starts to flow a little bit more easily and um I think that’s where our group’s at. So excited to to build off tonight. Two nothing in the alternate jerseys. You’ve scored 15 goals. You we got a game Saturday too. I’ll be happy to earn that color 100%. Um you know I think they’re they’re nice jerseys and um anytime you can kind of switch it up it just adds a little bit of um something new. So I’m excited to wear them again. a bit of a history of your, you know, with offense with you to get a couple like this and your confidence because it’s something that’ll mean a lot to you. Confidence matters to you. Yeah, I think confidence is is huge. Um, you know, I went through it I think when I was 15 in the Western League. Um, you know, being stin I didn’t score at all that year. I played I think 24 games and um didn’t get on the sheets. So um and then the next year I think you get one, you get two, you build off that, it starts to to flow and be kind of a waterfall effect. So hoping that’s the case

This kid is the future of the oilers, donβt make the mistake we did with Holloway and Broberg
Great game Savoie. We love you as a player on our team.ππ§‘π
Man, I just knew this kid had it in him. I bet this is just the tip of the iceberg. He will give us a lot more of that in the future! I think the lines are finally clicking now. Him on this line.
100%
Crediting the goalie on the bench for your breakaway goal? Give this kid the 'C' already
Creepy old guy licking his lips in the background is distracting af
Yee be small, but yee be mighty
Many players have tried to "click" with the 2-Kings…many have failed…. this young man has NOT FAILED…he is finding ways to bridge the Gaps that have appeared and he is not hurting the Team he is helping the Team. No fireworks here and lets remember how Yammamoto worked out meaning that its fine to support the 2-Kiings with a smaller player who you think can "play inside opponents equipment" but when the final 1/4 of the Season starts you MUST have an alternative because the Playoffs are a totally different animal and size definately matters because it becomes a CHess game where removing players from playactions physically on demand is CRITICAL. This is an NHL Player Asset and he has specific skills that are definable and we must adhere to those parameters. All arrows are green and all arrows are pointing up.
