This is the WORST Situation in the NBA

Yo, what’s going on y’all? It’s Con and the Pelicans are a complete and utter disaster on pace to be one of the worst teams ever and have one of the bleakest futures out of anybody in the NBA. It’s a lot, but that’s just kind of the situation they are in right now. They are terrible. And it’s crazy because six years ago, they not only trade away Anthony Davis and get all these players and picks back and it’s like, wow, they got a haul for AD even though they had to give up, you know, one of the best players in the sport. They also get the number one overall pick for Zion Williamson. It’s called the Zion Williamson draft. Like, do you remember how much Zion was being hyped up? And it’s like, hey, he could be this Hall of Fame talent if he stays on the court. And listen, it’s not the Pelicans fault he’s been so injuryprone. Although, maybe it is a little bit because nobody on this in this franchise can stay healthy. Maybe the training staff has cursed the franchise or the building Smoothie King Center. I don’t know. Something is really off about the Pelicans and being able to keep people healthy. But regardless, Zion’s not really panning out the way that he was supposed to. They’ve made some very questionable decisions. But even like as as recent as three years ago, we’re talking about a team that has been in the playoffs a couple of times that had Brandon Ingram as a most improved player, all-star caliber guy in Zion as an all-star AllNBA. They trade for CJ McCullum. There was a really bright future here as racing as a few years ago. And now that is all gone. They are 3 and2 on the season. They have one of the worst net ratings of all time and they’re a pace for 10 wins. In fact, they’ve got the same winning percentage right now as the 1948 Providence Steamrollers. Have you ever heard of them? Me neither. And it’s probably for good reason if they were that bad. They also have the same net rating, -10.9, as the aforementioned Providence Steamrollers. I don’t think you even want to be in company once with the Providence Steamrollers, never mind twice to the point where you’re just the 2026 Providence Steam Rollers. That is that is a disastrous sentence that you have to be included in. And this is a Pelicans team that banked on being good this year. Do you want to know how I know? They traded their own first round pick. We are not just talking about a team that is on pace for 10 wins, that is 3 and 21 right now, that got blown out by the Brooklyn Nets today. We are talking about a team that has all of that going on and doesn’t have a first round pick to show for it. They’ve got the number one odds right now in this year’s draft. A draft that includes a Bansza, Darren Peterson, Cam Boozer, all three of whom sound like they’re going to be game, you know, franchise changing talents. They are being talked up as one of the best big threes at the top of a draft we have seen in a really long time. The Pelicans aren’t going to get to partake in that because the decision they made was that, hey, remember how last year we were terrible and how our franchise player can’t physically stay on the court? Uh, there’s definitely good reasons to trade away our own first round pick to the Atlanta Hawks to move up like 10 spots on the draft. And listen, Derrick Queen’s been fine. They moved up to select Derrick Queen dealing their pick away to the Atlanta Hawks. Derrick Queen has shown some really, really bright flashes. Uh, 12 points a night, six and a half boards, 3.6 assists. He had like a 39-4 game against the Nuggets, 27-11 against the Mavericks. Dererick Queen, this is not a video to slander Derrick Queen. I actually really like his game and I think he could be really good in the league. Same thing with like Jeremiah Fears, who they got with the seventh overall pick in this past year’s draft. He’s also been really fun with 16 a night, 3.4 rebounds, three assists, one and a half steals. He shot 36% from three, which was a concern surrounding him coming into the NBA. I think those two could definitely be pieces of the future. The only issue is they cannot add anybody to those guys because they don’t have their own first overall pick. Imagine if they had their pick and they grab one of the top three spots and they add one of those players to these two guys. Wow, we’re talking about this insanely, you know, promising young core that they’ve got over here in New Orleans. Instead, there’s nothing going on. I refuse to believe that they had to give up that asset to get Derrick Queen. I just don’t believe it. And if you did, I don’t think it was worth it. Maybe the pick falls at number five and you it doesn’t matter. But to give up an asset of that much value to move up to that spot and delusionally think you were going to be good is actually mind-blowing. And it’s one of the many things on a long list of decisions that has just been baffling from the Pelicans for years at this point. Really over the last couple of seasons. They’ve just made the wrong move left and right. Why did they trade for Deontay Murray? I didn’t like that trade immediately the second it happened. I didn’t like the first Deontay Murray trade when he was dealt to the Atlanta Hawks. I immediately was on record saying, you know, I’m going to be optimistic for them, but I don’t think this is good because I didn’t like the fit of Dejonte next to Trey Young. And yeah, the Hawks regretted it 100%. And then the Pelicans saw that situation and said, oh, remember that trade that went terribly for the Hawks? What if we trade for that same guy and give up Dyson Daniels, one of our most promising young players, and then, you know, oh sure, whatever. He’s going to turn into, I don’t know, one of the best guard defenders in the league and, you know, top three decoy voting in a steel and deflection machine. Who cares? We got Deontay Murray. And listen, like it doesn’t even matter if he tore Achilles or not. He was not playing as good as you needed him to to justify that trade. And now he’s got no trade value. Absolutely none when he really should not have had much at all from the Hawks in the first place. I I don’t know how the Hawks were able to recoup assets from the first disastrous Jonte Murray trade and now a second one happened. But yeah, the the Jonte Murray thing, weird decision, bad decision. And then we move on to like this off seasonason where they trade away CJ McCollum for for Jordan Pool who yeah is younger and had a nice bounceback season last year but CJ McCollum was just better last season and I feel like like maybe you get I don’t know maybe some draft capital back for CJ McCollum as anybody offering something up like that. No, no, they’re they’re not. Oh, and Jordan Pull is just going to go ahead and again be, you know, really bad this season and go from a bounceback year to an awful season and now he’s injured. Okay, cool. So all his trade value is gone again. Okay, cool. Awesome. Way to blow it. Like like what are you doing? That that one came out of literally nowhere. And then why did they sign Kavon Looney this off seasonason today? He got a a DMP coach’s decision against the Brooklyn Nets. Why was that their signing when they brought in Derrick Queen? You traded your first overall pick or first round pick might be the first overall pick to move up and get Derrick Queen when you already had Eve Mei. Why are you using like your only money in free agency for Cavon Looney? It doesn’t make any sense whatsoever. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention uh remember that affforementioned 23rd overall pick that the Pelicans uh used attached to their own first round pick this year to move up and get Dar Queen from the Atlanta Hawks. Uh that 23rd overall pick came to them in a trade on June 17th, 5 days before game seven of the NBA Finals when they went ahead and got it from the Pacers, giving up the Pacers 2026 first round pick back. The Pelicans had the Pacers pick this year and they gave it back to them. Now, they couldn’t have known that Halbert was going to tear Achilles. They’re probably like, “Oh, the Pacers are going to be really good next season, but let’s just go ahead and give them their pickback.” But like, you you couldn’t have waited. If they literally waited 5 days, this whole horrific sequence of events could have been avoided. But they’re like, “No, we got to hurry up and ruin our franchise.” It’s just impressive levels of like reverse foresight. It’s crazy that in the span of 5 days, they did that and then also went ahead and gave away their own pick this year to move up and grab Derk Queen. And again, this is not against Derek Queen. He is a fine young player. I’m excited to see how he can go and I hope he turns out really good and makes all this just completely null and void, all this pick talk. But it is just a long list of horrific decisions that the Pelicans have made again and again. They got nothing back from Brandon Ingram at last year’s deadline. Absolutely nothing of note. And listen, all of this might even be fine if they just had any value in their top players, which they absolutely do not. Zion Williamson, I don’t think he has any value. I think someone would consider trading for him. There have been rumors about the Chicago Bulls, although it’s from, you know, not the most reliable sources, but it does feel like a move Chicago could make. Maybe you get a first round pick back for him. Even then, I think that’s extreme because he just doesn’t stay on the court and even when he was, he was not that great this season or not up to the Zion standards that are worth taking a shot on him. Then you’ve got like Trey Murphy, who is a really intriguing young player, but you’re not getting the two first round picks you keep asking for for him because he’s on a decent contract and you have literally no leverage. And also, he has injury issues of his own. Herb Jones has dealt with injury issues and he’s this amazing defender, knockdown shooter. He’s the guy where it’s like, yeah, you can definitely get something back for him, but he can’t stay on the court and it feels like they have found a way to continuously squander and let the value slip away from Trey Murphy, from Zion, from Herb Jones, anybody at all like Deonte. He’s got no value because of the Achilles injury. They really don’t have guys that they can flip for real assets. I think they could get something back from Herb and Trey and like maybe Zion, but that’s about it. And we’re talking about a team that, you know, luckily still has their first round picks going forward, like they’re not completely screwed beyond this season. But between being unable to jump start a rebuild, not having your pick this year, and like, yeah, fears and Derek Queen are exciting, but it’s still their rookie seasons. We don’t know how good they’re going to be. The Pelicans feel years away from being anything resembling competitive in this Western Conference. And it’s reached the point where if you watch their games on TV, there’s nobody in the stands. There is nobody going to the games. It is like literally free tickets. And it’s cool that, you know, tickets are cheap, but it’s not good that there’s no fans in attendance and that’s the reason why. And now people in the timeline are saying, “Could the Pelicans get relocated?” And I’m not saying they will. I definitely don’t want them to, but is there a world where this team is in such a gutter in the next few years when the NBA is considering expansion? And they’re like, “What if we just relocate the Pelicans instead?” I I don’t think it’s impossible. And again, I’m really hoping that is not the case. I absolutely do not want to see that. But that is the level of the Pelicans could be in this dark hole for so long that we’ve reached. And it’s crazy again six years ago they got Zion Williamson in the Zion Williamson draft. They trade away AD. They got all these assets. It’s honestly like a cautionary lesson and how quickly you can just squander everything in the NBA. Bad decisions, injuries, stuff out of your control. Things can change so fast and it’s all result in the Pelicans being in probably the worst situation in the NBA. The Clippers are also up there. Like they don’t own their own pick and they owe future picks and stuff. Like I’d probably say it is the Los Angeles Clippers, but outside of them, it’s probably the New Orleans Pelicans, which really sucks. Um, yeah, those are my thoughts on New Orleans. That’s my my rant. I guess I went a little bit longer and a little bit harder than I meant to, I think, at points, but it’s fine. It’s just the way things have been going for the Pelicans so far. I really hope they find some way out of this. And I’m really rooting for Jeremiah Fears and especially Dererick Queen to go ahead and prove, you know, the takes about the pick wrong. But it’s it was just a terrible asset to give up. there had have been another way. Uh let’s talk about the rest of the games in the NBA. I’ll kind of fly through them because there wasn’t too much to talk about today. Uh like we had uh the Timberwolves beating the Clippers 109 to 106. Another loss for the Clippers who are now below the Brooklyn Nets in the NBA standings. Uh you know, they’ve now got a top four odds to give the Thunder the number one overall pick, which is a Thunder fan I’m super stoked about. Like they led by as much as 18. They were holding up in this game and then they just completely blew it and the Wolves take over down the stretch to win. James Harden had a shot to go ahead and send this game to overtime, but he misses. Julius Randle had 243 and six, 345 and six from James Harden played better in this game. 20 from Kawhi Leonard, 15 and 13 from Zoo. Uh, but it’s just another moment where they can’t really stop anything when the time really matters. Uh, we saw the Warriors beat the Cleveland Cavaliers. Pat Spencer said he’s that guy. He might be that guy. 194 and seven form in this game. And again, I keep talking about how I’m worried about the Cleveland Cavaliers. This is one you really don’t want to lose at home against the Warriors who like have been playing really well even without Steph Curry. But it was also no Steph Curry, no Draymond Green, no Jimmy Butler for even a moment in this one. They started Pat Spencer, Buddy Heel, Quinton Post, Jonathan Kuminga, and Will Richard. And you got one of 10 from Kuminga and five of 14 from Quinton Post. They put 94 points up on the Warriors defense without Draymond Green. The offense does not look like itself. Sure, they’re missing like Lonzo Ball and Jared Allen, but you had Garland, you had Mitchell, you had Mobley, you had Hunter, you had Jaylen Tyson. This should not be as difficult of a a process as it is. They shot 24% from three, 23.8 even. And seven out of the 10 threes they hit were Donovan Mitchell. He’s been the only guy that’s probably impressed me outside of like Jaylen Tyson almost this entire season. I have gone from worried to very worried about the Cleveland Cavaliers. And every other game was a blowout. Uh Jaylen Johnson 312 and 12 triple double. I talked about it yesterday. All-Star lock AllNBA. You could probably start to pencil his name in there. For the Wizards, affformentioned CJ McCullum with 28 points. Shout out to him. The Pistons beat the Bucks 124 to 112. Another good game from Cade. 236 and 12 on his end. 16- 16 from Jaylen Duran. Continuing to build up his all-star case. Javvante Green still giving 13 in the big 2025. Three threes from Isaiah Stewart. Kent Borter Jr. put up 32,4 and six on seven of nine shooting from three. He’s done a pretty good job for the Bucks as of late. Ryan Rollins was a bit of a struggle for him. And then yeah, just without Giannis, they really didn’t stand much of a chance against this Pistons team. The Kings beat the Heat 127 to 111. Zack Lavine goes crazy. 42 points just frying Miami left and right. He also hit eight threes trying to build up that trade value. Maybe they can get something back for him. 16 from Keegan Murray, 15 from Nick Clifford. One of his better games of his rookie season. And for Miami, it’s just been kind of ups and downs as of late. 20 from Simone Fontio, 27 from Himeme Hakez. Uh, you got 18 from Norman Pal. Tyler Herro did not play in this game. Yeah, it’s Don Mitchell either. They could have used definitely some of his defense that he brings to the table against the Kings, but they kind of just got fried by a really hot shooter. The offense has just not been as dynamic as of late as it was at one point. I’ve seen some Heat fans blame Tyler Herro, but he’s not even in this game and just doesn’t look good against an abysmal defense over in Sacramento. And then finally, the Mavericks blow out the Houston Rockets. Anthony Davis bounces back in a big way from the game against the Thunder where he was really bad. 2982 and2 on 14 of 19 shooting, 20 from Brandon Williams, 19 from Cooper Flag who is definitely OD video. I keep saying it but I remind me I’ve got to give him one. 19532 and two on his end. No Alpron Shenun, no Steven Adams, both of whom they really missed in this game. Uh 27 from Kevin Durant, 22 from Jabari Smith, 19 from Aaron Holiday. They got some decent scoring but overall they just didn’t look the part of the defense that they’ve been. But the Mavericks offense has been improving quite a bit recently except when they went up against OKC, which is just maybe the best defense ever. So against like normal defenses, uh they’ve been pretty decent as of late. But yeah, that’s every game from the NBA today. Let me know your thoughts down below on these games, your takeaways, but specifically your thoughts on the New Orleans Pelicans and the situation that they’ve put themselves in. Do you think there is a bright future still here with Jeremiah Fears, Derek Queen? Could they keep like a Herb Jones or a Trey Murphy and try and figure this thing out? Is there still something here or do they need to go ahead and blow it up? just say, “Hey, it’s over. Recoop some assets.” Stuff like that. Um, but yeah, appreciate you watching. I’ll see you all later. Real one. Say back.

The New Orleans Pelicans are the NBA’s biggest disaster with Zion Williamson injured again, a 3-21 record, no first round pick, and declining trade value for some of their guys. The Pelicans have reached a new rock bottom and the future is dim for a team that had such a bright future when they dealt Anthony Davis to the Los Angeles Lakers back in 2019.

  1. NOLA need to be a play-in team/playoff team in order for the trade not to look bad. But only NOLA’s front office believe they were a playoff team this season.

  2. Not a hot take, but if availability is the best ability, then they need to stop giving max contracts to injury prone players.

  3. Sure this season is bad but "worst situation in the NBA" is just nonsense. If Mikal and Bane can go for 9 frp combined then I'm sure Herb and Trey will draw a similar package. Pels also own Bucks 2027 frp and traded the swap rights for Bucks 2026 frp in addition to our own frp to Hawks. which means thereis a possibility of getting our 2026 FRP back as part of a Giannis trade. Zion's value is also interesting as well since his deal is non-guranteed. Anybody willing to offload a bad contract could simply trade for Zion and just waive him before July 15th 2026 and not be on the hook for the money. Definitely not the outcome we wanted considering our potential, BUT there is light at the end of the tunnel.

  4. The Pelicans are cooked, but their situation is still not as bad as the Clipper's. They at least have young players with some potential and more future 1st round picks.

Still, I highly doubt they manage the turnaround with Dumars at the helm.

  5. best big 3 we've seen in a draft class in a very long time? 🤔

….allow me to remind u that just a few drafts ago there was the big 3 of Paolo Banchero, Chet Holmgren, and Jabari Smith Jr. haha.

  6. Pelicans need to move on from Zion he’s injury prone yeah we all get it when’s he’s on the court he’s a beast the thing is that’s when he’s on the court lmao it’s not looking any better might be over hyped of a player people were also saying he was going to be the next LeBron 😂 stop the 🧢

  7. Murray is a really good player, but they totally overpaid for him. Then tearing his Achilles, which is the worst injury to endure. Along with him and Zion, it seems like Trey and Herb Williams are never healthy either.

  8. This is what happens when you hire a relic as GM with no due diligence.A lazy hire. And the idiot makes trades that make no sense. He should be fired. He for not having the foresight to see this that this team has done nothing in the past six years and you double down on this monstrosity of a team.FIRE DUMARS!
