[MLB] Welcome Jeff Kent to the Hall of Fame Class of 2026!

  1. Just a farcical organization I really don’t understand how anyone can take them seriously

  2. He was the one I was pretty sure wouldn’t get in because it really seemed like he treated everyone like shit.

  3. They tried to make a ballot to force the committee to put Mattingly in and the committee said fuck you

  4. Kent suddenly found some nice extra power in his 30’s.

The key to getting by in the PED era was not being too good while on them. It’s a joke that he’s in and Bonds isn’t. Both of them were assholes.

  5. I would have voted for him, but it is underwhelming when the only guy announced today is someone that nobody liked.

  6. He had one of the great phantom injuries, when he ~~fell off his motorcycle drag racing~~ slipped while washing his car.

  7. This is amazingly good news for Lou Whitaker, who’s got a better candidacy in just about every way. No MVP but has a ring

  8. I’m surprised Mattingly didn’t get in considering they basically rigged the ballot in his favor.

  9. Holy shit he made it? The thing I’ll remember about this guy is his motorcycle accident

  10. Really surprised and disappointed that they didn’t also get Dale Murphy inducted. This seemed set up for Murph to finally get in

  11. That the committee looked at the list of eligible players and decided none of them were worthy _except Jeff Kent_ is the most insane thing I’ve ever heard

  12. In case anyone hasn’t seen it – Kent got 14 votes (12 needed)

Next closest was Delgado with 9

    Mattingly and Murphy with 6

Everyone else had less than 5

  13. This is why I hate the argument of just blackballing players in the steroid era. Kent doesn’t have any obvious ties to PEDs but he’s also a player who put up 33 of his 55 career WAR when he turned 32.

I don’t trust anyone from that era

  14. Fuck it let everybody in. I’m tired of guys like Bonds, Clemens, Manny and A-Rod not getting in because they took PEDs.

News flash: Everybody took PEDs in the 80s and 90s

There’s players in the HOF who likely took PEDs

  15. I think Jeff Kent should the the line of “Hall of Very Good” for this era. I just don’t really see what makes him a notable enough player for this. Like is Trea Turner on a HoF path? The MVP is obviously a big difference but he seems like the best modern comp in terms of stats.

  16. How the hell is Jeff Kent a Hall of Famer, but Albert Belle isn’t?

They were both giant assholes to everybody, so that argument doesn’t hold weight.

  17. We need a new Hall of Fame without Hall of Good players, which seem to be elected every year.

  18. This guy was teammates with maybe the most notorious PEDs user in baseball history whom for said reasons won’t get into the HoF

This guy also magically found his offensive game well into his 30s

    Nothing to see here!

  19. 55 WAR.

This dude should not have even sniffed Cooperstown. His only admission chance should have been if he stood in line for a general admission ticket.

And why the fuck is all 75 WAR of Lou Whitaker STILL not in the Hall?

  20. meh

Hard for me to understand his support. Guy was cantankerous to teammates, an asshole to the press, not particularly known for anything outside of hitting, 162nd in war and 160th in MVP shares, 28th in WAR7, 22nd in JAWS.

I get that he got in by committee vote but it’s weird seeing him in with guys like Utley Grich Pedroia etc not.

  21. Never understood why he had a “country” accent, considering that he grew up in SoCal and went to Cal
