Cayden Lindstrom not selected to Canada’s training camp roster for the 2026 World Junior Championships

  1. Lindstrom not getting the call is disappointing especially when you see centers selected 21st, 13th, and 6th made the camp roster and a few others selected after Cayden may also make it depending on if their NHL teams let them go.

  2. This pick has a long way to go to be determined a good pick. Right now it’s been nothing but discouraging signs

  3. So many levels to this being a poor pick…mainly he was fucking injured and needed a long-term recovery…cbj upper management thinks we have a long horizon. Without a surge in competitiveness and playoff hockey, werenski, marchenko, and others will go elsewhere. And I wouldn’t blame them at all…

  4. Why would he be?

He hasn’t done anything even remotely worthy of a 4OA.

    Notably, Jackson Smith is there.

  5. You cannot waste top five picks in the NHL draft you just can’t. If you don’t like who is there trade down or up if you can. But this one seemed like an obvious no and yet we still went for it.

  6. I wasn’t expecting him to go but hopefully Jackson Smith gets a big role. I was also hoping to see Elick but with Calgary and Pittsburgh loaning out Parekh and Brunicke that wasn’t gonna happen.

  7. I’ve been trying to have patience with the Lindstrom pick but man this is hella concerning

  8. The crazy thing about the pick is that he seemed like a long term development type pick without the back injury hanging over his head. Then you have an injury that causes him to miss a year that the staff knew about and they drafted him anyways. I don’t understand it.

  9. I don’t think this is much of a surprise and frankly I don’t think Michigan State or CBJ would’ve been too keen on him going anyways with the fact that he is still rusty

  10. Hold on…

Did people actually think he *was* going to make it!? I’m not writing him off yet but he had no chance to make that team right now.

  11. Yeahhhhh. That was a wasted pick.

Id absolutely love to be proven wrong. But at this point, there isnt a butt hurt CBJ fan alive that could convince me that he is going to pan out as more than a career 4th liner. If that.

Lindstrom is the only person alive that can convince me otherwise. Im not holding my breath.

  12. Still rooting for the kid, mainly because this franchise simply needs him to work and become a top six player. Lots of pressure on him but whether he succeeds or fails is going to determine the direction this franchise takes imo

  13. It is one of the worst draft picks in franchise history.

I hope he pans out. But a ton of other first rounders from his draft year are already either in the NHL or playing at a point per game pace in juniors or NCAA.

He is behind. He is low on his team’s depth chart. He is not producing.

Again, hope I’m wrong. But this feels like another Picard / Brule level top 10 draft mistake. How this team consistently manages to fuck up high draft picks should be studied.
