Leafs make SHOCKING moves… Multiple HUGE Updates | Toronto Maple Leafs News

We have some big news to go over today. The Toronto Map Police have made multiple shocking moves. And in what has been a brutal season for injuries thus far, the woes continue as we have some wild moves that have been made. But not only that, we do have some encouraging updates surrounding Chris Tanv and some other players as well as a ton of other things to go over on this episode ahead of the big game tonight against some Montreal Canadians as the Toronto Maple Leafs look to continue their stretch of hot play over the past few games. But before we get to it all, folks, if you’re part of the percentage who aren’t subscribed to the channel, a very quick reminder to hit that subscribe button. You guys have been absolutely fantastic with the support. Darius, a lot to go over today. And obviously, the Leafs have been in a pretty encouraging stretch of games, but every time there’s an encouraging and there’s a sign of life for this team, something bad happens. And we hate to be the bearer of bad news here, but there is some positive sides to this, but the Leafs have officially recalled Arthur Aimov from the Toronto Mariss and Joseph Wall has been placed on injured reserve retroactive to a couple of days ago. So Darius unfortunate and Craig Rubé spoke out on it and said he’ll be a week hopefully. We’re not expecting it to be too long. I don’t believe that for a second. I’m going to prepare for the worst and you know assume it’s going to be two to three weeks here. But he went down with an injury right as everything started to look good right as the Leafs were starting to turn a corner. Joseph Wall goes down and now he’s going to be out for at least another week. Hopefully not longer. But we’ll dive into the impact this has. What are your thoughts on the on this? very unfortunate especially given everyone everyone’s hopes that he’d be good for the game tonight. Well, Joseph Wool is out day to day or I guess a week at this point with something that isn’t so serious. So that means Joseph Wall is done for the season. That’s code word for he’s finished. It’s over. He’s not coming back. But in all seriousness, this is obviously not good news. And I was also looking forward to cuz I’m going to the Marley’s game later today seeing Actiam play because I haven’t seen him play yet. Uh and I won’t be able to do that. So, he will be backing up Dennis Hillbey for the next couple of games. But obviously bad news. Wool has been unbelievable since coming back um you know from his time off to start the season. Uh starting with that first game in Chicago and it’s kind of just played its way through the season so far. He’s played almost every single game since coming back as well. So, he’s been unbelievable for this team and now they’re without him. And of course, he’s only on the IR so he can come back later this week. He’s only going to miss three games. So, it sounds like he’ll be ready to go against the hopefully against the Edmonton Oilers next Saturday, but you have a couple tough games coming up here. You want to win tonight and I do have some faith in Hill to be now. He has played really well this season. He’s obviously taken steps in his development through the summer and all of that stuff. So, he’s been a lot better. I’m excited to see what he does against the Canadians tonight who have been struggling a little bit. So, this is a big game in terms of, you know, what the standings look like after tonight. And then, you know, moving forward, you play Tampa Bay, one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference, and then San Jose next week as well. Uh, so tough matchups coming up here. It’s going to be a lot on Hill Deb’s plate, which I would imagine he’s going to start every single game until Wol’s back. So, this is not the news we were hoping for, but I just hope it doesn’t turn into something that, you know, the rest of the injury updates have been turning into, as you can see here, because, you know, the same has been said for Austin Matthews, the same has been said for Anthony Stallars, the same has been said for Chris Tanv. We don’t think it’s that serious and then it turns into something more serious. So hopefully he’s only out for a week and he’s back. But it didn’t look like anything too crazy. Maybe he just pulled a muscle or something if you watch the clip back. But uh this is tough. He’s been playing really well. Yeah. Now I mean you’re out. Anthony Stellar. He’s going to be out for a while. Now you have to rely on two rookieish very young goenders. Obviously a team of rookie. Hildy you saw briefly last year but I mean you can still consider him a rookie because he’s barely even played at the NHL level. The question is now do you have faith in these guys? Hill Deb has been good, but you need to try and tread water while both of these guys I mean, you have to do more than that, though. We’re at the point of the season where it’s not crazy early anymore. Bit over a quarter of the way there now. And you look at the lines, they’re finally starting to settle into something that actually works. And you can look, they’re running with a couple of uh, you know, the same lines that we’ve been running with. So, Nas, Matthews, DOI, Cowan, Devar, Neander, Wah, Joshua McMahon, Lorren, Lton, Robertson. So, Machelli now for whatever it is, third or fourth game in a row, they’re rocking with these lines. Machelli remains out which is I mean I guess good in the sense of they’re winning games. Of course I think the first change will probably be do on the top line but they’re winning games here and then of course you have the great great play of Troy Ster hopefully continuing tonight. Hildabby and Actiamov this is a chance for Dennis Hillby to really run with something. Now at the end of the day they’re going to use Stallers. They’re going to use Wall two of their goalies who are signed for the foreseeable future here. They’re without both of them. It’s a big chance here for Hill to be and also the lines. Hopefully they can continue. This is a big game. If they win tonight, the Leafs have a all of a sudden a mini win streak going on. Yeah. And they’re back in the playoffs uh in the playoff pitcher if they win tonight as well, which is huge because a lot of people were saying the season was over a couple weeks ago, right? Let’s just pump the brakes a little bit. Let’s wait a second. But uh of course, every line to me has been rolling the last couple games. So Michelli is interesting to me where the Leafs would have to play a really poor game for him to get back in the lineup or it would have to be a backto-back. So he’s from he’s on the outside looking in now at this point. Uh because every single line to me is just doing something, which is all you can ask, right? Not every line has to score every game, but as long as you’re bringing something to the table every game, you’re fine. I am also interested to see tonight if the Leafs score on their first shot on goal for the fifth consecutive game because that’s been a nice little streak to see as well. And the third line’s been really nice. So excited to see how that plays out. Troy Stcher, another interesting story line heading into tonight. He’s been awesome. He’s been playing 24 minutes a night since becoming a Toronto Maple Leaf. So does that continue tonight? We’ll see. excited to see what Hillbe does. Like this is a really big confidence booster game. Like if he plays really well against a team that has the offensive weapons that the Canadians have, like that’s something you can build off of heading into next week against some tough teams. Obviously, you’re playing, you know, the Lightning who have been really well. Cellrini, who’s been, you know, top uh in the league in points scored. So, that’s going to be interesting. And and Cowan still taking reps on power play one as well. So, excited to see how this one goes. A lot of interesting storylines heading into this one, but they’ve been playing well. If that continues today, like I think they would have to have a really like a big stinker big stinker performance for Machelli to come back in or it would have to be a backto-back. They they’ve been playing really well. Yeah. And obviously you can see here with Oel manning the first unit on the power play, Riley on the second. Hopefully the power play can continue doing good things. But Chris Tanv here are starting to do things rather. But Chris Tenev, he is going to be returning at some point of course as we know. But it seems that there is some progress here. So Chris Tanv upper body and martial or fire wrist surgery have joined the Maple Leafs with a morning skate in red non-cont jerseys and it’s been over a month now since Tanv went down with his injury but this is the first time I believe that we’re seeing him on the ice at practice even though it is in a red non-cont all of a sudden here if they can keep playing well Chris Tanniff could be nearing a return hopefully it’s good news and he can get more involved here he’s been dealing with that injury but if he puts together you know a return in the next few weeks or so and the Leafs start playing really well all of a sudden you could also get stolen cars back. You can get hopefully Joseph Wall back. Everyone could be healthy around the new year and then you have a chance to go on ideally a bit of a run here. And again, the big question mark is going to be what do they do with the deadline? I mean, Brandon Carlo as well, I’m sure he’s going to hopefully try to make a return at some point. I mean, they could be looking at a very interesting and different looking blue line. Now, if you get Tanv back, you get Carlo back and then you have McCabe, Ster, Riley, Oel, and then Carlo and Tanv obviously not in those direct lines. That’s an elite blue line. and they found a hidden gem here with Troy Stetcher. Things could be very I’m still very encouraged at this point. And him coming back to the ice today is h is very good news. Yeah, great news. And keep in mind there are salary cap implications. If everyone does come back at the same time, they would have to move somebody which will be interesting cuz they’re keeping stature. But you know, as a result of that move, they will have to do something. But I don’t know if everyone’s coming back at the same time. They’ve had injuries all season and there’s a condensed schedule. We’ll see what happens with that. But um one other interesting thing to keep in mind too is Marshall Rafi’s been hurt the whole year. He broke his hand in preseason. If he comes back, I would rather have him in the lineup versus Meyers right now. So that’s something to keep in mind, too. But on Chris Tanov, this is really good news. He has not been evaluated yet. So he’s going to get looked at this week. That’s why he’s on the ice wearing a red no contact jersey, which means he could be practicing with the group next week once they take a look at him and if he’s cleared. So, this is good news that he’s back on the ice at least moving around cuz he was one of the players on the list like Stlars who hadn’t been on the ice yet like Brandon Carlo as well. So, he’s back on the ice moving around and they’re going to evaluate him next week. So, if he gets cleared, he’s back to practicing and he should be back with the team in pretty short order after that, at least once he gets a practice or two under his belt. So, he could be back pretty soon, too. They’re obviously not going to give us a timeline. That’s fine. They’ve been doing that all year. I just hope the injuries don’t get worse as initially reported. But, uh, I think this is a lot better than people realize back on the ice moving around and same with Rafi. So hopefully this continues through the week. He he doesn’t take a step back or anything like that and we can see him uh maybe in the next week or two. They’re four points or five points out of first place in the uh in the division here. And the division is not very good this year. So this is a chance for the Leafs to take advantage of that and hopefully take care of business. But I’ll wrap it up. Let us know down below what your thoughts are. Big game tonight against the Habs. Then of course you have the Lightning Sharks and Oilers as we approach Christmas Day. That’ll wrap it up. Thank you guys for watching. tour.

  1. Probably not tonight or against tampa, but i wouldnt mind if the leafs used maccelli on some games to give nylander a break. Hes obviously nowhere near nylanders level, but its pretty clear nylander is playing through an injury rn. At the start of the season he was putting up points and looked like a threat. Right now hes a decent puck carrier who aside from that isn't doing anything. He has no speed, no shot, and just isnt the threat we know he can be. So give him a break. Maccelli is capable of puck carrying, so as they both are rn, id rather have willy resting.

  2. Eight games and then he is injured. Stolarz plays 13 games and he's injured. No believable time lines for either of them.
Hard to trade the injured guys.
Elite blue line? Oliver Ekman Larsson has been the nest defenceman. He's a 34 year old quality veteran. Tanev hasnt been evaluated yet. What is that supposed to mean? Troy stceher can skate a little and this 6th 7th defenceman is a must keep player? That's not even a good defence.

  3. Brandon Carlo is a big piece of the puzzle……if hes the old Carlo that played on Boston…..the player we gave up a really good pick for……..that would be incredible incredible

  4. Maybe if we don't play the whole game in our end our goaltenders won't get injured. What happened to our defence pinching? We spend 5 min hemmed in our end, finally get the puck into the offensive zone and its two passes and out???

  5. From rumors that leafs call Artur Akhtyamov to play back up if he can play back up if Artur Akhtyamov can't do job then leafs will look for a back up Goalie in free agency or trade market if true or not we will see?

  6. I have no problem with Hildeby and Akhtyamov, Taking the net…..Woll? who knows if he will be back before february. Stolarz, I would look at trading Stolarz, I can't believe how soft he is, time to go. The defence could be a problem with Tanev and carlo coming back Mermiss, Myers, and even benoit should be moved back to the AHL.
