POST CAST: FRUSTRATION BUILDS AFTER OTTAWA SENATORS FAIL TO BEAT JOEL HOFER, ST LOUIS BLUES AT HOME

It’s a game in a home stand that has many wondering. Is December the new November? Welcome to the Postcast. I’m Ross Levitan alongside Brandon Pillar. Postcast always brought to you by the Gleeb Central Pub. Check them out at 779 Bank Street. And make sure to jump on the Gleeb Central Pub shuttle. Just $18 round trip to and from the CTC. Tonight, Ottawa’s offense did everything but score enough goals to win, throwing 41 shots on Joel Hoffer. They get a late power play goal to bring it within one, but ultimately lose 2-1 the final score. Pillsy, I want to dive right into the frustration at the end of this game, but before that, what was your overall impression watching this game develop? Well, Ross, I mean, scoring one goal in a game isn’t going to be enough goals to win you many games. uh even up against one of the NHL’s worst teams backup goalie. And to add on to that, Jordan Kyu gets hurt and misses most of this game. I’m look, he only played what, 53 seconds. 53 seconds. So, they’re down one of their top players for the entire game. You’re at home. I know the Ottawa Centers have injuries, too, but it’s not enough excuses to not be able to at the very least take this game past regulation, and you look at where the standings are now, and the Ottawa Centers have slid far down after just two regulation losses. We were on cloud9 a couple days ago when they beat the Habs in regulation. Now, look at how things are here. So, this is tough. And it’s not like, again, there’s not enough excuses here. Sure, you got the injuries, but you get seven power plays and yeah, you score on one of them, but it’s too little too late. Lena Almark has to dive back to stop an empty net goal. You end up losing an opportunity for an offensive zone faceoff with the man advantage goalie pulled because you’re too pissed off and it ends up costing you a penalty at the end of it and your star players are kicked out of the game when you’re trying to tie this thing up. It it just this is not a good look for the sends. And I I don’t want to say Ross, this isn’t like a all lack of effort. The guys weren’t trying out there like they were putting a lot of pucks on net. You got to give credit to again Joel Hoffer, but this is this is not a good spot to be for the Ottawa Centers. I mean, I’m I’m still in my Christmas shirt. You’re still wearing a jacket. And we’re trying to have a good vibe cast here, but that’s just not how it’s going to be tonight. No, it’s not. And not only is that now back-to-back losses at home for the Senators, but four of the last five losses in regulation that happens to be since Brady Kachchuck got back into the lineup. So frustrating all around. We hope Brady’s all right, too. Took a high stick from his buddy Robert Thomas in the first period. That was two of the power play opportunities. Ottawa at one point were ahead 15-2 on the shot clock. That was after the first period. And then even the second started out with a pretty slanted towards St. Louis’s own zone. They just couldn’t get that final touch. And say what you want about the bounces that St. Louis got. The first goal in particular, you’re like, “Okay, end of a power play.” You’re kind of lucky if you’re the Sun’s PK percentage, 31st in the league, that the time expired as the puck was bouncing in the air, but lands right in a spot where the Blues can tap it in, and they do. this to me I think what’s most frustrating is the fact that now after you say that you won the road trip you come back over 500 great to not even have a single lead in the two games when you come back home and to say you got goalie twice you can use that once when it’s Igor Sturken at top of his game but I I can’t allow you to tell me that when the guy who’s in net had to mop up an 8-1 loss last time the St. Louis Blues came to Ottawa. This should not happen at home for the Senators with that many opportunities, that many power plays. It’s makes me sick the lack of finishing that this team has with the man advantage right now. Yeah, and that’s what I mean, Ross. Like, you can try to make excuses, but each time you try to make an excuse, there’s a better reason why that excuse should not count or happen. And big time. I I really thought like their Oh my god, I’m losing track of power plays here. Their sixth power play, they were snapping it around and they were actually getting good opportunities, but they’re just not able to bury and then they’re finally able to get one on that on that final seventh one. But at that point, it’s just it’s too late and you needed to find a way to score before that. especially like you mentioned starting this game outshooting the opponent 15-2 and not being able to find a way to get the advantage here. I mean, look, I know Shane Pinto, the team’s leading goal scorer is out, but you’ve got other guys and I know this is fuel to the fire for the Sens crowd that says, “Pilly, we desperately need that top six impact player.” And that’s fair. Uh, but I just they should have been able to find a way here. And I I’m at a loss of words, honestly, for how they weren’t able to at least tie this thing up. Well, it shouldn’t have even gotten to that point. Like, Ottawa shouldn’t be having to chase these games at home if they’re able to finish on their chances early. It just just frustrating. And I think it all boiled over at the end. There were 7 seconds left in the game. Ottawa should be getting an offensive zone faceoff off of a decent play where they get it to the front of the net. Brady finds Dylan Cousins and it’s just a jam play. Everybody falls on top and yeah, did I think two St. Louis Blues on top of Cousins for that long was a little much. Sure. But Cousins got up there and the discipline just completely left his body. Felt like he was a saber again and it was just like, hey, not nothing matters anymore. Who cares? Just get kicked out. But he punches Robert Thomas in the face like just first guy wearing that jersey. He’s getting it fine. Refs actually let that one go too. Yep. It was then Sunfist that little rat comes in and he knows that he’s got Dylan Cousins kind of rattled. He knows if he does anything that the the going to reach a boiling point and it does because it becomes a fullon five on five or six on five. Six on five. Yeah. Oper got involved to even it up. Yeah, but because the Sen’s defenseman go past the hash marks, faceoff comes outside the zone, but then ultimately Ottawa gets an extra penalty. So the faceoff’s all the way down and then Pelysey, they pan over to the bench, Tim Stutzler leaves, Drake Bathson leaves, Brady Kachchuck leaves. So you went from an ozone faceoff with all your best players on the ice to all your best players in the locker room and you’re in the defensive zone and you’re the best faceoff team in the league. Like that should be a moment where you’re like, “Look, I know this game hasn’t gone away, but let’s just keep our heads cool here.” And like you said, they got away with some garbage, some shenanigans, and if Dylan Cousins could just skate away and not let it happen. Look, I know 7 seconds is still not a lot of time. You’re the best faceoff team in the league. You built some some momentum. You just scored on the man advantage a couple minutes before. You’ve got the right guys on the ice there. That should be a time where you’re like, “All right, we got to find a way to get this done.” And they let their emotions get the best of them, unfortunately. And I can’t say I fully blame them because that’s a frustrating time and opportunity and uh moment there, like you said. But you let a prime opportunity slip away when you cannot afford to have that happen. And I was looking for Mark to join that fight, but then I was like, “Oh no, he’s on the bench.” And I kind of thought he might hop over because we know how excited he’s been for a fight. And uh for 10ame suspension though. No, definitely not. But I was kind of like, what is Mark doing? Why isn’t he not getting in here? Oh, yeah. He’s on the bench. Uh Quebec connect says, “Why did you guys not like Dylan Cousins standing up for himself like that?” I think I think you explained it right. He did stand up for himself and he got his pound of flesh popping Thomas in the face. It was after letting Sunfist Sunfist did. I think he might have just chirped him like he didn’t get in his face or anything. He just said a little something that was the straw on the camel’s back and Cousins couldn’t let it go. He gives him the shove and that opens the can of worms there. So I I agree. I think Cousins should have been pissed off there. Like that’s not cool to have those guys on top of you and Drake’s trying to pull him off and it’s a classic scrum where you’re going to be pissed off how it’s going. But it’s the fact that you got away with it and you could have just skated off and then had your offensive zone face off with the goalie pulled six on fiveman advantage and you lose that opportunity. Yeah. And he replies saying the game was over at that point, boys. But like you can’t act like that with 7 seconds left. You got to assume that you win the faceoff. Crazier things have happened. Just ask the St. Louis Blues when they let in a goal with 6 seconds left to lose or to end up getting tied in the playoffs in game seven and they lose in double overtime. you you don’t have the luxury of being like, “Ah, whatever. This game’s over.” You’re fighting for your playoff lives right now. And other teams in the Eastern Conference, Montreal Canadians just won in a shootout. You’re sliding down into the standings here. You got to leaprog five teams now just to get an opportunity at a playoff position. I know it’s early, but like these are important points. A offensive zone faceoff with seven seconds left up against one of the worst teams in the league. You need that. Yeah. And it did not happen tonight. Senators lose 2-1 to the St. Louis Blues. Ottawa with 41 shots on goal. 20 for the Blues. Ottawa’s power play goes 1 for7. St. Louis 0 for one, but they did score right after the time expired on penalty. St. Louis gets the edge in faceoffs tonight, 50.7%. That’s the second game in a row where Ottawa’s lost in the dot. Ottawa with 25 hits to St. Louis is 22 and the Blues block 21 shots to only 10 for Ottawa. The expected goals, no surprise, with the shot totals well in favor, 58.7% for the Ottawa Senators, but the only stat that matters is they’re leaving here with zero points, PZY. Not even one in this twoame home stand. And then you look at it, Ross, losing in regulation to the Blues what, a week ago. like you’re looking back at this season. The Blues might finish with a top five pick and you lost both games in regulation to them. There was a few positives though in this game. I’m Ross Levitan alongside Brandon Pillar here, a part of Lockdown Podcast Network, the number one sports podcasting network. And the Senators frustrated tonight. 2-1 the final score. Senators just dominating the shot clock in this one, but it did not matter one little bit. Can you point out something positive that happened tonight, Pelysey? Cuz I’m kind of at a loss. I think I’m I’m a little full diaper after tonight’s game. I think this was a game where look, we don’t always uh hang our hats on the deserve to win a meter on moneypuck.com, but Ottawa wins this game 85% of the time according to them. Yeah, I mean that’s why you play the games and it’s not just a stat battle of the calculators. But I guess if I had to find one positive and I think mostly the chat has agreed is I thought Stephen Holidayiday had a nice game. Amy looked good out there. He gets an assist on this Eterling goal and he gets much more ice time than he got the last game. 11 minutes and 12 seconds I think. What the game before it was only like 6 and a half minutes. So that’s good at least. But I think and I I guess I’ll call him my S central standout. I don’t know if you have another S central standout you want to talk about, but I I think we need to open up a big conversation about ice time here. Uh but I’ll let you have a crack at a S central standout. Well, it’s like Travis Green will just refuse to use 12 forwards. There’s always somebody that he’s just not going to play. Tonight, Hayden Hodgson had three shifts for a minute 53. Like, I get that you guys are down injuries, but like you can’t have a guy play more than a minute 53. Like, I don’t know. It just feels like you have 12 forwards and six defenseman for a reason. Yeah. To use them. And if you’re going to have a minute 53 and put McDermad in because there’s 61 and two of them in the lineup. And that’s the thing. I I kind of was under the assumption that Travis Green liked Hayden Hodgson’s game. So, it’s baffling to me to see him get this amount of ice time. Now, obviously, score effects. When it’s a tight game and you’re down, you’re not exactly looking to get your bowling ball out there. You’re trying to get guys that can score offensively, but we’re going to have a real issue here if Jake Sanderson is playing 31 minutes and 4 seconds in a losing regulation effort to the St. Louis Blues in December. And this team’s gonna expect to go on a grind of 82 games and hopefully beyond that and try to push to win more than just a couple playoff games. Like, you can’t have your number one defenseman doing this. And I know he’s Jake Sanderson. He’s got the Netom Meyer trait where he can play hard minutes and it looks like he’s barely even breaking a sweat because he’s a great skater. I get all that. He’s young. He’ll bounce back. He takes care of his body with amazing discipline and he’s obviously got like the endurance and the cardio and everything, but eventually these guys are going to get worn down. And then you look at the forwards. Tim Stutzless since Freddy Kchuck has been back. He’s been playing over 22 minutes a night pretty much every single night. You can maybe stat fact check me on that, Ross, but he’s just been playing way too much. And Timmy’s one of those guys where when it’s games like this and he’s playing so much, I feel like he puts the whole world’s weight on his shoulders and he’s gripping the stick too tight. He’s trying to do everything himself. Like that’s what happened when Lenus had to dive back from going to the bench. Tammy’s trying to stick handle through six different guys in the ozone. You like you can’t be doing that. You got to play smart and responsible when you know that goal is getting pulled out. hold on to that puck and just you have to be able to trust your teammates to use them, not be dangling in the middle of the ice like that. So, I mean, shout out allark for having the presence of mind to do that. That was an incredible highlight and it was awesome to see fans reactions in the crowd when it happened. But back to the main point, the fact that Jake Sanderson and Tim Stoza are playing this much and I know there’s injuries is just not sustainable. No, it’s not. And looking at the stats of Tim Stewart since Brady Kachchuck came back, that’s that’s tough and it might have to start being a conversation cuz like there’s no doubt this is a way better team with Brady Kachchuck in the lineup. Like I don’t want this to come off the wrong way, but Tim Stutza has not been himself. Dash two again tonight. In the five games with Brady Kachchuck back, he’s a minus eight with one assist. That’s it. That’s That’s just not gonna cut it over a five game a fiveame sample pillsy where he was plus three against Montreal. Those are some deep dashes otherwise. He’s back to being brutal in the faceoff dot. I don’t know what he was tonight, but in the last four games, he was sitting at 35%. 22% tonight, Ross. So, put the the average down there. He had seven giveaways in those four games as well. It’s just not been a good stretch for Tim Stutla after the start of the trip where every night we had him as a standout. He was one of the best players I felt like in the league over about a two week stretch and it’s just falling back down to earth and it’s that extra move two, three, four that he’s doing that’s just not finding anything and it’s either he’s healing a pass or he’s just not being able to get that same oomph on his shot that he’s been able to do at the start of the season. He was statistically in terms of the game score that we like to take a look at the worst forward on the Ottawa Senators tonight minus 1.1 but the best was Steven Halliday. So you nailed that one. And for my Sun Central standout and it goes a little bit into the conversation of Jake Sanderson too. I did like this move from Nolan Bombgardner in the defense. They quickly moved away from the Sanderson Zoo pair tonight and went back to Sanderson Spence. And Jordan Spence will be my Sun Central standout tonight. He had a phenomenal game in terms of how he was impacting offensive possession and allowing the Senators to play in offensive zone situations. When he was out there with Jake Sanderson, the shot attempts were 19 to five for Ottawa. When he’s out there with Cleven, it was 6-2 for Ottawa. So, he was a guy who I felt like at least was and he was trying to get pucks on net. I know one hit Philip Broberg in the inside of the knee that didn’t feel too good, but at least he was trying to get pucks on net. I mean, pretty much everyone should have a positive uh shot differential in this one, but still that is a good number. Now, do we think maybe Zub isn’t 100% and that’s why maybe his ice time had to be managed and that move had to be made? Yeah, I think that’s very understandable to think. Yeah. Yeah, that could be a factor. Played 1446 in this game. Not that Sanderson Spence isn’t a good pair. We we’ve liked what we’ve seen most nights, but yeah, that’s uh that could be a factor for sure because I mean with the way this decor is having Dennis Gilbert in here and no Zub and no Shabbat, that’s a real weak decor that uh is not what you’re hoping to deploy here. So, I can see why maybe they’re like, “Look, Zub, if you’re if you’re at 80%, we need you here.” And uh yeah, he gave what he gave what he had, man. Yeah. Yeah. And a lot of the guys did just frustrating night for sure for the Ottawa Senators. That’s really what it comes down to where they just could not get anything going. And that’s a problem too when you don’t score in the first period at home like they haven’t in the last two games. I mean, they scored late, but it was already two nothing the Rangers for uh the game on Thursday. And it’s like that the crowd needs something to get going. And it’s not like they’re getting that fight or that big hit. There’s no It just feels like they’re they’re happy to play lowe event hockey and if their chances go in, great. But in a game like tonight, it doesn’t. And then you’re just looking around saying, “Wow, we kind of pissed those points away.” Yeah. And I think like I think there’s some debate in the chat whether Allar is to blame here. This was not on all like the two goals like you mentioned the first one that’s one that just to flex high and Neighbors has it kind of bank off him. Then the second goal it’s a back door tap it where Neighbors is wide open like what’s all supposed to do and then you got to give the guy credit for that diving play uh heading to the net. Although that’s one of those crazy ones Ross. I don’t know about you, but when I was goalie, if I’m getting pulled, I’m putting my head down and chugging as fast as I can to the net cuz every second that you’re on the ice is a second that that extra man can’t be there. So, it’s kind of a weird move to be like kind of going and watching going watching and then like diving back. Now, obviously that’s the right play there because he makes an incredible save and keeps his sends in this game. But I always thought that was interesting because my mindset and what do I know? But my mindset was always just get to the net as or the bench as soon as you’re called. Yeah. And it was an awesome save. It really was. Got to stay and it was going in too like they showed that angle. I at least Joel Hoford didn’t get the last laugh too and score a goal. That was a sick shot. He almost hit the jumbotron on that one. He got under it so much. Yeah. Yeah, that was uh that would have been salt in the open festering wound of this game if got the goalie goal. Maybe the chat can help us out. Has there ever been a goalie goal at the Canadian Tire Center? Cuz I know Sans goalie has never shot the puck in the net. The only goal credited to a senator is Damen Rhodess when he made a save and then they passed it back to the point and it missed. went all the way in. But has a a goalie ever scored against Ottawa in the Canadian Tire Center? I’d love to know the answer to that. And we’ll take a look at what Travis Green had to say after this game up next where he mentioned the power play and what he thinks needs to be done to solve this just horrific stretch. We’ll get to that next. You’re listening to the Postcast Unlocked on Senators. This episode is also brought to you by our friends over at Monarch. I’m even more upset now because while you were so eloquently telling us about our friends over at Monarch, I took a look around the NHL and I happened to notice that the Edmonton Oilers were up 4 nothing on the Winnipeg Jets and the shots were 16-3. Huh. A team that heavily outshot their opponents and found a way to score four goals in the process. Wouldn’t that have been nice tonight? And Ross, the Edmonton Oilers, that’s a team that needs to outscore their problems because their goalending is almost as bad as the Ottawa Senters has been for most of the years. Some would argue even worse. So, yeah, that’s tough. And the Winnipeg Jets also not playing their starter. I don’t know if it was Comry or who it was, but that’s uh that’s a backup goalie either way in there, and they’re able to jump all over that. So, disappointing to see. Yes, it is. Our good friend Julie McKenzie was in conversation with Travis Green talking about the sends offense. The quote, “I don’t think it’s complicated. We’ve liked our game. We lost two home games. Got to find a way to score. We’ve got to bear down around the net and our power play has to be better. I don’t think it’s that complicated.” Well, Travis, look, I I agree to all those things. They need to be better around the net. They were a lot around the perimeter tonight, especially on the power play. But if it’s not that complicated, maybe it wouldn’t be such a trend for such a long time. No. Yeah. I mean, that’s fair. And when you have a quote and it starts with, I don’t think it’s that complicated and ends with, I don’t think that it’s that complicated, why haven’t we figured it out then? If it’s not that complicated. Yeah. Senators are now uh seven for their last 53 power plays. and like they scored two power play goals against the Rangers, but they did it in a game where they just didn’t score any other way. So, you need to have all systems go and all of a sudden like this is going to be a really angry New Jersey Devils team coming to town. They lost 4-1 tonight to the Boston Bruins. They’re a team that is playing well below what the expectations were for themselves going into this season. And obviously, they’ve got key injuries as well. They’re above 500, but their fan base is very, very prickly with the way they’ve been playing of late. So, it’s not going to get any easier tonight. This felt like the one on the home stand that you had to have. And now Ottawa’s going to be in a situation where you really have to have it against the New Jersey Devils because the fans who stayed up late and watched this team at all sorts of stupid times across that road trip, they bought their tickets to these two games and they haven’t seen their team lead. they haven’t seen their team come out and score first. They just really frustrating. And that’s going to be the theme of this conversation is just as a fan watching this on TV, it was extremely um you know, you’re almost like hoping but at the same time reserved to the fact that they’re probably not going to get it done. And that’s a pretty sad state of affairs where the expectation is when they’re down a goal with six minutes left that it’s like, h yeah, they probably won’t get that tying goal. I I thought they were going to do it this time. I got I got to be honest, they had the pressure on. I thought they were going to find a way to at least tie it here, but they’re not able to. And I don’t know, people in the chat let us know. It sounded like the fans at the CTC were booing at the end of the game, which I don’t fully blame them for, especially if you had gone. Like, if you were watching this road trip, like if you live in Ottawa, you have season tickets or whatever, you’re going on the Glee Central Pub shuttle and you’re like, I’m so excited for them to come home off a big win in Montreal. You go to the New York game, you’re like, okay, that sucks. Let’s get a big win up against a terrible St. Louis Blues team. And then this is what you saw tonight. If you were at both those games, booze are probably justified. Yeah, booze are justified. But the great part about the NHL is that you get another opportunity here in two days time. But I really wanted a victory Sunday, buddy. I really wanted it. We ain’t getting it. We’re getting the exact opposite. Yeah, I’m I’m wearing my Christmas shirt hoping to be jolly, Ross. I got I got the Christmas blues instead. No. Jolly St. Pillsy, no more. Not tonight. And doesn’t it feel like sends never score with the goalie out as well? Yeah, I think um we were looking at this stat and it’s not that often. Um I I’ll try to get LOSP stats on this stats department’s working on it. Yeah. Yeah. Maybe tell a tell a quick story while I try to Well, I’ll just say like because the chat’s pointing out, look, the Sense had 41 shots. Yeah, that’s great. Okay. Okay. High high danger shot attempts in tonight’s game were 85 for Ottawa. So they had a lot of shots, but how many of them were really high danger looks? Oh, wait. That’s goals against. All right, let’s pivot. Goals for I’m going to get it here, though. Trust me. You’re working on it. Thank you. Thank you, dude. So, the Ottawa Senators are 11th in the league with two goals for six on five. Um, okay. The highest in the league is the Kings with five. So, it’s I guess it’s not as bad as we we thought as there’s a number of teams with zero. Now, this doesn’t tell me attempts here, but Right. Yeah. PY, where’s your panic button at? I’m looking at it. Are you? No. No. Don’t grab it yet. But I’m not grabbing it. But to answer the question, it is sitting on my desk. Okay. The Hello Darkness, My Old Friend song is playing. I’m not thinking about pressing it, but it’s just sad, Ross, that I haven’t been able to put it away. A couple weeks ago on this road trip, Ross, you and I said to each other, “Man, how great is it to be this confident in this team here?” That that was without Brad Kachchuck or Tom Schmott in the lineup. Like, we didn’t think things were going to get worse here. Now, Tom Schmott obviously not back and Shane Pinto uh and Lars Zeller are two guys that are now not here, but Well, darn it. We didn’t even touch on that cuz Saturday morning news Shane Pinto had at least two weeks. Yeah. At least. Yeah. Now, luckily the good part of that is no surgery. So, that’s good. But great two weeks is tough here as this is going to be a a big stretch for the SS with the teams that they have coming up here. Did you ever press the panic button last season? Oh, yeah. After the Vancouver game first. No. Nope. Nope. I have. I have a picture of me millimeters away from pressing it. I will I will upload it here for you, Ross, to show the people. But I did not press the panic button. And I was told I was a fool for not pressing it. And they made it to the playoffs. Okay, there it is. I was so close. And you can tell it’s November. I got the greasy mustache. I was so close to pressing it. I did not press it. I had people in the chat being like, “Pilly, you’re an idiot. Just press it. You got to smash it.” We were having our therapy session with Kyle from Locked On Conucks, and I said, “Nope, I I can’t do it. I’m not panicking yet.” I was clo I was almost going to press the panic button, ironically, when the Sands lost that terrible game to the St. Louis Blues in the preseason. I was close to pressing it there. Yeah. You know what the good news is? No more St. Louis Blues. Yeah. Oh my god. Another series. No. No more LA Kings. No more St. Louis Blues. That’s it. Those two. Yeah. Those two teams that took four out of four against the Ottawa Senators this season. So, they need better efforts against Western Conference teams. But that’s the only kind of silver lining that we’ll say in this game is that if you’re going to lose, allow them to be to these Western Conference teams and save some wins in regulation uh for the games that are ahead against Detroit, against Toronto, against uh Buffalo. Please beat Buffalo, please. Uh and obviously Montreal, who Ottawa got the win against the other day. Uh Psey, any final thoughts on tonight’s postcast after a 2-1 loss? Final thoughts is I I’ll try to shed some positivity. Ross, the Belleville Senators got a win today up against the Laval Rockets, so that’s nice. We said we wanted them to get uh two points at least, so they did that. But I’m not able to spin much positivity here. I mean, I guess one thing we didn’t mention, Ross, that I feel like deserves to be mentioned, Fabian Zetland with another goal tonight. So, it’s good that he’s really keeping this hot streak going and he’s found his offensive touch and is producing now. But, I mean, it seems like not even worth mentioning much when it’s a 2-1 loss here. Yeah, I would say so. And, uh, Steven Halliday with an assist, primary assist for him. So, that was nice to see. He kind of bounced around on a couple different lines tonight. Played a minute and 40 actually with Stutzel and Zetterland. And it was 4 to one shot attempts for them. He actually got a great shift with them right after the tying goal where they put him back out at five on five and I thought Holiday looked good. So that’s another good thing to take in the right direction. But man, Tuesday’s game just got pretty pretty big. Uh we’ll see what happens between now and then in terms of any roster moves or what because you could tell when they panned up to the box with Steve Stos, Dave Puland, and Shawn Tierney, they were not in a good mood. It didn’t seem like in the third period and I don’t blame them for that at all. Yeah, I think we’re going to open up the conversation. I know the chat is going crazy about KV being an option here. I think we’re going to score tonight. Uh I don’t know. I mean I assume so. I haven’t checked the box score to be honest. I just saw the feels he got the game winner. Oh, hell yeah. Captain U. We’re going to open up that conversation on Monday’s episode of Locked on Centers podcast. So, okay. Yeah, we will do that. And it was Jory and Donovan, Philip Dau, and Garrett Elon, and Scott Harrington that scored. So, no points for Arthur Calv. Maybe quiet quitting after not getting the call up instead of Hayden Hodgeg. Just kidding. But, uh, first time in a long time that we haven’t had Cali get any points. He had a team high four shots on goal, though. Uh, my final thoughts. Thought it was really cool. Look, I’m I’m not a huge fan of the ring the bell thing. I think it’s a bit corny, but if you are going to do it, have great causes for it. and uh PWHL Ottawa Charge coach Carla Mloud uh just announced recently that she’s going through breast cancer treatment. Uh she said, “Hey, everything’s going to be all right.” Got caught early. We’re going to be all right. But really cool to see her with her whole team there to support her and have her ring the bell wearing the hockey fights cancer jersey. So, uh really um important moment in Ottawa tonight. Yeah, that’s awesome. And that’s especially awesome, Ross, because it’s it’s common practice for um you know, cancer survivors to to ring that bell as like a emphatic moment. So, that’s super cool. Yeah, no doubt. Uh hopefully the Senators can get two points on the board on Tuesday. Plenty of time between now and then to break this down on Monday’s locked on. Senators got great news coming on Monday, too. Uh new initiative from Locked on Podcast Network, and we’re really looking forward to announcing what that is. For all the people that are like, “LOSSP is on my top Spotify rap, top YouTube rap, keep that. You’re you’re gonna like the news that we’re uh coming out with.” If if you’re like, “I can’t get enough.” We got good news for you. Yeah. Big time. And keep those slips showing where your Spotify raps are as well. Okay. For Brandon Pillar, I’m Ross Levitan. 1. I was out tonight watching this garbage hockey game. Probably for the best I wasn't in chat for this postcast definitely wasn't in the mood lol. But listen I know we have injuries with Pinto, Eller & Chabot but that should be no excuse for losing this game. So many shots on net so many PP opportunities can't capatalize on any of them except for the last one of course where it's late in the game. Sens need to figure it out this was an embarassing loss for them and we drop in the standings cause of it.

  2. Special teams being atrocious, will make them miss the playoffs.

Team can’t finish and are playing on their heels when defending. Team needs a different coach at this point, Green won’t get you very far with his systems…

  3. That game against the Blues was close although repeated shots on goal, over 40 if I’m not mistaken, weren’t enough to beat a not-great team. I have to wonder if the make up of this Sens roster is too much like that of the Canucks.

  4. Often the problem with a defensively oriented coach is that the offense gets stifled. The sens should be able to score more with the forwards they have, but something is preventing it. They need to go on a run soon or they'll be out of the playoff picture by Christmas 😢. Green should also have the penalty kill performing better if his specialty is defense.

  5. I didn't heat any boos in the building

Even before he got his (slick) assist, i mentioned how great The Disher was looking tonight. Was super cool to see him getting shifts late in the game. He seems to be getting more comfortable by the day

Last year's Canucks postcast was the worst. Between Martian being loaded and the Vancouver dude rubbing it in, i had to tap out about halfway through. Glad I didn't miss any panic button action!

  6. Guys, I have to stop you right there! Do not blame Dillon for his antics when there was seven seconds left in the game! The game was lost we could not score and his actions were not the result of anything. Do not say that Dillon lost his cool. The game was over. End of discussion.

  7. What are you talking about? There was seven seconds left. Come on.

Never mind, I’m done with this post cast. I disagree wholeheartedly with your assessment of where the game was lost. Hyper focussing on seven seconds.

  8. Are we ready to admit this simply isn’t a very good team? It’s ok. It’s decent sometimes. But more often than not they simply aren’t good enough. Maybe, MAYBE a fringe wildcard team on a good day. We have to be honest, they are so, so far away from any of the top ten teams in the league.

My one positive: Stephen Halliday looks like he might be a good lad.

  9. Shut it off after the 3rd period scrum. Sum up this game: Stützle, 3rd period, puck possession with the puck in the slot, shoots it to safety in the corner. SMH
