I’m scared to admit this, but the Chicago Bears might be different this year, and that terrifies me. I’ve talked about this new era for a long time, but I’ve felt this way before. We’ve all felt this before. Right before the Packers break our hearts, right before this team collapses, right before reality reminds us that we’re Bears fans. Decades of false hope has trained us to not trust anything. But here’s the problem. This team doesn’t feel like the same old Bears. They don’t look confused. They don’t look scared. They don’t fold under pressure. This team looks prepared. Ben Johnson changed everything. The offense actually makes sense. The quarterback isn’t panicking. The run game is physical and dominant and they’re winning games that they used to lose. And that’s what’s messing with my head because every time I think the Bears have turned a corner, something happens. Sunday is the game that tells us who we really are. Are we actually built different or are we just another Bears team about to learn the same old lesson? The Packers have owned us most of our lives and now for the first time we finally have a team that looks capable of fighting back. I want to believe so bad, but I don’t know cuz believing in the Bears has hurt too many times. Still, I’m starting to feel dangerous here. This Sunday isn’t just Bears verse Packers. It’s faith verse fear. It’s hope verse history. It’s the moment we find out if the new era is real or if we’re still stuck in the same old cycle. Tell me I’m not the only Bears fan feeling this way. Tell me you want to believe, too, cuz man, I hope we’re not wrong this time. Bear down.

  2. What’s up Swifty… you are not by yourself! The only difference for me is I’m not waiting for the ball to drop. I’m staying neutral. I believe this is a new era, but I’m still fearful 😂 I don’t feel that 100% confidence. I want to feel that! Until that feeling comes, I’m staying neutral.

  6. This is not the same old bears. This is year one with this new staff. I am so happy with this team and the progress that's being made me. My heart say Bears win, my brain says they will return to reality Sunday. I hope I'm wrong.

  16. We're different. As Fans and this Team/Org. Does this mean Chips etc? Maybe, but you can see the difference on schemes vs results. We haven't even seen the best This team can do. Bear Down

  21. I am with you Swifty, I hope that there won't be a let down from the Eagles win. Having said that, the Bears should not make tomorrow's game with the Packers their Super Bowl, either. The Bears need to have an answer to everything that the Packers will throw at them. Ozzy Trapilo should get some chip in help on the left side against Micah Parsons.
