It’s ACTUALLY Happening…

It’s actually happening as an MLB insider just revealed a massive Dodgers free agency update on a piece that would complete the Dodgers for the 2026 season as they look for their three repeat. Welcome to Dodgers Digest everybody. I’m Jayce Andrews. I appreciate you hanging out with me and tuning in to today’s show. And if you want coverage of the Los Angeles Dodgers throughout the entirety of the 202526 off season and to this next season here in 2026, we’ve got you covered. Go down there and hit that subscribe button for daily reports. The Los Angeles Dodgers this off season have two main priorities. Fixing their outfield or at least figuring it out and figuring out their bullpin as well. The outfield has taken a lot of the storylines just because of a lot of certain free agents that are available. And with that to be said, we’ve got some new updates. Because if you missed yesterday’s show, there are now reports that Teosscar Hernandez, his name at least, is being floated around in trade rumors and trade talks across the MLB. The majority of insiders do believe that this is something that would have to take a very good deal for the Dodgers to make. But at the same time, a lot of Dodgers media personalities and honestly fans are thinking that well, if they can get a good price for Tay Oscar as he’s not exactly a amazing defender, his hitting is kind of up or down. It wouldn’t be the most crazy thing to say we traded him. And so with that report in mind, we got some interesting updates on a certain Cody Bellinger. Now, Belly obviously a free agent this off seasonason is going to be one of the top guys off the market. Him and Kyle Tucker, rightfully so, are the top two outfield names to keep an eye on. For the Los Angeles Dodgers, Kyle Tucker is a lot of money. And the expectation across the league from Jeff Passen, John Morosei, and other insiders alike all believe that Kyle Tucker, his price, and his years more specifically are going to be too high for the Dodgers to want to actually give him that. But for Bellinger, a reunion seems not only possible, but likely. We got a new report here saying the Dodgers rumors continued Cody Bellinger interest aligns with the Tea Oscar Hernandez buzz about him potentially being traded. Now this comes all from John Marosei of MLB Network. But let’s start with the baseline here from Colin K, excuse me, Colin Keen of Dodgers way saying quote the Los Angeles Dodgers are reportedly considering a reunion with Cody Bellinger in free agency. According to MLB Network’s John Morosei, both New York clubs as well as the Philadelphia Phillies and Dodgers are interested in acquiring Belly. Who ends up getting him is the real question. And I think for the Dodgers, they would love to have him. Obviously, as a 30-year-old, bringing him back to LA would be such a good story in the first light. But to kind of go on top of that, he’s a perfect fit. He’s a very good defensive outfielder. His batting statistics were a very good had a really good uptick last season having an on-base percentage of 334, 98 RBI with 29 home runs. Had 160 hits. He only struck out 90 times in 588 at bats. Something that was um not necessarily a problem with him in the past, but something that he definitely worked on and got better at. And he can play all positions in the outfield. Plus, he can also play first base. And obviously the DH position is wholeheartedly taken. So you’re not going to put Cody Bellinger at first and tell Freddy Freeman to go, you know, go play DH. But what you could do is with Freddy’s age, you give Cody a glove at first and say, “Hey, we’re going to give Freddy the night off. We want you to go play over there.” And that’s a very real possibility. So what exactly did John Morose say about all of this? And I think that is where we have to go next. I do want to wrap this back quickly towards the Tea Oscar Hernandez comments because Colin Keane of Dodgers way makes a good point saying quote LA’s Bellinger interest aligns with the recent Tea Oscar Hernandez trade buzz flowing from the editorial desks of the athletic while some Dodgers observers are surprised by the Tea Oscar noise. Others wouldn’t mind moving on from his declining defense in pursuit of a three repeat. End quote. and they’re right. I am a big supporter of Tah Oscar Hernandez. I love him. I think he’s a fantastic player, but this baseball savant is not good. And it’s specifically because he’s just been up and down. And last season was more down than up. He had a 247 average, whatever, after a 272 year. The fielding is downright abysmal. Like abysmal. Um his arm strength is the only thing that is above average in any light. His speed is something that’s okay, but there’s really not a sign of some bright red on this baseball soant screen in the upper percentiles. It’s really a lackluster effort. And so, do I love Teay Oscar? And do I want to sit here and say that I don’t believe that the baseball savant stats are an indictment on his play, but I wouldn’t say that, you know, Cody Bellinger would obviously a better situation. So in terms of we mentioned Kyle Tucker, I do find this interesting of what John Marosi said on Movie Network. Quote, you compare him to Kyle Tucker. There is only one year difference in their age, but actually in most major offensive categories, Bellinger had the better year. He continued on to say, there is a reason why the Dodgers who had him before want him back. End quote. Plain and simple right there. The Dodgers know that when they immediately let him go that that was the right decision. But now when you’re looking at the free agents at hand, I do believe that Kyle Tucker for his price is not going to be as good as Bellinger. And even in the stat sheets, they’re not actually as comparable as you think. Sometimes a lot of people want to sit here and say Kyle Tucker is the best outfield guy in this free agency market. He’s 29 years old, looking for a long-term deal. And I would necessarily a lot of people would agree with that. In terms of stats though, first of all, like Morosi said, one year is the separator in their age. And stats last year, a 5.1 more for Cody Bellinger, partially due to his better defense. Played in more games this past season, was more healthy, had way more plate appearances obviously, and in turn more hits, but he also had more home runs, more RBI. He’s not as fast as Kyle Tucker. Only stole 13 bags, but I’m not really looking for Cody Bellinger to be a speed merchant on the base pass. His batting average was better. His on base percentage was not better, but at least comparable. His slugging was better by about 20 pointsish. And then his OPS was right around the same as Kyle Tucker. The OPS plus in favor of Kyle Tucker as well. Yet the All-Star and Sli Slugger went to Kyle Tucker. Nothing to Cody Bellinger. And so when you look at this, I ask you the question of knowing the price of Kyle Tucker, knowing the price of Cody Bellinger, who would you rather have on the team? Would you rather have Belly back with LA or go out and get Kyle Tucker? If you want to have Belly then type B for Belly. If you want to go out and you get Tucker, then I want you to type T for Tucker. Would you rather have Bellinger back or Kyle Tucker? B for Belly, T for Tucker. Let me know in the comments section down below. I’m B for Belly. Listen, I’ve always loved Bellinger. Um, going back to his days with the Los Angeles Dodgers, but there are stats that prove why Kyle Tuck why Kyle Tucker is going to get the monstrous deal that somebody is going to offer him. But in terms of the Dodgers, the way they’re looking at this and the reports that we’re getting of they don’t want a guy who’s been going to ask for 11 years. They don’t want that. They want somebody for a more short-term option with maybe higher AAV. Cody Bellinger, walk on down. and you’re going to get paid more per year for the next three or four seasons than Kyle Tucker, but it’s only a 4-year deal. And for Bellinger, I think in his case, he would accept that. At 30 years old, I almost see him taking somewhat of an Alex Bregman contract where it’s frontloaded, only about three years, lots of AAV, and then betting on himself, maybe an opt out after this season or next season, and adding that into the contract. But in the same price, the Dodgers know that they want to go out and get the replay. them with a lot of new things coming next season. Um could be a lockout. They’re going to try and get their way in this year and I think Bellinger is a perfect place to start with that. And uh obviously it’s just u it’s it’ll be a nice story bringing back Cody Bellinger and allowing him to come back and and be on this Dodgers team because I mean we all know he had his World Series stolen from him in 2017. It’s time to come back and get your championship with LA. That’s what we got for you here today on Dodgers Digest. We do appreciate you hanging out with us and tuning in to today’s show. We’ll see you next time here and peace out.

  1. B – I'd like to have Belli back on the Dodgers over Tucker. However I feel the Dodgers don't necessarily need a power bat. We need speed/defense & contact. I'd prefer a trade for Stephen Kwan/Jarren Duran.

  2. I say keep Teo and have a good sit down with him and talk about his defense, he needs to step it up. I really don't want them to break up this group, especially if they're looking to 3peat.

  3. The literally dumped him on the side of the MLB road. There is no way he is coming back to the Dodgers. He does not have the intangibles that make you a Dodger.

  4. I'd love to see an outfield of Trout/Buxton/Bellinger in the playoffs

Teo can be the 4th outfielder (but start the most games in the regular season, saving Trout and Buxton for the playoffs)

to go along with trading for Skubal and Skenes.
