Coach Christie | Postgame Interview 12.6.25
out what 18 points in the first quarter. Uh was it a point of emphasis to give him those shots after that two-point game? No. Um you know, more than anything, we want Zack to just be aggressive. That’s that’s who he is for us. We need him. We want to shoot more three-pointers. We still didn’t get to the 40 number that we want to get to on a nightight basis. Eight. Um I mean, we get up 33. So, we are still seven short, but he is he is our main guy when it comes to, you know, pulling up. And we got some screens for him early. He got some in transition, but he came out and set the tone with a very very aggressive mindset. Uh there was felt like a lot more live ball turnovers than what the uh box score shows, but it felt like Demar was always on the ground. It felt like you guys were just getting deflections, just always having your finger on on a poss on the opposing team’s possession. What do you think about your guys’ defense tonight? You know, um scout-wise, we we really tried to make sure that we were keeping them in front of us, trying to have hands in passing lanes and things like that. And I thought the to to be honest, I just told them in there the winning play of the game in my opinion was Demar diving on the floor. Like they love him like that. And when he sets a tone that way, it brings up, you know, it brings up everyone’s spirit and everyone’s mindset. So, it was really good to see him doing that. Uh Max double double tonight. Uh and he started and it felt like last couple games he had been coming off the bench. So, what’s it like? We talked about that before the game. Yeah. Um super happy for him. you know, the the player of the game was Zack, and we we got a ball that we give out, and Zach actually gave it to Max for his first start. So, um, great teammate, but for him to to come out in his first start and get a double double, I mean, he didn’t look out of place. He he looked poised. Um, I thought he tried to protect the rim. um rebound the basketball obviously with 10, but you know they’re young players, him, Nick, they’re they’re going to make some mistakes and we’re going to live with those mistakes because they come from the right place with energy, effort, enthusiasm, teamwork, all those things. And what’s it feel for you guys to have this defensive performance against one of the top offenses in the league for a team that people say isn’t great defensively? Yeah. Um, you know, we work on the defense when we when we get practice days and when these guys are locked in, we’ve seen them play some really good defense, you know, boxes and elbows and trying to protect the paint. And this team in Miami scores the ball at a really high clip. Now, they had some guys out, so so you got to understand that. At the same time, they played on a back to back, so there are some things there, but still their style of basketball plays to everyone on their team. So, I know Spo, it’s a next man up. There’s no excuses. And for us to come out and play that way was uh mightily impressive. Thank you. Appreciate you guys. Um guys,
