All I see when I watch him play is how badly we are misusing Kahlil Shakir

  1. It’s so strange. His ADoT is down more than a yard and a half from last year and five full yards from 2023. He’s good as an extension of the run game but it feels like he did a lot in the intermediate area of the field last year and that’s just out of his game right now.

  2. We’re not just misusing Shakir. Defenses must love that they only have to learn a handful of plays and just make sure they keep coverage while they chase down Allen. This clip shows a D that isn’t quite sure what play is being run and that’s why it was successful, more than anything to do with the specific route or players.

  3. For real! I have started hating watching teams like Dallas & Detroit BECAUSE THEY SCHEME THEIR GUYS OPEN! It really shouldnt be an all-caps declaration, but it has become painful to watch Brady let this offense wither away into a passing attack that only occurs behind the line of scrimmage

  4. We have no other WRs to throw to. Coleman is a bust, Kincaid is a really inconsistent receiver, especially in big moments, and none of our other WRs have stood out in any of our games. We probably have a bottom 5 WR core in the league, if not the worst. So, Shakir is getting hyper-focused by defenses atm.

  5. I’m fairly certain the Bills have run this exact crossing route for Shakir.

What I’d like to see more for Shakir are designed shots downfield

  6. Shakir was massively overpaid on potential production. Comparing him to St. Brown is downright hilarious. The quality of player is much different.

  7. Goff hits his back foot and slings it. Timing route. Josh doesn’t throw that. How many times have we seen him hutch out of the throw and start the roll and scramble…a million.

Either the WR isn’t running the route correctly, the defense knows exactly where to be, or Josh hates throws he cant already see open.

It could be a little of each, but im blaming scheme and wr’s first.

  8. The issue is defenses focus to stop Shakir but Shakir as good as he is isn’t on ASTB’s level.

Hopefully Cooks can open the field like Cooper did last season

  9. Yes, but welcome to Brady’s scheme. I don’t think he’s quite as good as ARSB, but he’s better than how he’s being utilized now.

  10. actually a good comp that i’ve never thought of. ASB definitely plays a little bigger (i was surprised to just find out they are the same height), but they both run the same after catch

  11. Sure it’s utilization issue, but it is more of a situational play calling and chemistry issue
