We're so far off from contention it makes no fucking sense, not like we have any good players to start building w giannis

  1. We have the assets and also a direct flight to Athens

(I don’t think there’s much chance we actually trade for Giannis, though)

  2. I don’t think we’re as far off as you think. We can craft a trade where MPJ is not part of the package. It can be Clax, Mann, Highsmith & Demin plus a boatload of picks and swaps.

In that scenario, we build around Giannis, MPJ, Clowney, Wolf and Powell and still have cap space to improve the team next year.

I’m not saying I’m in favor of it, but you can make a strong argument the way he’s playing that MPJ can easily be a second star on a top team and either Clowney or Wolf have the potential to be a third piece sooner rather than later.

  3. They’re saying that so people click on their post or article. It’s unrealistic and contradicts everything the organization has been putting together since the Big 3 fell apart. I would put absolutely zero stock in any of it and I would put the percentage of Giannis being a Net at .01% (because nothing is definite).

Now, can the Nets be a part of a multi-team trade that lands Giannis elsewhere? That I can see. The Knicks want Giannis, but unless Milwaukee wants KAT and a filler player straight up, then other teams need to step in. (I don’t see Marks helping the Knicks get Giannis and increase their title odds btw). Other teams I’d keep an eye on are Miami, Orlando, and Minnesota, but Giannis, for sure, is not coming to Brooklyn. Talking heads love mentioning Brooklyn in any star player scenario.

  4. It makes little sense from our roster timeline. But recall that once stars start putting out their longer list, the Nets are usually on it. The talking heads on TV don’t give the Brooklyn Nets any respect. But the players all talk about it as being a franchise that treats players well, has good facilities, and is in a market they would like to live in (not to mention a good base to do business from).

Related note, the outline of a scrappy and low salary NBA team is shaping up in Brooklyn. I’m beginning to see outline of the pre-big Three squad. Marks could basically hold this squad together and have two max contracts cap space in just two years.

  5. Doesn’t make sense from either ours or Gianni’s pov.

Makes sense for the Bucks cause of our assets.

  6. There are 3 maybe 4 teams that realistically can pull out Giannis trade. Two of whom has huge questions on whether Giannis will like or want to go there:

    1. ATL -> has all assets and location.

    2. San An -> has assets

    3. OKC -> has assets but why?

    4. Blazers -> got assets, but no one going there. Unless he is that friendly with Dame. Horrible location, 16 hour flight to Greece with multiple transfers.
