Miami Heat Reportedly Had Meeting Over Ja Morant Trade and His Potential Fit w/ Franchise
Hey, welcome on in guys. Tobin here with you and thanks for checking out the channel your rascals. Hope everybody’s doing well out there. Better than uh old Tobes. You know, I’m a little depressed. Going to get to the basketball here in just a second, but if you could get uh just old man yelling right now. Um so, so the baseball hall of fame has like this contemporary committee that’s basically out now. It’s basically to make up for some oversightes by the BBWA, I think is the baseball writers association. Yeah, I think that’s it. DoubleB WWA. I think that’s how it is. But anyway, um so they had this this committee to vote on a bunch of guys and I guess if they got 12 votes, you got in the Hall of Fame. And the only guy that got in on this bevy of potential players was Jeff Kent. And it’s just like the most, and it’s nothing against Jeff Kent. Jeff Kent’s a fine player, okay? Really great second baseman. Won an MVP, you know, but wasn’t even the best player on his own team. He played on the same teams as Barry Bonds. And Jeff Kent got in. No. Carlos Delgado. I don’t think Carlos Delgado is a Hall of Famer. Uh Don Mattingley didn’t get in. And that’s a little crazy. Dale Murphy didn’t get in. They all got over five votes. And then the guys who get dropped off the ballot, this is only done every 3 years, uh, who got fewer than five votes and I guess are done for this committee. Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Gary Sheffield, of course, Marlins’s great, and Fernando Valenuela. And I’m very upset about this. I’m upset about Barry Bonds. I’m upset about Gary Sheffield. Barry Bonds, best baseball player, uh, best hitter you’ve seen with my own two two eyes. Gary Sheffield, one of the best players in franchise history. You know, I was talking to Gary Sheffield in Jupiter. um this a couple months ago and we were talking about the Hall of Fame and how he deserves to be in in my eyes, but also you know Gary Sheffield being part of that 97 team was a 93 Marlin traded for Trevor Hoffman and you know said that you know if the Marlins would have stuck together in the 90s like there would have been no 90s Yankees wouldn’t have been a thing and I’m just upset. I’m upset. This guy is a true legend and now uh is not getting the Hall of Fame. I’m not a big steroid uh guy as far as like keeping guys out, but uh I’m bummed out. So, you’ll excuse me. Let’s get on to the uh to the basketball. That’s what you’re all here for. But I appreciate you guys handling my little rant there. Jeff Kent, like amongst all those players, Jeff Kent, are you effing kidding me? The guy who lied about washing his car, breaking his hand. Geez Louise. Jake Fiser of the Stein Line, NBA insider. He had some juicy nuggets today on the Miami Heat. Argo the Sunday night video. And this came out in the St, which I had actually just unsubscribed to. So, hey, congratulations, guys. You got me uh you got me back on board. I had just unsubscribed to the the Stein line. I guess I was like, “Ah, you rascals. I guess I’m back.” Because everything was like, “Luca, look at this. Look at this. Cooper flag. We get it. You guys love Dallas.” So Jake Fiser had a couple of interesting things here on the Heat’s interest in Giannis and the Heat’s interest in another potential all-star that could be on the market. Uh on the Giannis stuff, he says the Heat have not forgotten that Giannis was said to have a level of interest in a move to Miami back to 2020. Sources say Antoupo’s management group was assessing the net worth of a 4-year max deal in Florida with no state income taxes, which uh we have heard. You remember he did the stream with Show Speed. If you guys haven’t, go see Drew Star uh on on uh Twitter and you can get a look at that. But that state tax thing appealed to him. We know he said the whole Florida cities thing. So if he does become a uh if he does become available, something to keep in mind. But I actually don’t want to talk much about Giannis. We did Giannis earlier the week. Nothing’s really changed on it other than look at the heat want to be a contender. You got to impress Giannis. One of my points was look, it seems like the East has more fruitful options than just the Knicks. Boys, you’re going to have to get it together if you want that to be the case. Um, but this one was uh this one this I found more interesting that Jake was reporting and it was on the Heat’s interest in John Morant. And Jake reported that Miami was already shaping into a surprising buyer on this trade market even before this week’s Giannis headlines. League sources say the Heat, for example, have had internal discussions about Memphis’s John Morant and how Miami’s infrastructure could benefit him. Okay, I’m not proud of myself. I just want to say something because I know I’m not proud of myself because I know I come off unbelievably fraudulent and I’m going to get help for this on the radio show on Monday when I bring this up. But you can’t blame me for being a little intrigued in the middle of a losing streak. It just Jake did all of the Heat fans dirty here because it’s like, oh, all of a sudden we catch you in a little bit of your first weak moment of the season and you’re like, hey, by the way, you’re having internal discussions about John Morant. And I don’t like what that makes me feel because of course I’m like a greedy pig. I’m just like I want to sit here and I want to I want to just I talk about all things possible with John Morant here to save the day to be the uh the the the dominant score. Even though so many things about John Morant don’t make sense with the Miami Heat. so many things. There are so many signs and warning signs that John Morant and the Miami Heat just isn’t a fit. You know, maturity-wise, city-wise, is he a good investment anymore? Is he is he on the down slide very fast because all the athleticism going down? People have compared this to Derrick Rose, um, you know, John Wall, those speedy guards who just have just incredible first four or five years of their career and then it just like it kind of flails out and then you out of the baggage off top. But if you and this is why this is why I I can’t be trusted, you know, and I understand what I am, you know, a lot of people say you don’t understand. I understand what I am. You know, I I I am I am a person who can take the facts as they go and sometimes my opinion will change. Now, some people will call that flip-flopping. Some will call it fraudulent. Some will call me a loose goose floozy. I just call me human. It’s like Jiannis said, you I’m not allowed to be human. I’m not allowed to have thoughts. I can’t have my opinions change. And so if we all of a sudden can’t seem to put together a competent couple of game scoring, will John Morant help all that based on his prowess on defense? Maybe not, but it’d be fun. And so I don’t like that Jake is just dropping this in my lap. He’s just like, “Ah, what do you think about this?” I don’t know what to think about it, Jake. Now look, the Heat do have to believe in their own infrastructure. I do like that. I like the idea of the Heat just saying, “Well, yeah, maybe we could maybe we could fix him. Maybe we can, you know, take take what people didn’t see.” And in a lot of ways, they they did that with Jimmy, right? Like Jimmy was a malcontent in Philadelphia, very talented Malcontent, a talented Malcontent in Minnesota, and then they just let him be himself, which was really cool until uh the the games played became an issue and the winning stopped and the mid-30s came around for a paycheck. Then all of a sudden, they’re not they’re not so prone to that anymore. And you want to know something? A lot of the times that’s kind of how it goes. Like people talk about heat culture all the time and they always like to say that heat culture isn’t for everyone. We’re not for everybody is what they like to say. But usually they could be for anybody on a short term. And so the question is what do they want to do with this John Morant thing? Is this just a consolation? Is is is this again is is the we don’t know the timelines of this. Is this snooping around because they think, hey, we’re not going to pay Tyler Hero. So, if we flip Hero for Jaw, Jaw’s kind of locked in on that price. We feel more comfortable with that than we would on Tyler. Um, do they think this is because they have no shot at Jiannis onto Takmpo? I don’t know. I don’t know what the reasoning would be. There’s but the idea that they’re just kind of doing their due diligence on hey how would they help? I’m sure that also reaches out to what would John Morant think on this now. I don’t think they have the connection anymore because John Mar’s no longer with Mike Miller. So they can’t go to the Heat legend and figure uh you know what that is. Not that they would anyway because they’re a bunch of good boys in the Heat. They would not tamper. But you know I’m just saying just kicking the tires around. You know what I’m saying dude. Um he had a couple of other nuggets. Uh and this was in regards to the Heat and who they’d be willing to part with. He says, “Sources insist the Heat is indeed willing to part with Andrew Wiggins in the proverbial right deal. The fact that the Heat didn’t come to a contract agreement with Hero uh would also appear to make his $31 million deal movable in the right trade. Look, um it was a very short window. I don’t think it’s a for sure that just because the Heat didn’t come to an extension with Tyler Herro that they’re going to just flip him. Um, but it’s a risk, right? Like it’s a it’s a risk on how the rest of this year goes, how healthy he is, how they think negotiations are going to go. But the Wiggins thing is is going to be an interesting one, you know, cuz the Wiggins is a really good player for the Heat. Um, I’ve I’ve long thought, and this is not on reporting, this is just on process of elimination and seeing the writing wall. I’ve long thought that the way that this Heat team is built, that one of the people that we’ve looked upon as the regulars is going to get dealt, and I don’t think it’s going to be Bam, and I don’t think it’s going to be Norm. I’ve I’ve mostly thought that to be a hero or Wiggins type of deal, leaning more towards Wiggins. Like I think the Heat are looking at Andrew Wiggins. They’re going to try and beef up his trade value as much as possible and then move on because I think that they look at it and say, “Well, it’s either if he plays too good, then he might just opt out. You lose for nothing.” Um if he doesn’t play that great, well then you’re on the hook for his deal next year. And then you just talk about like the emergence of Haime, the uh wanting to start Kell. You already have the three guys in in Hero, DaVon, and Norm that you want to play. You’re going to probably, you know, you think the Miami Heat are going to go are are venturing towards a road of extending Norman Powell. I don’t know. But I it’s just long felt to me. It’s nothing against Andrew Wiggins. It just felt to me like the Heat are going to go about this to get as much out of Andrew Wiggins as they can by the trade deadline to try and get an asset out of him. You know, whether that be a first round pick or whatever, maybe a more useful player. That to me is is kind of felt what this is all leading towards. And if they and if they don’t, then fine, like he’s going to be a useful piece, I think, in the playoffs. But I I I it’s it to me has felt like this has been trending towards we’re going to try and uh we’re going to try and find something there. And again, I hate doing this off of three straight losses because this makes me a little bit more susceptible to moves. You know, I was I was very, you know, uh cut off when when the heat were were humming. Now all of a sudden I’m like, well, you know, maybe I could be maybe I could be swayed. Maybe that makes me a rat bastard. I don’t know what that makes me. Finally, he said, uh, sources say the NBA has yet to confirm whether Miami would be eligible to trade Terry Roier’s salary while his legal status remains uncertain. I’ve also been told Miami would have to first agree to a trade in principle that includes Roier’s outgoing salary just to generate an official ruling from the NBA about whether a trade is legal or not. Well, that’s that’s that’s complete horseshit. Not saying that what Jake is saying is untrue. I’m saying if that is true, that is that is to the highest order that the Miami Heat couldn’t get clarity one way or another on if Terry Roier is eligible to be traded or not. Now, the ba the basis of how this is going and I haven’t even done this in Mchiana’s trades. I didn’t even every other every other podcast is including the Roier deal. I haven’t because I’m under the impression that they’re not going to let him. And the reason I’m saying that again is not based on any intel. It’s just based on they haven’t given the Heat any clearance on it. His money is still being paid out just to another account. He’s not getting it and they’re basically putting this entire thing in limbo. It would lead me to believe that the NBA wouldn’t allow the Miami Heat to get any reprieve on the Terry Roier deal. Uh I saw Anthony report pretty recently they don’t even know if they’re allowed to wave him to get the to get like his 2 million off the books because I think if they wave him by January instead of 26 million it’s like 24ish million and they’re not even sure if they could do that. So, it’s it’s completely completely ridiculous that the Miami Heat at this point can’t get any clarity on this. And you know, I saw Barry tweet about this, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, who thankfully his Twitter account is back that it’s unfortunate because this feels like an issue nobody cares about. I will give Kirk Goldsberry credit uh from the Low Post or sorry, Zack Low Show and The Ringer. He did bring this up on the podcast discussion about it’s not the ma Miami is kind of dealing with one arm tie behind their back because they don’t know. And I and I really think that this goes down to for me I get it. The Miami Heat made a terrible trade for Terry Roier. It’s ridiculous that you would have given up that. And I and I understand the the Hornets fan being like this is ridiculous that we would have to give this pick back. Um this isn’t like Miami Notre Dame. I could actually see the Hornets uh the Hornets side of this thing, especially a new front office that wasn’t even involved in it. So, my whole thing has been look, just give the Heat a pick, a compensatory pick for their troubles because this is ridiculous. Let the Hornets keep the pick, whatever that may be, that’s fine. In fact, let the Heat unprotect it so they can unlock even more picks and give the Heat a compensatory pick for the first round that they could just trade and use as an asset. To me, that would be the prudent right thing to do. But I don’t know. The NBA just keeps burying their head in the sand with this. Um, and you know, I hope that he is asked about this at all that Adam Silver is asked about this at all-star weekend. Um, because I do think it’s an important question. I think I think the commissioner has a lot of things to answer for, dude. like I hope the comm I don’t know when he’s going to do a press I I think that’s the next time he’s doing a press conference setting because I I haven’t heard anything really of substance you know when it’s not like with a league partner interview um but man they need some kind of clarity on it that’s that that’s for sure uh you need clarity on it and I would like them to uh to get this all squared away because it is it is quite annoying to have all these trade discussions and and talk all this stuff out. And I understand it’s not a pick that has to go for two more years, but in the urgency of all of this stuff and the Heat really not having any clarity on the money, I think it would be the prudent thing for the league to come through with some kind of final say on where they stand with the Terry Roier trade. I don’t think it’s a lot to ask for the Miami Heat. You guys buried an investigation for years. You claimed he was he was cleared to go and hoped it would never come back to bite you. It did. The Heat are are are due swift justice for this. They really are. That this is not something that should just hang out in the ether forever. Um but as far as the Heat going after Morant, look, Jake Fischer, don’t do this to me, dude. Don’t do not do this to me in the midst of a three-game losing streak. All right? Because because my my my heart was full just a few days ago. The Heat are are fat and sassy. They’re going to the NBA Cup and now you want to drop drama rumors aside. And it’s just like I I I I can’t handle this right now, dude. You’re you’re you’re you’re messing with my chi. You’re messing with with my balance. You’re messing with with my fune, whatever the hell it is. And I and I can’t handle that right now. I’m trying to focus on a season. I like these players. I like how the Heat’s playing. And you want to tease me with John Morant rumors. And I and and I just h I just don’t know what to do. Oh, I’m such a trade floozy. I don’t like who I am around this stuff. I’m trying to change. Jake Fischer’s just telling me the heat are having internal meetings. I’d love to be in those internal meetings. You wouldn’t love to be in the internal meetings. Who gets to be in the internal meetings? Andy Hat, Zo, Spo, Ruth, Riley, Hunter, the Harrisons, Adam, Simon, the Scouts. Do the scouts get to be in the meeting, man. Who else gets to be in the internal meeting? Crazy Andy. Who else gets to be in the internal meeting? Who do they call in just to spitball? Get some because I feel like in an internal meeting can go one of two ways. You either want to keep it tight circle meeting like this. You want to Yeah, let’s just spitball. What are the ideas? I feel you’d like you want a lot of input from people on there. You know, I’d love to just I mean Ron Rost, does he come in with a cup of coffee and he’s just like, “Hey, Ron, what do you think about John Moran?” He goes, “Are you kidding me?” And he walks out there, stop the tape. I mean, what what goes on in these internal meetings, man? Love to be in those.
Tobin reacts to the report from Jake Fischer that the Miami Heat met internally over Ja Morant and if the franchise’s infrastructure could benefit him if they traded for him. It was also reported the team is open to trading Andrew Wiggins and is unsure about their ability to trade Terry Rozier.

Tobin? no CANES VIDEO!!!! I WAS SCREAMING THIS MORNING ๐คฃ CANES IN THE CFP!!!!!
Heck noooo! Not yet another guard, especially not one making $40 million a year and shooting 16% from 3! 16% ๐คฏ
How about focus on getting a great big man to play next to Bam.
Would you do it?
PG: Ja
SG: Herro
SF: Powell
PF:Bam
C: Ware
Heat JA
Memphis Mitchell Wiggins
Ja Morant, In my humble opinion, isn't a good fit for the Heat. Checkered past to name one reason.
Im sure all nba teams have "internal discussions" about potential trades. Don't read too much into it.
God noooo. Get that fake gangsta out of the NBA.
Jovic Dude!!
I hope they came to the right conclusion
When have any of these reports about miami proven true? The heat are notorious for not leaking information
Make it happen
Tobin thatโs why u make the big bucks bug the heat offices
So you think we are going to trade for a player making 40 mil a year with is off the court reputation and put him on south beach? Make that make sense.
No! Let Ja be someone else's problem. When he isn't injured he's getting suspended. He already misses 25-30 games every year and that will only get worse as he gets older. His game is based on athleticism, and that won't last forever. Do the Heat need another guard who doesn't play defense? Wiggins is a solid citizen who does everything, and trading him for a problem child makes no sense to me.
Don't want to see Gunboy here. Nope
Pass on Ja. Id trde Herro, wiggins, & Ware & picks for Giannis in a 2 or 3 team deal. This roster could win a title this year
G davion mitchell
G Powell
F JJJ
F Giannis
C Bam
Bench
G Larsson
F Jovic
F Fontecchio
G Dru smith
F keldon smith
G Kasparas
Can't stand that guy He doesn't deserve to play in Miami. Doesn't know how to conduct himself. Inconsistent
Why would we need Ja if we have much cheaper Davion
If we can get him while keeping our top 5 guys Iโm all for it. Thing is the Heat are really deep. We can probably get him for Wigs, Jokic, and Roziers contract. Throw in a draft pick for good measure. Boom
Morant should be Plan B if Giannis deal doesnโt work out. I question his durability and activities off the court. UD and Zo definitely gotta have that discussion set the ground rules if he does end up on the heat. Giannis tho is top priority!!!!
Sounds to me like they want to let Milwaukee know they have options
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
It will be like a waiters/butler drama all over again. At least jimmy gave us a few good years.
The only smart trade with our assets and our books, is trade Bam for Giannis . And keep our team. Just a up grade in defense and offense. And maybe trade Herro for whatever we need to build a contender team.
Shout Out : Mike Miller ๐
I definitely want the Heat to get Ja he would make us better and we need a PG
Ja is a big upgrade over Herro, lets get this trade done!
STOP THE TAPE! ๐
Sounds like Terry Rozier 2.0
if they trade Wiggins you will see a huge difference in the team defense, lots of SF/SG (the taller SGs) will have career nights in points against the Heat!
Giannis x Ja x Bam ๐
Markkanen
Watch the nba screw us again like they always do with the rozier situation, just give us our pick back man!!
This team needs to turn Jovic and Terry into a back up big and Spo will not find success with a 3 guard line up unless Steph is one of the guards other than that it never worked in the history of the NBA ask Goran Dragic
๐๐that's what I was talking about all this months
To Memphis
Herro/Terry rozier/Jovic or draft pick to keep Jovic
Miami received
J.morant and 1 player done deal
Chris Paul off the bench is perfect last chance for title shots it will work out perfectly let pat Riley add that in hes pocket ๐
3 game loosing streak we lost to 2 teams with a loosing record
Im still enjoying the ride though
What if they talking about a 3 team trade for Giannis. There are reports that the Bucks are intrested with Ja.
Not a high character guy.
Stay away.
Another banger tobin, keep it up!
As long as bam mentally tard ass is on the team we are going nowhere, it don't matter who we trade for.
Trade bam.
Retire Pat.
Let's go heat.
Jeff Kent has more HRs than any 2nd baseman in MLB history
this might be the reason why heat offense seems off.
Good discussion, avoid that cancer.
The heat got the best out of Lamar, failed with B-Easy, could "fix" certain misfits once upon a time, forget Moron-t those days seem long gone. Wigs isn't a fit. Standing pat might be the best option. Trading Tyler home to Wisconsin for Giannis should be considered. It's all too complicated, let's get the current team to work!
Loose goose floozy is accurate.. Love ya tho, annoyingly.. ๐
Na, he is a problem & I donโt mean that as an athletic complement, proves it repeatedly.
