Caleb Williams on Week 14 performance in Green Bay | Press Conference

Kevin, can you just walk us through the the final pass, kind of what your eyes are seeing and your decision-m process? Yeah. Uh, we had about two or three guys in front of, you know, either either stacking Swift or excuse me, um, stacking Swift or, um, uh, right there with Swift. And so, um, you know, rolled out and saw Cole and, uh, I tried to give him a, you know, a big boy ball, try and let him go up for it because I end up seeing 25 starting to sprint. And so, uh, tried to tried to slow him up and, you know, kind of give him a chance in those moments. It’s, you know, got to have it moment. and uh they had a guy trailing me and so uh didn’t feel that I could go get it myself and so uh just got to give Cole a better, you know, a better shot at it. I think, you know, next time just extend him a little bit more and um kind of kind of lead him. Um you know, but in those moments you you want to put the ball in play um and and and trust your guy or you know, try to have your guy go make a play and just got to give him a better ball. Have you had a chance to rewatch it yet for No, yeah. Sorry. What’s the feeling in the locker room after coming so close? Is it resolution? What is What is the general feeling? Yeah, it’s it’s frustration. Uh just because uh you know, we we shot ourselves in the foot, I think, more more than anything. Uh and and so, you know, I think that’s where the frustration comes from. We we got to we had a great shot early in the game with the interception. Um, you know, defense doing a good job and then, uh, we kind of let them get going and, you know, they put up some points on the board and, uh, you know, uh, we had to try and rally it, you know, and and it’s not always going to work in our favor and, you know, we we we work our tail off to try and, you know, not have these, you know, situations. But, uh, when the situations do, you know, come, we got to we got to, you know, try and go make plays and and and try and, you know, come back and and make the right plays to, you know, steal the win. What’s your what’s your game standpoint? How how were you guys able to get in the rhythm in the second half that you really weren’t in the first half? Yeah, I think it’s mindset and I think it’s just execution. Uh small details. It’s something that uh we spoke about that that you know they weren’t they weren’t necessarily um confusing us or you know doing anything you know too too out of the ordinary. Um you know it’s it’s it’s a good deep coordinator and they’re they’ve been a good defense throughout this year but um and and kudos to them for making you know the plays uh when needed definitely at the end of the game. So, um, you know, but I think it was more of us shooting ourselves in the foot and, uh, not making the plays and and and the small details. And like I said, that’s something that we spoke about in the locker room before we came back out. Um, is focus on the small details, doing our job, execution, and then, uh, you know, we’re able to start getting on the same plays and then, you know, I think I think, uh, we had, you know, a couple good plays that made a spark for us and we started to get going. What was your feeling of the offensive rhythm in the second half? You guys really moved it well. Yeah. Uh, I think that, you know, I think, uh, kind of what I just said. It’s just we needed a spark and you know we end up having a spark with uh you know one of the passes or or uh we came out run the ball well and things like that. So um you know I think it it created a good momentum for us and uh like I said we were executing the the you know the small details. The extended play completion you hit the Cole up the up your sideline in the third quarter. What did you see on that one? Uh just saw Cole do a good job uh being aggressive and and uh you know trying to make a play for the team. Um and uh you know he got in front of and and stacked the defender and just gave him a shot. Caleb, independent of the result, what’s the value of this team playing in games like this, high leverage, high stakes, big stage? Yeah. Uh, you know, obviously our goal is to win every single game and our goal is to, you know, win these games and then get, you know, get to the playoffs. And so, uh, it’s a playoff playoff atmosphere and, you know, going versus rival and things like that. So, it’s good for us, uh, to be able to find ways to rally and obviously we want to focus on having a better outcome and starting faster and all these different things. But um it’s it’s definitely uh you know it’s defin definitely useful for us uh for just in case we go on the road at some point and and um you know in the playoffs and things like that. Um you know it’s it’s something that we’re going to use in the future um and and throughout my career. Um but you know we got to focus on you know this next game coming up to to get to that point. Caleb, what did you learn about the downfield passing attack in the second half? Like how that was able to come alive that you think you can apply earlier in the game? Yeah, I think it just comes down to uh small details for me. Um, I think it comes down to to footwork. Um, getting in rhythm faster. Um, and then, uh, you know, small details for for us in the passing game. Uh, making sure everybody, uh, is where they need to be. Um, and and, uh, communicating that, you know, properly and, um, you know, just just creating the right mindset, uh, you know, on those drives and going into the drives. You see these guys again on 13 days. What do you learn? What can you take from today that can help you then? Yeah, we need to we need to start faster. Uh, we I need to start faster. We need to start faster. And you know, I think that’ll, you know, do us well. Um, you know, as a team and and as a offense, especially, um, you know, that’s that’s something that they did better than us today, I would say. And then they made plays at the end of the day. Uh, you know, a few more plays than us. The fourth and one play, I think, did you have a different play in before they bang the timeout or No, no, no. Um, we end up we end up calling the same play. Um, and uh, yeah, Ben said he had a a big guy touchdown teed up to Theo. Obviously Theo got taken away on that play and you had something over on the other side. Yep. How does that unfold for you? Uh obviously going there first and then Yeah. Yeah. Uh if if Theo popped, uh just give him a good ball. Don’t don’t kill him with the ball and um they end up covering him down and then you know just went through my other reads and Coulson ended up popping open. You might answer this. How tough was that throwing your Not tough at all. Just got to give him a better ball. Thank you too much. How would you describe the emotion of Lambo Field? Great. Yeah. Uh the energy um you know, you you love being in these games. You love being in these competitive games. You love being in uh these high state games. You love being in, you know, away games and things like that. And um you know, that’s what it’s going to take. You got to win on the road. Um half the season is on the road, playoffs, you know, a lot of times on the road. And so, um just just being able to um cherish these moments and and and learn from them, whether it’s a win or a loss, um is really important. Thanks, guys. Awesome. Thank you.

  1. this team doesnt care about this loss, all they care about is money, and it makes me question to god what have i done that i am experiencing pain expecially against green bay when rodgers torched us so much and now jordan love

  2. I think Caleb got something against DJ. He’s been doing that to DJ all year. 😡 it’s all good because if you look at the Green Bay Packers schedule, we still gonna win the division 🐻

  3. Special, stand-up dude. Couldn't be any further from the narrative that surrounded him coming out of college. Have a lot of faith in him.

  4. You have a player that has a TELL, I just sent you a message about it. We also mentioned it to ESPN. So be ready. This TELL should absolutely not be happening at this level of sports and your going to lose more than you should if you dont fix it. You should have won this game, had it not been for the Packers knowing what you were going to do.. I sent an message to the "Special Request" Department and sent an email to Ryan Poles' personal email. Gotta fix this or they will use it against you again in 2 weeks.

  5. Love this season, but packers displayed that if you stop the run from the bears they become one dimensional period!! While Caleb dos play ok he’s still mediocre and average at best the numbers don’t lie. He’s very inconsistent and still overthrows to receivers. He talks about the details, but still keeps doing the same thing.

  6. Great to see bears fans FINALLY pumping the breaks on the talk. You guys are not that great and I hope you guys will learn how to act in the future. Caleb did awful per usual and got carried by his RB. Caleb is NEVER going to beat the packers playing like he did.
