  2. He’s not playing boras games good. This is some weird showmanship on their part to be honest and it tells me his market has completely stalled again

  4. So odd how much weird hate Stearns gets. He had an incredible first year, signed Soto to the biggest contract ever last year, and then struck out on other moves he made, which happens.

    I think Stearns is just an analytics-type, maybe a tad awkward type of guy? Never took anything malicious by his demeanor or him always smiling lol but seems I’m in the minority apparently

  6. I’m so desperate for something to happen that I started gaslighting myself into thinking Stearns made some sort of good move before this video that we havent heard about yet because he seems like he’s in a giddy mood

  8. Maybe Pete’s asking for too much and too many years. Yes, I don’t like the way Boras operates. But, Pete is a Mets hero and our greatest homegrown home run hitter and he deserves more respect!

    That said… bold choice going all smiles and jokes on what literally could be a job-defining decision for him. (Depending on how it all plays out).

  10. Unless some team offers some crazy offer which doesn’t look like it’s gonna happen I have a feeling the Mets are gonna either match or go just above whatever another team gives. Why wouldn’t they start bidding against themselves right now

  11. I appreciate guys who spend their careers with one team, just as much as the next guy. But I think it’s something you appreciate in retrospect after they’ve earned it by being the best option every step of the way. 

  12. my wonderful gf got into the mets this year and her favorite player is pete alonso (my sisters favorite as well). so i am selfishly hoping pete comes back. i even got her a pete jersey for her bday so im taking a chance lol

  13. So let me get this straight. Stearns smiles during interviews and people think that makes him smug? What do you want him to do growl at people? I think he’s just being polite.

  15. No way Pete is coming back. They’re not even going to match any size-able offer and I figure if Boston is serious they’re going to offer him at least 3 years.

  16. My gut feeling is, if Pete signs before January 20th, he isn’t a Met. Anything after, he’s back on radar. 

    For Diaz, if he signs in December, it won’t be with the Mets. January, he’s a Met. 

    Just feel like Mets aren’t gonna be paying the prices they want, and they’re gonna be searching for a bit. Pete especially.

  18. Mets need Pete more than Pete needs us. There aren’t any good options out there for 1B. If Pete leaves, we have a gaping hole in our offense, and if we expect to compete for a playoff spot next year, we’ll need Pete. I’m pretty confident Stearns knows this.

  22. I just dont like this guy. He thinks he’s the smartest person in every room he’s in.

    Plus I look at him and think he never picked up a bat or owned a Baseball glove his entire life

  23. Boras is going to get someone to overpay and he’s still going back to the Mets to see if we will match/up the bid.

    We going to find out who can work the room better. Stearns or boras.

    Last year, it shows that Stearns read the market for Alonso better.

  28. The “Scott Boras, oh no!!” nonsense it out of control. Boras isn’t going to make the decision for Pete. And he isn’t going to scorn the Mets for funsies. Pete’s going to sign with the team that makes him the best offer for him, which may include how wanted the team makes he feel. Boras is a non-issue.

  29. It’s like fans want Stearns to just give Pete a sweetheart deal because he’s a nice guy and a career met. We are about to get killed with the next CBA, every dollar we can save will matter because we are the big spenders. Let your smart exec do his job who absolutely read the Pete market perfect last year when no one even sniffed the mets offer.

  31. Lurking in the Mets sub for any sort of activity, since I know AA will do absolutely nothing for the Braves.
