So-called “play caller ranking” Kubiak and Shula Shining

Looking at the giants (lol -0.12) and then seeing 2 of the top candidates for HC in Shula and Kubiak scoring really high is encouraging.
Patton Analytics calculates play caller rankings using a Principal Component Analysis (PCA) model that evaluates efficiency and aggressiveness. Key metrics include Expected Points Added (EPA), Completion Percentage Over Expected (CPOE), and Passes Above Expected (PASS), while also factoring in factors like personnel packages (e.g., 11, 12, 21 personnel) and market predictions for points scored. A newer “Y-Aware” approach weights variables like EPA and Points Over Market Expectation more heavily due to their statistical correlation with points scored or allowed.
“Cmon you don’t even want Kevin O’Connell he was -.81 in the play caller rankings”
Id lean shula. Kubiak has only been offensive coordinator for 1 year and his longest tenure at the position has been 1 year. his past 10 years have been extremely turbulent not sticking with a team for more than 2 years. We haven’t seen how his offense lasts over more than 1 season. look at what happened to Kingsbury and bobby slowik. Not even mentioning Idk what staff he would assemble with that chaos.
Shula has been dc for 2 years. The McVay coaching tree is somewhat trusted. He has been having a top 10 defense with non-elite talent, developing guys who are not 1st or 2nd round dudes but much later and somehow getting the best out ion them. On top of that his coaching staff would likely include mike Lafleur, Matt lafleurs brother (since he doesn’t call plays) as his oc. Lets not look past fact that the rams wanted dart last year, so im sure they know how to get best out of him and mentor him up. Even from a drafting perspective a gm with connections to rams like Brian Xanders or ray Agnew has better drafting luck in later rounds than Seahawks.
I go with shula.
Sorry but what does this have to do with Shula?
I like Kubiak – but play calling is only one asset of coach a football team.
Ohh that colts defense score gives me some pause on Lou…
I d be stoked with either Kubiak or Shula, think I’m leaning a bit towards Shula given the talent on our d vs outcome, seems like the right guy could get that unit to make a big leap next year
