NHL Highlights | Penguins vs. Stars – December 7, 2025

Puck is dropped and we are underway as the Stars welcome in the Pittsburgh Penguins. It’s the only trip that Sydney Crosby and company make. It’s a quick icing and Essa Lindell was there to pick it off. That’s that patented set play. Crosby’s off to the side of the net. Whoopsy daisy. Eric Carlson can turn the puck over at a dizzying rate. He he got in between his mind there and just Dallas’s AHL affiliate before finding a home with the Pence. Kappo Bienko and now off of steel Dumbo with a shot stopped rebound. There was a tight angle for Mantha. He could not get it home. A little kid line going in Pittsburgh with these three. The three rookies and Kendall who’s been the most productive leaves it for Kimman and then redirected off Hunter. He had to get the pad down. stuffed in front by McGory and the puck was loose. The referee lost sight of it. The deflected puck fought off by the Dallas net minder, but some elevated heartbeats after that. Still scoreless. Shots are 54 favoring Pittsburgh. They turn it over. Maverick Bour across Ritz Kovian has Beck fed there. Saved. Bour keeps it going. Petravic off the bar with his wister. This was a very patient setup after the turnover by Weatherspoon. They waited a little bit. Hung on to it after the dash to the net front and they used the defenseman away from things. Jarry was all discombobul. Nowhere for Petravic to go but to ride the rim in deep. And back where Graves is able to get there. Fire off for Achari. Race for some contact after gloving first. Penguins move it. Shot. Score. Connor Der unccorked a shot from the slot after the Penguins effectively. That was a great play by Lazot along the boards. little buck in the middle that they just sort of chunk the puck into the Star zone and immediately when he got the puck on the left wing boards, he knew what he wanted to do with it. The Stars trying to do each other’s jobs a little bit because of that misplay in in neutral ice. And from that wide open as Derer, he sort of waves the stick a little bit. And the Penguins are very good when they score first. The Stars are very good when they surrender the first goal. It’s one of many areas in this matchup where it feels like strength on strength. Talked about the special teams equation that we haven’t seen so far in the contest at the start of the broadcast. Here’s a twoon-one. It’s Hints with Ben. Fed there and Jarry does a 360 after making the save. Jamie gets a lot of this. You can see it. Then the Stars maneuver their way through some Penguins traffic. Robertson springs it in for hints with speed. Ben scores. No problem on that one. Hints to Ben to the back of the net. Oh, this is unbelievable puck movement by the Stars. They love that play. The forward comes back toward the defenseman. Robertson’s able to hit. Rope hints on full gallop and then Ben just trails back. Dumbo gets absolutely clowned as he tries to do two jobs at once. Hence slides it over and kang the captain with a perfect sizzler. No way Jar’s getting across in time on that stretch out for Rust who’s entering down the left wing onto the forehand back for Latang. Shot stopped on the doorstep and out of room was Novak. Couldn’t settle it down and no angle on the line. Novak back in. Measured by Petravic around for Crosby. Back for Novak. And Crosby once more springs it for Shay. Shot pinalled off bodies. Novak. Crosby. Let one-time score. The missile shot. Novak was in front. Looked like he got a piece and the Penguins reclaim the lead. I think Auter might have got his right leg on it anyway. And then they just bump it back to the point. The quick shot. There’s no The Stars were spread out. There was nobody challenging Novak in the heart of the slot. They chase to the perimeter, open lane, perfect deflection up over the glove of Jakeer. And just a ninegame point streak season long on the line and two and 0 in these beautiful 99 jerseys. They’re trying to keep that finds Hasten in left circle. Rantin one time blasted wide. Comes out for Hastinan. Lazot strips it away. Johnston steals back shot and it stayed out. Jason Robertson had the look up high at the line. They go low. Robertson. Mo Rantinan center of the zone. Set it up. Hasten and fake the one-timer. Under two to play in regulation. Stars trailing 2-1. Wyatt Johnston over to the right. Hastinan scores. Six on five. Turns in. not being able to change on icing. The Stars can. Weary guys out there for Pittsburgh. They held tight in the interior. Blocked some shots, but a scorching weaponsgrade slapper from Mero Hasten. And look at the bend on that stick. Might have ticked the penguin. A bewildered jar in behind. He didn’t see anything but jerseys. Miro long indeed. Johnston settles. Hints with speed across the line and Rantin had it taken away. He steals it back. Shovels in front. Jarry the save on Johnston. See if Wyatt can win one here for them. It’s the Penguins who win the draw. Send it around. Lindell Holds gets a shot away. A save made and 60 minutes complete. This Stars team that has yet to meet an obstacle that they can’t overcome. He’s had a tough time with Roe throughout the game anyway. And Rope wins it back. Turns into a foot race and Hkin will get to it. Sideep Crosby. Pressured though by Rust and turn the puck over. So despite having a chance to control first, it’s the Penguins who do. Carlson brings in, leaves it, Crosby, and then he missed Rust. And Dallas is going to get it back. Stars with a rush up ice. Hints has Robertson. Hints. Robertson saved. Jory literally saved the game. And on we go. A twoon one if we’re going to go all number. What a stop by Jarry. Then gets knocked down and Hastin wants to go. He will with numbers. Hastin has Robertson. Hastin. Robertson and stopped up and out of play. Had a couple of looks throughout late stages. Fought off by Chari. And we are headed to a shootout. Wow. Back on the announcement for him. Just his second attempt, first game in forever. Duchain stopped by Jory. Man, it’s like he just melts their minds. They all know it’s coming and he had it beat. There wasn’t even a flinch from Jarry. There was some room. First shooter for the Penguins is Brian Rust. He’s one for three this season. One for four is understanding ate it up with the glove. He’s using a salmon net or something. Look at that. Straight into the reticulate. Actually snapped his wrist back. Wide left curls back. Weaving and uner with the blocker. Stoned him. Scoreless for two rounds. Patience by Auter slows down. He’s trying to go over the pad. Mo Rantin’s fourth attempt of the year. A short conversation with the stripes. Now he gets the green light. Rantin in on Jory scores. Mo gives Dallas the lead. Full of sass and brass. This is just an eloquent dart. Perfectly placed. Pick the corner. Same thing that Crosby just tried at the other end. just beat that stick. They are an aer save away from completing the comeback. It’s Latang trying to extend it. Save in the glove. Jay got greeted by his teammates.

Jake Oettinger made 27 saves on the night, Miro Heiskanen and Jamie Benn scored a goal each, and the Dallas Stars earned a 3-2 shootout win over the Pittsburgh Penguins.
