FIRST THINGS FIRST | Nick Wright ADMITS He Was WRONG About The Detroit Lions And Gibbs | NFL

Cup. Dusty. Can we just put up the opt about Jir Gibbs? Cuz this is just I feel like sometimes stat companies have a contest to see who can write the more amazing stats. Okay. Over his last seven games, he’s had a game with 250, a game with 200 rush. Game with 200 rush, a game with 100 reception uh receiving yards, 10 catches, 14 yards, three games with three TDs, a 75 yard rush, and what was the final one? I 75 yard rush TV. and and no one else in NFL history has ever done that in their entire career. He’s done it in the last seven weeks. I mean, he also just specific, but Barry Sam for most touchdowns before 25. I think it was before turning maybe both, but probably in his first three years he has more games. He’s going to break it the rest of I haven’t looked at the carries, but my guess is Barry Sanders had a lot more carries. I’m not saying he’s better than Barry. No, but he is he is ahead of Barry right now up to this point in their career in yards per carry. Yeah. Yeah. the no I mean and again Barry Sanders argue has an argument he’s the greatest running back ever. They’re not saying that he’s a special player and he’s a player that when they drafted everyone made fun of him for the record. People were like a running back that high like the one. He’s been a nice resurgence, right? You probably were like smart people really guys in the right they didn’t like it. I mean who nice running back resurgence though in 45 days in his career. All right. As Brew me. Yeah. This is why I wanted to highlight this. Um, one, it’s funny that Nick admitted he was kind of admitted he was wrong about drafting, you know, Jir Gibson, where he got him. But, um, this right here is a perfect example as to why I I stepped away from the MVP conversation because I find it so infuriating that we have a player like Gibbs and going into this game, everybody was talking about how Dak can win the MVP in this game. whole enter the number one for M, you know, for the best MVP odds with a big game about and nobody was saying that about Jir Gibbs and it’s like we got Jir Gibbs, we got Christian M I think Christian McAffrey is leading the NFL at least he was. this might have slightly changed, but um you know before the the last week of games, he was leading the NFL in receptions and uh you know rushing attempts and you have Jir Gibbs who’s obviously been an absolute monster this entire season and has his his his production his games that he’s had have directly led to wins, right? directly like this game right here um uh against the New York Giants especially obviously like how we can’t see the value in in that is so insane and yes quarterbacks are always more important right if you had to pick between Dak Prescott and Jir Gibbs start team it’s like you you’d have to go with Dak because he is the quarterback you need a quarterback but we have to look beyond that we can’t constantly keep letting something like that cloud what we’re seeing and what Jir Gibbs is doing with the Detroit Lions is just it’s just spectacular. It really is. It’s just it’s just spectacular. And I think it’s such a bummer that we don’t let these guys get enough praise and we pick and choose when we want them to. Okay, we really do. Because if this was Lamar Jackson was the quarterback or Patrick Mahomes was the quarter, they’d say, “Well, this is all because of Patrick Mahomes is the threat of doing this and that is what, right?” And it’s like, and you know, if it’s a receiver we like, it’s like, “Well, you know, if if we want to try to downplay Joe Burrow, we want to downplay Sam Darl, it’s all Justin Jefferson, it’s all Jamar Chase, it’s all Jackson Smith and Jigma.” But again, when it’s a quarterback we like like Mahomes or Stafford, we’re like, “Look what Stafford’s doing. Look what Mahomes is doing.” We’re like, “Well, what about Puka Nakua? What about Travis Kelce? What about Devonte?” Like, you know, and so it’s just it just it’s all still becomes quarterback centric even though even when it doesn’t even seem like it’s not because I’m telling you right now like people didn’t like Jaylen Herz and so that’s why they elevated Saquon Barkley through the roof and they’re like, “No, this is all Saquon Barkley. nothing to do with Jaylen Herz, blah blah blah blah blah. And we can go on and on with all the various quarterbacks of who we decide in any given moment. Who do we like, who do we not like? Um, and it’s just kind of crazy to me. It really is because it’s, you know, listen, it is a little tricky because if you do have a quarterback like a Mahomes or a Stafford or whatever and you know the receivers and and and how how they talk to each other in terms of stats wise and and production, not obviously like actual talking. um you know, you need a great quarterback to be able to make great throws and you need a receiver to be able to run great routes and make great catches, etc., etc., etc. So, it’s, you know, it’s it’s not the easiest. It’s not as simple and straightforward as this guy gets the ball and he’s able to, you know, do a spin move or put his head down and barrel through people, right? It’s just it’s not that clear. So, I understand why it’s it can get tricky. I’m not going to act like I get it right all the time either. Like, it’s just something that you kind of have to figure out here. But one thing that I think we should all be able to agree is that Jir Gibbs is an absolute monster. No matter who the quarterback is, no matter what the O line is, no matter whether you have a stacked roster with Aman Ross St. Brown and Jameson and and whoever whoever whoever, like this is just monster production, monster monster production. And I just want to make this video because I just I I I don’t think it’s emphasized enough. And I can’t emphasize it enough like I like you can’t it can’t be understated. It just it we need to elevate it more because this is such so awesome to see. It’s so awesome to see. And again it’s directly leading to wins. And what I think is still spectacular, and this is just the how the Lions offense can be smartly run, is that you can have, you know, games like this and and and production like this and yet still get Aman Ross St. Brown involved, still get Jameson Williams involved, still get Montgomery involved, right? Like you still can get all of these pieces involved. And that’s what has always made this offense so scary. So, I I think I think it’s kind of safe to say even if you you didn’t necessarily sense that they feel that they should have the number one Super Bowl odds or whatever. Um, this offense, especially when it was Ben Johnson, especially when the O line and you know, they were all in their in their peak or whatever where like things were really firing at all cylinders. I just think that this Detroit Lions offense always had the potential to be the scariest offense you could possibly face because it was just like you’re just like they could beat you a thousand different ways. a thousand different ways. And it was like kind of just it’s just reminiscent of the Golden State Warriors. It’s just like I don’t know, is KD gonna go off for 50? Is Klay Thompson gonna score 40 points in one quarter? Is Steph Curry going to be, you know, eight you uh 8 for 12 from three? Like Draymond Green, he’s starting now knock down open threes. Like he’s got nine points with with three threes. He’s three for three on threes. Like what are we what are we even talking about right now? Again, you’re just like this is it’s exhausting. you’re just like, what’s what’s happening here? And that’s the energy that the Lions, you know, have been able to bring. Um, and make no mistake about it, Gibbs is um is a massive, massive, massive reason for that. And he’s seemingly only getting better and better and better. Um, and so, you know, just wanted to sing my praises for the Detroit Lions and Jir Gibbs. But those are just my thoughts. I’d absolutely love to hear yours. What do you guys all think about Jir Gibbs and the Detroit Lions? What he’s been able to do? Um, do you think the Lions proved anything specifically? Um, how do you feel about Jir Gibbs being, you know, again, let’s think about it. There’s more conversation about Dak Prescott being the MVP than a Jir Gibbs. and Dak Prescott was in a position where they said if they beat the Lions, he was now going to be the front runner in the MVP conversation and yet none of that conversation surrounding like a Jir Gibbs. So, I’m just curious your thoughts with regards to that. Um, so let me know your thoughts. I read every single comment. So, you agree with me or disagree with me. Either way, let’s get in some discussions. Let’s get in some fights, but ultimately let’s just have some fun. And please do consider subscribing. We are building an amazing community here and absolutely love to see you part of it. I want to build something that we all generally feel connected to, something that we’re really excited to be part of. I think we’re well on our way to doing it. Please don’t forget to give this video a thumbs up as it really does help the visibility and the algorithm. Thank you so much. See you next time.

  1. Julian, you're exactly right. Gibbs may even be extra boosted up too just to pull down Jared Goff lmao. I swear to God, Nick Wright or others who aren't Goff fans will eventually use Gibbs as a weapon to go at Goff 😂😂😂 It's gonna happen lol

Haha but fr, Gibbs has been terrific all season long. He's a terrific player

  2. @JWLSports, you made a video promoting Gibbs for MVP after saying the Lions weren't good this year. It just shows you don't watch games, probably just Philly, Chiefs, and Dallas.

The Lions are an offensive powerhouse but struggle against good defenses like the Packers, Chiefs, and Eagles. They lost to the Vikings, but that was more on Campbell and the Lions' run defense.

Despite their records, both the Chiefs and Lions QBs are playing well.

THIS IS WHY I CALL YOU A HYPOCRITE.

He literally made this video to downplay Dak for MVP by pushing Gibbs.

Which totally goes against his pre-Thursday night video saying this game wouldn't be a measuring stick for Dallas if they won.
They've got Gibbs, Amon-Ra, and Goff, a top 10 QB.
They were averaging 28.5 pts/game coming in.

Dallas's offense was never a real concern this year; we both said it. The defense was the question: could they get stops after the Williams trade against a true high-powered offense? The answer was no.

But if the reverse happened and Dallas won 30-28, would that seem like a good step forward for the defense?

Which is why I said your previous pre Thursday video was the worse take ever and that you was just afraid they would lose

  3. It's funny that comment that you just made about quarterbacks that we like and you put Stafford in that category but if you remember correctly when he played quarterback for the Detroit Lions he was one of the most hated quarterbacks in the league that all he did was pad his stats and he couldn't win the big game and he's throws way too many interceptions blah blah blah blah blah it's all selective crap
