THE HERD | Colin Cowherd SHOCKED, Shedeur Sanders Is A FRANCHISE QB With Cleveland Browns | NFL

Not not all franchise quarterbacks are Josh Allen. Um but I mean there’s a lot of mids and I watched Sedur Sanders again this weekend and I’m like I don’t know it it looks like the Colorado kid. I don’t think he has a great trait, a great arm, great athleticism. I do think he’s better than a fifth round draft pick. I mean I watched Kenny Picket get drafted in the first round. I watched about six starts and I’m like, that’s not a franchise guy. It’s not a big story, especially because at least TBO was winning, but I think he’s a lot better than T-Bo. What are we to say after a few starts on Shadur Sanders? Bad weather, 400 yards, not a very good receiving core. It’s something, right? Yeah, it’s something. I I think they’re going to be encouraged by it. I think they’re going to say, “Hey, there’s something to work with here. There’s a lot of things that um that stand out that are uncoachable.” And then there’s the stuff that we can fix. Listen, you got you got him. You got JJ McCarthy, Cam Ward. Some guys, they’re young guys. They’re just out there running plays. Playoffs are done. They’re just out there running plays. And the teams are saying, “Hey, let’s see what we can find out about this guy so we can make a decision on our quarterback room for next year.” Um, you know, Tyler Shuck, I think, is an example of another guy taking advantage of that. Ironically, Jackson Dart, who had the best year of the class, he’s out. And Riley Leonard’s going to be the guy playing relevant snaps at the end here. Uh, but with all that being said, all eyes are going to be on Shidor. Everything’s going to be under the microscope. But I do think they’re going to give him the opportunity. I think it’s going to be his to have the rest of the season. And, you know, they’re going to they’re going to say, “Okay, can he make the improvements that we’re asking him to make?” Much like the way that Caleb Williams last year it was taking sacks. Um, it was body language. He really improved on those things. And let’s just see can we get him to the next level. Shadur for me is doing a lot better than a lot of people were counting on him doing. Yeah. Um I think this was a really successful game for Shador. Um and I think of course right like the Cleveland Browns would be crazy to not have him like finish the season and you know so I don’t I don’t even know how that’s even a question honestly. The problem with the continued discussion about Shadore continues to be the extreme takes about how like a game like this is proof that you know people are saying that Shadore what Shadore did against Tennessee Titans is better than anything Drake May has ever done in the NFL. Like that was a real comment. That was a real take that what Shadore did against the Cle Titans is better than anything Drake May has done. And Drake May is getting praised as as the next big thing. And it’s like that’s not even close to being remotely accurate. There’s not even a glimmer of truth to that. It’s not just box core stats. It’s not just who threw him for more yards, total touchdowns, et like that’s not how this works. And the types of throws and the types of things that Drake May are is doing, it’s just night and day difference. So like this is what continues to be the insane conversation about Shador Sanders that we can’t even celebrate and speak highly about a win like this or or you know like in terms of a win for Shadore like a positive step forward because they just take it too far. And to illustrate this, Garner Mchu as a rookie threw for 374 yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions, and a 101.9 pass with the Jacksonville Jaguars, who are obviously a joke, and had 42 rushing yards and a QBR of 62.4. Nobody was talking about how Gardenner Mchu is being disrespected. The hatred, you know, people just hate him and want to see him fail. And Garner Mchu went on to not be a legitimate starting quarterback in the NFL. Bryce Young as a rookie with the Carolina Panthers, a disaster of a team going up against the Green Bay Packers who dominated dominated the Dallas Cowboys. Bryce Young 23 for 36, 312 yards, two touchdowns, a 110 pass rating, and 81.3 QBR for a carry 17 yards. And the Carolina Panthers are probably not even going to pick up his fifth year option, but Shadore played well and we should be able to discuss that. But people take things just so far and so extreme that it becomes impossible to have a real conversation and it’s doing Shadore a disservice. It I mean it it really is. It’s doing him a disservice saying things like Shadore is playing better than Drake May or better than Jackson Dart. And it’s like, what are you talking about? I mean, Jackson Dart has a 63.6% completion percentage. Shador Sanders 52.4% 4% completion percentage. He has 11 touchdowns to three interceptions. Shador already has three interceptions in a third of the games and five touchdowns. Has Shadore has one rushing touchdown. Jackson Dart has seven seven and 337 rushing yards. Jackson Dart has played 10 games, although hasn’t completed all 10 games. and Shadore has played four games but also played you know three full ones. I mean Drake May has a 71.5% completion percentage right now, 8.8 yards per attempt. He has six interceptions, but obviously he’s played 13 games. Shor’s played three, four, you know, three and and a whatever has five touch. Like the inter touchdown interception ratio is not even close. I I I it’s just it’s just insane. It’s just insane. I mean, Drake May’s passer rating is second in the NFL. 111.9 nearly 112 of passer rating. Jackson Dart is 15th at 94.1. Shador Sanders is at 80.6. It’s actually below Dylan Gabriel’s. So, how about that? Dylan Gabriel 59.5 completion percentage. Shador Sanders 52 point uh 52%. Dylan Gabriel seven touchdowns, two interceptions. Shador Sanders five touchdowns, three interceptions. Dillian Gabriel, nine drop passes. Shador Sanders, three 7.6% 6% drop percentage to Shador’s 5.4%. So literally the Cleveland Browns were even worse with Dylan Gabriel. Adjusted completion percentage factoring in drops, throwaways, etc. 69.2% 64.4%. And it’s funny because now Shadore fans want to say, “Well, the team and this and that.” You didn’t say that for Joe Flacco. You didn’t say that for Dylan Gabriel. So that’s what makes this a bit of a shame because you can’t have like a real honest grounded conversation. Be like, “Yeah, this was a really good productive uh game for Shadore. A great step in the right direction. Made some really nice throws. Yeah, it was a really bad interception. Hopefully, it’s something that he can learn from. Blah blah blah blah blah. Instead, it’s this is proof. This is proof. They want Shadore to fail. Kevin Stfansky is a liar and a cheater. Shador is the greatest quarterback ever. He’s doing things we’ve never seen before. It’s like, what? Gardner, we saw we’ve seen Gardner Mchu. Like, what? He’s better than Drake May. Look at Tom Brady’s first three games. It’s like what what do you think that means? Look what John Elway did. And it’s like why are you guys talking about right now? If you don’t say that this was the greatest game you’ve ever seen in proof that Shador Sanders was the best quarterback and should have been number one overall, it’s like you’re a hater. You’re a doubter. You’re biased. You’re this. You’re that. And it’s just like going into this game, I said, “Hey, I’m not going to be able to make a postgame clip with this because there’s other games that I’m going to have to be able to make postgame. I can’t do an immediate postgame clip. I said that going into that game. And to my shock yesterday, people go, “Where’s the shador clip?” Huh? Huh? Where’s the shad clip? It’s like I I told you going into this game that I’m not going to be able to do a postgame clip. I I’m only one person. I can only do so much in a in a single day. I’m watching all of these games and I don’t watch 10 games at once because I actually want to know what I’m watching. I’m not going to break down five, six games within five minutes of each other. The quality degrades. I want to have real conversations, not just immediately just react. I’m not making 30 second Tik Toks here. I’m having real conversations. But it was kind of great because then I could see the convers I could see the comments ahead of time, see what people were saying. And that’s when I got insane comments like Shador Sanders had a better game than Drake May has ever had. And it’s like oh my gosh, he’s been better than Jackson Dart. What? No, he hasn’t. What he’s done is amazing. We’ve never seen this before. Uh Gardner, Mchu, and Bryce Young begged to differ. And those were just two quarterbacks that I just ri whipped out. I was like, you know what? Let me see what Bryce Young did, his rookie. Uh let me see what Drake me or excuse me, what um Garner Men, I’m like purposely trying to find quarterbacks that people like don’t have the highest uh regard for like those were just two quarterbacks that I just randomly picked out. There’s a million of them. No doubt. No doubt. So, it’s like just relax, take a chill, though. Those are just my thoughts. I’d absolutely love to hear yours.   3. Uhhhhhmmmm @JWLSports (Julian), I'll answer your question and tell you exactly what we are talking about (9:32 timestamp). First of all, STOP trying to make money off of Shedeur's name with your CLICKBAIT video title while basically trying to do your cheap ALDI store brand imitation of Colin Cowherd hatred of Shedeur at the same time. You completely exaggerated the take about Drake Maye and Shedeur way out of the original context that was made in comparison between the two as to how they performed this season against the same Titans team. When the Patriots played Tennessee six weeks earlier in October, Drake Maye (21-23, 222yds, 2 TD) contributed for only 14 of the 31 points scored in their win against the Titans (RB Stevenson, the defense, and the kicker scored the rest); but Shedeur (23-42, 364yds, 3 TD, 1 Int, 1 Rush TD) accounted for ALL 29 points against that same Titans defense as a ROOKIE in only his 3rd NFL start with a BAD offensive line that's injured and a defense that played horrible allowing 31 points. In fact, Shedeur is only the 2nd ROOKIE QB in the Super Bowl era to have 300+ yds, 3+ TDs, and a rushing TD in NFL History (along with Joe Burrow) and the first Cleveland Brown ROOKIE QB to do that in Browns' entire franchise history. No matter how great Shedeur performs the rest of the season, you STILL don't want to recognize him as an NFL franchise quarterback because you can't relate to him (culturally and on several other levels) and his struggle in rising to the top of his profession despite the obstacles placed in front of him and lies told about him by those in the media who didn't even care to watch him play in college. Shedeur has even been a great ambassador to the Cleveland community since he's been there (massive apartment fire displacing so many families this summer and giving away new cars to needy local families in Cleveland), but you so-called sports media guys NEVER talk about that because you all simply just flat-out DON'T WANT HIM TO SUCCEED IN BECOMING AN NFL STARTING QUARTERBACK. The fact that he was picked in the 5th round with 1st round talent (2024 Johnny Unitas Award winner, Mel Kiper's Top 5 NFL Draft board pick, and taking the Colorado Buffaloes from a 1-13 to a Top 25 ranked bowl team in 2yrs) is only so that you can "legitimize" your scrutinizing disrespect of Shedeur Sanders. A young man of faith who puts God FIRST in EVERYTHING he does on & off the field, even when discussing his performances with the media after games and practices. Just watch how The Lord continues to bless him in spite of you guys the rest of his career because there is way too many of us keeping Shedeur lifted up in prayer on the regular (2 Corinthians 5:7 – "For we walk by faith, not by sight").

Dillon didnt come in at the end of the game during a heated rivilary dillon gabriel had reps all summer shedeur had none. Drake mayes has one of the best coaches in football and his first year he had 15 tds and 10 picks in 13 games with a 88.1 passer rating. It shows yall yt wash the truth with stats comparing the 2nd year to a first year. Compare the fact shedeur outplayed the first pick as the Cleveland defense was gashed for 161 yards on the ground 😂😂😂

Drake May has a coach and organization that fully supports him. Sanders outplayed the no 1 overall pick. Time will make fools of you all. The reason for the extreme takes is because he went in the 5th round. That game put egg on the face of the whole NFL. Extreme takes were all of the lies circulated about him before the draft, NONE of which have been proven true. Playing from behind, 2 scoring drives in the last 4 minutes???? In his 3rd start??? Thats a winner.
