It may be the by-week for the New York Giants, but we just got some major breaking news to discuss here on the channel as you’re watching New York Giants Now by Chat Sports. And I am your host, Marshall Green. Not at the studio today. It’s one of the only days of the year that I don’t work on an NFL Sunday, but I still wanted to get you guys a video because we’ve got some major stuff to break down. If the NFL draft was today, they would be picking number one. Yes, you heard that correctly. The New York Giants now own the number one pick in the 2026 NFL draft. With the Cleveland Browns losing to the Tennessee Titans, or should I say with the Tennessee Titans beating the Cleveland Browns, the New York Giants, they leapfrog the Titans and they now have the number one overall pick. a pick that should they make, they hopefully get a future Hall of Fame type talent or they trade down and get a Kings Ransom back and fall down into the NFL draft where they can still select a blue chip player, but in my ideal world, they have an extra first round pick in the loaded 2027 NFL draft. That is what the decision makers for the New York Giants should be thinking about. Sure, if there’s a player at number one that you can’t pass up on, do it. Based off of my couple weeks of NFL draft research, I don’t think that player exists at that mo at this moment, unless you need a quarterback, which I do not think they do. They should continue to ride it out with Jackson Dart. But there are going to be teams that do need a quarterback. And they just saw what Indiana did yesterday to beat Ohio State. And they may be willing to push all of their chips into the center of the table to select Fernando Mendoza. And if the New York Giants can pull off a heist, if they can move back, let’s say three, four, five picks, remain inside the top eight, and get an additional first round pick in 2027, that is going to make this rebuild, retool, whatever you want to call it, you’re going to be able to press fast forward on this process because the Giants are going to have multiple premium picks over the next two years. Look at what it did for the Chicago Bears when they were able to trade down from number one. When the Carolina Panthers were quarterback hungry and they traded up and they gave up a hall to go and get Bryce Young. It actually netted the Chicago Bears the number one pick in the next year’s NFL draft to select Caleb Williams. And there are some studs in 2027. And the New York Giants, think about it. If a team is trading up to go and select a quarterback in 2026, they’re probably not going to be that good in 2026. And you might have a premium pick, top five, top six in 2027. And you might be within striking distance to go get a Jeremiah Smith out of the Ohio State. We haven’t got many wins this year. What do they have? Two wins this year. It feels like a victory Sunday right now with the New York Giants moving up the 2026 NFL draft board. Before we talk more about what’s going on across the NFL and how it directly impacts the New York Giants, I want to hear from all of you in the comments section. If the New York Giants have the number one pick in the 2026 NFL draft, should they trade the pick or should they make the pick? Type T for trade down. Type M for make the pick. I want to hear from you. At this time, I think you got to stick uh you got to trade down. There’s no reason to stick and pick. Um you talk about who Well, I I’ll pull up a mock draft right here. Um Tankathon has Arll Reese, the linebacker from Ohio State. I don’t want to judge it off one game yesterday, but I didn’t see a top 10 player out of Arll Reese uh in that game against Indiana. Ruben Bane Jr., the edge rusher from Miami. He’s a damn good football player. I’m not taking another edge rusher in the top three. Fernando Mendoza is there. Ty Simpson is there. Dante Moore from Oregon is there. Caleb DS the safety from Ohio State. Jordan Tyson, the wide receiver out of Arizona. In a perfect world, in my opinion, you trade down in round one of 2026 and you still put yourself in a position to select a guy like Jordan Tyson, the wide receiver out of Arizona. Still in the spot to select a guy like Caleb DS, the safety out of Ohio State. still in position to maybe select Peter Woods, the defensive tackle from Clemson, or maybe Germod McCoy from Tennessee, or Carnell Tate from Ohio State, or the corner from LSU. There’s some good players in this draft. I don’t think there’s a player that should keep the New York Giants at the number one pick at this point. Um, I’m looking to trade down and hopefully um that happens. And I’ll say this, it shouldn’t be Joe Shane making that decision. It doesn’t matter where the New York Giants finish, but I’ll just play both sides here. If you think a general manager after their fourth season, who netted your franchise the number one overall pick deserves to keep their jobs, you are insane. And you embody what it means to be a losing franchise. the New York Giants at this point. Think about how bad this is for the Giants. One, you have the most losses in the NFL since 2017. Uh, doesn’t really matter. In the last three years though, the New York Giants are now tied for the worst record in the NFL with the Tennessee Titans when we had Joe Shane’s roster take over in that 2023 season and in that 2024 season and in that 2025 season because it wasn’t really his roster in 2022. That was Dave Gtlman when we got all the Joe Shane picks, all the Joe Shane moves, all the Joe Shane acquisitions. when we kicked off in 2023 where you got boat race 40 to nothing in week one to the Dallas Cowboys since that game including that game you have the least amount of wins and you are tied for the most amount of losses with the Tennessee Titans. There is no world I’ll say it and I’ll look it directly into the camera. There is no world that Joe Shane should be the general manager of the New York Giants going forward. They should fire him tomorrow so they can get a jump start on this search and get a GM in place so they can hire the head coach when Black Monday gets here following the final week 18 Sunday of the year. I don’t trust Joe Shane to make the right move with the number one overall pick. How could you? He choked on number seven with Evan Neil. He traded up from 24 to 23 or 25 to 24 to get Deontay Banks. Like come on, man. He hasn’t drafted one Pro Bowler outside of the league neighbors. He hasn’t drafted anybody. I don’t know. I’m just over it. I’m over it. But today’s a good day. The Giants have the number one pick. The best currency you can have is high draft picks, draft pick ammunition. And the New York Giants have it. And it’s it’s another good reason or another reason this is important. You don’t have that many premium picks. You don’t have a third round pick. So if the draft was today, you want that fourth round pick you own to be as high as possible. Right now you have the number one pick, number 34 pick, and the 102nd pick. You only got two picks inside the top 100. You want that third pick in round four to be as close as possible, but it’s a good day. The Browns lose, the Titans win, the Giants leaprog the Titans, and they now own and have sole ownership of the number one overall pick. If you want it to stay that way, hit that thumbs up icon and let’s go Giants.
