NS9 Feud Begins: Doug vs Nate in Absolute Pittsburgh Pirates Chaos

Welcome back to the Northshore 9 YouTube channel. Today we are doing something a little different. We’re playing a little head-to-head family feud. I’ll be asking our contestants four questions with top five answers. If you guess the top answer, you’ll receive five points. If you give me the number five answer, you’ll receive one point. You’ll also receive three strikes per round. After that, you’re out until the next question I ask. Highest score wins. And today I’m joined by none other than Nathan Osler and our very own Douggee Fresh. How we doing, fellas? Pretty good. How are we good? How are you guys doing? I’m all right. Doug, how are you? I’m f I’m fantastic. I’m ready to play the feud. Although I watched a lot of Family Feud when I was young and Richard Dawson was tried to kiss on anybody. So if you try to kiss on me, Cody, you know, I’m not ready. I’m not prepared. No. No. I grew up with Steve Harvey. So I’m just going to give you a look of disbelief when you say Okay. Yeah. Well, I’ll earn those, right? All right, folks. Well, another added twist to this is that I surveyed the biggest sickos in the world, and that is our NS9 Discord channel. So, we have a couple of these questions that are based in fact, so you know, top five this or that. But then we also have uh some answers from our NS9 Discord. And if if you’re a part of the Discord and you filled out the survey, I thank you. If you didn’t, why not? So, yeah. Shout out to They’re like us. The sickos are they’re they’re just like us watching intensely, miserable every second of it, right? Yeah. Somehow can’t pick up the remote and and turn it off, right? And shut it off. So, those questions are going to be their opinions. So, you got to get a little bit into their heads to figure out what they would say to these questions. So, I can hardly wait. Are we ready to play the feud, fellas? Absolutely. Oh, did we just get a copy? Doug’s Doug’s gonna get us hit with a Sorry. Sorry. Question number one. This is I asked our NS9 Discord, just name me a Pirates Hall of Famer. So, who’s going to go first? Should we do age before beauty or stash before no stash? No, you got to honor the stash. Have to honor the stash. I guess honor. I guess Nathan’s first. Um, give me Clemente. All right, Clemente is number one on the board. Nathan off to a hot start with five points. We’ll go over to Doug for his guess. I don’t care how many points I get for this. Dave the Cobra Parker. My guy. Dave Parker. You get two points, Doug. Good enough. Only Only uh 9% of our Discord thought about him. Young bastards. All right, Nathan. It can’t go young anymore. It’s all old-timers now. Give me Willie Stargel. Question number two, name the last five number one overall draft picks by the Pittsburgh Pirates. So, how do you I mean, you want, you know, last year’s pick or do you want it, you know what I’m saying? The most recent or Yeah. Like, how’s this work? The last five. So, yeah, the most recent recent last five. The last five number one overall picks. Yes. But if I just if I give you the third I don’t know how I get points for this, but I’m just The number one answer this recent the most recent one. Yeah. The most recent one is Alex. No, that’s that’s a that’s a strike. Oh, it’s Seth. Oh, man. Yeah. H I got Also, he wasn’t number one overall. Oh, number one overall pitch for the past. I said over Nate. Nate, did I not say number one? Say number one. You did. You did. I blew. Okay. Well, that’s okay. All right. Well, well, that changes it all up. Doug blew it. That’s okay. He doesn’t know the rest. He knows one of them. I know. You know, maybe two. And how about how about this? I will make an amendment though because you kind of brought up a good point or at least that’s how I read it but you read it a completely other way. Uh if you get the oldest number one overall pick that’s five points. Okay. Oh okay. If you get the most recent that’s one point cuz that’s in recent memory. All right. I’m ready cuz I know who the oldest one is. Are you sure? Cuz I don’t think you do. Yes I am. Yes I am. All right. All right. Well, you already got a strike, Doug, Nate. It’s up to you. Um, I’m going to get went to Arkansas. I’m going to take Henry Davis off the board. All right. Davis is off the board. You get two point or I gota go backwards. Yeah, you get two points for that one. I will take Jeff King, third baseman from Arkansas. I knew I knew you were going to take Jeff King. And you’re wrong. That’s two strikes. He’s right outside it. He’s right outside it. Outside of what? Oh, you just outside of the last time. He’s number five since then. Okay. Oh, you think we Oh, okay. I should have went with Yep. I’ll just take I was going to say you should have went with the easy ones, Doug. Good job, Dave. I’ll just take Now we’re to the harder one. Give me Chris Benson. Chris Benson. There’s your five points, Doug. Congrats. Yeah, I did that. So, I want to try to get some points. I don’t think he was drafted by the Pirates number one, but I’m gonna take Marco Pel. That’s not That’s not That’s a strike. That’s a strike, pal. Well, I’ll have to take Garrett Cole. I can’t remember the other guy’s last name. I can remember what it starts with. I can remember his first name. Oh, now I remember. Okay, now I remember. Doug’s got Cole. Not going to lie, Doug can take this round. And I I was going to say, Nate, I don’t think you’re going to get this one. I have no clue with this. It’s Brian Bullington. Ding, ding, ding. Doug gets it and takes the round. Even though I was didn’t didn’t understand the question. Didn’t Alex Hernandez, my new favorite pirate, Alex Hernandez. Right now, I’d put him in the lineup, right? He He’s fictional and I’d put him in the lineup and get better production, right? He doesn’t exist. They’d have a war of plus two after after two rounds. Nathan, you’ve you’ve lost your lead. Doug is leading now 19 to 11. A little bit little bit of choking over there. What’s up with that, Nathan? What What are we thinking? You don’t know Pirates draft picks? See, I I’m not big into the draft history, so I was like trying to play it, try to get some cheap points and hopefully Doug was going to miss them. And yeah, that did not work in my favor. Hey, you had the strategy. Doug. Doug was off to a hot start with two strikes. That’s why I took Henry Davis first. I at least wanted some value. I wanted two points at least. Hey, you played it the right way. But the old man’s older and wiser until this next question. We will go we will go to this next question right now. It is. Name a Pittsburgh Pirate with the worst WRC plus in 2025 with at least 350 played appearances. Golly. Yeah, I know. It’s a tough one. I It’s a tough one. WRC plus. Okay, who’s going first? Your turn. Um, it’s your turn since you’re uh you’re losing. Um, I’ll just take Brian Reynolds. All right, Brian Reynolds. not on that list. That’s a strike. 350 at bats. So that that kind of I’m gonna say Jared Triolo. Jared Triolo is on that list. Doug, he is the number five answer. So you only get one point. No. Brian Reynolds. That’s kind of surprising. I think he was right outside this uh the threshold here. I’m trying to think of guys who had it bad. That’s what it like 350. They had to at least have 350. Oh, shoot. Okay, I’m ready. Um, I’m gonna go with I think Tommy Fam had that many at bats, so I’ll take Fam. Tommy Fam is not on this list. This is wild. Wild. Henry Davis. Henry Davis not on the list. So, wait, hold on. We’re going a little quick here. Nate has two strikes. This is wild stuff, Doug. This is your first good answer. Good answer. I I mean, I waited that long to do that. That’s terrible. Oh jeez. All right, Nate, you have two strikes on you. I’m more surprised Brian Reynolds did not make the top five worst list. He’s not recover. All right. Oh, like I’m trying to think of the only other player that would have had that much that had a really bad year. And like I don’t want to say it’s Cruz, but I think it’s Cruz. Yeah, that’s what I’ve been answer. Is that I’ll take O’Neal Cruz. So Facebook answer. You get two points for O’Neal Cruz. He’s only worth two. He was fourth on the list. There’s three worse than O’Neal Cruz. Isaiah Ker Fa. Ding ding ding. That is the second best answer you could have had. Nice. That’s four points awarded to Doug. Nate, I forgot he was there almost all year. Um, this guy definitely did not get 350 at bats, so I’m not going to say him. Um, I already guessed strategy. I already guessed Fam, and he’s not on there, surprisingly, along with Reynolds. Um, I don’t think this he had enough of maybe Nick Gonzalez. I’ll go him. Nick Gonzalez. That was my next pick. Damn it. That’s three points. I was worried about that injury. I didn’t know if he had enough plate appearances. You guys for the round, you guys are tied at five. Oh jeez. So now just we just need the number one answer. And oh, so it’s pretty I think it’s an easy answer, but there’s a little, you know, there’s a little hiccup here that might get you, but I don’t think it will. If you’re, you know, I’m just going to take a shot. I I don’t think Sinsky got the at bats, but I’m gonna say Sinsky. Yeah, I’m going with Jack. That’s another strike to you, Doug. That’s two strikes. Two strikes. He did not have the at bats. Who else had the 350 at bats? Beat him. I I don’t want to say a certain player I’m thinking of because I don’t think he had. No, I was thinking of a guy that There’s no way he got the badge. He was on the roster the whole year. It stretches without ever getting that. That’s what I’m saying, Doug. Like, I think I’m thinking the same guy as you, but like he disappeared for months at a time. Right. So, the list is Triolo, Gonzalez, and Cruz. That’s all we got so far. You guys have gotten Triolo, Gonzalez, Cruz, and I You’re looking for the top answer in this category. Oh jeez. The worst hitter. Oh no. Oh no. The worst one. The worst one. So bad he might not even be on the team anymore. Oh no. Is it Brian Hayes? It is Brian Hayes. See, I was worried until you said that be until you that hint. I wasn’t going to say Hayes, but then I was like I think they’re they are counting him off of the pirates, too. Um, I think the name I also think the name Doug and I were also wanting to say was Canario. Canario Canario was terrible, but he didn’t have he and then not play for three weeks. This was that was my biggest complaint about him, Doug, is that it didn’t give him enough at bats to prove himself even if he on the roster play once in a while. Do you remember when um uh Kelly took took over the first time Canario was popping off? Yeah. Then he kind of came. I felt I felt vindicated. I was like, see a great thing. But all right, so after that, Doug, you got a total of five. So that’s 24 total. And then Nate, you got 21. I’m surprised Reynolds was not on that list. Like, and I’m a big Reynolds guy, as you can see in the jersey behind me, but it’s like the year he had, he was awful, right? Yeah, it was a bad year. And he would had more plate appearances. Do I have the list? I have signed Jackinsky as a backup. So, here is the full list. There were nine players that had 350 or more at bats after Triolo being the worst. I did say Triolo was the worst, right? Yeah. After Triolo or not the worst, he was the best of the Yeah, he was number five. Number six was Tommy Fam. So, he I just missed with him. and then Cutch and then Reynolds and then Horwitz. Hey, this is a big day for all my Spencer Horwitz train believers in the Discord, not even named. After three rounds, we got Nate with 21 points. Doug with 24. Doug, how you feeling? You feel like you’re going to get this? We got one more question, but it’s a Discord question, so yeah, that’s a tough call. That’s a tough call. I have a lot of bitterness. I don’t know if I have that much bitterness. I don’t I don’t know if I could tap into that to, you know, figure out. Nate, how are you feeling? You’re down by three. It’s It’s a close game here. What are we thinking going into the last round? I’m proud of that last round I had. I kind of saved my butt there with some of those picks. I’m still baffled that Reynolds was not on that list. I don’t know what it is based off how much stuff we talk about him in the Discord, but you said this is a Discord question, so hopefully I’m in there enough. As sad as that sounds, it is it is a Discord question. It is a Discord question. And you know, we’ve been saying it this whole time. They’re they’re a bit bitter. So, I asked them a question of like optimism here. It It got some It got some answers back that I couldn’t use because of either profanity or they were like, “This is a joke.” But, oh jeez. I asked our NS9 Discord, name a current Pittsburgh Pirate who is most likely to win a batting title in 2026. So, who do they think is most likely to win a batting title? I believe Nate, you get to go because you’re still behind. I’m gonna take like I was just talking about my guy as number one Spencer Horwitz believer. I’m taking the Spencer Horwitz train here. Alrighty, Spencer Horwitz is the number one answer. You get five points right off the bat. Thank you to the Spencer Horwitz train. I know who you guys are. So, that puts you two points ahead of Doug right now. Doug, who you taking number one? My question is, does this is Connor Griffin eligible in this question? I said 2026 Pittsburgh Pirates. Um, I mean I he’s eligible. Let’s just say I’m I’m picking him because there’s nobody else on the team. There is nobody else on the team that could win. So I I you know I don’t know how you got five answers out of the discount. He is. Conor Griffin is on the list. He is the last answer. So Doug, you get one point closer to Nate here. Nate, you’re back up. Um, oh, I’m gonna go ahead and take I know. Screw it. I’m gonna take Brian Reynolds. The top two answers off the board. Brian Reynolds. He Those are the top two. I mean, the people that you would Let’s get the bounce back. So, I don’t even know. Can Doug come back? I don’t think I can come back. I don’t think so. It’s a great day for the Spencer Horwit train. Nate’s got 30 right now to Doug’s 25 and you Well, I could get the three and the two. I could tie him. You could tie. You could tie. So, let’s get Doug. We can play for the tie and then we’ll figure something out. All right. Oh gosh. I’m embarrassed to say any of this because I don’t believe they can hit 230, let alone win a padding title. But I’m gonna go Nick Gonzalez. That breakout Gonzalez. That’s the third best answer there, Doug. You know, I was thinking about saying him. Um I I want to say this man to make Facebook angry if they’re watching this. I want to take Mr. Exit Velocity. Um Mr. Future 4040 O’Neal Cruz and ding ding ding. Nate seals it with the O’Neal Cruz take there. I mean, the fact that O’Neal Cruz, he of the 200 batting average last year, is the fourth most likely pirate to win a a batting title. I take umbrage with the questions. Facebook ain’t going to like that answer. So, there it is. There you have it. Nate beats out Doug 32 to 28. Nate, go ahead. Get on your soap box. I picked Alex Hernandez. That’s who I should have picked. Alex Fernandez to win the batting title. Nate, get on your soap box and talk about some Spencer Horwitz or whatever you want to talk about. Oh, you want Spencer Horwitz propaganda? I got all of it. Um, as the leader of the Spencer Horwitz train in the game chat of Discord, me. Um, who else was there? You got Shawn. Um, you got uh Silver Sponges, they know who they are. Fubinis, I think on that, too. We were the only ones there for the first home run. Everyone said he was going to be awful, but we stuck through it. The train kept chugging through PNC Park and every single Sunday we allowed people on that trade. And guess what guys? They still said no until the final month and they finally understood he was a good baseball player. Don’t listen to what the random Twitter accounts with the dumb profile pictures say. Spencer Horwitz is a good baseball player. That’s my soap box. They call themselves Spence men. So, you know, they’re not swifties. We are We are It’s the [ __ ] train. That’s what we call it.
