The Mariners Made a DUMB TRADE?? Zac Gallen FAKE Contract Got Exposed.. MLB Winter Meetings
The winter meetings are here. If you’re brand new to baseball, the winter meetings are the busiest week of any MLB offseason. So, it’s about to get crazy. We have a lot to talk about today. But I do have to mention with any winter meetings usually comes fake reports and things that don’t actually come true. Aka Zack Gallon. It was reported that he was going to the Cubs. Jeff passen, he shot that down. Gallon is not a Cub. So, make sure you guys just tread lightly because there’s going to be a lot of stuff that hits and stuff that doesn’t. But with that being said, we do have a big-time trade to talk about between the Nationals and the Mariners. And the reason why it’s a big time, maybe you’re a casual fan and you might not know prospects, but I am a huge Harry Ford fan and he just got traded. And a lot of Mariners fans are saying, “We only traded him for that.” So, we’ll break that trade down in just a moment. I do want to talk about some other smaller things I missed over the last few days. I was traveling again, but I’m not going anywhere anytime soon. 31-year-old Cedric Mullins, he has found himself a brand new home. He gets $7 million for 2026 and a $10 million option for 2027 from the Tampa Bay Rays. Wow, the Rays are spending money. Fun fact for you guys, the entire Tampa Bay Rays outfield last year only had 29 home runs. Cedric had 17. He once had 30, but I don’t even think he’s come close to 25 since that point. He’s also coming off a brutal stretch after getting traded to the Mets. He hit 180 to his final 40-ish games. But he did play some awesome defense. Now Cedric, he’s always going to take his walks. He’s gonna steal bases. He’s going to track down baseballs. Just don’t expect anything from his arm because it’s a noodle arm. And one thing, he’s really weird because he flip-flops in terms of his splits. One year he’s a whole lot better against lefties, so a reverse split guy. The other years he’s better against righties. He doesn’t really make any sense. There’s no consistency. Maybe he should go back to switch hitting. I don’t know. Obviously, I’m being a little bit dramatic with me saying he should go back to switch hitting cuz he’s been a whole lot better since stopping that. The Rays, they’re spending money though. I like it. Ooh, we have some winter meeting rumors heating up this morning. This is alleged. Again, take it with a grain of salt, but according to the reports, the Mariners, Pirates, Rays, Jay’s, Tigers, and Red Sox, six separate teams are checking in on Catel Marte. Just a reminder, the Diamondback said, “We’re not shopping Catel Marte, but if you call us, we’ll take the call.” It’s kind of weird, but I guess it makes sense. Do you think Catel Marte is going to get traded? Let me know in the comments. And also, while you’re down there, don’t forget to leave a like and subscribe because if he does get traded, I’ll have that video up pretty much immediately. Now, we just brought up the fact that the Red Sox were checking in on Kel Marte. They actually just made a trade I do want to talk about before we get into the Mariners and Nationals trade. So, the Red Sox, they just traded for the 6’6 monster Johan Oedo. He throws gas. He has elite extension and a wicked slider. The only problem is he can’t throw strikes, but neither could Araldis Chapman. and he goes to the Red Sox with Andrew Bailey and he starts throwing strikes. I actually really like this move for the Red Sox because if any team is going to fix command for a tall guy who throws really hard, it’s probably going to be Boston. Now, the Red Sox also picked up left-hander Tyler Samanaga. I don’t know. I’ve just learned of these guys’ existence today, but he’s a lefty with great strikeout potential. They also picked up a young catcher, Adonis Guzman. Now, when he first got drafted and he was in high school, they said that he was the best defensive catcher. So, I’m excited to see how he progresses. He also showed some awesome hitting tools at Arizona. So, the Red Sox have brought in Sunny Gray and Johan Oedo over the last few weeks. So, that’s a pretty instant boost to their rotation or just pitching staff in general. Who would the Pirates get in return for giving away a pretty I would say talented pitcher in Odo? He does have talent. Let’s not get it twisted. Even though he can’t throw strikes, there’s a lot to love. The Pirates are getting Jungkin, I think that’s how you say, or Yonkinston Garcia, aka the password. Why do they call him the password? Well, his first name is so hard to spell and pronounce that they just call him the password because you want your password to be confusing. Garcia, he’s going to be 22 years old. He has insane raw tools. Had 23 home runs and 17 stolen bases with a near 540 slugging back in 2024. Pittsburgh also picked up a former top 20 prospect from the Giants. I’m going to talk about that in a moment. But also in this trade, going back to the Pirates, they’re getting a right-handed pitcher by the name of Jesus Travaso. He’s a young flamethrower. I think he’s 18, 19 years old. He has a crazy slider. He’s a work in progress. But that’s the trade. I like this trade for both sides because I really, really think that Johan Oier is going to break out the Red Sox. And the password, he’s going to have more opportunities to shine with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Now, one more move that I want to mention about the Pirates. They just picked up Marco Luciano. They’re trying to pull a Joey Bart 2.0. Do you guys remember Joey Bart was one of the highest ranked prospects when he was with the Giants. I think at one point he was the number one prospect for the Giants, a top 10 prospect in baseball. He fizzled out. he never could make it with the Giants and he goes to the Pirates and breaks out. So, they’re trying to do the exact same thing, go back to the Giants. Well, which also, if you think about it, they also picked up Brian Reynolds from the Giants and that Andrew McCutchen trade years ago. So, the Pirates getting players from the Giants works pretty often. And don’t forget about Connor Griffin, who literally looks like he could be the next Bobby Jr. kind of the Mike Trout of infielders. This kid is ridiculous. So, the Pirates in the blink of an eye now have Marco Luciano, a former top 20 prospect. They bring in the Password, who was one of the best and most gifted offensive players in minor league baseball. And they still have Connor Griffin. I I like what they’re doing. I also still like Nick Gonzalez. I I’m not going to say anything cuz the Pirates always let me down, but I like these moves. Three small updates before we get into the Mariners and Nationals trade. The Blue Jays have outrided Yario Rodriguez. Now, it was first reported that he was DFA. He’s not been DFA. He’s still in fact in the Blue Jays organization. I guess his contract is being pushed to the minor league system. I don’t know exactly how that works, but he put up a 2 and a half his final 60 innings. Now, because he still owed $17 million for the next two or three seasons, he went unclaimed. So, again, he was outrighted, but because he went unclaimed, he’s still in the minor league system. I just think that a trade is coming. So, I wanted to let you guys know that Yario Rodriguez was really good down the stretch and also made the playoff roster, he’s probably going to get moved. Miguel Rojos, he’s coming back for one more season. I thought that he said that 2025 was going to be his last year. Nope. He gets $5.5 million for the Dodgers. And whether the Dodgers 3P or not, Miguel is hanging up the cleats after 2026, and he’ll be joining the front office for the Dodgers in player development. Last but not least, in terms of these smaller updates, Ameilio Pagan, he’s going back to the Reds on a two-year deal worth $20 million, but there is an opt out. So, if he repeats the success that he had in 2025, he’s going to opt out again, become a free agent, and get an even bigger bag, which is cool. I always love when players get more money. All right, let’s do it. Let’s talk about that trade that kind of broke baseball Twitter yesterday, especially Mariners Twitter because they just traded away one of the best prospects in baseball. Harry Ford is on the move. He is going to the Washington Nationals in exchange for a guy who had a 4 and 1/2 year last year with less strikeouts than innings pitched. So, what the heck gives? That’s all it took. A guy with a four and a half year for one of the best prospects in baseball. Let’s break it down and make it make more sense. So, a guy going back to the Mariners is a lefty flamethrower by the name of Jos Ferair. And yes, he did have a four and a half year, but I guess let me talk about him in a second. I want to break down Harry Ford and what he brings to the table and see why he was a top prospect who also once upon a time was a big name in the WBC for team Canada. Harry is a soontobe 23-year-old catcher with the potential to be JT Ramutoesque offensively. Let me repeat, offensively. So, Harry Ford, he’s already showing a veteran eye. He’s got a fantastic eye with great plate discipline. He hits the ball hard. And get this, two years ago he had 35 stolen bases. That’s where the JT Ramuto comp comes in. As opposed to like a Will Smith, Harry Ford can motor on the bases. Now, taking a step back and looking at him defensively, he is not close to being JT Ramuto. Ford really has to work on his blocking and his framing. I would kind of just describe them as meh, but also a work in progress. He’s 22 years old. He has plenty of time to develop those weaknesses and he’s going to have a bunch of time to do that because he’s not being blocked by Cal Raleigh, Mr. Big Dumper, one of the best catchers, probably the best catcher in baseball right now. I mean, we’re just being objective. It’s going to be a whole lot easier for Harry Ford to break camp and try and beat Kybert Ruiz, who hasn’t really shown that he could be a top hitting catcher. And defensively, he stunk it up as well. So, yeah, Cal Raleigh compared to Ky Ruiz, a lot more opportunity to grow. Here’s the thing, though. Yes, Harry Ford is one of the more promising prospects and really one of the more exciting catcher prospects in a while, but Jose Ferrer, he’s 25 years old. He’s one of the hardest throwing pitchers in Major League Baseball from the left side and is simultaneously one of the best command guys in baseball. So, that sentence almost never goes together. One of the hardest throwing pitchers and one of the best command guys. That’s who the Mariners just picked up. But Jose kind of has an Emanuel Claus issue where sometimes he’s too accurate and it doesn’t actually benefit him. He needs to be a little bit more wild. Emanuel Claus was wild, but only when it was the first pitch of an inning and his buddies overseas were betting on it. But oops, the objective for the Mariners is pretty easy. They’re going to be toying with his high velocity sinker or maybe develop his straight fast ball to really increase his strikeout numbers because again, he throws gas. He doesn’t walk anyone, but he doesn’t get a lot of chases because that sinker isn’t very good. Even though it’s one of the hardest thrown sinkers, it doesn’t really do much damage. And they’re going to try and change that. And I like their chances. They always do a great job at developing pitchers. I mean, seriously, if the Mariners fix Jos Ferrer in terms of his strikeout stuff, if they can go Jose Ferrer, Matt Brash, and Andros Munoz, Senor Smoke out the pen in the seventh, eighth, and nine. I mean, come on. I do want to mention that I still believe it’s a little bit light of a return for the Mariners. I know that they believe in their hearts that they can fully unlock and fix Jos Ferrer, but for a guy like Harry Ford, you got to get at least one more piece. I know it might be an 18, 19year-old prospect who’s going to be a project, but a one for one, I’m not sure if I uh I mean, it’s good. Again, I like Jose Ferrer’s potential, but I just need a little bit more meat on the bones for Mariners fans and their sanity. And there we have it. Cedric Mullins (31, 17 HR, elite defense, weak arm) signed a 1-year/$7M deal with the Rays. Ketel Marte is drawing heavy interest from the Mariners, Pirates, Rays, Jays, Tigers, and Red Sox. The Red Sox traded prospects Garcia and Travieso to Pittsburgh for high-upside but wild RHP Johan Oviedo, K-heavy LHP Samaniego, and elite defensive C prospect Adonys Guzman. Pirates also claimed former Giants top prospect Marco Luciano (23 HR in AAA) as a Bart-style reclamation project. Yariel Rodriguez (2.54 ERA late ‘25) was outrighted by Toronto but likely headed for a trade. The Mariners sent top catching prospect Harry Ford (offensive monster, 35 SB potential) to Washington for hard-throwing, command-heavy reliever Jose Ferrer.📝

I will only accept trading Ketel for a top 5 pitcher in the league, nothing less. He's way too essential to the offense to settle for anything but a top rung pitcher. We gotta secure a Garrett Crochet or a Zach Wheeler, somebody excellent.
Not related but do you think Brendan Donovan is gonna get traded?
to be real, its a backup catcher for a high leverage reliever… 2.57 era on the road, expected era of 3.10 next season, Id say this is a solid trade
Harry Ford played for the UK. Also his full name is Harrison Ford. 🙂
Harry ford in exchange for a couple of bums 😂😂😂😂
Fuzzy always gets right to the point, no blah blah blah my opinion nonsense, straight facts with the quickness. Thats why I watch , thanks dude 🤟
The reason they are taking calls on Ketel is his 10-5 No trade clause kicks in during spring training meaning they are severely handcuffed if they want to move him in the future
Harry ford will not be a good ball player on the mariners in order for him to be a good player they need to sit down cal and they’re obviously not doing that
My YouTube Wrapped showed me in your top 0.01% so I thought that was pretty cool! You were my source for baseball updates!
I think those saying the Mariners made a bad trade, have not looked deeper at what Ferrer offers. I don't know how good Harry Ford will end up being, but I am suspecting Ferrer will become a stud in Seattle.
dumb
Fuzzy
I’ll kms if we trade ketel
Only issue I have with the M’s trade is that Ford could have been part of a bigger package for a more sure piece. And Ferrer’s sinker is elite, he just doesn’t throw enough offspeed. M’s pitching development is probably banking on just adjusting how often he throws his slider/change up will take him to the next level. (M’s are also cheap and like controllable players, they get ferrer for 4 seasons, this season is pre-arb, so while it’s not an excuse to be cheap it does explain why they valued him this way)
No on Ketel to Seattle. Too expensive and the dude can't hit at T-Mobile.
That Clase joke 😂
Team Canada?
Can't believe harry ford and the password got traded in the same week
No Marte trade please I’m a diamondbacks fan
I just watched my youtube wrapped no mention at all about my crime watching and the top song I only watched like 2 times I think they messed up somehow.
As a Mariners fan, I'm more than okay with them trading Ford. He wasn't going to get any meaningful playing time with Cal there, and the Mariners need bullpen arms.
the pirates should be all in on these japanese guys. they dont spend money on any mlb player. why are they not all in on these japanese superstars. they would be at theyre price tag
Watching this on the stairmaster. Thank you for making this somewhat bearable 🫶
Loved watching harry ford in Everett and really thought he would be the next big thing in Seattle
Fuzzy, I was somehow in your top .1% of viewers on my YouTube wrap up. Crazy!
I know it’s not your fault but so boring
not even a 1 for 1 mariners also gave up a 9th or 10th round pick yeah its 9th or 10th but still, mariners should have got more for Ford
Mariners had to get value for Ford and thats what they got, he had no value as a backup catcher all year.
In the Harry Ford trade the Nationals also received Issac Lyons, son of former MLB player Brandon Lyon (who’s apart of some pretty cool trade trees). Issac was Grand Canyons ace last year and honestly I see some big upside in him. The nationals for sure fleeced that trade if Ford and Lyon develop into their full potential
