OPs give us an Austin Reaves flair dammit. Hillbilly Kobe, AR, AR15, HIM, AUSTHIM!, ‘Austin Reaves’ ‘I’m him!!!’ Give the people what they want!

  1. I’d happily welcome Giannis if he came here after forcing a waiver and we got him for cheap like Ayton. There is no realistic scenario where that would happen though. I’m also not a salary cap / contract expert so I don’t really know entirely what I’m talking about. But I’d love to see Giannis here along with our current team including Luka, AR, and Bron.

  2. I like ar but eod I don’t think he will ever be close to kobe.

Offensively, I could see case it but defensively gap is so wide its not even discussion if we going prime to primes.

Ar prob need extra 15-20% output offensively. (Objectively speaking kobe era now its lot easier score and game is very different) and need make all 1st nba defensive team.

I could see case for offensive leap but not defensive one.

Edit: also kobe entered league 18 and ar 22 or 23 4 year gap. Giannas is possible unload everyone except luka. Eod, Giannas not coming LA unless fa.

  3. Dude the most realistic pathway to Giannis is somehow getting LeBron on a last year contract under 20m per year or him outright retiring freeing up cap space and offering anybody else they might want besides Reaves, and Luka + picks.

It’s just not worth giving up Reaves, I don’t feasibly see how Giannis is a better costar to Luka than Reaves. Giannis wasn’t the PnR threat with Dame we thought he would be, what makes us think he’d be better with Luka, who’s even more ball dominant and heliocentric with less off ball ability than Dame?

At least with Reaves, even when Luka is out the offense can run similarly regardless of who’s your primary initiator, with Giannis the offense changes significantly if he has the ball so the guys on the floor need to either change or change their playstyle.

  4. AR isnt going to be judge by his regular szn stats. When he’s not getting his whistle in the playoffs will see how he performs

  5. Love AR15 but team ppg is 25% higher now and ORTG is 115.8 vs 103. Those averages are not really comparable

  6. Love this graphic, really shows how insane his progression has been. Undrafted player BTW…

  7. 18 – 23 years old

    Vs

    22 – 27 years old

If only AR could reach Kobe’s level from age 23 – 32

Would love to see it happen next to Luka

    But unlikely

  8. AR’s role and presence off the court is also amazing. He seems to fit in and build chemistry with everyone. He’s definitely becoming one of my favorite players.

  9. The sky is the limit with him which is crazy because players like him who are not super tall or athletic or fast usually have a pretty low ceiling.

I don’t think he can improve much more offensively since he’s already averaging 29 fucking ppg somehow while having luka on his team but knowing AR I think we will see a lot of improvement on the defensive end. He’s already looking much better there than a few years ago and I wouldn’t be surprised if he continues to improve in that area. I don’t expect him to be a top tier defender because the physicals just aren’t there but I think he will be solid.

  10. I love AR but this is unfair to him because Kobe is 4 years younger in each “head to head” year

  11. Love him, he got owned last night in the first quarter of that game and has always got owned in the playoffs, it’s Giannis

  12. Agree. I want to keep our homegrown talent. The Lakers found and developed AR and he’s the type to be loyal to the end. AR is just entering his prime and can be a reliable star for several more years.

I like Giannis, but I think he’s reached his peak and will probably plateau for a couple of years before declining.

  13. I love AR and he deserves all the plaudits for his progress but it was much harder for Kobe to score those points than today.

  14. Is there a common cause for this huge leap towards year 5? it seems that both of them went through the same thing at that point

  15. Why are we comparing Reaves to Kobe, if Kobe was on this team playing today he would be averaging around 35 at least

  16. AR and Luka need to be paired forever. Those two boys are brothers at this point and people forget, Luka is younger than SGA! He and AR will have a long run with each other.

  17. yall need to stop this dumbass chart they aint the same , this was Bean at 22yo with 2 chips going 15-1 in the playoffs dropping back to back road game at sac 48 points at san antonio 45 while getting his second all defensive team

  18. I love AR but his defense is nowhere near Kobe’a in that side-by-side comparison. It takes a lot of effort to be 2-way.
