[Olney] “Do I think the Yankees are gonna wind up spending $200+ million on a player this winter? I don’t… I think they’ll stay in the Bellinger and Tucker conversations, but in the end it might be to push other teams.”

This offseason is going to be a sit on our hands and do nothing offseason.
Embarrassing team this is becoming and gonna waste Judge. Fuck Hal.
No team is giving Bellinger $200 million; not even the Mets.
If they spend $200M on any player it should be Tatsuya Imai.
Over 7 years $200M works out to $29M-ish aav. That’s less than Dylan Cease got for a pitcher with more consistency, a higher ceiling, and a better fit for YS. That would give the Yankees a long-term, playoff ready SP core of Fried, Imai, and Schlittler.
That sounds pretty reasonable to me.
Remember guys, the playoffs are a crapshoot 🤡
The minute Cashman committed to keeping Anthony Volpe as everyday shortstop, that’s when all ambitions died. Not because they won’t sign Tucker or pursue Skubal. One of the worst players in baseball last season they’ve doubled down on keeping.
It was better when George owned the team.
Hal has to save up for that new dishwasher. His old one broke down and the Mrs. is getting tired of washing dishes by hand.
I mean this in the most homo erotic log cabin way:
this is so gay
When was the last time they spent that kind of money on a position player? It’s just not their thing anymore.
Is there even a $200mm free agent on the market right now? Is there a $200mm player that can reasonably be traded for without gutting the team? Why is the measure of effort just a blanket “they spent a bunch of money” without regard of what players are there to spend money on?
If we don’t get one of Belli or Tucker, we’re fucked
Yanks not doing shit, confirmed.
Belli and imai aren’t getting that chill out
Aside from Tucker no one is getting 200 mil, this changes nothing
I understand why they wouldn’t make any big/long term free agent signings. There may not be a season in 2027. However, that still leaves trades open.
He thinks but he doesn’t know. It’s all speculation.
2026 will be anothee year of “do enough to grab a spot in the postseason and let’s what happens”.
Wasting Judge. How he hasn’t read them the riot act, idk.
Looks like there going to go cheap on a year of the “judge and cole window” any be fighting for the second wildcard spot. Sell the team Hal
This sure isn’t Daddy’s team anymore, Hal isn’t going to spend 1 extra dollar that might put him over tax threshold, Daddy knew the team made money before one ticket or hotdog was sold , If Hal is so worried about a dollar just sell the team get your 10 billion and move on
Cashman cannot build a world series championship team
Another Boras client on a walk year?
Skubal will be a Met next year
I don’t think the Yankees will spend that much cash only because Hal Stienbrenner doesn’t want to win at all cost,he just wants to sell merchandise.
The pending 2027 lockout seems to play a factor in this off-season.
The Yankees are comfortable with just being good enough. Good enough to stay competitive and squeeze in a playoff spot just long enough to be in the conversation. That’s been clear for the last decade and a half.
Hmm well Stanton needs 47 HRs for 500; Judge needs 132 Hrs
At least we got something to look forward to in next 2 to 3 years
Shit so we’re basically getting nobody. Not even imai
