Giants Draft Targets With #1 Pick In 2026 NFL Draft | New York Giants News, Rumors

with the Tennessee Titans defeating the Cleveland Browns, your New York Football Giants now own the number one pick in the 2026 NFL draft. So on today’s video, I’m going to tell you who they can select with that pick. Before we do that though, I want to hear from you because there’s been a lot of people saying, “Marshall, we got to trade down.” We’re not talking about that on today’s show. But if you want us to do a video on some potential tradeown packages, hit that thumbs up icon right now. [Music] This is New York Giants now by chat sports. I am your host Marshall Green. Appreciate everybody for stopping by. Draft targets from the best in the business, Mel Kyper and Dane Buger of the Athletic that the New York Giants can look to target with the number one overall pick. This is what the draft board looks like following the slate of games from this past Sunday where the New York Giants found themselves moving up in the 2026 NFL draft. Before the Monday Night Football game in week 14, which will not affect us, the New York Giants now own the number one pick. They are tied at 2 and 11 with the Las Vegas Raiders and the Tennessee Titans. But because they have the lowest strength of schedule SOS on you see as you see on your screen right now at 0.534 that is the tiebreaker when records are the same. The New York Giants own the number one overall pick. Still four games to go for Big Blue as you’ll take on the Washington Commanders in week 15 who are just blown out by the Minnesota Vikings who you will play in week 16. Then you got the Raiders in week 17 and the Dallas Cowboys in week 18. If the New York Giants do not win another game this year, they will own the number one overall pick. But usually, like they always do, they win some meaningless football games. I’ll be honest with you, I don’t think this is the most loaded draft class, but there are some quarterbacks at the top of the list that maybe some other teams would be interested in. a guy like Dante Moore who was number one on Mel Kyper Jr’s draft big board. Then Fernando Mendoza who was number two on the big board. That was prior to upsetting Ohio State if you even want to call it an upset. Maybe he moves up. And then Tai Simpson who I didn’t think looked very good in the SEC championship. He is number eight on Kyper’s board. Maybe the New York Giants can try to, let’s be honest, rip off a team that is going to be quarterback hungry to move up. But let’s start with the number three player on Kyper’s big board. That is Jeremiah Love, the running back out of Notre Dame. He is lightning in a bottle. If you are looking to add an explosive offensive piece to your football team, that is him. Dane Bugler writing, “NFL teams looking to become more explosive on offense are going to have Love on their wish list in April. His explosiveness and ability to stay afloat as a ball carrier are unique qualities along with the value he adds in the passing game. Love currently leads all FPS running backs with 16 total touchdowns, 13 rushing, three receiving, and ranks third with 30 37 plays of 10 plus yards. All these scouting reports you will see are from Dane Bugler and they’re from a couple of weeks ago. So, some of the stats might not match up, but at 6′ 214 pounds, this guy’s a workhorse and he can go the distance, 0 to 60, faster than just about anybody else in this class, 18 rushing touchdowns this year, almost seven yards per handoff. And also, he could be a weapon out of the back field as he has three receiving touchdowns. He’s a damn good football player, maybe the best pure football player in this class. The New York Giants cannot take a running back number one overall. So, I don’t think they should. I don’t think they will. But Jeremiah Love is going to be a stud in this league. Let’s go to Arll Reese, a player that a lot of a lot of people who cover the NFL draft had as the number one player on their big board just a couple of weeks ago, but some I would say lack of production over the last couple of weeks has seen him slide. Mel Kyper has him as number four, but on the most recent top 50 players in the NFL draft, Dane Buger actually had him as number one, saying wanted to play as a full-time edge rusher, Reese can do that. Prefer to keep him off the ball, he could do that, too. At 6’4 and 240 lbs with long arms, Ree is just as comfortable setting the edge with violence as he is dropping into space to cover ground or using burst to capture the corner and close on the quarterback. I don’t know how realistic it is that Ree actually will be the first player or first non-quarterback drafted, but he is the best eligible draft prospect I have studied in 2025. As I mean, I think Dne paints it perfectly right there. He could do it all. More than half his snaps have come off the edge, but he could also be that offball linebacker. As I overreact to what I saw in the Big 10 championship game, he is not a player that I think is worthy of the number one overall pick. I think he’s a stud. I think will be good in the NFL. I’m not trying to demise any of that, but I don’t see a guy that popped off the screen when I watched that game down in and down out. And I saw him as a franchise changer at the number one spot. Um, someone to keep an eye on though as the New York Giants uh are going to be picking high. I just don’t know if I could take another edge rusher who could also play off ball linebacker that early. Jordan Tyson is currently number five on Mel Kyper’s big board. And this is a player I am extremely interested in. We’re also going to talk about Carnell Tate. We’ll talk about Mai Lemon as well. But Tyson is probably my number one wide receiver in this class. He’s got the size at 6’2, 200 lb. But his explosiveness, his his ability to be dynamic and go and attack the ball at the highest point while providing some yards after catchability, that’s what separates him from the rest of receivers in this class. He is number eight on Dame Bugler’s big board and said a hamstring injury is about the only thing that has been able to slow Tyson this season. The Arizona State receiver has a knack for creating his own separation and winning at the catch point. Regardless of where he lines up across the formation, Tyson has 18 touchdown catches over his last 17 games. He’s explosive. He’s dynamic. And he would be a beautiful duo to pair alongside Jackson Dart when you talk about Malik Neighbors and him. I’m a big fan of his. I don’t think you take a wide receiver number one. But if we’re strictly talking about the best players in this class, Tyson is right there. As is Carnell Tate, the wide out of Ohio State. He’s quickly becoming wide receiver. A little bit different of a player. 6’3, 195 pounds. He’s more of a guy that you just line up on the outside and kind of reminds me of T. Higgins where Tyson is someone that can line up everywhere. I think he’s a little bit more explosive, a little faster, but Tate is that prototypical bigbodied boundary wide receiver that’s having a heck of a year for the Buckeyes. Bugler, who has him number 10 on his big board, says the wide receiver factory in Columbus, has another stud ready to upgrade an NFL offense. For a taller receiver, Tate is incredibly meticulous in his routes and at his best on vertical stems where he can use pacing and acceleration to win downfield. He has been dominant at the catch point this season. Zero drops and a 92.3% contested catch rate, 12 catches on 13 contested catch opportunities. Tate is a dog. Gives you some T. Higgins vibes, some Mike Evans vibes. can play on the outside, can win in 5050 ball situations, maybe the best in this class, and he gives you more of a bigger body that you can t uh pair alongside Malik Neighbors as the pass catchers for Jackson Dart. I I would love to add a receiver in round one of this draft. Just again, I’m not going to keep saying it, but with the number one overall pick, um I don’t know. And I think if you could tell at this point, I don’t think there is a guy that is above the pack that should go number one that is not a quarterback. Let’s go to Mai Lemon, who is much different than Tate and um than Tyson at the receiver spot. 5′ 11”, 195 lbs. He gives me some Aman Ross St. Brown vibes. I think he plays bigger than he is. He can line up all over the field. He’s strong at the catch point as well, but his route running, his ability to slide into the slot and do it all, I think is going to be an absolute beast in the NFL. He’s number seven on Mel Kyper’s board, but number 20 on Buglers. And he writes, “Lemon isn’t going to wow with his side in size and speed testing in the spring, but his feel for maneuvering through coverages and creating after the catch will make him a productive NFL receiver. Some will get caught up blaming labeling him as a slot only guy, but most will see just a good football player. And while he is succeeding in the slot at SC, he could play all over. And um while I don’t think that he fits the the absolute perfect billing that the New York Giants are looking for at the receiver spot, like when you just boil down to what receivers do well, he might be the best of the bunch. He’s just a little bit more limited. He isn’t 6’2. He isn’t 6’3. You can’t just throw him 50-50 balls. Um Giants hands will love this. He reminds me of a souped-up Steve Smith. He’s a beast. He’s smart. He could sit down the soft spots. Strong hands catcher. He could throw him some 50/50 balls as well on back shoulder phase of the end zone. Really good player. And whoever gets him in the draft, they’re going to be very happy about it. We’ll continue to talk about all of the players the New York Giants could target with the number one overall pick. And also, shout out to Francis Maua. I I I practiced that 50 times for the show. I watched 10 videos. I’m still saying it wrong. Apologize to you. Um, this is someone though that you always see players rise through the pre-draft process and a right tackle of his stat stature at 6’6, 315 lbs. With his abilities, you could actually see this guy going closer to one than you do right now, which is number nine on Kyper’s big board and number 16 on Buger’s big board. He is a right tackle, so that is something the New York Giants need. They’ll have to make a decision on if they want to resign aluminor. Maybe they’re in a spot to just select the best right tackle in the class. Bugler writes, “A former five-star recruit, Maago became an immediate starter at right tackle for the Hurricanes as a freshman and has shown gradual improvements each season. His tape says he can stay outside as a tackle, but his skill set at the next level might be maximized as they move inside to guard. Regardless, he is a high four prospect. I hate how we always do that. Oh, he’d be a good tackle, but he’d be a damn good guard. Classic NFL draft talk there. 88.8 pass block rate this year, 80.8 in the run block department. Has only allowed two sacks this season to go along with three QB hits, four hurries, and nine pressures uh at uh all combined. He has a 98.6 pass block efficiency rate, 768 snaps at right tackle. The Giants, they could use a right tackle if they move on from aluminor. Even if they don’t, they could still use one as he’s going to be 31 years old actually this week. Happy birthday to Germaine. Someone to keep your eye on through the draft process. Number 10 on Mel Kyper’s big board, that is Kenyan Sadique, the tight end out of Oregon. One of my favorite players in this class. You don’t take a tight end number one overall, but maybe if you do trade down, maybe you’re still in range to select the 6’3, 245-lb pass catcher out of Eugene. Number 10 on Kyper board, number 17 on Buglers, who writes, “Though he’s not on the Brock Bowowers level as a prospect, who is?” Sadique is an impressive athlete with the talent to be a mismatch match weapon for an NFL offense. His youth often shows, which should be expected for a tight end who’s only 20, but his upside as both a blocker and receiver is exciting. This is someone that I would love to pair alongside Jackson Dart. Big, strong, fast, natural hands catcher. He can line up outside as a wide out. You could slide him in to the slot as well. I’ve always wanted to pair someone with Jackson Dart that could dominate in between the hashes over the middle of the field. Sadique can do that. I just don’t know if it’s going to be right spot, right time for the Giants to select him. But the tight end, the duck, he’s someone I really, really like. David Bailey, the linebacker, edge rusher, whatever you want to call him at a love, the Texas Tech Raider, might be the best defensive player in college football, and he might be being slept on when it comes to NFL draft talk. number 11 on Kyper’s board, 14 on Bugler’s board, who um I do think is a little bit underrated at 6’3″, 250 lbs. The FBS leader in pressures, Bailey is a bullet off the edge and creates conflict for blockers in space, which is why he was a top 30 prospect on my preseason draft board and continues to rise. Though his pass rush value always will be his bread and butter, Baileyy’s clear improvement as a run defender should help him avoid the one-trick pony label from scouts. When you could put together a season like he has at 22 years old, 13 and a half sacks, three force fumbles, 17 plus tackles for loss, he’s going to be someone a lot of teams are interested in. Really good player. I don’t see him as a number one overall pick type of player at this point. Caleb DS may be the best defensive player in this class. When I specifically talk about translating to the NFL, I know we just said in college football with Bailey, but DS is someone that has already looked at as a professional. We’ve heard multiple players um talk about what he brings from a leadership perspective. You go back and you listen to the Ohio State defensive coordinator from last year, last season speak about Downs. He is a coach’s dream who would be a captain and potentially a culture shifter for any team that picks him. Currently number 12 on Kyper’s big board, but Dame Bugler actually has him as the number three player on his. He says, “Like Arll Reese, I don’t think DS will be drafted as highly as I have him ranked because of positional value. Given how the NFL has drafted safeties in recent years, we can’t even call DS a top 10 lock. But the Ohio State All-America is one of the best pure football players in this draft class.” NFL coaches are going to love how he marries his athletic ability, field vision, and toughness. 40 tackles this year, two interceptions, two PBUs, five tackles for loss to pair along with a sack. I almost feel like labeling him as a safety is doing a disservice to the type of player that he is. He can line up as a single high. He could play split at the top. He can go into the box and be that big nickel. He could blitz off the edge. He could do it all. And with the Giants who lack defensive playmakers, downs to someone that I have my eye on again in a tradeown situation. Peter Woods, the defensive tackle out of Clemson, was talked about in the pre-draft process this summer as a guy that could go number one overall. He was awesome in the 2024 season. And not to say he hasn’t been that 2025, he just hasn’t played like he did. Both number 13 on the big boards for Bugler and for Kyper. Buger says, “My top ranked prospects entering the season, Woods hasn’t lived up to that high bar. However, he is a nimble big man with the agility and physicality to be disruptive. Clemson’s defense has been pretty disappointing this year, but scouts are eager to see how Woods and the rest of the NFL talent on that roster finishes the season. 6’3, 315 lbs. The Giants have a desperate need for finding a defensive tackle that can get off blocks at the line of scrimmage and make plays there to pair pair alongside Dexter Lawrence. That’s been a need for this team for a really long time. Um, I like Woods. I think he’s kind of lost some juice uh with his play on on the of the season this year, but a good player nonetheless and a position of need for this football team. Spencer Fono, the right tackle out of Utah, number 14 on Kyper’s big board. 6’6, 302 pounds. He’s got good feet, 82 pass block grade, 81.8 run blocking grade, and has not allowed a sack this year. He’s number 11 on Bugler’s big board. And Dne says when Utah needs a yard, its offense runs behind number 55 at right tackle. Vano has looked mortal at times this season, but he is an athletic big man with quick, efficient footwork and latch and drive strength. Though there isn’t a Joe Alt level tackle prospect in the class, Vono has a lot to offer as a future NFL starter. Like we talked about him and the offensive tackle out of Miami, these offensive linemen can rise up big boards when we get into the spring and late winter months. And I wouldn’t be surprised if either of those guys are top five picks. Last player we’re going to talk about on today’s show is Ruben Bane Jr., the defensive lineman out of Miami. This guy’s a stud. And when I watch the tape of him and Reese, I actually feel like Bane is a better player. Reese is just a little bit more, I would say, versatile who could play on the edge and off ball. Whereas Bane can line up anywhere on the defensive line. He’s got great size, 6’3”, 275 lbs. number 15 on Kyper’s big board, but number six on the Athletics big board, uh, created by Dane Bugler. With a dense, short armed body type, Bane doesn’t have the frame you traditionally see from pass rushers drafted this early, but it is hard to ignore the way he uses his get off power and natural leverage to pressure the quarterback and shut down the run. His play style reminds me of Brandon Graham. As good as I think Bane is and how lucky a team is going to get be to get him, I have a hard time spending another premium pick on a defensive lineman. How many are you going to throw there? Maybe it’s you draft Bane, you draft Reese, and then you trade Kavon Tibido, but I just can’t see this team going to that well again. But I do want to make it clear. I think Ruben Bane is one of the best players in this class. We’ve gone through the top five players on almost every person’s big board. Who do you want the Giants to pick with the number one overall pick if they do hold that pick? Sound off for me. If you can’t tell by how I’ve been speaking of the players in this class, I think this draft lacks elite talent, top end talent, like number one overall pick talent. And maybe it’s been like that uh in college football over the past couple of seasons, even though it felt like Abdul Carter was worthy of the number one overall pick last year. and you go back a couple years before that, it feels like that. But this is a draft that I think has some depth and some quality first rounders. I just think if you rule out the quarterbacks, the top five positional players in this draft don’t really stack up to recent ones. So, I’ll ask you this question. What do you think the Giants should do with the number one overall pick? Should they trade out of the pick? Type T. Do you think they should stick and pick type P for uh pick in the comment section? I think in a dream world for me, I would look to trade down with a quarterback hungry team. Maybe it is the Raiders looking to trade up for Mendoza. Maybe it’s the Jets looking to trade up for Mendoza or Dante Moore, the quarterback out of Oregon. But if you can get a Kings ransom, kind of like what we saw when the Chicago Bears traded down with the Carolina Panthers when they were able to get their quarterback of the future and Bryce Young, they got a bunch of draft picks and I thought that really accelerated their rebuild retool to help them get in a spot, which right now they’re competing to get into the NFL playoffs. Do the Giants keep the number one pick, though? That’s the biggest question. According to ESPN’s analytics, they do not think so. Um, the Giants, we showed you their schedule. They have some winnable games left on the schedule with the final four games, but the projected draft slot for the New York Giants is actually number five overall. ESPN says they have just a 10% chance to hold on to that top pick, a 54.4% chance to get a top five pick, and then a 98.4% chance to pick in the top 10. Well, hopefully they do get the number one overall pick. If you want it to happen, hit that thumbs up icon for me. Like the video if you want the Giants to keep the number one overall pick. 1. If they get the #1 trade for 2 1st round drafts to the Jets to secure 2 olinemen then a MLB at 2nd round, and a hb at 4th round and prioritize kickers for 5 and 6 rounders and go dts and cbs while looking for kickers and resign Eluemenor this is exactly what I'd do if I held the #1, but it is risky so what giants leadership decides I'll agree with.

  2. You know the Giants will win 1 or 2 of the last 4 meaningless games, and will be lucky to be picking in the top 10. That’s just what the Giants do. 🙄

  3. I know this isn’t going to be popular, but if they have a quarterback rated higher than Jackson dart, DRAFT HIM! You can tell the public Jackson dart is definitely the starter going forward, but we could not pass up on a talent like this. You don’t have to protect a rookies feelings to call him tree bait, or whatever for the future the dart does not put a big yards yet even though I know he hasn’t had the most weapons. He’s also played very reckless. I would love to see him be our quarterback for the next 10/12 years but if we have a chance to take a “can’t miss “type of guy” TAKE HIM!

  4. How many guys did Marshall mention? Let’s say 15. 5 will be as predicted, 5 will be ok and 5 will be busts. If Joe Schoen is GM, what group do you think Giants will draft from.🧐YEAH…ME TOO.

  5. I love both Caleb Downs & Carnell Tate (Buckeyes). If the Giants somehow lose out and get the #1 pick, then trade down with one of the QB hungry teams who are willing to pay heavily for Mendoza (Raiders, Saints, Browns). Trade with whoever is willing to give you the best basket of picks, including their #1 this year. Use that 1st round pick to snatch up Downs or Tate.

  6. With all due honesty, none of these players are worth losing out for. We don’t NEED The number one pick. If we end up with it by no fault of our own that’s fine and it’s a good asset.
I think it’s more important This team tries to win some games and put something together for next year.
No matter what they’re gonna end up with the top five pick most likely 3

  7. IF they keep #1 they can trade back TWICE and still get a rock solid player, and more capital. They need to get more talent across the board, AND build the bench. No bench is why our kickers suck and we have a ditch digger as a kicker.

  8. IF Giants gets Jets 2nd rd picks with trade down Kaydon McDonald and Anthony Hill should be picked along with Best available guard with Giants owned pick
