This might not be the right thread to get into it but I think somebody should vote for Matt Kemp just to acknowledge that he dated Rihanna.
Character clause is more of a suggestion to Bondy, I see.
Fuck are people seriously gonna vote for Ryan Braun over Matt Kemp? It’s 2011 all over again!
I think Felix might actually eventually get in one day. Not this year obviously but I think hes slowly gonna pull his way to 75 percent.
I love King Felix getting more votes.
Okay just because you’re allowed to vote for 10 players doesn’t mean you should.
Braun isn’t gonna ever make it obviously but it’s cool that he got a vote at least.
TIL that 8 out of the 9 HoF ballots so far are anti-Semitic.
Ryan “the antisemitic drug tester tampered with my urine” Braun
Any vote for Omar Vizquel is a bad vote
Did Braun actually get a vote? We’ll have to see how that ballot was handled.
Even without the off the field stuff, how do you vote for Vizquel? Low 40s WAR with an awful bat
Filip Bondy’s hierarchy of baseball crimes:
Taking steroids – acceptable
Sexually humiliating a disabled team employee – acceptable
Playing second base – not on your fucking life
This is almost a troll ballot. Braun, Vizquel, A-Rod, Manny, Beltran, Pettitte. Pretty much all tainted in one way or another.
Alright all you PED lovers. Explain voting for Braun. I don’t think he is even borderline without the PED usage. Where is he good enough? He’s 25th in LF JAWS. Doesn’t even have 2k hits. Is it the 352 home runs? His 132 career ops+?
Braun but no Pedroia is just wrong. Even if you ignore the PEDs and Braun trying to ruin that guys life
Don’t really care about the rest, but let’s go another vote for Felix
Hey that’s my neighbor lol
Manny, A-Rod, Braun, Vizquel… oh boy
This is the worst 10 player ballot i’ve ever seen
This guy voted for all the controversial ones huh lol at least he’s consistent
Maybe not related to him but some of these voters piss me the fuck off lol if you vote for Braun, who did PEDs and publicly LIED about it, but you didn’t vote for Bonds in the past… you need to be launched to the moon lol
I usually am a strong believer in using all 10 votes you on the HoF ballot but this year is making me reconsider that! I guess this writer really doesn’t give a shit what people did off the field. No Pedroia vote is bizarre considering Braun got one though.
Can someone explain the infatuation with Vizquel to me? He’s a legitimately dogshit player as compared to the average HoF shortstop, and on top of that he’s got multiple character concerns.
To this dude’s credit, he clearly just disregarded character altogether and voted for who he wanted, so at least he has some kind of consistent philosophy. The ballot posted yesterday included vizquel but not a rod or Manny which is insane to me. I guess steroids are worse than beating your wife or being accused of molesting an autistic bat boy?
Voting for Ryan Braun is crazy. He’s not even close to a hall of fame player, and it’s not even like you would want to give him a token vote as a shoutout to a beloved player with a remarkable career.
Anyone who thinks Braun is a Hall of Famer… man, I just don’t understand that.
You should lose voting privilege for a ballot like this.
LMAO this looks like a ballot designed to piss people off. Felix and Buehrle are the only ones here without any significant black marks.
Uses all ten votes, but not one of them on Utley. This is a real weird ballot
FELIX FELIX FELIX FELIX
This voter rooted for the empire in Star Wars clearly
Fuck Ryan Braun
There’s absolutely no reason to vote for Ryan Braun.
Taking into account the character clause and the definitively cheated MVP and the ensuing chaos from that, once he was found out to have been cheating his overall production tanked from a HOF level player to HOVG and not even for a very long period of time which would’ve helped his HOF case. Cheated at a HOF level lasted 6 years. HOVG lasted 3 years.
So if you’re voting for him character clause aside, you’re voting for a peak player (whose peak was cheated). There’s several better peak players on the ballot he didn’t vote for (that also didn’t cheat).
He’d be in the bottom portion of LF HOFers by WAR. While *someone* has to be within this area, the people who he would occupy space with fall within certain categories that would warrant more consideration especially for their time. Heinie Manush was a high BA accumulator early in baseball. Lou Brock is one of the few players with 3000 hits and deserving despite sabermetric struggles. Jim O’Rourke is dead ball. Chick Hafey had a 5 year peak that was just as impressive as Braun’s but oddly enough nothing that would’ve warranted a HOF vote in any ERA of baseball so being voted through the veteran’s committee is speaking towards insider info that those in the game saw from him IF I had to find a way to justify a very unjustified HOF selection. Monte Irvin was a negro league induction which we know are spotty but leeway should be given and it’s hard to give the full scope of those stats.
So his company he’d occupy if elected specifically by WAR would be exceptionally shoddy. His peak is lower than average from most within his position. JAWS doesn’t love him. Braun’s career started at 23 ended at 32 in terms of serious production. You’d need a legendary resume to have such a short time frame be considered HOF worthy which he doesn’t at least cleanly. He’s not an accumulator. He’s got nothing going for him.
Well, at least he checked off Andrew Jones but I don’t like this ballot
what an insane ballot lol
At least this voter won’t be called an antisemite
I have a friend named Carlos Beltran. Each of the last few years after the vote, I send him a sympathy text for not getting into the HOF. Maybe this year I will need to send him a congratulatory message…lol
