I’ve been waiting for the Eagles to do this… and the timing is PERFECT!

Everyone’s focus heading into LA has to be Justin Herbert’s hand or the bird’s lack of Jaylen Carter. Yet, the biggest news for Philadelphia entering Monday night is their brand new starter on safety who might just fix their biggest issue. Plus, what Jordan Milada said about some mini by-week changes to finally get Saquon Barkley going. Jerch’s response to the rumors he won’t run versatile that continues to have me pretty excited. Thomas Mos, this is the Thomas show. Twice this season, Philadelphia suffered back-to-back ugly losses where the offensive sputtered while the defense looked out of character for quarters or even the entire game. And yet, the first time this losing streak happened, Philadelphia bounced back with a solid road win against a then strong opponent to kickstart a brand new four-game winning streak of their own. And now with Dallas floundering and the rest of the NFC in flux, Philadelphia’s road matchup in LA has a lot riding on it. In the news, just before kickoff, it’s already changing in favor of the birds. First though, the winner of the Birds apparel hoodie giveaway, the one you see on my body right here. Love this thing. is at the end of today’s video. So, watch until the end to see if you won. Although, if you drop a like on today’s video and also comment your score prediction down below, we get 70,000 views on this video, I’ll personally give away another one of these bad boys. It’s still live until midnight tonight. Use the details down in my description box and grab yours today. Now, quickly, let’s start with Darius Slate because all week long, we’ve been holding our breath to see if he could actually force his way to Philadelphia. As of right now, he hasn’t, but it seems like he’s trying. As he went on the Speak Easy podcast a couple of days ago and explained at this point in his career at 34, moving to Buffalo, it’s just not something he wants to do. Uh the thing is that is just that the fact that I just got out of Pittsburgh. Um I don’t feel like packing up, moving again. I’m like, bro, I’m 13 years in. Like I done did it now. They would have caught me about 28 29. Yeah. I’m like, you know what I’m saying? I was like, okay. You know what I’m saying? Cuz that’s a that’s a top organization, man. They got a lot of great things going. want to be winning. They go to the playoff. They got a a franchise quarterback. So, it’s not it wasn’t a bad fit. They just caught me at a bad time. Daryl Slay has a kid graduating high school, 18 years old, and so obviously not wanting to pick his family up and move. It’s an excuse that makes sense. Although technically the season’s almost over, he himself could move there, leave the family. I don’t know. I think it’s very simple. He wants to be in Philadelphia. He wants to play for the Eagles. And it’s not the Eagles. It’s going to be nobody. If the Philadelphia Eagles would have claimed you, would you have been there today? Don’t lie to me, Slay. You can lie to them. Don’t lie to me. Oh, man. We know. Uh, we don’t know, man. We’ll see though. We don’t know. Crazy. Slay. You don’t You do not lie in the speak easy. However, things technically did come to a little bit of a head problem for Philadelphia on Friday evening as the Bills play Slay on the reserve/d report list, which technically means Buffalo controls his rights for the time being. Although really, this is not a surprise. It was the likely next move for Buffalo to try to get him to actually show up as right now he’s still a Bill. He can’t go anywhere and yet he does not count against their 53man roster. So Slay has three options. A continue to wait, hold out, and hope Buffalo eventually waves him, which is definitely a possibility. Report to Buffalo or simply retire. All are still on the table. A lot’s going to happen next week. So go ahead and stay tuned. Now back to the game and first with injuries and Philadelphia’s practices this week. Guess what? The birds are actually extremely healthy entering this one as all their limited participants earlier this week including Jaylen Phillips’s concussion are cleared and ready to roll. And yet the big loss as we all know it’s going to be Jillen Carter which means Moro Jomo and Bryce Young are the two big names to watch going into Monday night. They must step up in a major way and both know it. I think that you just you try your best. Um, I think that we’ve got a defense of a lot of guys that want opportunity and want to play hard and um, you know, I think we’re just excited to have that opportunity. Obviously a little sad for Jaylen not to be there, but you know, I think he should get right and get his body feeling as good as possible and we’re we’re going to be ready when he comes back. I mean, obviously he’s a great player, one of the best in the league, but uh, everybody believes in everybody in the group and, you know, there’s going to be different players that have to step up. I’ll be one of them and we might have other guys that have to come along, too. Philadelphia’s two games without Jaylen Carter this year includes Dallas going for 119 on the ground and then the Giants going for the big one a buck 72 without JC with the latter obviously being much worse. Although that game did give us a very short glimpse at rookie vanilla gorilla Ty Robinson who with JC now out is expected to be activated on Monday night and will play at least somewhat a larger role with Carter on the sideline. Of course, Ty Robinson is not going to instantly roll in there and be the greatest run stopping defensive tackle a rookie has ever been, but he at least is a fresh body. I think fresh bodies are a key factor here. Philadelphia has been gashed and really out of breath the past couple of games. They put a ton of snaps on defense. Now with JC out, in comes Vanilla Gorilla. And honestly, a great opportunity to get him reps. He’s not going to play a ton. 1920 snaps. We’ll see though. I’m pumped to see Ty Robinson. I didn’t know nothing coming into the season, right? But, you know, being around the guys for, you know, halfway through the season, I definitely feel like I’ve grown as a player. Uh, and, you know, obviously I feel a little bit more ready. Uh, you know, it’s a challenge and I, you know, I’m not going to back away from a challenge and I’m going to take what I can with it. Also want to give a massive shout out to the sponsor’s video, Gruns, because this bad boy, something brand new, they’re launching just in time for the holidays. I partner with Gruns for the better part of 6 months now, and I take one of these little packets every single day because it’s not just a greens gummy or a prebiotic or multivitamin. It’s all that and more packed into one little packet in delicious bite-sized gummies. And now for the holiday season, Grun just dropped their limited edition Grinch Punch flavor, which come on, first off, the name is hilarious and the packing is incredible. And second, it has a festive berry punch flavor that tastes absolutely great. And of course, you get these same full body benefits, but now with the flavor of Christmas in every bite. Of course, these will go fast, so don’t wait. I mean, come on. You already know this, but more than 20 vitamins and minerals, six times more gut health ingredients than the leading greens powders, biotin, nioinomide for stronger hair, skin, and nails, plus functional mushrooms for gut and brain support. And again, it’s one of these little tiny packets right here. It’s just that small. It can go anywhere with you. Traveling vacation, my wife and I took him to the hospital for our baby’s birth a month ago. It’s so simple, it’s so easy, and just grab and go every single day. And right now, you can shop Groom’s biggest sale of the year. So, scan the QR code on my screen over here. Check the link down my description box. Check out Guns. Try them today. The main problem though for Philadelphia is just like what happened with Chicago a couple of days ago. The Chargers are a run first team and they’re very good at it with eight games this season over 100 yards on the ground. Including last week they went for 192 versus the Las Vegas Raiders. And well obviously not confirmed yet. Rookie running back Marian Hampton has been practicing this week. Told the media if it was up to him he’s going to play. So here’s the hoping Vic Fanjo has at least some sort of fix for the embarrassing run defense from a week ago going forward. They’ve rushed for 200 yards on two teams this year. Um, Greg’s always done a good job running the ball schematically. They have big tight end, big fullback, pretty big O line, uh, good backs. You know, they run it very, very good. One fix I personally think has happened and will happen and I’m very curious to see how it looks will be the brand new starting safety allegedly on Monday night in Marcus EPS who by no means is a savior but there’s a real argument his abilities in the box against the run are far greater than city Brown I mean both like to fly around and hit you both are very physical but Brown is usually completely out of control that’s his main problem causing a ton of missed tackles we saw that in the bear game maybe eps getting the start can at least mitigate that and we’ll see but it at least does sound like he’s going to run with the ones he will be the starter versus LA. He’s just a a great teammate I think. Um you know, getting to know him. Um you know, he’s been been really really good really good to be around veteran obviously. Um understands the game really well and uh you know, I’m I’m happy he’s here. He’s he’s taught me a lot. I’ve learned a lot from him. He’s he’s always been involved. Um you know, even even when he’s been out on the sidelines during games um helping out Drew or helping out Sid, whoever it was that was in while he was out, um even myself. So, um, really great communicator on the field. Um, um, uses great communication when he’s out there and, um, yeah, he’s just been been great ever since he got here. I do think Philadelphia’s defense is going to play well on Monday night. Marcus Ep, Sydney Brown, Ty Robinson, regardless because Vic Fano’s defenses this season, they’ve not had back-to back really bad games. And really, the Cowboy game, it wasn’t terrible until the fourth quarter, but the Bear game was awful. They usually bounce back. They did hold the Packers and Lions to very lowcoring days. I think they’re to be just fine. Plus, the big elephant in the room, Justin Herbert’s left hand, which I’ll be honest, I actually have no clue if Justin Herbert is going to play or not. At least as of filming here on a Saturday morning, I think he’s going to play, but it seems like at this point, the Chargers are not quite sure. Clearly, he’s trying. I mean, right here, you see him throwing at practice. That’s a good sign the past few days. But then you see the cast on that surgery repaired left hand. It’s a pretty big one. And I went, that’s interesting. It’s also been reported that Justin Herbert is not going to be able to receive any sort of pain injections for the hand due to it actually being a hand and the surgery, not a doctor. That was the report, which means pain tolerance, swelling are the two big factors here. And if they don’t go down by Monday night, there’s still a chance he doesn’t play. Plus, if he does play, Philadelphia obviously knows the injury is there. Obviously knows pain and stability are a big thing. As Morajomo said, they’re not going to take it lightly. They’re going to attack that left hand in a fair way, but in a football way. Yeah. Yeah, I mean I think it changes up the the run dynamic the way that he has to hold the ball and um you know I think I mean anything that helps us get an extra second, right? So I think him having to hold the ball differently probably makes him hold it for a little bit and um it’s to our advantage I hope. And then of course the real issue handing off under center. We talked about this all week long. Can Justin Herbert do it with the cast or are they going to be sitting back and pistol and shotgun and running their offense that way the entire day? It’s going to be interesting. Time obviously will tell. Trey Lance is the backup. They’ve been prepping him all week long. We’re going to find out most likely as we get through the weekend, maybe even Monday before the game. I think he plays. There might still be some surprises, but we’ll see. Now, of course, Justin Herbert aside, Julen Carter aside, Darius Slay aside, none of this matters if Philadelphia’s offense does not figure itself out. If Philadelphia’s offense goes into Monday night against a good Charger defense, it’s not an elite Charger defense and lays an egg once again, everyone’s going to abandon ship. However, if they play even 50% better than they did versus the Bears, they’re going to win this football game and a lot of people are going to buy back in. And of course, it starts with making some changes. And while Philadelphia will not tell us what exactly they worked on in practice, it does sound like the mini bye-week the past couple of days was a time of reflection and hopefully some moves to make this offense start moving. We’ve got we’ve got ways that we can improve. Obviously, I’m seeing how we, you know, seeing our efficiency and seeing some of the things that we pride ourselves in and we’re just not doing as well. And so, I think this bye-week was was time off um was a great time for everybody to reflect and hold and um keep their eyes on the prize and what we want to do. What kind of changes will the offensive genius Kevin Bulo actually pull out? I have no idea. Nor do I have a bunch of faith in his abilities. But I did like George Milada when he let slip this little tiny interview clip from WIP where he said they’re implementing some running changes this week to hopefully get Saquin Barkley going. To be honest, as boring as this sounds, it’s the same story every week. We are one block away. Um got some new stuff in this week, but hopefully uh we can execute up front. It’s all where it starts and that’s where it ends. If we execute up front, take care of everything else. How important has uh has Saquon been, you know, keeping everything on the right track? Positive attitude. He’s got he’s got the best energy, man. Best energy, best juice, best vibes. Um just so positive. Even, you know, when it’s raining, he’s he’s always positive. He’s got the umbrella out by everybody, you know, and I think such a special teammate he is and got to love him, man. Worth remembering Saquon Barkley did set the Eagles single game rushing record on this field last season of course against the other LA team but still maybe he likes this stadium. My hope is the running game changes actually though stem from the week-long conversation about Jaylen Herz running the football more quarterback design runs pair with more RPOS like the one we saw early verse the Chargers defense honest and therefore maybe spring sake one. Either way, I did like QB1’s response to this narrative that he doesn’t want to run the ball as only Jaylen Herz could during his weekly press conference from Thursday. Yeah, if you don’t mind me asking what is uh you how we come to that conclusion or rationalize that. So, it wasn’t my reporting, but there’s been reporting you don’t want to run the ball as much this year. Okay. Um, I’ve always been focused on doing whatever, you know, it takes to win and I’ve always put my energy on, um, trying to bring a game plan and the strategy that week to life. So, I’ll continue to do that. In reality though, Monday night for the Bird offense, it’s super simple. What do you actually want to be? Do you want to be the Eagle team that folds and crumbles like 2023, or they want to rebound as a whole and take a chokeold, a death grip on the NFC East? Because as you know, Dallas lost on Thursday night, meaning Philadelphia must simply win three more games to secure the division regardless of what Dallas does. That becomes two. The Cowboys lose one more and technically the Eagles could win zero games the rest of the way if Dallas loses out as well. Again, we don’t want that. But still, the NFC East is there. Go and get it. You must win on Monday. And really, that point is something I tried to hammer home with Josh Davis during our live stream earlier in the week. I know they still have plenty of time. They could technically lose on Monday night and be okay. No one’s going to believe in them after Monday night if they lose. They must win this one and they must look good doing it. But let’s just be real here for morale in Philadelphia. Everybody outside the Novaare complex and maybe inside as well. They have to win on Monday night. There’s absolutely no scenario where they lose on Monday night and there’s anybody still buying into this football team, especially if the offense keeps looking as bad as it does. And the problem that we have, Josh, it’s getting worse. Like we forget that it was really good in the second half versus the Los Angeles Rams. It was really good in that first half versus the Denver Broncos. It was fantastic for most of the game against the Vikings. All the game against the Giants, it was bad basically the entire night except for one or two drives versus the Chicago Bears. And the Bears defense is not good. And the Charger defense is technically better. And so, like you say, Kemp Patulo, he tells us every single week they’re making changes. They got wrinkles. They’re adjusting. They’re looking inward. And we’re like, oh, okay. But, you know, fool me once, shame on you. Fool me 13 weeks in a row and then maybe it’s shame on me, right? That’s the whole problem. So, I’m not necessarily confident the offense is going to look better. I know the defense will look better, but they got to win on Monday night and it’s going to be probably a Justin Herbert led Chargers team. I still think he’s going to be questionable. I know today it’s like I’m trying to I’m going to try and play. I think it’s a little bit bigger of an injury than people realize. He had a plate and screws put into his left hand. Any sort of hit on that could be a real problem. Either way, big game. It’s a big game for the Chargers, too, because they obviously after that got to play the uh the Kansas City Chiefs. They’re probably battling it out for the six or even the seven seed in the AFC wild card race. It’s a big night on Monday night. And they’ve got to look good on national television, Josh, and not blow a lead or be unable to move the football. Yes. And that that is even even hearing that come out of your mouth. Big ask to go, do I believe that that could happen? I don’t know. I I want to have optimism. And you talking about Hard Knocks, by the way, if people did not watch it, you didn’t miss a whole lot. It it it wasn’t the most riveting thing. I will say that it it was cool to see the interaction from Jaylen Herz, that was I think the biggest take away from it of and and not that we didn’t necessarily know this and I think the majority of people understood this, but for the people that are just criticizing Herz and be like, “Bro, like it’s it’s it’s annoying. He’s just sitting there like a bump on a log. He doesn’t care at all. He’s affected by nothing.” It’s like there you go. You saw a little bit more behind the scenes, a little bit more of it miked up and say, “Oh, really? You got to be kidding me. What? Jaylen Herds is a competitor? Like he gets ticked off when he misses play.” Oh, wow. You really shock. Like, how is that a surprise to everybody else? You know, he’s a Super Bowl MVP for a reason. He’s won these games. Winning is the only thing that matters when he messes up. But I appreciate the fact that like he’s going over there. He’s talking to AJ Brown. He’s talking to Devonte Smith. He’s saying, “My bad. I gotta make those plays. Telling the offensive line the same thing. Now again, it doesn’t make it better for the mistakes that he had for the fumble. Sure, like they were on him and he played one of his worst games all season, but maybe it can hopefully put a little bit of just I I don’t know. I’m not not even say like confidence in the offense obviously cuz they’ve not been there. but a little bit of reprieve I guess for for like a Jaylen Herd’s thought of like oh my gosh he’s just not it because yeah he’s had his issues but play calling look at the routes look look at the the options they have look at what they’re giving him it’s not maximizing it anywhere close and so then yeah you add on top of it the communication issues everything there I appreciate what Jordan Milada said and if people did not catch it uh paraphrasing basically he says it was not it’s not 2023 three just you know keep quit saying that this is not the case he’s obviously a player then but the thing that he points to Thomas and this is the the like love Jordan Milada huge fan we’re all fans of Jordan but like I hear him say the main thing is like you know oh the details like like this season the attention to detail the the practices where we’re focusing on all that other stuff it was not there in 2023 okay fine maybe they weren’t maybe the practices themselves were not there but come Sunday what’s what’s different like They may be practicing it a lot more. It’s every single time it’s a penalty. It’s it’s attention to detail with the choice route with Devonte Smith and Jayen Herz not being on the same page. You miss a touchdown there. It’s attention to detail for getting penalties off of big plays. It’s like, “Oh, there’s a 30-yard g now it’s coming back.” Because it’s gotten to the point now where when we’re calling the game, you’re like, “Oh, hey, breaks off for a 30-y gain.” And we have to like kind of lower the levels of expectation there cuz it’s like, “But wait, is there a flag coming on?” It’s it’s ridiculous. But it’s because of those details. And so I appreciate the fact that they preach it a nauseium, but we haven’t seen it show itself on the field. Now, can it get turned around? As you said, technically there’s enough time. Technically, they could do it, but as we’ve said, I think they’ve got to show it to us and not just say it. Um Jake, appreciate the super chats here. I’ll get some of these. Uh for the two said, “Been a wild week being an Eagles fan in Illinois.” That would be a little tough coming off the Bears loss. Um nope. Yeah, shout out to you, Jake. But, uh, keep the faith. We at least got the Super Bowl from last year. That I don’t know. May maybe they changed something. Even though KP’s not being changed, and he also said he’s not going up the press box. Um, interesting enough, or going up to the box or the booth, you know, for calling plays. I I appreciate it. At least Nick Fos throwing out the suggestion of like, look, if we’re not going to fire him, you know, like let’s have a real conversation. Maybe we do that. maybe the 15 uh scripted plays on the the note cards or the flash cards and do those per quarter. It sounds incredibly elementary, but at this point KP can’t seem to go back to things that are working earlier, so it helps to have a cheat sheet of sorts. Go for it. It It doesn’t sound like we’re going to get those changes. So, I really don’t know. Um Dylan with a five. Our guard is the only difference, sorry, different player on offense from 2024. If we lose to LA and our offense doesn’t score 20, both KP and Nick can be shipped off. Well, I do think and I I I think this is an important point to make. KP will likely be demoted if they lose and look bad on Monday night. I mean, we’ve said it every single week, but three losses in a row. It was two with Shawn Desai and then he quietly got demoted actually probably the week before because we don’t know exactly when that happened and then they lost again and then he was officially relieved of his duties. still on the uh you know defensive roster I guess but you know insert Matt Patricia Nick Serriani has to understand and has to start feeling the pressure that if a 2023 type collapse happens again where they’re 8 and2 and running away with the NFC East and right there for the one seed with the same exact roster as the super chat just said if he has another collapse and they either lose the division which is very much in play with how redot Dallas is right now and their schedule’s not that tough they beat a floundering Lion team tomorrow night it’s going to get really interesting really fast. Then Nick Serriani starts feeling the breath on the back of his neck and it’s like okay you know I got to do something and that something will be Kempulo cuz he’s got to save his own butt first acts his guy Kempulo and that nothing changes then maybe just maybe it could happen with Nick Serani towards the end of the season if it goes really dark. So, I do think that this truly, after saying it for weeks now, is Kev Kevin Patulo’s final straw because you can’t lose this one because if they lose this one and Dallas wins on Thursday night, it gets a lot trickier to go ahead and make sure they wrap up wrap up the division because then they have to win four of their last four to guarantee that even a Cowboy undefeated on their last four does not beat them for the NFC East. So, I think that this would probably be it. Now, of course, plenty more stuff happening the next couple of days and weeks, including our live stream on Monday night. Be sure to go ahead and subscribe and tune in. We have a bunch of fun during those broadcasts. And as usual, the randomly selected subscriber who commented goss the past couple of days to win one of these bad boys, the uh Eagles hoodies, the retro handstitched hoodie I love. I’ll link them down below if you want to pick one up. By the way, that was JFF7564. So, put below in my description box, send me an email, prove it’s you. Address, size, color. We’ll get it sent out to you guys. But we’ll give another one away if this one gets to 70,000 views this video. So stay tuned for my Tuesday show. We’ll see what happens on Monday night. Hopefully they’re going to be okay. I have faith, but I also don’t have a lot of faith. I don’t know. We’ll see. I’m Thomas SMT though. This has been Thomas show.

Eagles vs Chargers news is still in flux as the status of Justin Herbert and his left hand injury will likely last up until kickoff on Monday night. Herbert has been nursing a large cast on that wrist at practice and was seen not taking snaps under center on Friday. Will the Chargers risk Herbert and give the Eagles an even bigger advantage? Also, Vic Fangio is likely turning to veteran safety Marcus Epps on Monday night due to the poor play of Sydney Brown. Epps has hardly played all season; however, his ability to stop the run could be exactly what the Eagles are looking for. Plus, what Jordan Mailata said they changed to help get Saquon Barkley going and why Jalen Hurts and Nick Sirianni need a big win as the NFC Playoff race heats up! Full Eagles vs Chargers preview with injury news on today’s show.
