Did Rich Eisen Just Finally Relent and Admit That the Cincinnati Bengals’ Season Is Over???

So close. I love being right. I love being right. Joe Burrow’s up by 10 in Western New York in the snow. Looking like Joe Burr throwing it to everybody. Looking like Joe Burrow. T Hagens making catches. You bet. And I thought to myself, here they here we go. I kept five and eight. They’re going to be a game behind the loser of Steelers Ravens. Just two behind the winner with four to go. Winnable games. And then all of a sudden, Burrow flips it and um two plays later, two interceptions later, unreal. And the uh the snowstorm really hit. And then Josh Allen, I mean, just how amazing is he? He’s just he’s again, he’s the Mandalorian quarterback. He is the Mandalorian quarterback. That’s what he is. This is the way. And the Bills now are your five seed. We’ll see what happens on Monday Night Football, but the Bills now are the five seed. And if they wind up the five seed, they take on the Patriots next. Patriots win and they go back on the AFC East throne, they will clinch the division. But the Bills are two back and have a shot. And even with a couple of fumbles from James Cook, the Bills defense didn’t do well on third down, but on defense, they um they outrushed the Bengals. They held the Bengals just 62 rushing yards. They’ve allowed fewer than 70 rush yards in back-to-back games now. And they outrush the Bengals a buck 83 to 62. This is the way to use the Mandalorian phrase. Run it. Stop the run. And let Josh Allen do the rest. And you know, Christian Benford, man, a defensive touchdown in back-to back games. Fumble recovery against the Steelers. And then this one, the pick six that flipped the game on its head. Yeah, that play was sick. Flipped the game on its head. And the Bills win. And um this is what Josh Allen had to say afterwards. You know, we we stress with this team all the time is we don’t blink. We don’t panic. Doesn’t matter if our defense is playing outstanding, where they’re not playing great, and vice versa for our offense. You know, we we have supreme trust in each other that we’re going to figure it out. We’re going to play for each other. And that’s all we try to do is just not ride the wave, stay as calm as possible and and figure find a way to figure it out. So, what they are as a five seed and if they stay there, let’s just assume again the Patriots win this division because they probably will. Okay, let’s just assume it. Um, the Bills as a five seed are going to be that team that goes into the house of the defending of the uh of the AFC North winner and can easily one and done that team. And then whoever wins the AFC South if the Bills fall to six cuz the Chargers might overtake him or maybe the Texans might catch him. Who knows? The Bills are going to be one of those teams with Josh Allen on the road in the playoffs. Maybe similar to the Chiefs a couple years ago. You don’t want to see him there. the ultimate. Don’t want to see him because Josh Allen could out of the blue just turn into some guy. You know what I’m going to do today? I’m going to count for six touchdowns. What about you? And Joe Joe Borrow accounted for four yesterday, but those two picks in back-to-back throws, plays, snaps. So random, too. Put the Bengals season on the brink hit it. That’s how the cookie crumbled this year. you know, obviously I would have loved to have been out there more and and be able to to make an impact, but um that wasn’t the case. And, you know, I fought my fought my butt off to to get back to this spot and to be able to be out there with everybody and for our organization in the city. So, that’s what I’m going to continue to do. I uh I take it very seriously. I I love what I do and I’m going to continue to do it. Somebody’s been caping how the season is not over to hear Joe Burrow talk about it in the past tense. Hits me in the gut. I wanted to use this bit so badly for the next month, but the bit’s gone. The bit is history. Sad cuz yeah, they’re three behind the Steelers play by that. That’s all she wrote. But the Bills, man, in the snow, what a game. Borrow versus Allen in the snow. Week 14 early window. Two punts in the game, turnovers galore, momentum swinging and changing, and the Bills are going to go to the playoffs and be a tough out. Hey, you made it all the way to the end. Thanks for that. Check us out every single day streaming live on Disney Plus and the ESPN app 12 to 3 Eastern.

  1. The Bills have so many thrilling shoot-outs because — no matter how great Josh Allen is — their defense is so full of holes it will always keep the opposing team in the game.

  2. Issue with the Bills are they’re technically 3 games behind of New England because of the divisional record. Let’s say New England loses to Buffalo next week then to Baltimore while Buffalo beats the Browns the week after and both are 11-4. Bills are still behind them in the division due to divisional record and New England the. Play the Jets and the Dolphins while Buffalo have a game with the Eagles so winning the division is gonna be hard for them.

And I love Josh Allen but his playoff record on the road is 0-4. Now 3 of these are against the Chiefs and the other one is before Josh was a star against Deshaun and the Texans but there is still no evidence on how good Josh can be on an away playoff game for 3 straight weeks. You can call him the best QB in the league and everything points towards that but he doesn’t have a playoff resume like Pat or Burrow on the road where these guys have both beaten Josh in Buffalo, Burrow beat Tennessee and KC in their homes while Pat has beaten Baltimore with Lamar in an away game. Josh hasn’t done any of that and he hasn’t beaten anybody at their place at all.

And the defense has issues clearly. Buffalo did a good job limiting Ja’Marr the other day but Chase Brown, Tee Higgins and Mike Gesicki ate them alive all game. And this hasn’t only happened against a monster Cincy offense. Baltimore week 1 gave them 40, Pats put up 23 in Buffalo, Miami put 30 on them and a very injured Bucs team put up 32. They struggle to get to the QB, their secondary can get burnt and they struggle as much as anybody against good running games. Achane, Bijan, Henry all dominated them.

Yes the AFC has nobody with actual playoff experience in the conference. The closest is the Texans with a 3rd year QB and head coach that made the divisional twice. But the team has so many holes and they will be on the road every game and the AFC doesn’t have any great offenses but there are nightmare defenses in this conference among playoff teams. Houston have the best defense since the Legion of Boom, Denver also has a great defense top to bottom, Jaguars have been very good defensively, New England have been good. The road to a SB will be super tough for them even though they probably won’t have to face KC this time

  3. Bills fan here and a Joe Burrow admirer. Look back a month at the Bengals’ awful losses to the Jets and Bears. Joe Flacco was slinging the ball everywhere. They put up 38 on NY and 42 on Chicago and had 4th qtr leads in both of those. Would they have won those with Burrow? They need better defense to be real playoff contenders. Half their salary cap is taken up with Joe B and his receivers.

  4. Boring white t-shirt in the postgame press conference from Joe Burrow. No fashion statements like that jacket last week. I guess the season really is over. Poor guy.

  5. Joe Burrow deserves better. Watching that game as a stunned/happy Bills fan, it felt like a shame one of these QB's had to lose. Allen, Mahomes, Jackson, they can all pull out a miracle when they need it, but on a down by down basis Burrow is as scary as anyone. Reminds me of Warren Moon in the run and shoot era.

  6. Josh Allen is phenomenal no question about it but I still do not think this Bills team will win the Super Bowl this year. The Bengals defense was what we all saw them to be all year. One of the worst ever. The Bills defense can absolutely get got. Josh Allen really is this generation's John Elway. The question will really be who will be the Bills version of Terrell Davis to take off that extra load. Until I see it I highly doubt the Bills will win it all this year.

  7. Don't get me wrong, Allen balled out, but they barely beat the worst defense in football at home and had to be gifted two turnovers at the end to do it. The first I'll put on Joe, the second was just bad luck. But regardless, I didnt walk out of there thinking the Bills figured it out. If anything they proved once again to be too reliant on Allen and miracle turnovers to save them.

  8. As crazy as it sounds, Bengals still aren't out of it. Baltimore and Pittsburgh have relatively tough schedules coming up while the Bengals have it much easier. In any other division they'd be done, but Steelers and Ravens are both bad enough to lose 3 of their 4 remaining games easily.

  9. I don think it’s safe to say the patriots win the division, they are definitely the favorites to however next two games are Buffalo and Baltimore. It’s definitely possible the division is tied with two weeks to go

  10. Why is it after every Bills win it's time to polish the Lombardi? So, let's slow that roll. And this game at the half it was looking a lot like the January 22, 2023, debacle. On to NE where the Pats at home IS the Bills SB. A loss means having to run the table from a wild card slot (at best) and possibly facing them again in the AFC title game at 0-2, in NE.
