“Josh Allen is phenomenal” – Booger McFarland reacts to Bills’ 39-34 thrilling win over the Bengals

Last time they were on the field, lost to Cincinnati. Joe Burrow back. Can they pull Magic again in snowy Buffalo? The weather outside was frightful, but Burrow and T Higgins were delightful. 21 yds, 14-3 Cincinnati in Buffalo. Yeah, in the snow. In Buffalo. Fourth and four Bills. How does Josh Allen make this throw? Running to his left. Big play. Gabe Davis back with the Bills. 17 yd. Bills still with another fourth and four from the 11. How does he do this? Josh, you don’t tug on Superman’s cape. That’s Jim Crochi, right? Well, now it’s not Jim. Never mind. I got the wrong song. But he got the right receiver. Khalil Shakir touchdown. But the Bills still trailing up 2111. Under 10 to go. Third quarter. They’re looking for Dalton Concade for a touchdown. Why don’t we hit the tight ends? A theme in the game. 2118 Bills. Still the Bengals lead under a minute to go in the third. James Cook, they’re going to take the No, they’re not. DJ Turner number 20 punches it out. A fumble by C. Yeah, really good being Johnny on the spot there by the Bengals. Able to cause that fumble and defend another blade of grass. Under nine to go in the fourth quarter. Burrow under pressure and Bills fans are going to get Casiki. Mike Caseiki touchdown. Cincy uh doing a gritty 2818 in the snow. Look at this. You wouldn’t think what two of the best quarterbacks. And here’s Superman. I’m going to take matters into my own hands for like the 8 millionth time. Josh Shalon with a touchdown, but the Bills still throw 28-25. 5 and a half to go. Uh-oh. Picked off by Christian Benford. The little push pass. The Bills defense is ready. Biggest play of the game. When you look at Joe Burrow, he’s just the timing is a little off. He thought he could get it over. Didn’t put enough air in it. Biggest play of the game for the Bills. First lead for the Bills. 3228. Now Bengals looking for Chase again. Isn’t Nick? It’s about the time. AJ Epanessa Scrooge was just that. I mean, this is his time of the year. Back-to- back interception by Burrow on backto back passes. Allen to Dawson Knox. Well, let me hit all of my tight ends. Let’s see. I got concade. I got Knox. Well, I have a rookie. He started at Yale once upon a time. Let me look for Jackson Haw. No, I’m still looking. There it is on fourth and goal from the three. All the tight ends, all of them capitalize to 39 to 28, but Burrow not done. T Higgins touchdown. They go for two, don’t get it. 3934. Under two to go. Third and 15. Superman. It’s a bird. It’s a plane. It’s Josh Allen. Safe. Bills. Wow. What a game in the snow. You wouldn’t have it yet. One of the last games they’ll ever play in that stadium. By the way, the snow globe was out. The Bills circled the wagons and beat the very game. Bengals 39-34. Buffalo is 9 and4 for Josh Allen. You know, we we stress with this team all the time is we don’t blink. We don’t panic. Doesn’t matter if our defense is playing outstanding, where they’re not playing great, and vice versa for our offense. You know, we we have supreme trust in each other that we’re going to figure it out. We’re going to play for each other. And that’s all we try to do is just not ride the wave, stay as calm as possible and figure find a way to figure it out. You know, when I came back, I knew it was going to be an uphill battle. Uh we were we were three and eight at that point. That’s certainly not a playoff caliber position to be in. Well, the back-to-back picks, the turnovers obviously changed the game. But Josh Allen really ch we’ve seen this a million times a lot of times. September, October, as his career went on. It’s like, Josh, you don’t need to be Superman. Four quarters, week three, even though we’d like to win all the games. This is December in the snow trailing, and they’re behind New England, who they play next week, two games. He put the cape on and we saw it behind New England trailing in the game. The Bengals are playing well. He went in the phone booth and he put the cape on. He did. 250 yards passing, 22 for 28. If that and if that wasn’t enough, he rushed for another 78 yards. Boom. He made play after play using his athleticism. We forget he’s 6’5, 240 lbs. He was the best player in the National Football League today. And he had to be because James Cook didn’t have his best game. He fumbled going into the end zone. He got the tight ends involved. He did not have a wide receiver have more than three targets. So, this was a game that was about Josh Allen being athletic, being accurate, getting the football to the tight ends, and the defense doing just enough, creating turnovers. Boom. When he plays like this in that building, in that weather, they’re tough to beat. These two team, now we’re going to go to the Pittsburgh Baltimore game. They’re very tough to beat. Even no one will want to play them even if they’re a wild card team, but we’re getting ahead of ourselves. All right. Well, New England’s playing up next week. They haven’t lost since like three years ago. I’m kidding. Pittsburgh, I know the stats won’t agree with it. And so they said, “Wait a minute, but Baltimore, they ran for 200 yards.” But in the play in the games last year in Baltimore in December and in the playoffs, Dererick Henry and company ran for a combined about 450 in the two games. Yes. Now, I know they had 200 again today, but we saw the big run by Mitchell after allowing all those yards rushing to the Bills last week. They were much better in that department. I’m not saying they were the steel curtain. They were better and allowed them to stay in the lead the whole game. Just about the the defense played a lot better. They got a lot of those yards late in the game. The the the big run by Mitchell was in the second half. In the first half, they stopped the run. Uh them being the the Pittsburgh Steelers. This was a game from a Steelers standpoint. When you go sign Aaron Rodgers and you trade and sign DK Metaf, this is what you envision. You envision Aaron Rogers being athletic, throwing the football down the field. You envision big plays over 130 yards for for uh DK Medaf. The explosiveness in the offense. They got big plays in Pittsburgh. This is an offense that hasn’t got big plays. Boom. And today they got chunk plays. It wasn’t four or five yards. It was 15, 20, 40 yards down the field. This is the guy they envisioned. And I know he’s 42 years old. I don’t know if he’ll be able to get out of bed tomorrow. I have no idea. However, if they can get something similar to this, then Pittsburgh has to feel really good because the defense between Hosmith, Herbick, and Watt, they can still close games out the passer. Metap, I think, had more yards. We didn’t see him really here, but his number of 148, I think, was as much as he’s had in the last five games combined. Something to something to that effect. Baltimore, they came all the way back from one and five to be six and five. They’ve now lost two in a row, uh, both in the division. They end up playing with Pittrick. their only way in. I understand they’re only one back one. These teams have to win the division, these two teams. I don’t see them wild carding it. So Baltimore, can you be nine and eight, including a win over Pittsburgh at the end. Their margin for error is really, it’s been since one and five, really narrow. And we’ve said this for four, five, six weeks. Lamar hasn’t looked like the Lamar that we all know. He he doesn’t look right. Boom. Um something is a miss. It it it just seems like, you know, he’s missing practice one day a week. We continue to talk about that. The explosiveness isn’t there. There was a point on the last play of the game where we’re used to him getting out of that sack. He got sacked. When’s the last time somebody ran Lamar Jackson down? Like that doesn’t happen. And I understand the hamstring may be still lingering. This is a team even though they are flawed, we expected more out of them. We He normally runs out of that play. You just expected at this point in the season, they know what’s on the line for them to play better and be more consistent and they’re just not. And it’s starting to frustrate John Harbaugh to the point where he’ll never say it publicly, but you can see it in the body language and the actions on the sideline. It just doesn’t look the same. Yeah, correct. And that defense of course hasn’t it’s better now, but it hasn’t looked the same. But you know who’s looking defensively like the Ravens used to look like Ray’s team? Those will be the Seattle Seahawks off a shut out last week. Early 10:00 a.m. Pacific clock time start in Atlanta. Was a slow start for Sam Darnold. Seahawks against the Falcons. Matter of fact, this youngster, James Pierce, first rookie with a sack in five straight games since Michael Parson. Those two rookies, Jaylen Walker and James Pierce Jr. paying dividends. So 3-3 game second quarter. Darnold throwing. Boink. And then Mike Hughes gets the interception. Tero with the chip and so turnovers. That’s a bite. Seattle is a minus team on the turnover. But they do this the second round pick Nick Evan War who starts on defense plays special to block the kick. He’s an athletic freak. Boom. 63 240. Look at the length to reach with the arm and block the kick. Did I say special teams? A few weeks ago they got Rasheed Shaheen. Well, first thing he was doing return kicks. Started the third quarter. 66 game. What? He could go all the way. You’ve just started the third quarter. 100 yardd kickoff return. Seattle 136. Now only a couple minutes later. Bean Mustard Robinson fumble recovered by Deon Witherspoon. Jiren Reed just off IR forces it. No doubt. Look at the club he’s got. Maybe the club. I need to give him one of those. Yeah. Well, we I think it add 10 yards to the drive. Then Darnold pros to Jackson Smith and Jigba. They didn’t need it last week in the shut out. They needed this at 20-6 that one. Now 23-9. After another defensive play sets up a field goal, Darnold Cooper Cup and now it’s 30-9. And then Kirk Cousins, David Window Sills. Uh-oh. He shut the window on his hand. Intercepted by Williams. Ow. Seattle defense doing it again. Darnold to Smith and Jigma Booger. Last eight quarters the defense has allowed no touchdown. Boom. It was 66 at halftime. They opened up a can in the second half. They did 37-9. And we don’t have to complete the sentence. I know what you
