NHL Highlights | Avalanche vs. Rangers – December 6, 2025

He’s played with some pretty good players and done just fine in his in his career thus far. Underway at the Gardens. What a player he’s been for Colorado. They stole him from the New York Islanders. There’s the irony of course as Macar shoots off the glove. Savannah Jad loses out to Gerard Coloulson for Brock Nelson. Centering pass. Landisk. Tough save for Shurken. And he got it back on goal. like the release, but here it is through the neutral zone. A cross ice pass where it seemingly wasn’t there. Defense step up. He does a curl and drag just to try and get it through. You have to pay attention. Teams are going to go after you when they see five forwards. Miller for Paneran. He rings the iron. Miller bag pass. Zabanagad. Paneran skate to stick. And now Zabanagad again glanced off the blade of Molinsky. Troche to Paneran. Back for Troche. Troche slides it across and another post is hit. That from point blank range by It does is it gets McKenzie Blackwood to set to Miller. Troche cutting in to be the bumper man. Zanagan across the blue paint and a quick whistle with Blackwood covering the puck oh so briefly. Time with the one-time just off the bar and then the patience. Bouncing puck. Nous hard pass. McKinnon stick handling feeding Taves. Mar fakes. Mar de sliding in. Shurkin got a piece of that. Ends up breaking. But this is how special Kale Mar is. How how explosive he is laterally. How well he can skate. You know, mostly Rangers. It’s been in favor of the Rangers for this first period. But you see what they can do. Stretch pass. Nous rounds the corner. Just sturen hangs on. They can make a play in an instant. You see the speed Marty Nes finds. He He protects the passing lane, protects the puck the whole way until he wants to get the shot off. Eigor anticipates it well. I still remembered a little bit actually. You got it right. I was going to say on the first try, too. Michelangelo crushing pizza, throwing nunchucks. You were just crushing a pizza during the intermission, too. That was a secret, Alex. Supposed to talk about it in the zone. Nis with speed. Borggan without a stick. Centering pass. McKinnon waiting. Shooting glove saved by Shurken. No further play cuz he doesn’t want to defend and it ends up being a threeon two with Panaran back and actually does a pretty good job keeping McKinnon to the outside. Eigor and when they’ve defended well, Alex, they’ve gotten those offensive chances. Robertson right on. Tough save for Blackwood doing the snow angels in his goal crease and he’s on top of the puck. The defending is what has led to these chances. I know the goal scoring hasn’t been where they want it to be, but that stretch of games where they struggled on the road. They abandoned a little bit of that and it it didn’t create any more chances or more goals. It just led to more goals against. This is just a hardworking shift in a back. Avalanche changing. Bardico on his backand saves Sturken. Loose puck. Kelly around the net. Susi denies the scoring chance of the wraparound. Scramble for the loose puck and Bakov comes away with it. One-time kicked out by Shurken denying Molinsky. Ben, but don’t break in that situation. All five players plus Eigor making big plays to keep it out of the net. Colorado right back in. Avalanche making a push. Score. Molinski finds a way with Parker Kelly getting a piece in front. And Colorado Nate just comes in with a ton of speed and that’s the difference so far. Just a tiny deflection from Parker Kelly on his knees. El Moras able to win out but that puck to the middle. Intercepted by Lechen Bar right to McKinnon. Big save by Shurken. Colorado will counter. Nachushkin. Somehow that’s on side with Nelson. Nelson centers. Landisk. Point blank. Shurken the save. And here’s Brock Nelson. Good shift for him coming behind Landiskog in front. Nice box out from G. Usually they have the lead and they’ve scored. They’ve scored as much as they’ve scored with the lead. So it’s a challenge for this third period at home. Remember the Rangers came back in the third period against the Rangers win a board battle in the corner. Troche connects with Sherry. Burst of speed over the line. Sherry scores. What a time for his first of the year. Connor Sherry has tied the game at one. What a time is right. Connor Sherry. You see Braden Schneider in the corner on Devonte’s throwing him to the ice. JT Miller throwing it to the middle. You get a guy like Connor Sheeri open in space. He can still move. He’s scored in this league. It wasn’t perfect, but he fought had the patience, especially for a guy who’s fighting it to score this season. And a high lift from Sherry back to the neutral zone. Here’s McKinnon barging in. Drop pass. Nas across. Lean in. Hey, by Shurken. Lackinan fights for the loose puck. McKinnon out of the corner. Pass deflected. Reaches the blue line. Manson behind his back. Nate just a one-time save. Rebound. Score. McKinnon. He bats the puck out of midair. But let’s see if this counts. Tough to tell from way up here. That rebound looked like it got up in the air. Just a bit of a slower read, but that puck squirting out from JT Miller. Again, tough to tell there. And it’ have to be overwhelming. Look at the way the crossbar is. That is right at the height of the crossbar. The coaching staff determining whether or not they want to take a look and challenge it with the goal. Colton battling. Puck pushed to net and it’s in. No signal yet prior to the whistle. So step one here, Toronto has to review to see if this cross the goal line. You you’ve mentioned it over and over this afternoon, Brian, that they have been but not broken. And for Colorado, they have found ways to get it done all season long. After review, the call on the ice has confirmed that the puck never crossed the goal line. There is no ball on the play. And here’s Mar steam. Mar driving to the net. Big save by Shurken. He’s going to challenge him. You see him hold it out wide, bring it into his feet to protect the puck until he wants to get the shot off and the edge work of Kale Mar is unmatched in the league. Again, Colorado cannot clear. Rangers keep it alive. Lafrenir to the outside. 45 seconds to go. Lafrenir to the back. Saban Jet for Paneran. One-time scores. Last minute magic and the Rangers have tied it. What a sequence. Reestablish the offensive zone. Lafrenier gets it out high. Sabanagad over to Paneran. Coolie’s in front of the net. Shot mentality. There was close support throughout this sixon five situation. You have the bodies at the net that you want. And the best player on your team tonight from start to finish. JT Miller is on it. He’ll take it to the wall and this game will head to overtime. Avalanche starting with Nelson and the Chushkin. Rangers have Paneran and Zabanagad. Nous with under two and a half remaining in overtime. Mar leaves it. McKinnon gathers. McKinnon trying to shake Borggan. McKinnon cuts to his back. He scores. Nathan McKinnon wins it in overtime for Colorado. And the league’s leading scorer. You see Nious exchange with Mar. Mar throws it to space. McKinnon will cut back. The engine on this man never stops and bringing it to his forehand. You have to honor that forehand. And Will Borggan gets to that side. He pulls it over to his backhand, creates a ton of separation and is able to elevate it quickly. Rangers fight all the way back to earn a point. Ultimately fall in overtime to Colorado. A twogoal afternoon for Nathan McKinnon who extends his lead in the NHL scoring race and goalc scoring race.

Nathan MacKinnon continued his incredible season with a pair of goals, including a highlight-reel OT winner to lead the Colorado Avalanche past the New York Rangers 3-2.

  1. I'm not particularly an Avs fan but even I gotta say there really is no stopping the NateDogg, Idc how good the opposition's goalie is and Shesterkin is pretty much as good as they come too.

  2. All 3 Avs goals were high into the net over Shesterkins shoulders.Shesterkin is on his knees when the shot comming is in prep mode. The majority of goals on Shesterkin are high net becauseof this goalies flop quickly flaw.

  3. It's dumb that u get a challenge, but if you're wrong, the other team gets a 2 min PP. I'm not a Rangers fan but it looked like it was above the crossbar

  4. Everyone is complaining about each teams goals on high sticks (Mackinnon's goal was good on slowmo as the contact never was above the crossbar and the broadcast never showed a frame by frame on the rangers final goal with his shoulder line so I can't say definitively) , but the refs were swallowing their whistles with cross checks, interference, and not dodging the puck on clears.

  5. There must be an MSG broadcast claiming the Avs "Stole Brock Nelson from the Isles." I suppose from their point of view (NYR fans and pundits), it would have been better if Brock had pulled a Tavares move, signaling he intended to stay but then backstabbing the organization. The Isles got a first-round pick and a legit NHL-ready player in Cal Ritchie in what was Lou's last deal. He didn't want to, but Brock did the right thing and forced it, knowing the isles were retooling. We still love Brock, and I wouldn't mind seeing him win a Cup with the Avs.
